I guess nobody read the description about what the two cars are . I was born into "this is faster than that" and disreguarded all handling, looks, interior quality, paint quality, any other aspect because it was out of my budget to do all of it or it would take away ftom the acceleration of my car. I drove a Mustang, which was cheap and easy to modufy. What I liked about racing GM and Mopar is they had bigger engines but I could beat them anyway. Eventually, I got a little more money and more tired of one trick ponys. I'd take the Mustang, which can be pushed to the 9s and drive it everywhere. Track, street, road course. If I really wanted to show up a Demon 170, I'd use a big turbo 2.5 Audi RS3. They can run 7s. I'd have a lot more money in the bank and the engine is 2.6 times smaller. A lot of comments are from bench racers. While I don't have a Demon or a GT500 I do have a 3.0T A6 that runs mid 11s on a street tire. I drive it two hours to the track and drive it home. If I ever come across a 717 HP Mopar on the street running street tires, they are in for an AWD surprise. I learned my lesson back in the day with a 7.6 liter Mustang. You Know the other thing a Ford Mustang loses when it Races Against the Dodge? The Warranty. that's right, Ford Void's the warranty when you race your Ford Mustang.
That's only if you do so competitively. This video is competitive use so yes it'll void your warranty, but if you just go to the drag strip on a Sunday and race it with a friend no bets that technically doesn't void warranty.
Still slower, you mustang guys can't even pick the right car to rep your favorite brand, you should say the super jet but you probably don't know about it.
There's a shocking amount of people in this comment section thinking this was a fair race, and they're not the Ford people. So I'm going to talk about the two cars, interesting topic. While it's neat to see the performance difference between a tame-aero GT500 on non-slicks and a specced Demon 170 on a 1/4 mile, a Shleby Code Red would've been an actually fair race with the Demon. As stated by many people here, the GT500 is a Pony Car. They're made for general performance- as said in the video description. It's also a roadcar, a vehicle you can live with. The Demon on the other hand is an all-out Drag Car, quite literally made to do 1/4 miles and nothing else. Now, both cars are really good at what they do, no mistake there. The only problem with the Dodge cars, is they extremely exaggerate about the performance and the cars themselves. 8.9 Seconds @ 150 MPH, 1.6 seconds to 60? That really just doesn't happen, and it's not driver error, as the car is automatic. A full second is quite a lot when touching 10s or under. The GT500 on the other-hand claims a max between 10.5s and 10.0s with standard aero and stock sport tires, the flat 11 Second in the video is likely down to the Manual and tires. With the Golden Ticket package, they do about a max of 10.6s, which Ford also has as their official time. (Though depending on the Spec of the Mustang, they're claimed to do 9.9s or slightly lower by the owners, but I'm unsure about that) I can assume you heard that the Demon was banned at the dragstrip for being too fast, a tidbit that gets spread around a lot, but it's straight up wrong. It wasn't banned for being too fast, it was banned for not having a chute. If your vehicle has a claimed 1/4 mile time under 9 seconds, it needs a chute. I get why people would believe this at first, but come on now, why would a sport all about going fast as possible ban a car for being fast? At the end of the day though, both the Ford and Dodge are god-damn awesome cars, but they're just not made to go against each other. Racing a Redeye (with a 1/4 Mile time of around 10.5-10.0 on proper tires, same as the Ford) would be the play, as the Ford is the direct competitor of it. Alternatively, a Viper GTS would be technically the direct competitor to the GT500 with/without the Golden Ticket package. Though speaking of track cars, the Mustang GTD and Viper ACR. Some more real awesome cars, hands down again. The Viper ACR hits a flat 7-Minute on the Nurburg officially, though the Ford has yet to set an official time. The Mustang hasn't yet, as it's in a developmental state. From my roughly hour of online searching, the GTD has an estimated lap time of around a 7 to a 7 and 20 Seconds, from various videos of the prototypes running the track. While the Viper is blisteringly fast, the Mustang will likely be better when it comes out of the Prototype stage. The Viper is closing in on being 8 years old, and the Mustang has the benefit of that time and tech advancements from it. And the Mustang lacks the 8.4 Liter engine in the front, so it's going to have better weight distribution and handling characteristics, as that should be obvious. The Viper is an awesome car, there is no doubt to it, though it's performance and capabilities are exaggerated. Using the 2017 Ford GT as example, it did a 7 Minute 52 on the Nurburg. This might seem bad, as the Ford is a 500k GT Supercar, though the reality is a lot different. The Ford is a GT Supercar, it's not a die-hard trackcar like the ACR. If you compare the Ford to a Viper GTS, realistically the actual comparison to the Ford with it's more power and less aero, the