I never, ever, ever want to be in a situation like this. I remember when I was about six I went to an outside adventure park and it had an obstacle where you needed to crawl through a pipe, about 10m long. Even that gave me the heebie-jeebies. As an adult I have had to have several MRI scans and those make me panic too, but that's more because I'm physically unable to get out even if I want to and my movement is severely restricted (head locked into position, knee-deep into the machine, unable to get out by myself). I need space and the ability to control my movement! But I loved this video and you guys had an amazing time - keep it up!
That sounds scary. I'm not a big fan of crawling through pipes. I suspect crawling through a pipe is quite a bit more dangerous than a cave!

Time to go wedge huge rocks in the entries of caves.
They "gate" or hide some entrances. But not for safety reasons, it's for conservation of caves with elaborate formations. Caves are kept safe because they are naturally hidden. Most people, even if they wanted to, will never find a cave opening.

I've noticed alot of people mentioning John Jones in the comments. And that's understandable, but the difference between these guys and John, is that they're always prepared and have a careful strategy that clearly works. That makes them infinitely more safe than John was.
Jones is the JAWS of the caving world. Many are afraid of things which don't exist. People are super angry at us sometimes. On the other hand: the unwarranted fear is likely also the reason our videos become somewhat popular. So we take the bad with the good. And remain alive.
@@CalvinHikes True, that's about all you can do is take the good that comes from the bad and keep enjoying what you love to do. I agree that he has become the 'JAWS' of the caving world, but people generally fail to mention that he went off course and wasn't paying attention to his surroundings or where he was going when he got stuck. And it's unfortunate that that happened to him and very sad, but it's extremely rare to be caught up in a situation like that.
Please explain how John is the JAWS of caving? Is that supposed to be a statement about how unlikely it is to get stuck like him? Just as a giant murderous shark is also unlikely in the ocean?
Its very likely. Very, very likely. People get stuck in caves all of the time. Johns story was bad mainly because the rescue team failed to save him. But continue on with the "this won't ever happen to me" logic. I bet John thought that too.
Just seems like common sense not to put yourself in that situation to begin with. What's even in these caves? More rocks, more darkness. No hidden trove of treasure, no secrets. Just tight spaces and dark dead ends. What's the damn point?

We use small cameras. But mostly, we either fit or we don't fit. It's not generally the size of the passage, it's the type of flooring. Rough flooring will catch your clothes and is almost impossible to get through. But smooth floor is easy. That's why these lava caves are harder than limestone in other places of the world. How do you make sure there is enough breathable air in a cave?
Air in caves isn't stagnant... the cave is like a big lung, which constantly breathes in and out. Because there is a temperature difference from the outside, this causes air to be sucked in and out of the cave, even with just one entrance hole.
That being said, the air, while breathable, sometimes is damp and tastes bad. We wear masks in some caves. But in general, the air is fine to breathe for a few hours.

I don't mind the close quarters of caves, but when I start to get covered in cobwebs , I start to get antsy until I clear them from me.
