For cake's sake. I spent two days watching a 77-video series on using the Brother I got for Christmas. I then spent another day doing intricate things with my printer, Illustrator and registration marks. You solved my problem rather instantly-the other series never mentioned this function. Thanks so much.
Just to help you out, the papered chef will trace her images with a pencil that aren’t picked up by the machine and then it will read it then she goes back and erases the pencil marks off the original,.... great video, Thank you so much for taking the time to demonstrate, I’m getting my machine in two weeks for my birthday and I’m so excited to get to use it!
New subbie. Thank you so much for uploading. This was a great video. I'm old and have zero tech skills. I've wanted one of these machines for a long time, but I saw a demonstration on a PBS show which uses various Brother products, and the cutting machine they had was connected to a computer and there was so much activity just to cut out an image, I knew I'd never figure it out, but your instructions were beautiful and simple. I don't mind fussing cutting, but the results are never perfect. I make journals, and now I really want one of these. So, I'm going to start a scan and cut fund. What was really funny, though, one of the ads they showed during the video was from Cricket, who claimed it was the best on the market .... I have a color laser printer -- worst buy of my life. It's a Lexmark. The toner cartridges cost between $85 to $125 and they do not last at all, and there are no compatible ones on the market, and you can't refill them. To use it, I'd have to purchase four new toner cartridges at nearly $400 -- I'm saving for an HP -- but images printed with a laser printer on presentation paper are so beautiful anyway, this is icing on the cake. I also do decoupage, and this is a game changer.
I just wanted to say thank you for the simple to follow instructions. I have had my machine about 4 years and it has gathered dust. Any video I have watched, left me feeling lost and uneasy with attempting to cut items out. Today she gets dusted off and used. Also moved to an area where my mat can go from one end to the other. I make cards for cancer patients every year, all year. In my rush to get more done, I had not taken the time to search for easy to understand instructions. I truly wish brother offered zoom classes so we could interact with a person. I know there are others out there who are gathering dust on their machines as well. I reached my goal of making 5000 cards this year, along with cards from other crafters added as well, so I had some time to waste. Thank you truly.
I'm so glad this helped. I too had trouble finding instructions on how to use it and that's one of the reasons I made the video. Have fun with your "new" toy!! Thanks for watching!
And now I know how to cut images without a white border YAY! thank you so much! I have been wrangling this problem so when I went back to your tutorial I found your solution!!! In my books, you are Number 1 on youtube!!!!!
Wow! Thank you for your kind words. It’s crazy that the shop that has classes doesn’t know how to do this. I had a hard time finding the information too, which is why I did the video after I figured it out. Thanks for watching!
I just came upon your channel and watch the tutorial as I got my Scan n cut just 2 days ago. Thank you for this amazing tutorial. Now I will know how to use my machine❤
Exactly what the comments below say. Thanks. Even though I have a CM 300, I can pick up from your tutorial which is easy for me to follow. Greetings from The Netherlands.
Glad this was helpful! Thank you for watching. I’ve only driven through a small part of the Netherlands in the south, but hope to visit again sometime!!
Excellent video..straigntforward and to the point....thanks...I didn't have to fast forward through camera adjustments, dog barking, talk about what you had for breakfast and other rather needless falderal☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️ thank you.
I liked your video a lot! Suggest that you try scanning in black and white first, then if the contrast isn’t enough, switch to color recognition. 90% of the time, I get great results with the black and white scan, no matter what color the image is in. Impressive demo with the birds!
You did a fabulous job explaining the scan and cut with these images. I'm still trying to decide if I need one of these awesome machines. Thanks for the video!
You don’t take anything for granted, giving all the Incas you go. You are a very good teacher. You’re prepared and don’t talk about unrelated topics! Excellent presentation 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
Have just begun looking for scan and cut machines (got interested from watching TV selling channel "Create and Craft" where they used a Brother Scan and Cut machine. There were also many items of images for sale, i.e., on USB or on printed papers which offered dies for cutting (they are expensive and am retired on fixed income). Because of this excellent demo, I now understand that I will not have to buy the dies if I buy this machine. I will have to research what materials I might use and which ones this machine will cut. Thank you for a clear and step-by-step explanation of how easy this is to use.
I’ve struggled to find demo that is straightforward and the instructor doesn’t waffle! This was absolutely brilliant. I stamped a whole load of flowers, I don’t have die cuts for these, and I did a small border which was amazing. Thank you for easy to understand, clear instructions.
