@@CalvinHikes I've been looking for a way to message you guys, I just found your channel and what you guys do is so interesting, exciting, and terrifying. How do you find information on the caves you explore? I've been trying to Google caves near me, not so I can go in them, but I'd like to know about them. I lived right next to a cave in Lewisburg TN that I would go in as a teen and it's kind of a small park and I just want to know more about it. I once went on a field trip somewhere nearby and went into a cave that opened into a huge dome and the land owners had found a bunch of artifacts from ancient Indian tribes. I can't find any information about these locations even though I've been to them and I would just like to know more about the history. If you have an info on how I can look into these places and caves in general that would be amazing. I have no idea how you have all this info on when certain caves were found and what not.

A minute into he video made me uncomfortable and anxious. I don’t know how you guys stay so calm. Respect.
I've been caving once - only once. Looking back, going with experienced cavers, I felt like it was way more advanced than a rookie could tackle. I was poorly equipped, and way out of shape, I have never been THAT close to a full on panic. One spot I had to empty the air from my lungs to be able to squeeze through one spot. Another obstacle was a very long belly crawl with minimal clearance. Not being able to turn my head as I was crawling on my belly was a new and frightening sensation. I will say, sitting in an enormous room, in complete silence and darkness, was some of the most peaceful moments I've experienced. There is no time in a cave. No awareness of sun up or sun down. I think you need to be kind of a nut job to be a caver - and I mean that in the most positive and respectful way.
Hats off to you both!
Oh my goodness what a neat story! And scary! I could never do this I mean, I would totally be stuck in a tunnel having multiple panic attacks!
But hats are essential to protect cavers from concussions!
Sounds like borderline criminal negligence that they pushed you into what's clearly way beyond 'beginner' level caving. Experts are supposed to be trusted with your life essentially in their hands, and it sounds like their attitude was "if the noob dies, he dies".
I remember doing this cave with a bunch of my friends back when I was about 16. I'm afraid of darkness and tight spaces, so this was a trip to face my fears. We went in with a bottle of Jose Cuervo as our only safety line. After I got out of the cave, I puked because I was so scared. Still never had that happen again in my life. Also will never go in that cave again 🤣

@@CalvinHikeshi
I actually really love how thin the entrance to hellhole is because it is almost like a scale saying, if you are too big to get in here or if it’s too difficult to get through here. You shouldn’t be going into hellhole
I think it's intended to be a scale but there are places in the cave that are immediately a lot more constrictive than that slot entrance.
I think it's initial intention with so that they could gate the cave very easily if necessary. But it's in too public of an area so people would just rip the gate off.
You should get a GoPro and a light and throw it down the holes you can't get to and see what's down there
@@CalvinHikescorrect. It actually doesn’t have anything to do with being a size guide, as you noted correctly that there are several spots which measure smaller than the entry. It was built and originally had a grate across the front, to keep folks out, but much like the area after the birthing canal passage, they gave up trying to block it. Doesn’t make sense to me…if they really wanted to block the entrance, they could have not left an opening at all.
@@CalvinHikes In the mid 1990s there was not yet a metal gate on the entrance. I just wish visitors would respect the cave and not spray paint and leave litter.
Watching these types of videos used to give me anxiety, but now they're helping me get over my fear. It's amazing to see how calm you are even in the tightest of places, because of the wisdom and experience you have in caving. I'm not a caver, but I think you're teaching me a lot about how to stay levelheaded in tough situations.
That's wonderful. I think that caving has taught me many lessons and that's why I enjoy it. My life has its stresses and caving his taught me that high pressure situations are not the end. You can be calm. You can think clearly. You can slowly work yourself out of problems.

