It's another kind of flex when your video is sponsored by Google on a Google product (RUclips). This is probably the first RUclips video I've seen with a "This video is sponsored by Google intro". You've earned it Dave2D. You're my inspiration.
I remember a great erasure tool as part of the stock photo editor in the first Note 1. Great use as I could remove personal information from medical images for my blog. However Samsung killed it with a software update! I remember then getting a 3rd party app from the play store. But nothing beats something built into the stock app.
I have a Pixel 7 , and S23U, and I find myself using the Pixel 7 more. One hand usability is way better and the camera is quicker and takes better night shots for text in the dark. Also the tools for it are just awesome. Use it all the time when I'm working as I work nights. Pixel 7 isn't good for gaming so don't even go there but that's why I have 2 devices. Both have strengths and weaknesses.
Since you're talking about the Google Photos app specifically, I have to mention one inexplicably annoying thing about it: The fact that by default, it categorizes every photo from every source under one really random Camera Roll, when the pictures are clearly saved at different destination folders in the phone's storage, Camera, Facebook (Especially Annoying), WhatsApp, Screenshots, Downloads, even Google Drive pictures from older phones, you name it, it is all grouped under "Camera Roll", and not to mention that in doing so, it actually takes up all the quota of your cloud storage as well. Albums are a thing but it's different than categories by folders or destinations in the phone's directory, and again you would actually have to browse through that entire clusterf*** of files from every source known to mankind to even create those albums. Honestly that alone forced me to download a 3rd party Gallery app just so I can make my life so much easier in that regard. I'm no developer but I can't imagine fixing that would be that difficult, it's plagued the thing ever since it came out.
Sponsored by....Google? That's a tough one. I'm all for a creator getting paid (especially you, Dave; i feel like the quality of your content far exceeds the size of your channel, which is far from 'small;' nonetheless i think you still don't quite get the credit you deserve), but it's a little tough when the creator reviews products from that company (amongst others, of course) for a living. Now, I trust Dave2D. I know this isn't a review, and I also know for sure this one sponsored piece would do nothing to slant your views of Google phones in the future. I am just saying, I hope this is a one off. Once that doubts seeps in (see Lew's video counts the past 12 months; that channel is going down, fast, and it's due to all of his content being sponsored by the company whose product he's reviewing), it's tough to come back. I don't want that to happen to this channel. This channel is too important, and selfishly, i enjoy it too much.
A reviewer being given review units doesn't make that a sponsored video so I'm not sure what you're talking about. The majority of his videos aren't sponsored by the company he's reviewing.
i bought a pixel 6 just before my sisters wedding and the amount of great photos I was able to get using these was astonishing. i filled up the entire wedding in my phone and believe it or not the entire family unanimously loves my photos above the professional guy we hired bcz of how much random things i could just zip out in couple of seconds and get a sorta usable photo

Magic eraser has been in the stock Samsung gallery app for a long time along with reflection eraser, remastering (like Photoshop auto edit) and they work well! When you have great zoom capabilities you can creatively crop people out of the frame.

Hi Dave. Excellent video. We were having a long chat about your videos the other day, after watching many studio setups (about 50) yours came up as our favourite. I have a Pixel 7 and have tried this feature a fair bit. Personally, I think its pretty crap and nothing like this SPONSORED video. It leaves such a mess behind in the photos alot of the time or rough / jagged edges that actually spoil the photo. You could be squiggling the eraser around for hours on end trying to correct stuff and it still won't look right.
So not only is this video regarding Google Pixel's camera sponsored by Google themselves, which makes everything you say automatically questionable, but then you also on purpose very conveniently leave out the fact that these features you're speaking of and praising through the roof are not unique to Google Pixel phones but also exists on many other phones as well.. That's just straight up manipulative and scummy, I really did expect better from you.
I have the pixel 7 pro. I do not like this phone. It's buggy, random issues pop up. Video audio keeps playing in the background, even if apps are all closed. The battery is awful. I turn off Bluetooth and 5g, just to get through the day, with heavy or moderate use. There is a reason iPhone is so popular
Ya. But i m not buying pixel bcz of these 2 Features. I have pixel 6A and I just to go back to Samsung. UI sucks. Battery sucks. Camera is overrated. My friend with apple n Samsung takes better photos. Miss so many features I used to use in samsung
If it is in the Google Photos app, is it aavaaialble for other brand of Android too and iOS? How about PC and Mac, why AI stuffs didnt happen over there much or did I missed something, I do know it happen on Apple Silicon or even Intel Mac
I just install photoshop directly to my phone and always keep my phone hooked up to my wacom tablet. That way I always have all the photo editing features I need on a phone.
Wait im confused, your saying its baked into the phone, but also saying in the google phots app? So is this a feature thats exclusive to the phone or can other android devices use this feature with a google photos update or something ?
But when we look back at these edited photos we will be looking at the edited versions of the pictures and not the exact memory we had, wont they? For example if we remove the people from there but thats what our memories would remember right
Why not talk about the elephant in the room man? You do know that any non pixel can now get magic eraser as long as they're a Google one subscriber? Which at this day and age more and more people are?

