Pixel 7 devices got such a nice update this year. The Zoom is SO good.
Pixel 7 is priced perfectly.
Pixel 7 Pro needs to be reduced.
Still a tough sale for me.
I just want that sick wall paper on your thumbnail for mine.
Is it $300 good though!? I'm so torn between the 2 phones but having a hard time justifying the 7 Pro when the 7 is so good. The zoom is the only difference I care about between the 2.
How long to charge pro 7 from 5% to 100%???
Should I get the 7 or 7 pro this time?
Dave was surprisingly happy reviewing these phones.
I think he was surprisingly nervous for some reason
Google execs were behind the camera pointing a gun at his head.
The same phone as last yeah ( miner updates ) I don't know why he is so happy.
@@HULKHOGAN1 He likely had to get his unboxing vid deleted cos of them so yeah understandable
Because it wasn't an apple product
I’ll usually just watch MKBHD and call it a day when it comes to reviews but I love how Dave can always come in from a different angle and make the video interesting.
MKBHD = basic specs and overview. Dave = More nuanced opinion
If you want a more informed opinion on a product, you're better off to seek out numerous opinions instead of solely basing an opinion on just one person's view.
@@Tigerkem yea I do when I’m buying a product. I watch Dave and Marques because the content is good.
MKBHD is a shill for Apple. Don't know why you would trust him
just came from MKBHD review lol
I've noticed that the pixel 7 series has all the big tech boys just look happy while reviewing them. Tells volumes of how good an experience it is, given that I am usualy satisfied with mid range phones.
They get sent phones by Google. They aren’t buying them because they love them. Idiot
Glad I'm not the only one who thought so!
I think it’s the quality of life improvements that google is aiming for thats really killing it
They look happy because they are making money out of the review lol
Untill the normal people buy it and then all of a sudden all kinds of pixel software bad and glitchy videos pop up. Not trusting Google or these reviewers anymore
Its nice to have the device reviewed based on everyday use but not relying on stupid benchmarking and extreme battery and render tests. Extremely happy and love Dave2D's simple yet insightful review. Thanks man! You rock!!!
And I'm glad he raised issue about longevity. Not just upon purchase. Because that's the real problem with Google phones. Both of my pixels have died on me suddenly after only a year plus. Love at first sight but it made me so jaded about pixels.
I love the way you have your room lit up. Really switches it between clean minimalist and colorful on demand easily with just some colored lights
I find it annoying especially the green light..in the last video the color was good.
It's also the Google colors
Always appreciate you getting straight to the point. It's exciting to hear you get this excited about a new device! But that ominous foreshadowing about the Pixel watch....
I see Gerald had something to do with your back lighting. Looks so much better. Love it Dave!
I don't think the software will be a problem this year. Android12 was glitchy all around, not just on pixel6. On my pixel5, from the beta version all the way till I downloaded the android13 beta, it just felt heavy for the device. Android13, on the other side, has been buttery smooth from the start. It just feels like a different phone altogether.
I haven't updated my phone to Android 13 yet. Nice to know the OS is finally in a good start. I thought android 12 was stable enough and all the buggy experiences were my own fault.
Same for me
My Pixel 5a had major issues with Screen glitches and Auto Rotate after updating to Android 12
Since the A13 update, i found zero to no bugs
It's solid
not even on my P6
I still notice new UI bugs and glitches almost every day on Android 13, sadly. It's annoying the crap out of me
Yea its either android 13 is really good or that 12 was kinda bad. Just upgraded to 13 on my 5a and the phone has been feeling really snappy since
Thank you for going into detail about the screen differences and aluminum scratches. So many reviews are just broad information that doesn't tell me much I don't already know. I think I'm going with the 7 Pro tomorrow.
I saw the behind the scenes where you talked about the RGB and I think it works nicely. Especially with those Google colours
Yeah it was really interesting :D ruclips.net/video/Mlt0EQXWK4Y/видео.html

I absolutely loved my 3XL. It was the perfect size and weight as well. I had so many software issues after using 6Pro (apps weren't performing, little things that drove me crazy). I hate the experience to the point where I'd considered switching back to iphone.