Excellent work as always. Its hard to remember you two are alone potentially 100's of ft below ground level and yet so calm and collected. I can imagine there are times off camera where it becomes a little more stressful but it's great what you both do.
If it becomes stressful we do turn the camera off. I try to keep a head camera on now in case something crazy happens. Which, it did in a recent adventure which will be the next video. Friend of mine got stuck and I had to pull him out. had my go pro on my head.
I know a lot of people ask "why do you do this, its so dangerous". For me, its a similar feeling to climbing a tree when you was a kid. Getting higher you know its dangerous, but each branch you go up, you feel a sense of achievement. And of course, caves are beautiful to see.
Well done with the diagrams/animations along with the commentary, a lot of folks even watching this will be caught up in the emotions that come with even thinking of being wedged inside a narrow passage so appropriately named! Having been through a passage called the “birth canal” in Arkansas, I understand that vertical spacing shortages require a totally different set of maneuvers than horizontal spacing shortages. Amazing video brothers!! 💙💙🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Great video, I hadn't seen it before. I explored that cave with some friends back in '97 and it scared the living heck out of me. I had been in a lot of caves but of the four of us, one guy was experienced and had done that cave several times before and I think I'd still be down there if he wasn't with us. One guy in our group had a bit of a panic attack just above the hall of faces and I fought my own demons struggling - and failing - to get back up through the birth canal. Without one guy pulling from above and another pushing from below I'd have been screwed. I had never felt claustrophobic before but that cave required all the mental strength I had. Your video brings back all those feelings of anxiety and near-panic even now, 25 years . Well done guys, and I'm glad somebody other than me is still enjoying that cave.
Yeah sounds like a fun trip. That little cave does have a few challenges. Above the hall of faces I found to be really tricky during the Winter when it was muddy and slippery.
But it's a great place to experience a little bit of fear without putting yourself in too much danger.
The popularity of that gave may result in it being fully gated. But we will see.
I honestly don’t know how you can do this. How do you fit your gigantic balls through some of those passages?
Props for spending time with family and passing your knowledge and passion down for future generations. While I could never be a caver, it is one of the oldtimey hobbies that must be preserved for those who CAN enjoy it.
Dude...im sure you hear this all the time but my heart races when i watch you guys struggle.
10:23 haha he said sheeeesh
oh, dude.. it's 4am and I'm not sure if I can watch this. Yep, gonna watch it anyway. I'm at 0:37 and I'm reasonably certain I would not be as calm as you guys in this situation. :-o
you guys are insane, I could NEVER, would definitely have a panic attack & get myself stuck in there forever. You’re great at keeping Jacob & yourself calm during scary moments. I pray for your guys safety, risky hobby. stay safe 💓
Getting through these caves is 50% strength and 50% mental control. I enjoyed some of the caves Ive been in but never anything remotely as tight as that. You guys are amazing at what you do. I hope you never have to eat your way out of a pinch 💀
Oh my gosh to think that most of the ground at that level is completely crystalline. Ancient and gorgeous! Thank you guys for going as deep as you could. Also I love your kids hair ! It makes me want to go down there, just not as far … hehe
Thank you. It's a really fun cave. A good amount of challenge to overcome but not too difficult.
I admire you guys so much for your bravery. This was hard to watch as a claustrophobic this is my literal worst nightmare.
I found a show on Hulu called the boonies and one of the guys lives in a cave in Ozark and it fascinated me I had no idea there are so many caves in the states
There are thousands and thousands and thousands of caves.
We like to say the world is a cave but you just have to find an entrance.
Omg! I'm so proud of your son! Great job dad 👏🏻👏🏻 amazing video guys ♥️ I would love to try, really.
Watching this in my apartment and looking out at the beautiful sunny day outside makes me grateful to be alive in this world
I've been in mammoth cave and I was freaking out the whole time. Went back again and did much better. I'd never attempt this, just watching makes my stomach churn. Thanks for the bravery and showing off these awesome caves!
"Went back and did much better is the story of our lives."
Good for you.
Look for me to quote you in an upcoming video on our 2nd page.

Just watching these makes me claustrophobic and I didn't even know I had an ounce of that in my system. Cool content. Thanks for sharing.
As someone with claustrophobia, arachnophobia & nyctophobia, watching this video was quite a ride, but I enjoyed watching it.
I have an immense claustrophobia fear so doing anything like this is a no for me. But it’s so cool watching other people go into places like these.
I got so much anxiety from watching this😵
I'm right there with you! For that reason I'm out!
Cool? They are badass!!! But this isn't fun to watch
Exactly FULL BLOWN so this is a no go
Man that would be tiring, crawling around in narrow spaces uses so much energy, mad respect!
Yes thank you for noticing. It is tiring. Its the great core workout! Someone suggested we track our heart rate through a cave and I intend to do that.
@@CalvinHikes it would also double as an anxiety attack detector!
Haven't gone caving myself yet but I'm absolutely addicted to your videos!
I have claustrophobia hitting just watching this. You are so brave 👍
You guys are amazing. The anxiety I feel watching you 2 go through these caves is ridiculous. I'm glad I can at least experience it through you as I surely will never do this myself. :)
Suspenseful, entertaining, informative, well cut, well filmed, well commented. I puckered my way through a few of these shots. This was very professionally done. It is obvious that safety was a priority and that you both approached the experience with a sober mind and optimism. This was a very well done video.
Thank you so much for all the kind words!
That was freaky tight. Well done fellas.
Great safety advice
All I can say is......... thank you for showing us these caves, they are so interesting and whilst I'm new to your channel and think you're both crazy 🤣 i look forward to the day you discover something that no other human has ever seen before.
We are definately crazy. Glad you enjoy!
@@CalvinHikes very crazy and brave your nephew is very courages
I remember the story of a caver who got stuck head first in a place like 5:05. They couldn't pull him out so he died
Thank you for filming this! Being a 250lb man, I would never be able to see this if you hadn't shared it with us. Thank you!
Idk how i just watched this whole thing.. ive been clenching my teeth trying to avoid a panic attack the whole time 🤣 you guys are awesome 🤙🏻
15:10 “ohhh look a phone! Oh wait that’s my phone!” Had me dying 😂
He was so genuine he thought he found a phone. It literally fell out of his pocket one second before.
