on the Eggy, I saw a cooking show that tested a similar product and something they noted was that wasn't in the instructions, was that you would either need to keep it in the fridge with the eggs or use room temperature eggs, but either way to be "accurate" the product needs to be the same temperature as the eggs.
Excellent point!
@@auntlynnie missed opportunity to say “Eggscellent point!”
@@tylerengland4427 And I love a good pun! *hangs head in shame*
Having had one of those plastic egg timers for probably 20 years I've never bothered to keep it in the fridge. Sure it isn't an Eggy, but the function is exactly the same. And yes, the scale isn't always perfect. After all small eggs cook faster than large eggs, and as noted the initial temperature of the egg also matters. But once you've used it for a while you learn to read it.
Honestly it's not really that different from using a timer. There is a learning curve to both. One thing a normal timer can't do is adjusting for how fast your stove is, but that's not really a big thing in my opinion.
Now as for the longevity of the eggy... If it's the same as the one I have then it should be really good, as long as you do remember not to cool it to fast. The one I have is no longer clear and shiny. After my father dumped eggs and all into the cold water the timer turned cloudy, and it delaminated partly along the plane of the colored temperature indicator, but it still works as once it starts to get warm the cloudiness goes away so I can see the scale.
As for cooling or not I just followed the instructions that mine came with. There is said the timer should not be cooled rapidly by immersing it in cold water. I took that as meaning it was OK to just pluck it from the boiling water and place it somewhere out of the way to cool down. As it's now at or close to 20 years and the only damage visible came from my father dumping it in cold water I'd say letting it air cool has worked. Now I can't guarantee that this Eggy will be as resilient, but I think it's quite likely.
As for price it seems a bit high. Last I saw them in a store (perhaps five years ago I think) they cost about a dollar. They claimed the normal price was about $4, but for years they had a basket with these that sold for for about a dollar so I'd rather call that the normal.
Edit: My sister was the one who clued me into these, and she had been using one for years before I got one. However she's used it far more and has had to replace hers a few times over the years. So your mileage may vary...
it's mostly just the US that refrigerates its eggs, due to using a cleaning process that also removes the cuticle, so keeping it refrigerated wouldn't be much of a problem for the rest of the world. I don't think it matters all that much anyway. The difference between refrigerated and room temperature is pretty negligible compared to going from room temperature to boiling and the increased temperature differential would just cause the cold eggs to heat up faster than the warm Eggy until both reached the same temperature. That's why refrigerated water takes about the same amount of time to come to a boil as hot water from the tap.
Be careful when handling a live drink, this is not a simulation, this stunt was performed by a trained Amazon reviewer.
"Bee" Careful. ;)
Don't try this at home
Hahahaha
Bailey is such a well trained dog. She didn't even try to get at the soda. Good girl 😁
I know! My dog would take one look at the can in the holder and slap it right out!
@@vickireynolds4055 lol Yeah a lot of dogs would have some kind of reaction. Just doing what dogs do 😜
@@vickireynolds4055 I would have had a can on the floor leaking of soda and a dog on my lap with her belly up in the air and a tail in my face. I honestly don’t think I’d be mad at it either. A little annoyed maybe but her actions are expected!
@@Kieorasama Baileys smart, she knows zero coke is shite.
I was getting ready to comment the same
"A more happening trash can". That was hilarious.
I know, right? I guffawed on that one!
Ewww!! 🪰🤢😂😂😂
9:31 There is actually a product that allows you to squeeze it and get silverware clean, and it costs less than $1. It's called a scrub sponge. XD
My thought exactly. 😊
I saw him moving the cutlery through and was frustrated that he couldn't squeeze it! Absolutely right that a sponge would be so much better.
Another product to clean cutlery is a sponge. You can fold it over to clean both sides of item at once, and you can squeeze it.
@@hopefletcher7420 That’s what I said.
And u can really hurt yourself cleaning a sharp knife with a reg sponge🙄🙄🙄 But u have at it
The couch test with Bailey is actually really good. Lots of people have dogs, I wonder if the company who made the Sofa Stud took that into account. Dogs jumping up onto the couch could really affect the performance of that product.
or kids
For the couch drink holder, best I've seen is a wide roll of duct tape on the couch and stick the drink in the middle. I've never spilled a drink when using this method
That's genius.
🏆 👑 you win!
Dude! Brilliant!
I bet a roll of gaffer's tape, or masking tape, would also work!
Now I can keep my beer near!
