I’ve seen my friends cars pushing around 700-800 to the tires that would destroy that vette and give the Plaid a run for it’s money when taking power to weight into the equation. Doesn’t seem to matter if it’s a modified Porsche, GTR, vette or M3 or M4 on this channel… they always break and/ or don’t perform on the level of the claimed power numbers. For reference one of my buddies had a STOCK Challenger Super Stock ( with the demon engine) and consistently ran 10.3s in the quarter. Maybe it’s the CarWow curse 💪🏿🇺🇸🔥🇺🇸🔥🇺🇸🔥👍🏿

I’ve seen all kinds of builds whether it’s a big block LS, 4 rotor RX-7s, supercharged Mustangs and insane kit builds and NONE of them break down like these cars do. I had a heavily modified LS2 GTO that I used to daily drive (until the bus hit me) that had over 215k miles on it and was still pulling like a freight train. Seemed like it was getting the power down on the launches decently enough…you could hear it missing from the exhaust and was probably cutting timing mid run and not making much more than 600hp peak. Oh wellllllll
It depends a lot of who is doing it. The ones falling apart are not used enough time and money in it to get it to the point. But you could take a 1000hp car which is delivered with it and it will not have the slightest problem

@freshhard2guess303 Yeah, but the example is 1200hp... not so reliable. As for most people who can't build and maintain their own cars, there are some huge differences. My particular point as a mechanical person is when the replacement / repair time comes. On EVs, the replacement of the major components (battery, motor) is very easy to accomplish, and no parts have had 100s of thousands of miles with enormous temperature swings on the components. On an 800hp gas motor, that will not be the case, and replacing or rebuilding is only the last step in constant maintenance that must happen along the way. When it is time, however, everything is wrecked, wires are brittle hoses are weak, parts are bolted on everywhere, and some of those bolts aren't coming out. As for 'time charging' it is really a joke in the end. I spend zero minutes charging %99 of the time since the car just gets plugged in in the driveway. Compared to all the time of 'stopping for gas' it is literally pointless to talk about any time spent making a pit stop on a long trip and plugging the car in.
People have ran tens of thousands of miles on triple the corvettes power, i know guys who daily 1500hp mustangs. If you have to rebuild a motor after 500 miles that’s on you.
@@aaronb7990a gas motor can be serviced at any shop. Not all shops service or have the permission to work on some evs. Go on a 3k mile trip and see how convenient your charging grid accommodates you.

It's a fake sound effect emitted from speakers... all electric cars have this as it's legally required to have speakers that alert pedestrians to your presence because the motors themselves make very little noise.

The locked TCMs on the C8s is definitely a huge disadvantage with getting the big HP C8s to power forward smoothly. Can't wait for that to be unlocked. It wasn't too long ago that unlocking the ECM came available. Hopefully it won't be much longer for the TCM to be done.
its set up for drag class rules, requiring a parachute to make multiple passes at or above 150mph in the quarter, and or below 10 seconds. iirc so its essentially a stock plaid, but one that wont get kicked out after the first run at the drag strip. Some strips wont let plaids run at all without a chute, they have notoriously poor brakes even at the first application, because the car uses painfully poor brake components as its only source of traction control. did you know the plaid doesn't even have DOT3 brake fluid? The brake pads are super low temp as well lol...its like they are purposely trying to kill their owners.
Tesla Model S Plaid can run a 9.5 second quarter. There is no factory car that can compete with it. It can also corner better because all of the weight is right on the ground.
This modified Plaid is not for straight line speed as you can see huge front splitter and spoiler which only add more drag, so i believe it is designed to do well at the track and high speed cornering ability.

@tjtvi I'm a mechanic and work on both ICE and EV. I've replaced some horrendously expensive components on the EV stuff. Like, you could buy a decent second hand car for the price of the component, well into 5 figures cost wise. They can, and do go wrong, and when they do, it's either cripplingly expensive or a fire that burns for 5 days.

