I need you to come to my house to do this🤷♀️ I’m going to watch while I’m doing it. Hands on is how I remember! Thank you, I’ve used my scan n cut more in the last month than the last two years ❤️
My first cutting machine was the KNK Zing. It was the most advanced machine back then. It ran off the MTC software. It is the best software for designing your own SVG files. I now use it to design SVG and other stuff for my brother scan and cut because the brother workspace program lacks in being able to easily design a svg image. I use MTC all the time to design my own files. I love the MTC software. I highly recommend. You can do even so much more with it. I can take images and turn them into line images to draw with on my brother scan and cut. This software allows you to remove all the noise in the image and clean it up so you have a perfect image to draw. It also has a rhinestone pattern maker included in it if you did not buy brothers kit. Plus lots more. It is a very valuable tool once you learn it. It is a fairly simple software to learn. You will use it all the time. She just touched the tip of the iceberg in this video. Love, Love, Love MTC. Thanks for sharing and letting others know.
I told my bestie that I'm getting a circut during black Friday deals. She's like what about a brother scan and cut? I said I have no clue what that is. I looked it up and I'm like omg yes I'll take it. She has like 3 machines. I'm so lucky. I can't wait. So now I'm learning about it.
Thanks so much. Someday I may have a newer Cricuit. I have one of the older Expressions and it won't hook up to Design Space at all so I'm sunk. I can only use the cartridges that cae with it and I have bought... but maybe someday....... love how you show how to make the SVG file. I look forward to more videos on these subjects as I am also in the process of opening a new Etsy shop for digitals only, and would love to make SVG files a part of my inventory!

I usually scan items I want to cut out and use it that way. I know I can much more, but if was never motivated to figure it out. Your videos are very helpful.
This eliminates the need for Design Space, as you can easily make your own SVG Files. Design Space is over $15 a month (CAD) so Make The Cut pays for itself in no time 😉💗 (Once you get the hang of things lol 😁)

Thanks so much for doing this video. I watched it when you first posted it and rewatched it again this morning. I don't have a separate program so I just tried using the Brother Canvas program. It seemed to work for me this time. Your tutorial was so perfect. I hope you continue to do these tutorials for the Scan N Cut.

You are a wonderful teacher! You explained everything so concisely yet thoroughly! I look forward to more Scan and Cut tutorials. I also bought the machine to avoid spending so much on dies. One thing that is frustrating though is when there is a small break in the stamped image and I have to fill in a pencil line for every break in a sketch. Do you have a quicker and cleaner way of addressing that?
Thank you SO MUCH for this tutorial. The tip of how to load all the colors on your mat and cut at once is especially helpful! I can't wait to start trying to make some svgs too.
You did an awesome job. I tried to get sure cuts wayyyy back when but have never used make the cut. This should be very helpful for people to make their own SVGs.