I decided to give the 7 a try since it's the closest to size and weight of the 3XL. Hoping to experience the same satisfaction/joy I had with the 3XL bc I miss it 😭
That makes 2 of us. I almost went iPhone because I didn't feel Google would replicate the 3XL. Hopefully the 7 pro I got can keep me happy!
I just upgraded from the 3XL.. love the 7P so far
5a was a good one
My 3XL died on me on Christmas morning last year. It's my second pixel to have done that. I'm done with pixels no matter how much I loved them.
Really hope the software is better this year on the Pixels! Been really liking what they’re doing with hardware recently.
@loiny zen Awesome! And that sounds kind of annoying. My iPhone 11 usually needs to be adjusted around 60% when there’s bright lighting indoors to be used easily.
The Pixel 6 is now very refined and crisp. It took about 9 months to get there but I love my Pixel 6.
I would get a pixel 7 in a heartbeat if I wasn't already. planning on keeping this phone for 3 more years
@@Tmacademia Glad to hear! Love that the Pixels are actually great now. I’d honestly probably pick one up over the Samsung S22 series devices just for the software if I didn’t like iOS so much.
Love the coloured lighting in the background to match Googles colour theme 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Software issues on Pixel 6 is not a joke.
As much as I love the design and all, the software issues kept messing the device.
Now I'm switching to 7 pro.
Hope this has stable software in it. ✌️
The last point is an important one. I was pretty happy with my pixel 6 at first. Few months in, you notice these random bugs, haptics going a little weird, notifications not pushing away like they should and WAY more. They kept cropping up, more numerous every update. While my pixel 'works', the regular bugs are so frustrating. I came from a oneplus 7 pro and a 3T before that. Which was just a workhorse - I don't think I ever had a software bug with the 7pro. Because of that I don't think I'd buy a pixel phone again unless I see google making serious strides to fix that. I'll probably be going over to samsung or oneplus again until I see some significant improvements.
I'm excited to get the 7 Pro tomorrow. Couldn't agree more about the bad software ruining things. I stopped using my Pixel 6 and switched to daily driving my iPhone a few months ago. However, my iPhone 14 Pro Max has been less than stellar with bugs and crashing. The Apple Store Genius said they've had a lot of issues (when I brought mine in today because it wouldn't restart) but this latest software patch should fix it.
I think I would prefer Google and Apple to have longer upgrade cycles so the hardware and software teams have more QA time :D
16.0.2 and 16.0.3 have fixed all my software bugs on my 14PM so I’m very happy.
Very well said!

Thanks for the review Dave! Super helpful, as always. Still loving my Pixel 3 and its old-school fingerprint sensor on the back. Going to eventually have to upgrade, but I’m holding off for as long as I can…
Wow, you still use Pixel 3?
I used it for sometime and gave up for its battery life.
How's your experience?
@@victorutomo7244 It’s been fine. The battery lasts almost all day for me with moderate use even now after so many years. It’s been a real solid workhorse. Definitely got my money’s worth out of it.
Slightly off topic, but the multicoloured studio lighting is looking great.
Excellent review and demonstrations. One of the better and far more balanced reviews out so far. Great job
A way to look at the Pixel phones is that they are the closest thing that you can get to a developer device. Kind of like being on the developer channel for Windows. The Pixel phones will always get Android software updates first and there are bound to be bugs that need to be worked out. It's not always convenient, and can even be frustrating, but it's a quirk of owning a phone made by Google.
I never thought about it that way, but that is a good point to make... I have an LG V50 and a couple years ago I watched a RUclips video about installing Google Messenger (RPC) and what you had to do to make it work like Facebook or Apple Messenger, where you can see if the other person is typing or if they had read the message. I did this primarily because I didn't want Facebook as my messenger app and I hate Apple. Well, it was beta testing this capability on Google Messenger and yes, there were a lot of bugs and glitches. Two years later though, and it seems to be working pretty well. Now I need to decide on what the next revision be, as LG has left the smartphone game for good. Pixel 7 Pro is certainly on the short list.
