I love your 💀 🐻!! Back in the 70's it was popular to get custom t-shirts made. We'd go to the t-shirt shop and the walls would be covered in dedigns. Like flash in a tattoo studio. Anyway, you picked out your shirt, your design and the guts made you a shirt. They had the big press type irons but it's basically the same principle. The thing is, those guys always used the old school style chalkboard erasers. The black felt ones. After they press/ironed on the design, they'd glide the eraser all over it to kind of absorb the heat, then use it to hold down the material as he pulled back the backing paper. I haven't tried heat transfer yet but I'm going to start. Thought I'd mention it as it might come in handy if you do a lot of heat transfer stuff
Oh I'm familiar with that process - its great how much easier these tasks have gotten over the years too. Thanks for watching - Happy Holidays to you this year!

One of the best how-to videos for using your Brother Scan N Cut - In fact, all your videos are super informative. Since I use my cutter sparingly, I tend to forget some steps so I consistently refer back to this video. Thank you!

OMG I can't stop laughing!! I love these videos Tock makes....I love his attitude toward all the Jesus comments he gets, this is an amazing sewing/learning community!
This looks like so much fun! It’s amazing that normal people can just go buy a machine to make custom things like this, love how accessible it is to the public and not just to bigger companies or businesses. Also, I wanted to add that I love how you slap stickers all over your machines, wish I could buy them that way because I love stickers too but I’m usually too nervous to actually put them on things I own in fear that I’ll eff it up somehow haha. Maybe one day you can make your own brand of sewing machines etc. and have them come with stickers either already on them or a pack so people can customize the machines how they want with your stickers (wishful thinking)
I love everything about this comment! It truly is amazing that such high quality items can be made with recreational home machines now. Plus it's so damn fun! Obviously I'm a total sticker addict, I can't even help myself (even though my sponsors hate them lol). I adore the idea of having my own line of machines someday with stickers already on them. That is a fantasy I'd love to see materialize someday :) Thanks for your continued support and comments, hope you're having a wonderful week!
Tock Custom sponsors be damned! (Mostly jk of course) I like your more grungy/skater aesthetic and overall badassery compared to a pristine workroom, it feels more real and approachable, especially for guys that are probably interested in sewing and crafting but are maybe worried about it still being more geared towards women/grandmas. Nerds and cosplayers unite!
Thanks bro! I just got this machine and a heat press to do shirts, hats, mugs, etc for my music promotion. You saved me a lot of time and decreased the learning curve drastically! I subbed. Looking forward to what may come next.
Oh that's awesome! I'm excited to do more videos with this machine and other methods of personalizing garments. Have fun with your new machine, there's so much you can do! 😊
Hadn’t thought of this as such a useful tool...I usually buy the Imperial Cog sticker for my car from Etsy...looks like I could make it myself AND make tshirts...cool idea. Thanks for sharing this. Love the videos...they inspire me to keep trying stuff.
I'll be doing some more videos on other ideas very soon (without all the into setup stuff). There's a surprising amount of things you can do with this machine! Thanks for watching :)
man, i've been staring at this machine for a while now... saw one at my local sewing shop, but they have the one preloaded with a ton of clipart, and want twice as much... the lady was pressuring me to buy it... then lied about how it has a bigger scanning bed, and other stuff... turns out, it's just preloaded designs... and i was about to order one, but TCL released the new 2020 tv's today, and i had to buy one... LOL... maybe next month....thanks for the videos... you totally sold me on this machine...
Yeah thats no fun when sales folks lie and pressure you to do stuff. Brother has a full list of specs on their website for its capabilities, so certainly do your own research (or look up videos lol). I'm excited to show what else this can do!
@@TockCustom also, i want to say thank you for your videos... i got myself that shirt pattern, and i'm on my third shirt... used a felted seam like in your seam video for the top of the shoulders and sides... love the way they came out... all thanks to your videos... you're amazing, and helped me out so much...
This is a great video. I learned how to set up my scan n cut with WIFI which has been a huge leap forward for me. Great and concise instructions, thank you. I love your designs and I am so impressed you can sew too.