I saw the penguins and immediately fell in love 💕 I literally just found your channel, and subscribed. I just got my Maker and this was so informative and helpful. Thank you
I have a Cameo (the original) but I just got the same Scan n Cut you have for Christmas. I decided to get it because I was tired of fussy cutting and because I watched your video on how to avoid resticking your mat (I'd read a lot about how quickly Brother mats lose their stickiness). I'm so glad you're doing more videos on SnC.
@@_MyInkieFingers You are SO right! There are some good tutorials out there, if you can cut through all the chatter. I'm so happy to hear you'll be doing more and will be cheering you on as you crush the market! 😆😂
Is MAKE THE CUT still available? I just recently found you and I’m really loving everything you’re sharing, but I know this video is older and I can’t seemed to find the MTC system
Hi, Cindy-Lynn. I just wanted to let you know I'm filing adoption papers Monday and soon you'll be my new daughter! You'll love Texas. Well, at least until the summer, when you;ll probably hate it. But you'll love the food. But probably hate the politicians. Well, it's a trade-off, right? Anyway, I'm looking forward to learning so much from you. Perhaps I'm delusional today. Nonetheless I loved this video. I love my Scan n Cut but because of poor vision I can't seem to master Canvas. I think I'll buy the Make-the-Cut software and maybe I can figure it out on my own, or with your help! Thanks for the excellent videos. Inspiring and cheerful. Creative and endearing. Let me know if you want to move to Texas!!!!!!!
Lol Diane. I'm NOT a morning person AT ALL and I read all my comments in the mornings which tends to set me off sometimes because of the mean or stupid things people say. (Don't worry I normally forget about quickly though lol) But this morning was different I found myself laughing out loud. Literally. Thanks for starting my day off on the right foot 😁 💗💗
If you are really into making your own SVG there is also a program call Sure Cuts A Lot both a standard and a Pro version. I have had my scanncut for a number of years but don't use it enough to warrant buying any program. I do have an older Silhouette SD. The software that comes with that is pretty darn good. I do have the upgraded version of it. Again I haven't used it enough in a long while. I dream of a bigger machine, but why as I am not crafting. :(
This video was very informative, I didn’t even use mine yet. But I will soon and I’m glad you showed how to do an svg because I will use that often. Thanks for taking the time to share with us.
@@_MyInkieFingers I have everything I need to start but I haven’t been feeling well so I haven’t done cards since before Christmas. I will soon though because valentines is coming to fast lol.
Hallo Inky Fingers, thanks for this tutorial! I did watch your video about the spray to use to stick your image for cutting. I just want to know, will the spray not damage your blade? Please let me know as my mats are not sticky any more!
Thanks for the video. I am looking forward to seeing more. I looked for other videos on Make the Cut. They are 11-12 years old. Surely the software has updated since then. I am curious to see what else can be done with the software. Thanks again.
I've used MTC for years with my Cricut Expression but it died last year. I have a new Cameo 4 and haven't be able to figure out how to use MTC with it. Can't wait to see if these instuctions help me navigate this . Thank you!
I’m not sure what I want to cut but I sure love these tips!! Thanks again for all the information you can provide for the Cricut & SNC!! I don’t know how to use my Cricut and/or Design Space at all. My SNC, I am learning, but SLOWLY…. VERY SLOWLY 🥺.
scan n cut gurllll. you get a free scanner in it.. and no wifi needed .. you can travel with it, plus it allows you to go online to create with canvas, but you can also DL their design program too, all FOR FREE..
Thank you 😊 Fantastic video Tutorial .Your Amazing!! ✨ I’ve just had a cricut maker for my Birthday . Hoping to make & sell things to pay for college supplies. New Sub!! Hey from UK ✨✨💖

An even easier way to cut multiple colors on one mat in Cricut….. Place the images in DS and match those up on your mat. Then select all of your images and “Attach”. This will keep all your images where you put them in DS and cut them the same way on your mat.
Hi, I'm curious when you mentioned you were afraid to use a USB stick (when you said your machine turned off for 20 minutes), maybe it is because you had multiple files on that stick? The concept is crazy, but you are only allowed to have one file at a time on a stick when you do that sometimes depending on your model. I hope that makes sense. I am glad to see you branching out to teaching us so many different types of media! Thank you!
I had one file. I made it, transferred it to Canvas, out on the stick, then stuck it in my machine. The machine turned off, perhaps crashed? I had to play with it for 20 mins. Unplugging, plugging it back in, rinse and repeat. Worry, get mad, get sad... then it worked! What an emotional rollercoaster! lmao 🤣🤣
I have a Cricut Maker, a Joy, and an older SNC. I also have an OOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLDDDDD Silhouette (from before Cameo was released) that is in a box buried somewhere. LOL! I love the idea of making SVG's in MTC... can you make more intricate images? Layered designs like your penguins? Speaking of which I'm going to have to come back every day until I see the link to the file, they are super adorable!
That sounds reeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaallly OLD! lmao 🤣🤣 MTC can make the most intricate dies. It's shocking what it will pick up. I'll do many more tutorials so stick around Victoria 😁💗
Hi Cindy. I like your video. I have a Brother SnC, and am interested in the Make the Cut Software, but when I go to their website, I am wondering does it work with the latest Windows operating systems. Verna, in Australia.
This is all good to know, I've had problems with Ink Space, especially using a Mac. FYI, in the Cricut I'll change all the images to one color and then add my colored paper in the areas I've placed the corresponding image so I don't have to fool the machine into thinking I reloaded the mat ... just saying 😂
Yes, you can do that for sure! I suppose I could have just showed it that way, but it's still a great hack when you have multiple colors for larger layered projects 😁💗
I also use the least amount of cutting mats as possible. I try to get all my images onto 1 mat if I can. This also depends on the types of materials being used and how big or complex the project is. If I only have a few images and their colours are easy to remember, then I will change them all to the same colour before hitting “Make It”. Then I simply move my images on my digital mat to match where I placed the coloured material on my cutting mat. If I’m working on an intricate project that has many colours and lots of pieces, I hit “Make It” leaving all different colours in the project. I move the images on each digital coloured mat into different areas. For example: the red digital mat would have all the images moved into the left upper corner; the white digital mat into the right upper corner; black in the left lower corner, etc. This way I can see how much material (cardstock, vinyl, etc.) is needed for each colour. It also makes it easier to move the images onto 1 digital mat later. Next I place my different coloured materials onto my cutting mat, matching the colours to the corresponding digital mats (red vinyl in the left upper corner, white vinyl on the right upper corner…) Finally, I move the images from each digital coloured mat onto 1 digital mat (usually the lightest colour so it’s easy to see). Having multiple colours on 1 mat saves a lot of time! You don’t have to change mats, which means less time making sure it’s even in the machine. It also helps keep your project in one place so things don’t go missing. If I need to kiss cut one of the images or colours, and I know when it was cut, then I pause the machine, remove the blade until I get to that image or colour; then replace the blade until the images are recut. At that time I can either remove the blade again, until the Cricut finishes, or pause the machine and cancel the remaining cuts. If the images were cut in random order or I don’t know the order, then I carefully remove the materials with the completed images and replace it with scrap material just to protect the mat. I have found that keeping the same type of products grouped together is also important. For example: try to use the same weight of paper or the same brand of vinyl on 1 mat OR use 1 mat for glitter vinyls and another mat for regular vinyl. Some brands of vinyl have different cutting pressure so if you can try to use the same brand for the different colours it makes it easier to get proper cuts, even if you have to do a kiss cut after. I hope that made sense.
I wish this software was still available. I didn't see one on your channel, but by any chance have you come up with an alternative to inkscape since this video? If so, can you please point me to it? Thank you! I loved this video and have subscribed 😊
@@_MyInkieFingers I found it and yes you can download it but it's only good for 90 days and you cannot activate it as there's no one there to do so. There's even people there on the website questioning that already own it how to put it on to a new computer and there is no way to activate it for them either. 🥺
Thanks I learned alot. I tried out the steps in Sure Cuts A Lot and they worked. I have not tried it with files that have fold lines on them. I want to cut an object that has fold lines. Are there different steps that I need to do for files that have fold lines?
Do you know if this machine works with uneven papers below 3 mm thick? I'm a collage artist looking to no longer murder my paper cutter blades and time.
im aware this was a few years old but is there a program similar to make a cut? that works just as well with the brother work space? im new to all this and i am really interested in learning as much as i can however i dont know how to create layers from an image in the work space (crying for help) lol
I neeeeeeeeed that video on the penguins! They’re my absolutely favorite and I’ve been wanting to decorate my cricut but nothings has been like yes until now!