@@diegomontoya8889, it was a very sad day when LG left the cell phone market. HTC is another that I miss. Unfortunately, that's what happens when a company cares more about quality than it goes profits. Eventually their budget can't keep up and they end up dropping out of the market.
@@robertmusil1107 mine went purple too 😂
@@robertmusil1107 I can't speak for HTC.... LG had been solid for a long time. I had a G4, then a V20 and a V50. All were great phones, except the lack of updates on the first two phones after 2 years. The V50 was upgraded to Android 12, so it's still pretty good. A lot of apps are getting huge now, and the V50 shows it's age when running them three years later.
Dave has such a smooth speaking voice and youthful appearance. I like hearing him speak
I've had zero issues with my Pixel 6. It's been flawless for me. Aside from the screen not being bright enough. I usually have to keep it at 75%. Even indoors.
same for me. My pixel 6 is amazing, But my wife has the 6 pro and its awful. so many bugs and it drops calls all the time
@@AaronBrooks0321 Same for my best friend. He hates his 6 Pro.
@@AaronBrooks0321 my 6 is perfect as well. Incredible battery and no bugs. Can't justify getting the 7 with the minimal upgrades but gotta tip my hat to em, they look incredible
@@NathanRFMuir same! It's really good I put a new case on it and it feels really nice and minimal. I think the 7 might be worth it though, although I'm holding on to my 6 🔥
Brightness was the main reason i opted for the ip14 pro.
Loving the rgb background, saw you toying with the idea on gerald undone studio tour, looks awesome
I used to dislike your new studio and thought the old setup was better. but with your new RGB lighting in the room. I am LIKING LIKING it!
as a minimalist. i feel the opposite, first thing i notice was like, "wtf? too colorful... what happened????"
Upgraded from a 4xl to the 7pro. 4xl was ahead of its time. The face unlock was/still amazing. Squeezing the edges to prompt the assistant was great. Free uploads to google photos. The hand waving to skip songs was a party trick. Great for folks shaving/makeup perhaps. 90hz screen was good enough. Oddly still an all day battery. Minor gripe was hardware reliability
Good thing you touched upon the software issues with the 6 at the end cause after a year of use, my 6 is unbearably buggy. The most common & infuriating issue is the keyboard. There's been so many moments where it either failed pull up my keyboard, or it wouldn't record my keystrokes, forcing a restart. Worst yet, it always seems to happen when I'm trying to reply to urgent messages. Other common issues were video apps not populating the screen properly and the keyboard failing to retract whilst receiving a call, blocking access to the screen. I absolutely HATE this phone. And no, this isn't a case of me keeping too many apps open since I consistently close them when they're not being used.
That's so strange, I'm using my Pixel 4a that I've had for about a year and a half and while I do have issues sometimes, it isn't very often. I wonder when Pixels started having these kinds of issues.
That's crazy my pixel 6 pro has been working like absolute charm ever since android 13🤩🤩 My only complaints were fingerprint, battery and 5g overheating after 13 they have been improved significantly!
I don’t think it’s necessary to close apps, new phones are built to have open so they load faster
@@enkvadrat_ fuck that, ram maxes out when it maxes out. close things to get them out of ram. its simply fundamental
i had the pixel 6 at launch, and bought an s22 when it was announced because of how AWFUL the pixel was, of course the issue you mentioned, and every other issue aside from finger print scanner. battery life was meh at besy, it got hot, the screen was legitimately BAD. generally terrible experience.
anyone remember nexus phones? good times...
Dave is arguably the most honest tech reviewer out there. Quality content. No luxurious and cinematic intro. Just a simple guy explaining simple things from different angle.
For me: 1. Dave 2D 2. Mrwhosetheboss 3. MKBHD
Pixel 7 Pro upgrade? More like a love affair! Snaps pics like a dream, even in the dark, and the battery goes forever. Plus, Google updates are like clockwork, keeping everything tight. But hey, no phone's perfect. This glossy back? Fingerprint city. Body protection film seems like the move, but bulky cases? No thanks, they kill the vibe. Thinking a matte screen protector from gadgetshieldz might be the key. Solves the fingerprint frenzy *and* adds some grip without turning my phone into a clunky mess. Now that's what I call a game-changer.