JAMES WHITE EMAIL ME DUDE
True! And, if needed, you have the tape for emergency situations! Don't ask! 😂😂
I like it when Bailey is in the video helping you to test the products!
Bailey!
I think that's a first time anyone has sought out a "more happening" trash can on YT , terrific effort
OMG, I can finally throw away my coffee table and just buy a "Sofa stud". Said nobody, ever.
Well... incidentally I know people with very long sofa's. The kind of sofa you can't get up from once you take a seat. That's where a gadget like this could get in handy :')
@@ahandsomefridge all they need is a contraption where they pull a lever and the cushion propels them up/out of the seat. 😂
@@bufordmaddogtannen Sounds like the ejector toilet seat from an SNL skit. If you felt you were dying on the toilet, press a button & it will flip you into the bed.
@@lynnwilhoite6194 as I see it no idea is too dumb if there are a few people willing to buy it. 😁
#firstworldproblems
The lids I'd probably just slid over when I want to protect them. And when I go to drink I'd take it off. More like a barrier if anything.
Yep, however for the money if you have a lot of people in your family something like a knockoff of the Bottle Tops(seems the originals are no longer made, and have shot in price) is a much better value, and reduces spillage while covering the hole totally once the cap is back on either screwed, or snapped.
I just use coasters and put them over, works for any size drink, very cheap and no training needed.
This is the only review channel I watch, I like how you admit when you made a mistake, keep up the good work
Me too!
I appreciate the fact by the anti-bee thingy, that:
1) You admitted you were doing it wrong (and left the blooper in for us to enjoy!);
2) While editing, you noticed that the camera angle did not show much, so you went back, and shot the scene again with a better angle/lighting.
Thanks for the great reviews, quality videos, and fun!
There are blade brushes you can squeeze together. I bought the one in your video about a year ago because my family kept cutting themselves on my super sharp Victorinox knives. The brush really is designed for sharpened butcher block knives. Those kinds of knives are really supposed to be washed immediately after use to prevent damaging or dulling the blade. The fixed position is designed to protect and prevent a potentially bad gash in the palm of your hand. You're also supposed to do a little twist motion like you were showing to maximize contact with the bristles of the brush. Although you can use it for other utensils--after soaking them for 5 minutes--this really is a specialty brush for sharpened kitchen knives.
Bailey giving you the cold shoulder because you're ignoring her on the couch. My Bailey does the same thing
Now I'm thinking about putting that pop the top on the bottom of a tabletop. That would be so dope, just pushing the bottle against the tabletop and magically taking off the cap.
"This is NOT a simulation, this is a real drink and it can spill."
Things just got real.
I love how Bailey gets so enthused. So optimistic of good things coming her way.
Bailey!
Back in 97 or 98 I believe, I was in Destin, Florida with my best friend. She owned the bar I worked at. We were at a bar on the beach and saw those bottle openers. They were selling them at the bar. I think someone there had come up with the idea. It was the only place you could buy them at the time. Needless to say we bought a few for home and the bar. I still have mine and I still love it!
I don’t have a bee allergy but I have gone to take a sip from a can and had a bee fly out towards my mouth. So I can see the benefit of those little covers 👍
I was a GI nurse for several years. I've helped retrieve several wasps and bees from the esophagus. Drink covers are definitely a must👍🐝
had it happen too, it's actually what cured my fear of bees(it crawling out and not stinging me)
My father simply stuff a napkin into hole of can if we are outside.
@@popenieafantome9527 👍
@@popenieafantome9527 I tried that, but somehow a yellow jacket snuck in and when I went to take a sip, I got a yellow jacket in my mouth! 🙀🙀🙀 Luckily I spit it out and I didn’t get stung.
When I was a kid, I designed something like the Sofa Stud for a school project. Only mine had an adjustable vertical keel, (to adapt to cushion depth) with a cross piece that rested under the cushions to keep from rocking to the side when you sat down. It definitely was more stable than the Sofa Stud, but I don't think either one would survive one of those people that flop down onto the couch instead of sitting normally.
This dude deserves more subscribers above other RUclips characters.
I agree, especially with his shorts channel.
I agree, especially with his appeal to the women
Wow what a brave and original thought
2 ppl on couch. Bailey: "I'm a ppl!". She's so precious.
You should have tried "pop the top" on a short neck like red stripe beer
Bailey said, "We gotta make this a real world test Dad!" 🐕
Thank u James, Bailey & Fam...I truly appreciate your thoroughness & fairness to the products in all of your reviews...great job!!!