There should be a way to make the battery produce more power because supposedly the motors arent the limitation, but the batteries anility to supply enough energy since its the same battery as the LR. You can increase power while reducing capacity by changing up the series parallel configuration. you could upgrade the firmware, increase the wire guage for more power input, and upgrade the cooling for the battery. This would lead to hopefully maxing out the plaid's motor potential at the cost of a little bit of weight for heavier wiring, and reduced range.

My motor makes 800hp. Ran it 10k so far. plan on running it for another 50k. Depends on how well you build the motor.

As for most people who can't build and maintain their own cars, there are some huge differences.
My particular point as a mechanical person is when the replacement / repair time comes. On EVs, the replacement of the major components (battery, motor) is very easy to accomplish, and no parts have had 100s of thousands of miles with enormous temperature swings on the components.
On an 800hp gas motor, that will not be the case, and replacing or rebuilding is only the last step in constant maintenance that must happen along the way. When it is time, however, everything is wrecked, wires are brittle hoses are weak, parts are bolted on everywhere, and some of those bolts aren't coming out.
As for 'time charging' it is really a joke in the end.
I spend zero minutes charging %99 of the time since the car just gets plugged in in the driveway. Compared to all the time of 'stopping for gas' it is literally pointless to talk about any time spent making a pit stop on a long trip and plugging the car in.
People have ran tens of thousands of miles on triple the corvettes power, i know guys who daily 1500hp mustangs. If you have to rebuild a motor after 500 miles that’s on you.
@@aaronb7990a gas motor can be serviced at any shop. Not all shops service or have the permission to work on some evs. Go on a 3k mile trip and see how convenient your charging grid accommodates you.
Plain and simple, the Tesla smoked the Vette. Long after the launch, the Tesla was pulling away from it. It out braked it too. Maybe a modified E-Ray would fare better.

It's a fake sound effect emitted from speakers... all electric cars have this as it's legally required to have speakers that alert pedestrians to your presence because the motors themselves make very little noise.

The locked TCMs on the C8s is definitely a huge disadvantage with getting the big HP C8s to power forward smoothly. Can't wait for that to be unlocked. It wasn't too long ago that unlocking the ECM came available. Hopefully it won't be much longer for the TCM to be done.

The drag parachute is not specifically mounted for this quarter mile race.
its set up for drag class rules, requiring a parachute to make multiple passes at or above 150mph in the quarter, and or below 10 seconds. iirc so its essentially a stock plaid, but one that wont get kicked out after the first run at the drag strip. Some strips wont let plaids run at all without a chute, they have notoriously poor brakes even at the first application, because the car uses painfully poor brake components as its only source of traction control. did you know the plaid doesn't even have DOT3 brake fluid? The brake pads are super low temp as well lol...its like they are purposely trying to kill their owners.
Tesla Model S Plaid can run a 9.5 second quarter. There is no factory car that can compete with it. It can also corner better because all of the weight is right on the ground.

No difference. Carwow has already run a stock Plaid and it ran the same time, 9.6s. Anywhere else the Plaid runs 9.2s easily.
This modified Plaid is not for straight line speed as you can see huge front splitter and spoiler which only add more drag, so i believe it is designed to do well at the track and high speed cornering ability.

@tjtvi I'm a mechanic and work on both ICE and EV. I've replaced some horrendously expensive components on the EV stuff. Like, you could buy a decent second hand car for the price of the component, well into 5 figures cost wise. They can, and do go wrong, and when they do, it's either cripplingly expensive or a fire that burns for 5 days.

There should be a way to make the battery produce more power because supposedly the motors arent the limitation, but the batteries anility to supply enough energy since its the same battery as the LR.
You can increase power while reducing capacity by changing up the series parallel configuration. you could upgrade the firmware, increase the wire guage for more power input, and upgrade the cooling for the battery.
This would lead to hopefully maxing out the plaid's motor potential at the cost of a little bit of weight for heavier wiring, and reduced range.