The pixel 7 looks like a great deal considering other mediocre android phone at $599 👍🏼
Trade my s21 Fe in for $450. Worth it you think?
@@halo2bounceguy yea, and if you don’t like it, you can return your pixel. Also Pixel gives great trade in deals for your own pixel around a new launch
$600 for a 90hz screen tho.. in 2023 😕
considering its something you see daily.
@@dnegel9546 i mean Apple is selling a 60 hertz screen for 899 also most people can’t even notice the difference from 90 to 120 hertz
@@good-tn9sr true. but if we are gona go off what people can tell then. all phones should be 720p
So happy when presenting, was that to see how things go when reviewing (like being happier = more views or engagement) nothing wrong with that or did something good happen prior to recording (like having a good time with the wife KEKW).
I just bought this phone. Got the s22 ultra as well but for work and other things. Including the fact I go camping through the summer. Having 2 phones is a must for me. Especially for battery. They both do different things and both do as good as each other.
How do they compare?
That's cool! If I could have 2 phones, I think I would choose a 'crazy phone', like a foldable, such as the Z Fold 3 or that Xiaomi foldable, and also a 'normal' phone, like the Pixel 7 Pro or S22 Ultra
Imagine having a better camera than s22 and and a soc with exactly same benchmarks as s22. Must be pretty wise to have two phones that do exactly the same thing
My 7P fingerprint reader is a huge upgrade from my Note 20 Ultra thumbprint reader. That was the worst thing about the N20U imo. So happy with the 7Pro!
Honestly this is the first Pixel I am excited about, even before seeing or reading other people opinions. It is crazy it took Google 7 iterations of Pixels to reach it though. If the next year Pixel 8 Pro will be just as good as the 7 series, I may come back to Google phones after a very long time.
Fun to watch this review in my Pixel7 pro. Good stuff. Came from a Pixel 3. Substantial upgrade.
Would've preferred a matte black pixel but will be getting it soon!
I couldn't agree more with you :)

I love what you're doing with the background lighting, since the since the studio tour. Keep it going!
The 3XL was the best phone I ever owned and I really want to give the Pixels another go but am apprehensive after my experiences with the 5 (both serious hardware and software issues with 3 different devices). I really lost faith in these phones because of that but when they did work as they were supposed to….they were absolutely fantastic
I think pixel 7 is the one. But you can still wait to check reviews
I'm upgrading from a 3XL. Still was running nicely, but its battery life was no longer the greatest, and the cell signal was lost a few times.
Otherwise, it was a fantastic phone
Best for tech content out there. Love that setup with background. Dope. Thank you 🙏
You're the only RUclipsr (relatively popular) that said battery life hasn't been better.

Excellent review-that watch is beautiful though…
@dave2d Do you have any thoughts regarding the cell reception of the 7? Does Tensor G2 improve the poor cell reception experienced by P6 pro users when comparing it to other snapdragon based devices and apple devices?

I was in a dilemma to choose between Google pixel 7 pro and Asus Zenfone 9 and both are at the price price level in the UK and finally made my mind to go with Pixel 7 pro simply because in UK google is offering a nice free goodie like Google pixel watch (LTE).Kudos to Google team for the generosity.Camera pics seems amazing this time with loads of software tricks which we expect from google. ur kinda right that asus has a slightly more powerful processor but the difference isn't really that big unless ur playing demanding games at max graphics settings

Awesome cliffhanger with ending comment on Pixel watch. Really wanna see your review on that now!
It baffles me how people have to "wait for an eighth of a second" for the fingerprint sensor. That tells me I'm wasting like 6 seconds everyday 😱
I love the studio. You're one of the best technology reviewers. Keep doing what you do!
Yo that clear calling feature is such as a useful update. I'm surprised that type of tech hasn't been used before, must be new. After seeing how badly they compare to this, watch apple come out with it in a couple years saying how they're reinventing calling lol. This is a solid update to the pixel lineup though, love everything about it.