This is a game changer for print and cut. I have a Cricut and I’m bound to 6/9 print but a full page no boundaries especially a print for a shirt. I love it.
Wow, I learned a lot about my new brother Scan and cut. I bought it just for that to cut out stamp images so I don’t have to buy dies. Thanks for your great video 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Mine is out for delivery today & I'm soo excited to start using it, I've been binging on so many videos! Thx for the great tutorial, very thorough & informative 😊
Thank you for this fantastic tutorial. I just got my Scan n Cut and have been looking at tutorials but couldn't find one that was easy to understand and didn't include a lot of unnecessary detail. I followed your directions and have now cut my first page of objects. This is the best video for sure!
Finally, A tutorial that simply explains a basic scan and cut! I've had my machine for months and have driven myself crazy trying to do a simple cut. Most tutorials show the basics on some relic instead if the current machines. I am pretty computer savvy so I really feel sorry for purchasers who are not. Hopefully, I am bow going to take my very basic picture and cut it out. I have shared this tutorial with myself so if I forget anything I can rewatch. Big hugs for your beautiful video. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU❤❤❤❤❤
This tutorial is just so clear to understand. The step-by-step explanations were brilliant and you demonstrated the exact cutting ability of the machine I am looking for! Thank you so much
Very interesting video, thank you! I am a rubber stamper and am seriously thinking of purchasing one of these machines. I had a Cricut machine years ago, but got frustrated with it and sold it because I wasn't able to cut my stamped images with it. A ScanNCut machine would save me a lot of time and frustration! Many thanks - stay well:-)
I am looking into buying the Brother Scan N Cut. The price right now is $399, would you mind sharing how much it was for Christmas? I wanted to know if it was worth waiting till the holidays.
Very helpful tutorial! I have the 125 machine too but have had a love/hate relationship with it. So, I gave up for awhile, your instructions were so clear and I stamped some images and cut them out today and happy to say they cut great! Now to color them for future cards! LOL Thanks so much for doing this video!
Yay!! Glad it was helpful. I have those times where I sort move on to something else and when I come back it's not as hard as I thought! Thanks for watching!
Hey thanks for the refresher. I have an older version. You remind me that everytime I am about to purchase die cuts to go with my stamp sets, that I have a Scan n Cut, and I dont need to spend that money! I love my Scan n Cut.
Thank you so very much for this detailed how to video I am going to be purchasing one of these.. might sound crazy but mainly for stamped images.. I have the cricut maker but am not tech savvy, and don’t know how to get stamps to cricut DS.. 🤦♀️
That’s the perk of this machine. With the Cricut you have to have or be able to make an SVG in the shape of your stamps in order to cut them out or do print then cut, which limits the materials you can use. Good luck!!
thanks for the straight forward video just what i was looking for.I needed to know how this machine did with cutting stamp images and you got to the point fast. I could now buy this machine
They have a new one out. It’s less cost but think it does much or all of the same things. It’s on Amazon, is pale green/yellow and I get mine today! Brother ScanNCut SDX85 Electronic DIY Cutting Machine with Scanner, Make Vinyl Wall Art, Appliques, Homemade Cards and More with 251 Included Patterns
Hi I am new to your channel I just recently got a brother scan & cut matter a fact it still in the box I don’t no a thing about this but I heard so much about it and was told it was easy.Well this is so informational I am a more so see and learn person Thank You❤
Hey bud l have this machine and it's younger brother and love them both, l do not know if you do not know but you can make your own stamps, rhinestone layouts and embossing folders and not forgetting white work l have had my first machine for over 5 years and still can not find what it can not do you will love learning with this great machine great vid
Awesome video, and just what I was looking for! Thanks for sharing and for the very well done tutorial! Also, just subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to viewing your previous videos and to all of your new ones!!!
Thanks so much for this video I am wanting one of these for the exact same reason. I have arthritis in my hands and hours spent detail cutting is getting too much. Very well explained and with information I can use.
I have to "ditto" what some of the other gals have been saying. I started my electronic cutting life with a Cameo and got very frustrated with how it cut images. Irregular outlines etc. Then I went on to a Cricut Air which I quite liked and found easy to use. Finally, I upgraded to the Cricut Maker. I love the machine for what it does. But, I find that lately, I am doing more fussy cutting from DSP and it is very hard on my wrists. And, I don't do a very good job! 😉. So, I have just ordered this machine today. I have watched some videos and I am finding contradicting information about what mats are included with the machine. Could you clarify that for me please, and tell me if I need to order some different types of mats? Thanks. 🙂
