The water temple seeks to absolutely break you as a player

How many heart related problems did this temple give out for this association that treats heart conditions to acknowledge this one parody video of a video game?

Your the american heart association. Please don't give your self a heart attack trying to remember THIS temple.
I love the dedication to including every single boot swap. That’s the real essence of the Water Temple.
At least it wasn't just me who thought it made no sense that we gain and lose sinkability just by opening a menu to put our boots on and take them off cause they'd still weigh us down if they're in our bag.
Now we definitely know, that the series is not based on the 3DS remake.
Not to mention that every time he puts on or takes off iron boots, the equipment changes.
I think he actually missed a few
Unless you played on the ds
perfectly accurate to the real game that shadow link completely stole the show compared to the actual dungeon boss
Lmao true
I thought that dark link was the main boss and that the ball thing was like a mini boss.
right? Dark Link was a challenge and you had to try every bag in the trick to beat him. And then once you get the hammer you go OHHHHHH. Actual dungeons boss? I just stood in a corner and wait for it to slowly come near and hookshot, smack it with the MS .rinse and repeat. Nobody actually fought it on the four squares... right?

I technically cheated because I was one of those corner seekers, so I had Jin's Fire. Dark Link couldn't touch me at all.
but Morpha was so hard 😭
@@jinsoulnoodles Until you figure out what to do, Morpha can be kind a scary even though it only really has 2 attacks (grab and contact in water). The grab does a lot of damage.
@@DoktorVicTim i realised that i could have made it a lot easier for myself by targeting the red thing with the long shot, but instead i didn’t target it and it was a lot harder. lmao
still hard even with targeting it though
and yes the grabbing does so much damage
The fact that we thought Shiek was safe when Link was getting torn apart, only for them to immediately switch targets is the perfect punchline to a year-long setup. Bravo, TM.
My prediction is that Sheik will be completely unrecognizable by the end of the series from getting clawed and stabbed so many times
Zelda will just be pissed off at link for injuring her over and over again at the reveal.😂

What I love about these are how close they get to describing something frustrating, yet endearing, about the game. "You have to navigate and invisible fire maze where you almost walk through it before knowing if it's safe." Or "you had to pause the screen like a million times for the iron boots on water temple." The fights, the puzzles, common places for mistakes depicted perfectly.

the bit with the little kids telling him where to go was just so adorable, and that it was just played straight, just a cute little wholesome moment. i loved that a lot.
Never thought a wholesome blues clues reference would be in any of these its great
Link freaking out when Dark Link started to say "well excuse me, princess" had me dying.
THATS WHAT HE SAID??
Yeah I thought Link was freaking out because Dark Link was coming onto him and he doesn't swing that way. (The part where Dark Link says "excuuuuse" looking like he was puckering his lips certainly helped facilitate that notion.)

I think we know why this video specifically took as long as it did.
It was animated in realtime alongside playing it, _it just took that long._
The fact that every pause trades one equipment item for one from another game series is the textbook definition of dedication, great work TM ❤
You did it. You actually did it. You PERFECTLY illustrated every frustration of the Water Temple
Never played it but I felt it!
Now it’s only a matter of time until the Shadow Temple.
It shall go on the board with Arin Hanson screaming "F*%KING CLAMS!!!"
You know, despite the jokes, I honestly think this is the best animated depiction of Water Temple, the constant menu pausing, the frustation of missing a key and all of the CONFUSED MAZENESS of this freaking dungeon. Great job Terminal :]
Yeah it was.. Totally Accurate!
Question, where did you find the missing key? For me it was in the second floor in the room where you met up with Hot Ruto.