The unblur is alright in my mind but the other two are really weird.
People were there, why remove them? Take a different angle or work the people being there into the pic. It‘s a really weird mindset „cleaning up“ vacation photos imo.
I've always found taking pictures to be dumb anyway. Much prefer how I remember things in my head.
Those magic eraser places looks shit to be honest. I don’t think that there is one photo that I would say it was great looking
Stopped watching at "Sponsored By Google".
Straight up mentioning that the video is sponsored. That's what we want. Transparency.
Someone who gets it!
I want that wallpaper 😍
1:25 Disagreed, I'll take my truthful vacation pictures over this blurry A.I. editing any day
It's wild how Google can't make a phone that captures a sizeable portion of the market with all of the resources at their disposal
It’s because there phones are pure garbage. Can’t even last a day and pretty terrible oversharpened overprocessed “images”
Pixel 7 user here since launch. This video is so disappointing. Plenty of reasons to love the phone but those two are pure garbage. Good to see straight away it is sponsored video but it clear that you do not daily this phone as ppl suggest but the title suggests that and thats even more disappointing
Why would you remove those people? Those are part of the memories so removing them kinda make your picture unreal and fake.
Tbh I absolutely would prefer a random person in my vacation photo to some messed up AI stairs. Unless this tool gets way better I can’t see myself using it.
There's something so refreshing about owning a product that even Dave raves about.
Haven't even seen the review yet, but the notification was enough to make me smile. Thank you, Dave ❤
Word ❤
Yeah I have the pixel 7 and it made me smile
Even if we subscribe for Google one , we can get this features on other phones too !
It's another kind of flex when your video is sponsored by Google on a Google product (RUclips). This is probably the first RUclips video I've seen with a "This video is sponsored by Google intro". You've earned it Dave2D. You're my inspiration.
I can do these things with my iPhone 13 Pro Max. With Google One Subscription and Google Photos app downloaded. :(
I remember a great erasure tool as part of the stock photo editor in the first Note 1. Great use as I could remove personal information from medical images for my blog. However Samsung killed it with a software update! I remember then getting a 3rd party app from the play store. But nothing beats something built into the stock app.
Dave are you ok and healthy i am not seeing you for 3 weeks you haven't reviewed Asus g14 and Lenovo legion laptops.please launch new videos
Both have strengths and weaknesses.
how bout camera quality in point and shoot? still better Pixel 7 than S23Ultra?
Very fair comment.
@@Alinoviajuni2018 daytime pics the s23u is superior. Night time I use the pixel 7. Overall seems to take better night shots.
When it comes to tech purchase decisions, I will never NOT take this man's advice. Been a fan for 7 years now
I will never trust sponsored reviews instead ;)
I never encourage watching sponsored videos 😮
the eraser looks awful, even if you weren't pixel peeking the pictures its so noticeablely distorted. no shot people actually use that feature lmao
If I squint my eyes really tight, Dave looks like Jungkook from BTS. 💜
"this video is sponsored by Google" ight imma head out
Oh no
Me watching this on my P7Pro:
Yup I love the pixel, but I'm still paying it off monthly 😭👹
I had this phone . Number of bugs drove me nuts and I switched to S23 Ultra. From then on it’s been a walk in the park. The best smartphone ever.
Magic Eraser legitimately looks horrible compared to the generative AI capabilities of Photoshop.
Since you're talking about the Google Photos app specifically, I have to mention one inexplicably annoying thing about it:
The fact that by default, it categorizes every photo from every source under one really random Camera Roll, when the pictures are clearly saved at different destination folders in the phone's storage, Camera, Facebook (Especially Annoying), WhatsApp, Screenshots, Downloads, even Google Drive pictures from older phones, you name it, it is all grouped under "Camera Roll", and not to mention that in doing so, it actually takes up all the quota of your cloud storage as well.
Good camera but horrible modem.
Had to return mine because couldn't make or receive half of the calls.
All of these features are available in the iOS Google Photos app too, no need to buy a new phone.
i bought a pixel 6 just before my sisters wedding and the amount of great photos I was able to get using these was astonishing. i filled up the entire wedding in my phone and believe it or not the entire family unanimously loves my photos above the professional guy we hired bcz of how much random things i could just zip out in couple of seconds and get a sorta usable photo
@Dave2D But did you notice, photos app's magic erase / AI based features decreases image quality by a big margin? I am using Mi 10T.
Yeah, I noticed image quality takes a hit when these features are used on my Pixel 7.
Why Dave why a sponsored video ?! 😭 Don't become the OnePlus of TechTubers - start out great and then turn to shit
Yet another person who doesn't understand a sponsored video here and there has no effect on non-sponsored videos from *good* RUclipsrs
you can do the same in google photos later on .. dont need the phone specifically for this
I completely disagree with you for the first time. Removing people from your photos is like removing the audience from a concert. It makes cities look empty, events look dull and festivals look fake. Unblur tool is more in line with what could be useful for people, but I haven't used magic eraser since forever.