Ford is 20 Seconds faster. If you correctly compare the ACR, to say a Ford GT w/ the GT3 Aero, it'd likely be effectively the same as the Viper (Hard to tell, as official GT3 times aren't available). Comparing cars, like the GT500 to the Demon, or the GT to the ACR, won't tell you anything about which brand is better. Most cars from a brand want to do a certain thing, like the GT500 being a do-it-all summer toy, or the Demon being made for only the 1/4 Mile. Again, using the Viper ACR as example, it's a track day car. It's not made to be comfortable, not made to be nice to drive, made to be a track monster. The Ford GT is a grand touring Supercar, it's made to be comfortable, has extra tech like the adjustable suspension, and has very limited aero- basically the opposite of the ACR. As a final note, don't trust online 1/4 Mile times all that much. You google "2021 GT500 1/4 Mile time" and it often says 12 seconds, as it brings up the older early 2000s models for some reason. Ontop of that, you get people claiming their car is stock, but it has an extra magical 200 horsepower. Recently I had someone show me a video of an SS Camaro beating a GT350, then claiming the Ford was trash. Noticeably, the Chevy had two turbochargers. Furthermore is driver error. While in vehicles like the Demon, they're automatic, so the difference between a bad run and a perfect run isn't very much. In vehicles like the Mustang which are manual, it's much more driver dependent. Good on you for making it through, actually reading things is a rare trait now-a-days. Treat yourself a bit, have a good day.
@@yeetimusputimus1985 Clearly you missed the entire point. I understand, seeing your username, reading comprehension likely isn't your strong. I'll dumb it down greatly, just for you. The point being- comparing the two cars isn't helpful, neither car are made to compete and are built for different things. Demon faster in 1/4 Mile. GT500 slower than Demon because pony car, not drag car. GT500 not made to compete with Demon, compete with Redeye- which make fair race. If you're talking about the Viper (Doubt you made it that far), I'll do it for the Viper. Viper ACR very very fast. Ford GT also fast, but not made to be track car like ACR. Viper GTS more like Ford GT. But Ford GT with track parts more like ACR. New Mustang might be faster than ACR, because newer. The fact that people think a GT500 can compete against a Demon 170 on a straight is hilarious. Even the Super Stock put buses on that GT500. Venom can’t kill a demon… This is like a get back to how GTs pick on R/Ts lmao
I know the GT500 can't compete with a Demon 170 but to be fair to the Mustang, that grey Super Stock was definitely modified running a 8.3 in the 1/4! Factory Super Stocks are claimed to do a 10.5 and that is right on par with the GT500's 1/4 mile time.
@@deviantarsenal You’re right, it is modded. However it’s also the principle of the car, it’s built for the strip, the GT500 is more track oriented, and if more evenly compared to a hellcat redeye, has about the same power to the wheels but still less torque and overall peak. Weight definitely plays a role, but they’re really not that much far apart considering how they’re both shaped and the power to weight ratio between the two. What the Challenger has in weight, it makes up for in power and torque, and frankly comfortability and interior room. It also uses it’s weight to its advantage by throwing all of it’s weight back onto it’s rear wheels to better utilize it’s monstrous torque, which is why they have softer tuned suspension compared to the competition, and largely why they don’t like corners the way they do. So there’s that disadvantage going for the GT500 at the strip. While the GT500 is just as capable at accepting mods, the Challenger is always going to be the best option for your dollar if all you want is straight line speed; It’s what they’re built for. That aside, it sucks FCA sold out to Stellantis taking the Dodge and SRT division with them, who also mandated that the HEMI must go. These engines were a substantial part of automotive history, and Ford is lucky they could remain an independent corporation and thought ahead with the MACH-E to save the V8 Mustangs. I guess only time will tell how well the new EVs and six packs will hold up.
@@djz3bra yea I'm disappointed in the route Stellantis decided to take Dodge. I understand they're being pressured by the government to build EV's but from what I understand, they still could've kept the Hemi's. I think it was the Stellantis CEO that wouldn't allow Dodge to buy any regulatory emission credits for the Hemi engines. It's a shame to see such a legendary engine just disappear. At least it did go out with a helluva bang because the Demon 170 is an absolute beast! I am kind of anxious to see what can be done with the Hurricane inline 6cyl once they crack em and start tuning and upgrading them. I'm still kind of skeptical of the EV's and the way they'll be implemented. I've seen rumors of EV's pushing subscription based access to power, which I have no clue if that is legit but concerning nonetheless. I believe Direct Connection has a means to upgrade power levels of the new EV Charger through software updates. So I'm not sure what will happen with all that. I guess we'll see soon enough.