I dunno why yt can't fix that
This was the hardest temple for us all, thanks for taking my pain and splatting it on a canvas
The part where he couldn't find the last key really got me
😂
This really is the quintessential Water Temple experience.
The constant pausing to change boots, missing the LAST KEY EVERY SINGLE TIME EVEN THOUGH YOU’VE DONE IT BEFORE, getting jumped endlessly by the Tektites and Clams, always forgetting about the passageway down from the central tower, it’s all here.
It was absolutely worth the wait for this one. Terminal cooks again, the man just never misses.
the 3DS version fixes wo of these problems. You still have to keep attention to the bomb wall where you meet with Ruto, but boots became normal items and the secret passage is pointed out directly.
I got horribly lost in the Water Temple and I used a fucking gamefaq
Yeah, 9:20 - 10:20 really brought back that rage and despair I thought I had dealt with after years of therapy😆
Why is this a reference to an Asterix and Obelix movie
@@dorianwiesner4477Glad I have the 3DS port
Also it helps to get the compass to know where all the chests are
I love how it even shows the menu from in game to have Link swap to the water boots, which definitely gives off to how tedious the Water Temple can truly be.
the little item swaps in the menu got me chuckling lol
So happy the 3DS version lets you assign the boots to a button.
Yeah, I'm glad Nintendo learned from that and didn't make swapping armor super tedious in their last few titles, would have sucked if you had to scroll through a massive list of outfits every time you wanted to swim or go someplace hot.
And also, because technically put boots in a bag doesn't change your weight. So, these boots are saved in another dimension.

That FREAKIN' hole in the floor drove me to insanity as a child. Thank you for highlighting the sheer madness of this dungeon so perfectly.
that is the sole reason everyone hates the water temple.
I'm surprised that it wasn't the last key in the video.
I can't remember that one key being so hard to find.
I was so mad when i played the 3DS remake and the camera focus that hole when you raise the water level XD
@@Dracker2006 The original does that too. When the water level is going up, the camera deliberately switch to an angle where you can see the floating platform float up and observe the gap under it. That's why we should all feel foolish for not paying attention. That, and the map that shows a room UNDER you that is not visited yet.
I got so insanely frustrated I dropped the game for 2 years, came back on a whim and solved it in an.hour and felt like the dumbest kid born.

That one stupid key is the reason this dungeon took me a month to complete as a kid. Even with a strategy guide.
As a kid? I thought you were still working on it. :)
I'm glad I'm not the only one who suffered. For me it was the pathway you're supposed to go to behind the long shot treasure chest that leads you to a key. I could never find it as a kid and I almost never beat the game.

Dark link was an absolute monster (espically compared to the main boss lol). A cunning "mini boss" who almost out did the hero... until Ruto showed up. I love how he stood by the tree, waiting for Link to turn around. He did some crazy stunts and abilities. He didn't even let Link escape compared to the other mini bosses in locked rooms. You actually encapsulated every thing annoying fking thing about this dungeon. The boot swapping, the floating center pillar hole area that *everyone* misses, the scouring for the boss key; the lot. You can tell you really did have this experience when you were younger with the rest of us. Absolutely incredible video!!!
Thank the Lord they fixed the boot switching in the 3DS version
I recently replayed this game and was tempted to look up cheat codes just to get past the stupid temple
when i was 12ish i remember i constantly thought i was somehow softlocking myself in the dungeon and restarted the game several times only to just waltz around and find that mf hole in the center area
You captured the essence of the dungeon 100%.
That or you suffered three times as much as normal at that time.
The humour of this little series is killingly funny. What gets me every time without fail is the surrealism and subverted expectation when something is simply not animated, the most obvious example being when Link touches the chainlink fence to commence climbing but a still frame of him glides smoothly up the fence while the sounds of climbing are being made. It delights me to no end to see what a video game model animation error become an intentional joke in an animated cartoon. Thank you all very much for making this and sharing it. This genuinely makes me wish I could purchase a copy and have it framed on my wall so any viewer can experience the same giggle fest that almost made me spit my tea over my laptop.
You hit every point perfectly. The pause equipping, missing the hidden room in the central pillar, the constant tektikes. I even recognized immediately where Link had forgotten to get a key the moment the wandering montage happened. The attention paid to all the small details of this place is amazing.
I thought for sure it was the key on the 2nd floor of the room where you meet Ruto