Yep! Exactly the same principal but for more 'home personal project' applications. Which can be pretty cool depending on your goals. Thanks for watching buddy!
Thanks for the frog tape info. I've never seen it and quickly ordered it for my scan n cut mats. U rock. The tutorial is great. Ur videos are always simple, direct and informative. Happy Holidays!
I am new to your videos as I just got my scan and cut. THANK YOU SO MUCH for making these videos!! So much fantastic easy to follow information for beginners.
Thank you, how many times can we use the vinyl? I have brother CM650W Scan N Cut 2. Can I use it to make t shirts like yours? Please, please, answer my question. That will be a huge help!!!
Great Channel. Picked up a PE-770 and your vid's were critical to setting it up, thanks. For weeding .. I find it much easier to do it while the backing is still attached to the cutting mat. Then peel it all off the mat and cut out individual parts. Haven't seen it mentioned in the comments, and I cut a lot of vinyl.
I love this, your presentation is amazing, ive never heard of the brother scan and cut, i am placing my order now, i was looking into cameo but watching this video made me change my mind and i am going for brother. Thank you so much
Great intro to the ScanNCut. I asked Becky (GoingApeCostume) about her machine and she referred me to your RUclips video. Haven't used this type of cutting machine before but I'm looking around for something that might be able to cut stencils that I can use for airbrushing. Need to do some more checking around but this is definitely a great start to seeing what this type of machine can do.
What was the type of permanent vinal u used for the cup you introduced ? I love the metallic look and that is perm. Please send me the link on where to purchase. Ty
The standard tack mat is used for vinyl, probably why yours didn't hold the vinyl well. I have found that washing the mats under warm water is a great way to remove any dirt etc and revive them a bit.
Hi Tock, Brother has now brought out a special blade just for vinyl cutting and holder. Its finer so you can do really detailed delicate cuts in your patterns, also if you purchase the vinyl cut there is an activation card that releases more designs for vinyl use in Canvas and also a weeding box to use around your design. good video. Have you invested into the cricut easy press to help you with your attachment of vinyl , it produces easy, even heat much better than an iron and not to expensive.
I got some of the new Brother blades, and they work great! I REALLY want one of those larger presses for sure, I've been meaning to get one but haven't had the time lately. I'll be doing quite a few more videos with vinyl cutting projects as soon as I can!
Love it! Just brought a Scan n Cut and watching what you did with your machine. I am very excited about all the possibilities for me. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to more videos.
Definitely a great video for those who are looking into getting this machine and wanting to know how to use it! 😁 I kinda lost it at the skull bear 😆 But that just made the video even more amazing.
Awesome stuff man, have you tried applique embroidery? That scan and cut will be so useful for that. I use scrap fabric and cut it to the shape of the design, then use the embroidery machine to zigzag stitch around the fabric attaching it to the pattern piece.
I'm actually planning a couple videos on applique already! You can do it with the scan n cut, or with an embroidery machine - so there are a couple great options. Thanks for the recommendation!
Excellent tutorial. I loved the way you took your time to explain everything clearly. Great content.. I'm now a new subscriber and I'm going to purchase a machine. Thank you 😊👍
Hi Tock! I was trying to think of what kind of videos I'd like to see you do lol. Could you please do one on putting in elastic around a waistband please? I love all your vids that I've watched and plan on watching all of them! God bless.
Tock Custom yes like pj’s...thank you so much! Just made my first pair of pj bottoms for our ten yr old Granddaughter ...they came out better than expected (🤣🤣) but the waistband wouldnt stretch any wider. Did I not tighten the elastic enough ? I only overlapped the elastic bout half inch before putting under the casing. Youre awesome Tock-thanks for sharing your talent!