@@deviantarsenal Yeah it was definitely a mix of both. Tightening emissions regulations, and Stellantis seeing it too difficult to justify continuing to sell these gas devouring beasts of engines due to these regulations. Mind you, Stellantis is headquartered in Amsterdam, where greenhouse gas emissions are taken as high priority, so it makes sense why they wouldn’t want them on the roads overseas given their circumstances. While we have less strict regulations here, I think they have to adjust to where they can sell overseas, and not be held responsible for these cars and their emissions, which sucks for us who like a big badass V8, but it’s the way the world is going with climate concerns. As far as the Six Pack and EV, I too want to at least see its mod potential. And for the EVs if we were to have to pay for more power, that definitely would not go down well with buyers lol, Let’s hope that will just remain a rumor. That would be like if you bought a refrigerator and had to pay extra to unlock the freezer lmao. I have a feeling these new EVs might grow on me, but I just can’t justify as someone who’s been into cars my whole life actually enjoying an EV, at least not yet. I know i’m not the only one who just always has seen them as lifeless. But who knows, maybe Dodge will change the game, or maybe EVs will flop all together and engines will make a comeback lol, after all the increase of lithium and cobalt mining process has proven worse for the environment. It’s kind of a funny relationship Dodge has had with the Challenger, we’re almost in like a futuristic replay of 1974! Only this time it’s like a weird hybrid between the Charger and Challenger lol.

It doesn't count if you can't put it down.

(Though depending on the Spec of the Mustang, they're claimed to do 9.9s or slightly lower by the owners, but I'm unsure about that)
I can assume you heard that the Demon was banned at the dragstrip for being too fast, a tidbit that gets spread around a lot, but it's straight up wrong.
Holy crap, all that to make an excuse for a car.
(It'd be like comparing a Pickup Truck to a Hatchback in a towing competition) Hell, I even praised the Demon at least seven times.
Kinda shocked you didn't pick up on that, but I highly doubt you read more than the first paragraph- as if you did you wouldn't have felt the need for that remark. (As most of it was about the automotive world, rather than the Demon vs GT500).
I'll use nice and small words, maybe you can understand that- doubtful, but I'll try.
Demon made to 1/4 Mile.

Only this time it’s like a weird hybrid between the Charger and Challenger lol.

dodge is dodge👑💎💎💎i love it my dream car
Dang, a circuit track car got beat by a drag car at a drag event.
The excuses you piss poor ford boys come up with is crazy. Muscle vs muscle 💀
HEMIII🗣️
meanwhile code red laughing at the corner
Code red code red i repeat code red. This mustangs are running street tires.
That super stock pulled demon 170 time
And all these videos I'd certainly like to see the end result like the time and speed... Or don't bother
You do realize the times are on the big screens at the FL correct🤣 top times are right lane! Nobody cares about speed its reaction times, shifting and boost that matters here. Without those you aint gonna get the speed anyway.
Don’t see not one built car. It’s a shame everyone buys new cars and thinks they’re fast.
Because the factory cars are fast. They're more reliable, have a warranty, insurance actually accepts them, and a stock car has a personality that tuned cars don't. I'm sure you just wouldn't get it. People like you just want big numbers
GT 500 is Stout but not compared to Red eye SS OR a Demon. Let’s wait and see what the New 2025 GT 500 does. The GT 500 is done,…. For now…
Mustang tour that demon up.
Superstock gotta be modded
The shelby got dusted like sht
The purple car lost, but won.WTF. NEED BETTER CAMERA
Gt 500 got gapped and it had a 2 second head start 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Aren't those cars supposed to hit 8s? Still going to lose to a Plaid......
These Demons do horribly, rarely ever what's written on paper and it gotta be setup perfectly.
Dodge cars might as well come without a steering wheel lol. They’re only good in a straight line
The redeye got tested by Edmunds and only had a 3 second difference on a track, and a redeye is a drag car.
@@yeetimusputimus19853 seconds is a lot for track racing. A .3 difference can be an entire car length behind 3 seconds can be as much as 30 feet depending on the car class
Jesus, drag race please help me I'm confused?