Really excellent video indeed ! Now I see the difference between the Brother where you have freedom to bring any design, and the Cri-Cut where you depend on the template shapes. 🎈 🙋🏻♀️ Thank you very much
What a great tool this has turned out to be! Thanks for this great tutorial! I get stuck in the process when it's time to cut. Thanks for helping me out!
I am jumping for joy! I know sounds daft! I have been trying so many different ways to solve this problem and I even went to a sewing and brother business who run classes for newbies and they didn't know how to solve this issue!
Your video was very helpful. I've had my Brother Scan N Cut DX 125 for a little over a year. I wasn't sure how to get a good cut out of patterned paper. Thank you for the information.
THE BEST VIDEO I'VE FOUND!!! Thanks for making this so simple. Yours is the easiest, step-by-step directions! Thank you!!! I've been overwhelmed trying to figure out how to do the fussy cutting. You made it awesome! Thanks!!!
Thanks for the video. Even though mine is older it is time for me to get it out and learn how to use it. I know what I'll be doing Sat! Thanks. Hope to see more videos on how you use yours.
Wish it looked a lot more pretty looking. But wow. This machine seems so underrated. Especially compared to cricut or silhouette. I never heard of this until I actually searched for other cutting machines.
Be careful when you're bending the mat like that. If you get a crease in the plastic it is almost impossible to flatten it back out! I had some new mats shipped to me that got all bent up due to poor packaging. I tried flexing the mats back in the opposite direction by as severe a crease they had. I had to stop because I thought the mats were going to split apart. I'd already gotten 2 new replacement mats. I was told to keep the damaged ones. If the crease is near the end of the mat like mine are it still leaves you with plenty of useful mat space to use. But if you ever had to run the mat all the way through it might cause collisions with the scanner or misfeed. No need to rely on the stylus as you can control the screen with your fingers and finger nails. You should turn the beep notice back on because it makes it alot easier to know when a button press on the screen has been registered. At least at first until you figure out the proper amount of pressure needed to actually "click" or press the onscreen buttons. For regular copy paper or printing paper you should be using the low tack mats. Standard tack mats are way too sticky to be used for this sort of work. Or if you're going to use a standard mat at least use one with some wear so that it is less tacky.
Thank you so much. I bought a Cricut Explorer Air 2 for Christmas and it never would cut anything right. They sent me new blades ect and still was crap. I sent it back finally because they stopped communicating with me when I asked for a refund or my money back. Thank goodness I bought it on Amazon as they take back no questions asked. I am just now over my disappointment and looking for a better machine. Now to go and see your set up video. Thanks again as I am a newbie and need all the help I can get.
New subbie here! Thank you for sharing this- it is very informative. I am looking at a scan n cut right now. I want it for the same reason. I don't like fussy-cutting either.
Excellent video! Please do more videos for the Brother Scan N Cut 125. Have had mine a couple of years, and still don't understand all it is capable of doing. Thanks!
What's the biggest size will it cut? I'm also confused on how did u get your image to print so does it print the image or will I need a printer that uses sub ink or does it operate like Cameo meaning import the image and it'll scan and cut it the way you have imported the image from software like Photoshop?
I Love your video's I have CM350 scan and CUT I also have Brother quattro2 sewing machine- Do you know If I Can scan my ART work and send it to my Machine I think I can But NOT sure how to do it.
Finally a video that sticks to the topic and is easy to follow! Looking for more from you for sure.
Thank you for the compliment! I'm glad it was helpful.

Great idea!!!! Now I know how to get plain silhouettes to stack under coloured images!!! Thank you!
This was just what I was looking for!! Took a class and the instructor didn't know how to do this! Geez! Thank you!!!
Glad it helped. This is the biggest reason I bought the ScanNCut and was also having trouble finding a good explanation! Thanks for watching.

Great tip! It makes sense that it would see the contrast better in B&W. I will definitely try that. Thank you.
This is exactly why I bought the Scan N Cut us to cut out stamped images! Thank you for this great how to!
You did a fabulous job explaining the scan and cut with these images. I'm still trying to decide if I need one of these awesome machines. Thanks for the video!

Can you create female stencils with this machine for spray painting, thanks.

Great tutorial. Can’t wait to see others.
Just for my machine. Can’t wait to use it.
Thanks!

Fabulous tutorial thank you. I have just purchased a Scan n Cut so need to learn fast!
What's the biggest size will it cut?
I'm also confused on how did u get your image to print so does it print the image or will I need a printer that uses sub ink or does it operate like Cameo meaning import the image and it'll scan and cut it the way you have imported the image from software like Photoshop?

I think you are asking if you can use this for vinyl. Yes you can. It works similar to a Cricut or Silhouette machine.