Like your sewing courses very much. Learned a lot from you. But regarding T shirts and cutting i have a few tips/sugestions.. For weeding is better to use tweezers. To hold the material down try using clips similar like for loundry drying.. When pelling the backing vinyl off try at a sharp angle..for complex images use printer :)
Thank you so much! Certain types of vinyl come off the film differently, so tweezers would be tough on this particular material, but for stickers and other soft vinyls it works great!. Also you're correct about peeling it at a sharper angle for sure, especially when using transfer tape on other applications :) Thanks for helping people out this this comment. Hope you're having a terrific week!
Excellent job with this video. I really learned a lot. Thanks very much for sharing your knowledge and experience. I did not know about the Brother machine so this was great!
I don’t need to buy this machine. I don’t need to buy this machine. I don’t need to buy this machine. Great video now you have me debating buy another $400 machine hahaha
Apwelch94 Cricut machine are way better and simple to use and if You live in USA you are about to have great treat, they always have great offers and pricing is way cheaper than in UK
Hello and thanks for making this easy-to-understand video! I am restoring some sponsor logos and name/numbers on old vintage soccer jerseys. Why do you recommend the SportFlex HTV instead of the Everyday Iron-On Vinyl? Is one thicker than the other? Thanks, Dave
Thank you great video. Have they stopped adding projects to canvas work space as I was hoping for some great new Christmas projects but there inst any.
Thanks so much for this video - you have helped me decide to go Brother. You mention the machine can cut thin wood - which type of wood would this be? Balsa?

Then peel it all off the mat and cut out individual parts.
Haven't seen it mentioned in the comments, and I cut a lot of vinyl.
PS I'm still always wearing those shirts I tailored with help from one of your tutorials 💖
loved this informative video and really love your workspace
I love this, your presentation is amazing, ive never heard of the brother scan and cut, i am placing my order now, i was looking into cameo but watching this video made me change my mind and i am going for brother. Thank you so much
Great intro to the ScanNCut. I asked Becky (GoingApeCostume) about her machine and she referred me to your RUclips video. Haven't used this type of cutting machine before but I'm looking around for something that might be able to cut stencils that I can use for airbrushing. Need to do some more checking around but this is definitely a great start to seeing what this type of machine can do.
Wooow! Excellent video, you inspire others( from Mexico thanks)
Thank you so much for watching and for the wonderful comment!
Thanks for the great demo! You’ve inspired me to buy the Scan-n-Cut! Thanks again.
This is the best learning vedio that im looking for.....and really excellent job ..thank you
Very happy to help, thanks for watching!
Helpful video! Actually like the shirt! Reminds me of the misfits!
Excellent and super thorough. Keep it up 👍🏻
Great tutorial, the explanation of the process is very easy to follow. Thank you.
You are welcome! Thank you so much for watching 😊
Thank you for this video. I could not find an interesting video for using the machine. Your video came through for me, 'preciate ya!!
Happy this one worked for you! Thanks a ton 😊
This was a great video. When I use an iron to place vinyl, I always iron on reverse too. It seems to "pull" the vinyl through and into the fabric.
Thanks! So it's supposed to "Pull" the vinyl through into the fabric, thats a good thing, yeah?
What was the type of permanent vinal u used for the cup you introduced ? I love the metallic look and that is perm. Please send me the link on where to purchase. Ty
Great video my friend! OMG I could think of so many uses for one of those. May look into one at some point. Keep up the amazing content!
Thanks a ton Rabbers!! Call me sometime, it's been foreverrrrrr WTF is wrong with us!?
@@TockCustom No clue, but I think about you all the time. That has to count for something right?
I want one. It looks like a tool I may need. I can cut Quilt Patterns too if it does Fabric. I like everything Brother. Thank you.
Yep, you can certainly cut fabric and use it for quilting and applique work :)
Love it! Just brought a Scan n Cut and watching what you did with your machine. I am very excited about all the possibilities for me. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to more videos.
Love your pants! Reminds me of 1968!
lol thank you! I made these pants as a joke for a golf outing, and still wear them all the time :)
Definitely a great video for those who are looking into getting this machine and wanting to know how to use it! 😁 I kinda lost it at the skull bear 😆 But that just made the video even more amazing.