What a lovely doggy assistant you have.
I sometimes watch these vids just for Bailey... the most loveable review companion
In PA where I live, Aug and Sept are bee months to the insane degree. The bees are everywhere and if you have a can outside, you might very well get stung in the mouth. It has happened to me before.
That's why man has spent thousands of years trying to perfect indoors. I say that as someone who's lived on a farm. Outside sucks and I've no idea why anyone willingly chooses to eat outside.
I usually drink diet coke & for some reason bugs just don't care for it. Probably a good reason to quit drinking it but I get cranky without my diet coke.
"I hear Flys at a different trash can" 😂 Without any context, one might think you've lost your mind lol
I have the Xpand laces and love them. You can do it so that you can get two shoes laced with just one lace.
That is definitely a soft boiled egg it’s actually perfect but the running is still inside it’s perfect you just get a bad job peeling it is all
I mean, you're supposed to eat a soft-boiled egg with a spoon. It looked ok to me. I usually eat a soft-boiled egg out of an egg cup. (shrug)
I thought so too. I would concider the one with the fully cooked whites a medium myself.
Agreed. This is an American who perhaps is not accustomed to a proper soft boiled egg. For him, it's not a good deal, so opinions all around. 😉
@@Apocalypz A lot of Americans eat soft-boiled eggs. I do myself. My perfect soft-boiled egg is a set white and a runny yoke. Perfect for dipping toast into. I think the reviewer was looking for a jammy hard-boiled egg. The gadget is not great. Nothing like methodically timing cooking times and honing basic techniques.
I have elastic laces (different brand) but I don't like that they want you to cut them off, making them single-use. Instead, I just tied them snugly like standard laces, and I can slip the shoes on and off. (Bonus, I have circulation issues where my lower legs swell up and I need to wear compression socks, and the elastic-laced shoes compress my feet more than even the socks do.)
I enjoy and trust your reviews. Hugs for Bailey.
I bet the family loves when you're testing kitchen/dish cleaning products since it means less dishes and cleaning that they have to do. I wouldn't be surprised if they have several fake youtube and Instagram accounts to suggest and recommend cleaning gadgets for you to review, all the time. Haha. 😂
It's nice that they made that anti-bug cap with slits so you can drink through it, but I agree with James when he said that drinking through it knowing that bugs might have been walking on it can be off-putting.
My advice would be to slide it off, take a drink, then slide it back on.
🤯
First time I've seen your videos. Love how diligent you are in testing products out and how down-to-earth you seem.
I remember my mom having something just like the eggy timer when I was a kid in the 80s and 90s. She hated it but never got rid of it.
omg Xpand shoe laces! I have those from when they did their kickstarter.I still really like them and think they look nice. So cool to see you review something I already have and would buy again.
That sofa cup holder is great, it trades leaning forward or over for a coffee table/end table for slight constant anxiety. And we all need slightly bearing anxiety during relax time
To make the egg easier to peel, don't put the egg in ice water. Run a little cold water over it just to the point where you can handle it (it will still be warm) and it will peel much easier. When you shock it in ice water it makes the membrane stick to the white and makes it very difficult to peel.
I've been using the xpand shoe laces for YEARS now and never wear shoes without them. By the way, they're cheaper on the website if you order in bundles. Not uncomfortable at all if installed correctly. Pro tip: I almost always install them too tight and have to loosen a bit once after install. Never cut them immediately after installation (like you did)
For the life of me I can’t get them to be the correct tightness. They are either too loose or too tight.
@@FiorLabhair I normally just put them on the shoes and don't worry about how tight they are. Then I'll put my foot in and adjust them like I would normal laces, loosen all the way to the bottom and come back towards the top. Once I have them good I'll lock them in and trim them but longer than they should be and walk in them for a while. If needed, adjust again. Otherwise trim them down and good to go
Same here, but I just bought elastic band from local sewing shop and tie it on the insides. Half a dollar for a meter, been doing it for 15 years
Quick question to James White, regarding the "pop-the-top" there are some bottles that have shorter necks such as the drink Bawls. Since the premises of "pop-the-top" is using downward force along with clearance to help remove the cap will it still work on the shorter neck bottles?
Thanks. Concise and sensible reviews. If you put a dash of vinegar in the water you cook your eggs in, they'll peel really easily. Also, a reason l liked the can cover is, it would prevent anyone from dropping something in your drink.
