    What an amazing find. Is this a big deal in the caving community as a whole? Do you think other cavers will travel there just to see it?

    • @CalvinHikes
      @CalvinHikes  Месяц назад +56

      Yes. We've found a few really nice big caves recently. So we submitted an article with photographs to the national caving magazine and got published. So this is now a nationally recognized find.
      Which is a pretty big deal for our little neck of the woods.
      It's a difficult cave to get into and dangerous to set up vertical lines. So I doubt it will get a lot of traffic currently. They'd have to be shown. In the future, we may be able to open up the entrance a bit more and then you will have plenty of takers since the vertical is so great. That's the real draw here is a cave where rope is required. Besides the fact that it's also an interesting and pretty cave

    You should get a tiny drone or RC car with a camera or something like that to explore tight places to see if they're worth climbing into, or to see what's beyond where it's possible for a person to go. Another thought is a cheap endoscope, they have ones for $30 in Amazon where it's just a tiny camera with a light on a 15 foot thin cord, it plugs into your smartphone and just works as if your phone has a third camera.

    My favorite cavers of all time! Also wanted to add, I love how the subtitles in the beginning translate 'Cave Tour Guide' to "Cave Tour God'. WHERE ARE YOU GOD OF CAVING!?

      It stands as the deepest vertical drop in our area, at the least. Lava tubes don't normally produce much vertical, so this is a real anomaly.

    Well. I used to recoil at various cave exploration videos on RUclips. But your editing and explanations make them much easier to watch. Daresay I find myself slightly interested in doing an exploration. Only with a proper guide of course. And maybe if I lose about 50 pounds 😅

      The real danger here was the transition at the top of the. There's not much video of it because there's no space. It goes from crack to edge quite quickly. It took us a few weeks to sort out how to get down in there.

      Welcome to the dark frontier.
      We do answer some questions.
      The air is fine.
      People ask a lot so I assume there's some myth about bad oxygen underground or something. In real life, the oxygen is completely normal in a cave. *Just cold