Agree. It's removing life from the image. Just what AI is doing to our society.
I feel its subjective preference, so I won't judge him on that..
garbage, you don't need a pixel 7 to have this feature
Magic eraser has been in the stock Samsung gallery app for a long time along with reflection eraser, remastering (like Photoshop auto edit) and they work well! When you have great zoom capabilities you can creatively crop people out of the frame.
In my experience Samsung's implementation is not that great, but its still a nice tool to have by default. Kudos for Samsung for that.
@@lloydpbabuHaving used both, I can't find Google's one better 🤷🏽♂️
you didnt mention how samsung the same tools and even better tbh
I own and use the P7 on a daily basis. Yeah its awesome these things are there but I think more magical is the overall experience that Pixel offers.
Just now, got an notification that I should expect traffic heading home and recommended another route. Now that's magic right there.
Update: I'm having more and more bugs showing up, especially connectivity issues. It's very distressing.
Hi Dave. Excellent video.
We were having a long chat about your videos the other day, after watching many studio setups (about 50) yours came up as our favourite.
Very curious, how did you come up with the bunker design, side window and lighting? Did you employ a designer, or do the designs yourself?
Have a great week ahead.
Rocking the pixel 6a and using these features all the time. I get the best reactions on my Instagram. Anyways, Dave love your setup and the lighting. Just a little thing that i could hear the room eco through my earplugs and just a tad bit irritating. I don't know if everyone could notice it. But i guess a little bit of sound treatment would be good. But who am I to complain. Love your videos. Precise and clean.
I have pixel 6a too. Do you have that unblur feature?
@@vishallodhari6871 no it is only in 7 series. Or i guess i never tried editing a blurred picture. But as of now i haven't seen that feature.
I'm really interested in upgrading to a Pixel 6a (from a 2017 Moto G5 Plus lol), but I've seen reports of shitty battery life.
How are things now with Android 13 and so many updates 1yr later?
@@vik1ng313 Slow charging is a thing. Battery life is decent, should last you a day unless you are gaming.
@@vik1ng313 it's a good upgrade for you as you'll still have the stock android experience. Battery life is good for me, it lasts a day. Sometimes I charge at night. I'm currently on Android 14 beta and the battery has slightly improved. In UK I have not experienced battery heating but it can be a case in India with battery drain cos of it. If you are more concerned about the battery then you can think of nothing phone 1.
While i know how important it is for sponsored posts. it's always good to take these "reviews" with a grain of salt since he is a tech influencer and these videos are biased towards google since they are paying him to market their product.
Yep. He also didn’t mention you can do these things on an iphone too, with a google one sub. Kinda misleads the audience by omission. Not his fault, getting paid , I guess
That's why it clearly isn't a review but a feature overview
The tool is not there it's locked behind paywall of Google one duuuh
I have a Pixel 7 and have tried this feature a fair bit. Personally, I think its pretty crap and nothing like this SPONSORED video. It leaves such a mess behind in the photos alot of the time or rough / jagged edges that actually spoil the photo. You could be squiggling the eraser around for hours on end trying to correct stuff and it still won't look right.
We all know he uses an iPhone cmon 😂😂😂😂 also, these two features are now available in Google photos for iOS 🎉
He's well known to be a 2 phone guy like many tech RUclipsrs
How can a tech reviewer put up with the pixel 7s terrible display
Shame the battery, modem, fingerprint print scanner are awful
the wallpaper is so cool. Can you please share the link to it!!!
Dude this haircut makes you look so much older💀
"sponsored by Google" immediately turned off as I can't trust your opinion in this video
That's illogical
Can you share the wallpaper you're using? I like it
0:08 what was the name of the wallpaper?? it's so cool!!
You can use these features on an iPhone with a Google One subscription. You don’t need a pixel
With 3% US marketshare, no doubt they need to sponsor Tech RUclipsrs and even regular influencers lol
This feature is also present in Samsung phones.
Guys which is better in the used market Poco F3 or Oneplus 8 ??? or suggest something else TY
any galaxy phone. better a Korean Spyware than chinese
@@handlehandle12322 what u recomande for 250-300$ ?
I have a Pixel 6a and for those wondering, I only have access to the Blur and Magic Eraser on the latest update of Google Photos. No unblur or sky.
Perfect way to insult your sponsor.😂😂😂
Love the wallpaper, have a link or source?
My iPhone 12 got broken.3:48 the best news. On any pixel phones. So I took my old Pixel 4. Wow its great. Okay its much slower but it works.
This is actually the first google sponsored youtube video I have ever watched
I just install photoshop directly to my phone and always keep my phone hooked up to my wacom tablet. That way I always have all the photo editing features I need on a phone.
Using object eraser in my s22 ultra about an year now. These were not a part of their marketing campaign unlike google
For example if we remove the people from there but thats what our memories would remember right
Stalin would have greatly appreciated this feature.
Lmao nice reference.
Why not talk about the elephant in the room man? You do know that any non pixel can now get magic eraser as long as they're a Google one subscriber? Which at this day and age more and more people are?