Your personality is fun to watch! Have a great day! 😁
“We have a live drink here” made me laugh out loud
Better than live diaper!
White people humor
Your videos are really well-made and this is one of my favourite channels :)
The expand laces look interesting. Since my cat did bite through the laces on my new shoes these might be a good replacement.
"I'm gonna move to a more happening trash can!"
Oscar the Grouch would be proud, sir.
The anti-bee caps have the added benefit that you dont have to put the dirty can directly to your mouth, and during this period this is even more important
But the liquid will still swirl around the dirty pop can top before it reaches your mouth.
Wipe the can top with your shirt before you go to drinking from it if you are worried about it being dirty. I think I was taught that trick when I was 6 or 7
@@ram89572 hope this is a joke cause sure your shirt ain't removing bacteria and viruses.
@@Elesthor Obviously a shirt wouldn't remove such things. But what are you worried about getting on there. They aren't going to live for that long on that can so what is the big worry about a can that has been in a box for 2 months? Or a machine for a week? Are you drinking after someone else? Because the backwash poses more of a threat for transmission at that point than the lip on the can does. Besides that if someone was on the can, the act of drinking is still going to transmit it because the liquid of the drink will come into contact with anything living on that part of the can. Overall though there's really no worry for getting anything from a can top. My guess based on your original comment is that you are worried about the coof being on it. If that's the case then I've got to say that if you are immuno-compromised to the point that you worry about transmission from a can top, then you probably shouldn't be drinking from anything that hasn't been sterilized by you. Otherwise there is no worry over it. The vast majority of people have over a 99.9% survival rate. Hardly worth worrying about. You've just been taken in by a year of media hysteria.
The bottle cap remover is more to preserve it so you can collect them I make mine into magnets and cover the beer fridge with it
I'm a kickstarter backer for the Xpand laces (and the original campaign, the lace anchors, which were basically the plastic bits without the actual laces) and I think they're great. No more having to deal with untied shoelaces while also not having an issue with shoes that are too tight or too lose if you're the kind of person who never unties.
I've been using the elastic laces for a while on different sneakers, and what I like the most is that for low top ones I can use a single lace cut in half to fit both shoes so I get double the laces and no waste.
As someone who is very clumsy, that knife cleaner is the only way I feel safe clean sharp knives.
“I’m gonna move to a more *happening* trash can” 😂
I tensed up so much as you got up and down with that can in the soda stud!
I so look forward to seeing your videos! I absolutely trust your reviews more than anyone else on RUclips. You’re the best!! 👏💜
this guy deserves more attention and subs
The soft boiled looks accurate. U just like it more medium
Second try was good. First time was definitely not cooked far enough.
Bailey is the crowning jewel to any Freakin Reviews video
I have used the xpand shoelaces for probably close to a decade. I love them and highly recommend them especially for people that have circulation issues.
5:33: Bailey is mad that you’re ignoring her.
Bailey's sweet little face 💖💖💖 love her so much!!!
I love freakin reviews!!! You do a great job showing us products and how they stand up to everyday test. Thank you!!
Thank you for your reviews they are always on point.
I've drank a bee before and trust me a sting in your mouth is not fun. Much rather a bug land on it than to drink one.
When I was 5 years old I drank from a can of coke that had a wasp in it, but he didn't have time to sting me cause I bit down (not knowing what it was) the taste of sour wasp blood and soda put me off cokes for a really really long time.😝
I had a cute fuzzy scary bumble bee steal some of my orange soda from the edge of my can once. But normally I tend to drink diet coke & for some reason bugs just don't care for diet coke.
@@Nirrrina no sugar I'm guessing?
@@Lakishia It's either no sugar. Or it's the unnatural chemicals in it. But most likely it's the sugar.
Beekeepers actually feed sugar water to there bees on occasion as a food source. It's why they'll also get into & drink sugary drinks.
I've had several at once trying to steal my sugary orange soda until I poured some on the ground for them.
Review gang checking in 💪
Could you do a review on a viral narwhal floor cleaner? Its like a roomba but with a mop attachment!
You're a true beer hipster and I am jealous at that Bourbon County stout :) Cheers!
I've used the xpand laces ever since their kick starter. I've had no issues with them and use them on most of my shoes. I don't use them on my crosstrainer shoes for working out though.
Thank you for doing these tests. Pop The Top was my Fave.
