I'd like to find one at the super far end of this cave. It's very tight... and scary. I just can't find a way out. Best case scenario in these lava fields is finding a tree cast like we did.

I discovered what a passion I have for caving just a few months ago, I'm 28yo. Nobody in my family would want to go with me for the moment, because of claustrophobia and the fear of getting lost. I met a friend, more experienced in caving than me (I'm just a beginner, he has 40 years of experience of caving), who helps me to learn caving skills and to explore caves safely. For me, caving is like discovering a treasure! I wish you happy new year!

I assume that in most cases there's a kind of self safety perimeter. In other words if someone actually finds a cave there is a fairly high amount of natural fear that keeps people out of them, and if people go in them it's not for very long. The other safety barrier is that caving is fun in theory but going and finding a cave is extremely extremely rare. I have been caving my whole life and never randomly stumbled upon a cave.

I also just want to bring some attention and appreciation to the fact that clearly, one of you (I'm guessing Jacob) crawled out of the exit, set up a camera, and then went back inside the cave for a second filmed exit. Awesome work and dedication to the video when you're tired!
Yeah we have to do a lot of exiting setting up a camera re entering re exiting. That part is miserable because it requires much less payoff for a lot of hard work. It also slows down the experience because we have to stop and set up the cameras. But Jacob has been very patient and he has also learned to use the camera gear.
I recently came across your channel while surfing the recommended video. I absolutely love the fact you and your son share a love for caving. Your son can look back and relive your travels through these videos and will cherish these adventures for life. Just don't get stuck!

I didn't catch where you live but im from southern IL and if you ever want to venture out here I know of a few caves that are within an hours drive from my house plus im sure you could find a few out at fern cliff and giant city parks. Ive never tried going through any caves like you do but it would make good content. You guiding a complete beginner there a cave or two haha

Each video takes about 20 hours of editing time. Used to be 30 but I'm quicker now!

the vertical tree cast covered in ferns was prob the scariest part. my luck id go on a hike and find that 20 min in to the trip.

The fact Jacob has the will to not only go in but stick with you and has the strength to get out is so important. If he just stopped and decided he couldn't go on that would be the end man 100s of feet in a cave, no way out but back the way you came. Crazy. Stay safe guys