Dang ever since Gerald came to your studio your video quality just went up +100pts
I think if you are coming from Pixel 3 or 4 this phone is a big upgrade but from Pixel 5 or 6 i don't think so
Pixel 6 was filled with bugs. With the trade-in and gcs they giving out, it makes no sense not to upgrade.
Huge respect for Dave colour matching his background lighting to Google’s colours
I decided to buy Pixel 7 Pro for my me and my wife just because of the awesome offer that you get a Pixel Watch for each Pixel 7 Pro.
It is my first Google Phone but I dont think I will get disappointed.
I like how only one tech reviewer who talks about important stuff
If only it had a fingerprint reader on the power button on the side it would be literally perfect

You're the best, i mean the perfect reviewer on RUclips. The aspects or the details you review about: the call clarity..the noise suppression tech the new pixel phones use, that was really a nice mention in the video. Keep these kinda videos coming 👍🏼
I'm sure it's a nice phone. But for me, two reasons why I won't pick it.
1) Not a great looking phone.
2) The tall and narrow doesn't do it for me. Love the shorter and a bit wider ratio of the S22+.
Took me a while to find a comment like yours. I thought more people would think this phone looks a bit odd. The corners seem very sharp and the camera design doesn't help either imo
Was waiting for your review on this! Thank you Dave
"Speaking of bad software, Pixel Watch..." Oh no...
I'm curious what he meant, because most reviewers are praising the watch for its software.
The studio background is insane
I wanted the telephoto on the pro but the extra 300 was too much for me. The little 2x on the 7 might be just fine for me though. I want a little bit extra zoom but I don’t need the 30x of the 7 pro. 599 for the 7 is crazy good
it really is + all the deals they're giving (pixel buds or pixel watch) which you could sell if you want to. that could drop the price even more!
@@ttanke sadly you won't get that kind of deals in Japan, just the phone
The background lighting looks really good here
I don't think there's going to be many bugs . Android 13 works really flawlessly and all the problems last year was from android 12 not being ready
My 6 Pro, purchased in August... Has thankfully been fantastic.
So, it scratches super easy, it doesnt have the best screen, or the best camera, or the best hardware, and your experience with software was horrible.... but its the "best android phone you can get" based on 1 week use and saying "right now, cause i dont know the long term".... all right.
Literally no one talked about the aluminium frame getting scratched on pixel device, thanks for letting us know
The studio is looking so so good now Dave! The colours really make it pop!
That last caveat rings true as a pixel 6 user... Software bugs that creep in unsuspectingly with Google phones are really annoying!! Really hope Google resolves this
I just love that we are (end of) 2022 and we are talking about a phone making great clear calls. Just shows how bad call quality has been on every piece of equipment until now that should be the main focus for getting perfect. Unfortunately for years (prob since the release of the iPhone) a mobile phones main focus (no pun intended) has been a camera or using social media. I remember back in the day when a phone could just call and text and life seemed easier and less stressful back then.
Nice to see Dave use multiple background color to lit up the studio now. Looks more eye pleasing 😆
Love how happy Dave is reviewing these phones
I feel its the only honest review available on youtube for pixel devices from Top youtube creators.
Nice thing you've done with the colors in the background 👍
I love the changes since Gerald Undone has been to your Studio 😎
Love what you did with the studio man. Beautiful work!
Typo on the 48MP 5x telephoto annotation :) Love the video!
Pixel phones have come a long way in terms of photographs, but taking high quality videos is a another thing. I hope we see development in this area soon, esp now that social media is moving more toward videos than photos.
I really like your light setup behind you. It looks really good.
I still use and love the OnePlus 7 Pro that Dave recommended from years ago. It's still fast for my daily use.
Love the colored lighting in the studio

love the themed led in the background, should def try to theme the light to the product/company.
Man, these reviews are really making me rethink my decision to keep Pixel 6 Pro as my phone for a few years. Not that I've had much issues with mine but they're all basically raving, ahhh. The teaser for the Pixel Watch at the end, though 👀