There’s nothing like one of the steam egg cookers - there are relatively inexpensive versions (like the Dash) and the best part is they make peeling a breeze.
This channel is a great demonstration of how low star reviews are useful. There is always truth in what the low star reviews say.
Awesome way to start off my Sunday!
I've been binge watching your channel all weekend.Bailey's cute but we need to see the other pets more. Another interesting "episode",thanks!🤘
I have no idea why I can't stop watching this content, haha. It's just plain entertaining. Keep up the great work!
Love elastic laces. I can't bend well, but these hold. There was a learning curve putting them on with the clippies, now I just leave them loose and tuck the laces into my shoes.
I've been watching for years now and I think I will be legitimately heartbroken when Bailey makes her last appearance. She's such a goofball and adds so much liveliness to the videos, even as she's showing her age.
Love your videos!! You’ll reach that million subscriber soon
This is the first of your videos I've watched. I'm completely in love with Bailey! I will definitely watch more. Subscribed!
I love the videos with Bailey. The utensil cleaner I wonder if that could be used to clean the top edge of a sauce pan if you boil sauce over 🤔🤷🏻♂️
I already don't untie my shoes so switching to the Xpand laces seems like the logical move
They are really good I’ve been using since they launched on Kickstarter and I’m a big fan!
Great reviews
All stretch laces will wear out depending on your shoe and activity. I've tried several brands.
For strenuous work or exercise they'll wear out a lot faster. IMO, for a pair for low impact and for elderly or those with mobility, strength, and grip issues these are good.
This channel and Vivian Tries are the best that I've been subbed too for over a year.. Love both channels and thankful for them!!

Nice seeing a Sierra Nevada in the mix. I’d like to see Brooklyn make an appearance 😉😉
I would rather Sixpoint from that area, but to each their own.
They only use cans as far as I know, so Brooklyn would work better for this vid.
@@briangereau788 I live in England so our exposure to American lagers and IPA is restricted to supermarkets and weird “bargain” stores. I can buy stuff from Amazon or eBay but the dates on them are always poor and I have to wonder where they’ve been stored during the intervening months as there’s a significant difference in taste. Anyway, just saying, nice to see SN and Brooklyn Lager (and the scorcher ipa for that matter) are ace American beers too.
@@AcornElectron
I'm surprised that you can get Brooklyn in the UK at all. Didn't know they had international distribution.
My Untappd app (highly recommend) tells me I didn't love Scorcher, but I tend to not love the session IPAs. They have one called Defender that I liked a little more. I am a big IPA guy, but we have a lot of choices these days.
I mentioned Sixpoint because they're brewed in the same general area and their beers are bigger and bolder, which may not be to everyone's taste.
Next time you pop one, cheers from across the pond!
@@briangereau788 I’m all over it. The Brooklyn lager is the only lager I’ll still drink as it actually tastes of something akin to a classic Viennese. Unfortunately for me most traditional British IPA taste like an old sock and all British lager is crap. I like the extra citrus but hoppy taste of the American brewed ‘English style Indian Pale Ales’ 🤣 I’m very fussy.
Once it starts getting brewed over here I’ll stop drinking it as it’ll just taste like all the other shite.
@@AcornElectron If you like citrus, try to find a New England style "hazy" IPA. They're often described as "juicy".
Very different experience from most other American IPAs or "West Coast" ones.
I've had Xpand laces since they were on Kickstarter. I love them. So much easier to just slip shows on and off. And you can make them as tight or loose as you want depending on what you use your shoes for.
I find myself watching reviews on here of products I’ve no intention of buying, and probably aren’t available in my country anyway - yet it’s one of my favourite RUclips channels!! 🤣
Last time I was this early, there was a block of paid programming when I woke up.
you can add salt to the water to peel the egg easier
That doesnt affect it
Age and type of the egg is the only two factors that affect peeling

For cleaning silverware, I put in the dishwater first, and by the time I finish with the other dishes, they rarely need to be scrubbed, usually just rinsed. Unless they have been allowed to really dry stuff on.
A regular bottle opener will usually damage the cap, so I think that is more than acceptable 👍
I'm early and I don't know what to say.. uh, nice bottles
i backed expand laces when it was a kickstarter years ago! haha, still have my original set, great product.
The bottle tops, the ones you put on cans with the lid. That's a really good product.
I switched to elastic laces (not the ones you reviewed) a couple of years ago and have never looked back. My 83 year old mom loves them as well. Thanks for another great video. ATB : )