@@_MyInkieFingers I clicked the link. I did it from my phone. So i don’t know if that could be the reason why. Even tho I have DS on my phone. It’s an iPhone 12. My daughter broke my macbook so I’ve been doing everything from my phone. It took me to open it and once in DS is when it gave me the message.
Great tutorial. I think it's important to understand that both Make The Cut and Sure Cuts alot are made by the same developers. Sure Cuts alot is the newer program between the two. While these programs are not what one would deem as "compatible" with cricut, just like the tutorial shows, files can be easily exported. These are wonderful programs that capabilities far exceed Design Space. I have a cricut Joy, Air 2 and Brother Scan and Cut SDX.
I just reached out to SCAL and they told me they are not affiliated in anyway and they did not develop the program. Shame as they responded rather quickly.
Make the cut unfortunately is no longer in business, he retired from it. There is a group to keep the files up. I had it from the beginning . But you can no longer update it. And it is definitely not owned by the same company.
@@stacyjones200 What you said made total sense to me. In fact, after seeing SCAL (they sent me a copy) I think they are so very similar. I would have thought the same thing for sure. Apparently not though. Oh well, no biggie 😉💗

How does MTC compare to Sure Cuts A lot? I use the multiple colour trick but move the images to one mat so you don't even have to unload and reload. Saves wear and tear on the machine and mats and saves time.
I just checked the website for the software you recommended. It states that the software is NOT comparable with Cricket. Just FYI. Thank you for this video. 🙂

I saw the penguins and immediately fell in love 💕
I literally just found your channel, and subscribed.
I just got my Maker and this was so informative and helpful.
Thank you
This is exactly what my scan n cut is missing. Thanks for sharing.
It sure does simplify things. I'm happy you enjoyed it Alice 😊💗
I want to make a t shirt transfer on brother scan n cut. Thanks for video.
I'm certainly doing more SnC videos! There isn't enough "Straight to the Point" ones out there. I'm planning on crushing the market! 🤣🤣🤣

