Non-Sleep Deep Rest Yoga Nidra (NSDR) is a Tool for De-Stress and Relaxation. This non sleep deep rest protocol is a technique recommended by Dr. Andrew Huberman. He talks about the evidence-based science that this tool for relaxation & wellness will help de-stress and calm the nervous system. Yoga Nidra is an effortless guided meditation that some would even call a sleep meditation that helps you go into the deepest states of rest and calms the mind while putting you into a deep state of relaxation.
Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation that uses a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. Dr. Huberman’s research from Stanford shows that this particular NSDR technique calms the nervous system and activates the parasympathetic (relaxation, rest & digest) response.
In this yoga Nidra guided meditation to relax you will be guided through a body scan to calm the nervous system, It’s a 30-minute yoga Nidra guided relaxation for stress relief. It’s a 30min yoga nidra script led by Ally Boothroyd of Sarovara Yoga that is perfect for stress management. Lay down, relax, rest, and meditate all at the same time!
This 30-minute yoga nidra with voice only aids in deep relaxation through the effortless guided meditation of nidra (sleep). When listening to the gentle female voice, let yourself relax and be guided into a deep state of effortless meditation. This meditation is designed to untangle and reduce stress and anxiety and calm the nerves over time.
This is a yoga Nidra style body scan to soothe the nerves. This yog nidra is a form of meditation that helps with insomnia, anxiety, stress, adrenal fatigue, PTSD and so much more.
And you can practice these guided yoga nidras next:

You have probably saved my life Ally. Was left disabled and brain damaged from a hit and run few years ago. Found you by complete accident but maybe it was fate cos without you I wouldn’t still be here. After years of just operations and hospitals and homelessness and abuse post accident and a body full of morphine and every other pain killer known to man your Yoga Nidra and your calming voice is the only thing that takes everything away for a while. Takes me away from this prison I’m stuck in. I don’t have to be this person for a short while. I can escape. I apologise cos I’m not good at writing or anything much anymore but I will never be able to find the words to thank you and how much listening to you each day means to me and the impact it’s made on my life. Thank you doesn’t come close. Whatever day your having or whatever you may do in the future you can go to sleep at night knowing that you have done something truly remarkable for someone and something not many others can ever say and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. Wishing you all the health, happiness and success in the world. Thank you Ally

Hi there :). I’m so happy to read that yoga nidra is helping you. Have you also tried other ways of regulating your nervous system? I’m recovering from nervous system burnout, and certain practices really help me. such as alternate nostril breathing and humming breath. As well as vagus nerve self massage. Check this vids on RUclips, they help me daily in recovery:

Hey :) I’m a first timer. I didn’t have the experience of floating between consciousness and unconsciousness (I’ve heard you can ‘go under’ in nidra and wake up some time later) but I definitely felt something. Still controlling my breath and feeling frustrated at that. And not able to connect in to different parts of my body as I’m very up in my mind. I expect it would take me many many goes at practicing this before I could relax into it to the level needed to reset my nervous system.

Not a fan of the term NSDR, removes the cultural elements in Yoga Nidra. Even religious christians will try to remove Hindu aspects but still call it "christian yoga". I hate to say, low-key cultural appropriation, and I am not a fan of that term

    • @the9thof13

@@navinthehouse4710 well thanks to the term NSDR I could find it , Discovering the one I was looking for is called Yoga Nidra is a nice extra on top of learning to feel the entire body and mind. I'm an Atheist but hindu stuff like this and stuff like karma really fascinate me. and I will tell my sister about this as Yoga Nidra I also like to use the correct term, but umbrella terms help things being found

Also, I am afraid I am becoming addicted to it and will have trouble sleeping at an upcoming silent retreat- without you on my phone as my coach. Oh, Ally, thank you! This is an amazing gift. I don't have the words to adequately describe the experience. The deep rest gained from this is so apparent. And I'm believing that the benefit is continuing and long-reaching. 🙏

I'm a practicing yogi. I Normally would do Shavasana and that's when the self guided body scanning is actually done. But since I live in Manhattan, NY and the big city is not exactly peaceful even in the early mornings I decided to use body scanning from RUclips. Yours is truly one of the best I've heard and experienced. It's like a yoga guru guiding his student during shavasana. Please make video in which you're consciously scanning the systems , like you've done with the nervous system. If you could make one for say the cardiovascular renal system or the digestive system or the integumentary system, you get the idea. Really appreciate it 🙏🏻. Keep up this wonderful work. Namashkaar

Dear Ally, I’ve been enjoying your Yoga Nidra videos and blog for the past few months and it’s been tremendously beneficial for my nervous system. The first few weeks I could feel my body screaming from the lack of stimulus and it made me realize how overworked it was. Now I go through longer videos and deeply relax and it’s amazing.
If I could make one small request (maybe for upcoming videos or editing a few popular videos in and putting them in a separate playlist) is making some “no outro” videos. Sometimes after the body scan and breathing exercise, when there’s “nothing to do” I feel like I’m floating and it’s a wonderful state. I’d like to keep that going in silence for a while, until I feel ready without having to pause the video. I’m not sure but I suspect others might enjoy too, at least once in a while when I have time for a longer session like this video
Thank you again and all the best.