It took me and my brother over 2 years to find that blasted key inside the center pillar after raising the water and that water platform. We reset the game multiple times thinking we missed something. That whole scene of Link looking everywhere for the missing key was basically me and my brother for over 2 years. @@squatchjosh1131please tell me someone made a “make the c buttons item hotkeys” mod already

Is no one talking about how amazing the graphics are!? Bro did that for us! 😧
The music is wonderful in this short, very impressed! Especially the constant changing of ethereal calming ambience with the enemy music, took me back.
That final realization he doesn’t have the key at the end of the dungeon hits deep. The painful backtracking is the one thing I remember about this temple, besides the Shadow Link fight.
I love how this is basically a walkthrough of the Water Temple. And Dark Link's cursed rendition of the cartoon catchphrase absolutely killed me.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing it felt like a walkthrough 😂😂
This is the best walkthrough of the OOT water temple I've ever seen!
Fun fact dark Link is pale at the start because he's just your reflection, but the more you fight, the darker he gets because he's learning to fight from you which makes him harder the more you fight. That's why you need to use what he can't copy to beat him like megaton hammer, din's fire or the strongest way to beat him is the biggoron sword. Absolutely love every details put in the video, mostly searching for the missing key which I've live through that moment and used so much time.
Love how not only did you animate the pause menu for EVERY SINGLE TIME you had to change boots, but the fact that those little segments are loaded with references. I saw the Estus Flask and the Monster Hunter Potion too!
Fi was there too, and Sly Cooper's cane. And his Goron Tunic had the face hole ripped in it from the Fire Temple too. This was great
He also had an among us reference too haha
Don't forget Ezio's Hood too! it was awesome.
I saw an Amogus during the panic sequence
There was a maid outfit in there too.
I feel represented in this animation for the simple fact that the damn key that leads to the game's progression is well hidden in the water temple, I spent hours looking for that key to get the boss key. The pains I went through will never be forgotten.
Same here. I spent a fucking eternity trying to find that cursed key. God I hate the water temple.
Wait til/if you have kids and 'they' want to beat OoT. 😂😵💫
I played the 3DS version, and I felt the same pain looking for that darn key. It took me hours to look for it
I'm glad I'm not alone.
THE MOST RELATABLE VIDEO IN GAMING
Thanks for all you do, Jeremy & team.
The ear flick of annoyance at 10:02 was so good. Any game where you're missing the last dungeon key and you swear you checked every room is maddening.
I reached the epitome of that in the TP water temple. Since the boss door is so far away, I didn't realize it was a boss key door, I thought I needed another Small Key. I searched the entire dungeon trying to find something that didn't even exist.
Toads.
I'm happy you captured the pain of having to reequip/unequip the iron boots everytime you wanted to enter/exit the water so perfectly.
Remaster players can't relate.
You watch these videos for enjoyment, I watch them as a tutorial. We are not the same
I love how confusing this is for someone who knows nothing about the game, and the fact that even though it basically shows the whole story it doesnt spoil it
Wow you really brought back the magic! The old sound effects and everything!
Ooooo, its like where's Waldo! Yay to surprise Abigail sightings :)
I like how Shadow Link just said “Well Excuseeeeeeeee me” but really slowed down
And also the captions putting down the description and symptoms of high stress when Link was backtracking was hilarious. Well played with that
This was so we'll accurate. It could've been nothing but Link switching boots all day, but you even got those annoying Tektite headcrab bastards harassing you, the Dark Link standing on your sword detail, and of course, the game going, "Let me guess. You didn't get the compass, did you?" And all for a boss at the end that you just bitchslap in a corner. Truly magnificent.
5:49 I love the Blue’s Clues reference! It’s fitting too, as Link is blue in this temple.
It’s so good, my childhood actually unlocked for a sec there
Best moment in the video.