It is. In fact my harddrive died in Dec and I downloaded it a few weeks later 😉
Awesome thank you I’ll keep looking for it thank you❤
Pm me privately if you're still struggling. (IG or FB)
I've been using MTC since it was first developed! Love it! Don't see many videos using it anymore.
I love it too! It's such a hidden gem 💗😁
Yeah more videos for the SNC!
And more to come 😉💗
If you are really into making your own SVG there is also a program call Sure Cuts A Lot both a standard and a Pro version. :(
I enjoy your various videos very much. I wish you were demonstrating the Silhouette Cameo though. Thank you!
If the company wants to send me one I will add it to my videos lol 😁💗
Hello. Thank u SO much for making this tutorial. I just found ur channel, & have subscribed to it. Looking forward to seeing ur videos 😉💕
How do you export your svg made in Cricut to a file on your computer I loved your video 😊

Hallo Inky Fingers, thanks for this tutorial! I did watch your video about the spray to use to stick your image for cutting. I just want to know, will the spray not damage your blade? Please let me know as my mats are not sticky any more!
I still do this today and have changed my blade once since the video. 😉💗
Yes! Blessing I found you.
I'm glad you found me too Lisa 😊💗
Thanks for the video. I am looking forward to seeing more. I looked for other videos on Make the Cut. They are 11-12 years old. Surely the software has updated since then. I am curious to see what else can be done with the software. Thanks again.
I'm not sure it has. But it still works just like the day I got it waaaaay back then 😉💗
great vid, I’m a new subbie. Glad to be. 🦌❤️📚
Is the new Make the cut for a mac 4.6 the same as what you explain in the video?
I don't know about a *new* MTC program. But there is a Make The Cut (MTC) Facebook page apparently so maybe they can offer you more information. 😊
Thank you so much for this video. So useful and really it opens up a world to me. I have a ScanNCut and I used it not as much as I would like.
Well let's change that! I have many more SnC video ideas 😁💗

I've used MTC for years with my Cricut Expression but it died last year. I have a new Cameo 4 and haven't be able to figure out how to use MTC with it. Can't wait to see if these instuctions help me navigate this . Thank you!
Just export your files then import to Cameo. Just like in the video except you'll be using a cameo. Have fun! 😊💗

An even easier way to cut multiple colors on one mat in Cricut…..
Place the images in DS and match those up on your mat. Then select all of your images and “Attach”. This will keep all your images where you put them in DS and cut them the same way on your mat.
Please, please, please.... make more of this tutorial videos. Thanks!!🌻
Thanks
Learned a lot. Will try with my scan n cut at some point
Hi, love your video. Can this process be done frontman a picture? Thank you
I'm sorry, I don't understand your question? 🤔
Loved this video.
What an emotional rollercoaster! lmao 🤣🤣
Is this program similar to Sure Cuts A Lot that I purchased about the time I purchased my first Cricut around 2009?
Yes, it's similar 😊
I have windows 11 and it works. That's pretty much all I can tell you. 😏❤️
Mind blown!!!
Is this similar to sire cuts a lot
This is all good to know, I've had problems with Ink Space, especially using a Mac. FYI, in the Cricut I'll change all the images to one color and then add my colored paper in the areas I've placed the corresponding image so I don't have to fool the machine into thinking I reloaded the mat ... just saying 😂
Yes, you can do that for sure! I suppose I could have just showed it that way, but it's still a great hack when you have multiple colors for larger layered projects 😁💗
@@_MyInkieFingers oh wise one, your way was excellent advice ❤️
@@janetcasey7355 Tee Hee you're too cute 😊💗
Thanks!
Thank you 💗💗

Thanks I learned alot. I tried out the steps in Sure Cuts A Lot and they worked. I have not tried it with files that have fold lines on them. I want to cut an object that has fold lines. Are there different steps that I need to do for files that have fold lines?

How cool is thsg
Great tutorial. I think it's important to understand that both Make The Cut and Sure Cuts alot are made by the same developers. Sure Cuts alot is the newer program between the two. While these programs are not what one would deem as "compatible" with cricut, just like the tutorial shows, files can be easily exported. These are wonderful programs that capabilities far exceed Design Space. I have a cricut Joy, Air 2 and Brother Scan and Cut SDX.
I was not aware they are owned by the same people. Perhaps I'll contact SCAL as they don't reply to emails at MTC. Thanks! 😁
@@_MyInkieFingers ok, wow darn. I thought they used the same developer group. Sorry about that.
@@stacyjones200 What you said made total sense to me. In fact, after seeing SCAL (they sent me a copy) I think they are so very similar. I would have thought the same thing for sure. Apparently not though. Oh well, no biggie 😉💗