Hahahahaha! I was trying to make the dumbest thing ever while teaching the basics... mission accomplished 🤣
I actually want to create the skull bear shirt.
Great tutorial. I hope you are a Brother rep.
Thank you! I sure am, they partnered me last year because I love their machines so much :)
Helped a lot me thinking of starting my business
Omg you totally should! Now is the best time to do it!
Thank you 😊👍
Thanks for the sub! I can't wait to show a ton of other techniques you can do with this machine 😀
Hi Tock! I was trying to think of what kind of videos I'd like to see you do lol. Could you please do one on putting in elastic around a waistband please? I love all your vids that I've watched and plan on watching all of them! God bless.
Oh I could totally do a video on that, like for pajama pants, right? That would be super easy :)
Youre awesome Tock-thanks for sharing your talent!
thank you for your tutorial, really good at explaining, you are awesome man
Happy to help! Thanks for watching 😀
Thank you I’m looking at get a machine in future very good clear tutorial hoping you do more so I can understand to get the best from the machine 😊
Also you're correct about peeling it at a sharper angle for sure, especially when using transfer tape on other applications :)
Thanks for helping people out this this comment. Hope you're having a terrific week!
Now I absolutely need one of these machines, you're a good salesman lol 😎💸
Can it cut anything other than vinyl? Like cork or fabric? I'm thinking pattern pieces for a sewing project. Thank you - very clear demo.
Great vid Tock...been lookin for this class for a min...👍👍
That machine is so cool🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Yeah! I'm already planning some new videos to do with this since there are so many projects it can do. Thanks for watching!
Fanfreakingtastic! Thank you so much.
sound like great machine, need to know does it do Rhinestones ???????
Just bought a scan n cut and this was SOOOO helpful! Thank you!
Fantastic video, commentary and love your styles. As a newbie to scan n cut and heat vinyl after watching feel positive try this. Thank you 😊
I can't afford this machine so I just came here to see a gorgeous guy :-D
Ha! You're too kind
The voice, the hands, the looks AND he sews! oh my gosh! :)
@@kimberlystahl1746 Oh knock it off :D

Excellent job with this video. I really learned a lot. Thanks very much for sharing your knowledge and experience. I did not know about the Brother machine so this was great!
You expkaon things so easy for a person to understand, tfs.
In His Grace Lorisa
I don’t need to buy this machine. I don’t need to buy this machine. I don’t need to buy this machine.
Great video now you have me debating buy another $400 machine hahaha
Hahahaha, I thought the same thing when I was considering this... I'm happy I bought the damn thing! Thanks for watching :)
Apwelch94 Cricut machine are way better and simple to use and if You live in USA you are about to have great treat, they always have great offers and pricing is way cheaper than in UK
How can I sell $400 +200 in material to expense this whole thing?
That is the convo in my head. :)
Can you do multi-colored applications of vinyl?
Great video!!
That is the question I Have
Hello and thanks for making this easy-to-understand video! I am restoring some sponsor logos and name/numbers on old vintage soccer jerseys. Why do you recommend the SportFlex HTV instead of the Everyday Iron-On Vinyl? Is one thicker than the other? Thanks, Dave
They're about the same thickness, but the sport-flex is much stretchier, so it'll hold up better on knits and athletic wear
@@TockCustom Thanks for the quick reply! Have you used any brands other than Cricut vinyl? I see Siser seems to be a competitor.
Thank you great video. Have they stopped adding projects to canvas work space as I was hoping for some great new Christmas projects but there inst any.
I can't actually say - I always design my own projects. Maybe I should look at the pre-made projects more often :P
LOVE THE SHIRT...UNIQUE
lol - and I thought this shirt was so stupid. I mean it is, but its still cool :)
Thanks for watching!
Tock this is amazing! Loved watching it. Thank you.
Thanks you so much for watching, happy to help out :) Hope you have an excellent week!
Nicely done!!
Thank you very much! I appreciate you watching!
Thanks so much for this video - you have helped me decide to go Brother. You mention the machine can cut thin wood - which type of wood would this be? Balsa?
