@@davidferreras2985 You know it’s funny, I live in New York and I would try to catch the West Coast games in the 80’s and 90’s because they played a more fun wide-open style. I saw many Tom Chambers dunks but, I forgot how fast this man was and how agile he was.

Those Sonics with Dale Ellis, the X man and Tom Chambers made me fall in love with basketball. Tom and Dale are so underrated….
It's a mystery that he isn't in the HOF. When you are, at the time it occurred, only one of 22 people to score 20,000+ points in NBA history, it's a no-brainer.
So ahead of his time. Chambers was doing stuff in the early 80s that was previously unseen.
I'll be glad when he gets in the Hall of Fame.

Tom Chambers and Bernard King were two of my favorite players growing up in Brooklyn, NY. Everyone from Magic, Jordan, Dominque, Isaiah Thomas and Charles Barkley have all said how great Tom Chambers was in his prime. They all say Larry Bird got some brother in him and Tom Chambers dunks were vicious. Tom Chambers was just as devastated in the open court. He could shoot 3 pointers, great post moves like Bird, dunked like Darryl Dawkins, great passer, very physical defender who didn’t shy away from contact, very unselfish, criminally underrated and ran the floor like a wing. He deserves to be in the NBA Hall of Fame. Tom Chambers style of play today he would easily have 30ppg, and triple double each game.
Legend has it that Tom is still elevating over Mark Jackson in the lane.
He would dominate today's league
Not only was Tom a great player but he is also a great person. My brother and I met Tom while working and now he is a regular and even offers us his court side seats to great suns games.

He was one of my fav players as a kid ..in my top 10..couldnt believe a dude his size was so quick and such a good shooter
What I loved about Chambers’ game was his subtle athletic moves around the rim. For a big guy he could maneuver/contort his body in mid air to get to the rim and finish with authority. Notice how many big men didn’t even want to test him when he went up for a jam. Many cowered away because they didn’t want to end up on the wrong end of a slams poster (looking at you Robert Parrish). He was a very underrated passer too. He is currently only one of two players (Antwan Jamison) with 20k points and not in the hall of fame. He’s also handled this omission with such class too in that; “he’d be honored but he’s not expecting it.” When I was a kid playing on my middle school CYO teams, Tom Chambers was the player my game was most like, I loved watching that guy.
Tom was hell….everybody used to tease me when I talked about him. Tom could really play.
I was in the Madhouse on McDowell for the 60 point game. Tom Chambers was as good as any PF in NBA history.

Love Chambers but Divac is in the Hall of Fame not only because of his NBA but also his international achievements with the Yugoslavian team. And honestly, Divac was a mich more skilled player.
@@aladinalbir9894 go watch Tom Chambers again then go to basketball-reference and compare the two of them. No way Divac was a better player. I lived the era and watched both players play, honestly judging by the fact that Divac is a hall of famer 90% of NBA players should be hall of famers.

I am quite sure Chambers was one of the best choices for rough dunks in NBA 1989, EA game. I got to play it in the mid or end ´90s, after it had arrived in Tartu, Estonia, as an addon to the humanitarian aid EGA 386 computer.
The computer was donated by a Swedish friend, who visited us on a partner school visit. I remember he brought back to Uppsala a punch of ping pong rackets that were dirt cheap for him..) .
We would average 35 and 15 today, no doubt about itd. If Porzingis could drop 30, Tom would have killed it.

Yeah I watched him in real time throughout his career and that somehow got past me.
He is a prototype of a power forward of the future, He and AD had a similar development, both were 6’2 guards that had a large growth spurt to 6’10, keeping their handles and shooting skills
He is deserving of being a Hall of Famer, and how he is overlooked is a head-scratcher. And whenever I hear there hasn't been a 'white superstar' like Larry Bird, I think of this guy. Maybe not legendary like Larry, but he was a great scorer, and his dunk over Mark Jackson is one of the greatest and memorable in-game dunks in the NBA history.

WAYYY ahead of his time. McAdoo was the 1st of the 6'10 and up player who had the athletic ability and scoring skillset of the elite swingmen. BUT McAdoo played the C and PF spots. When Chambers came down the pike, he played the PF and SF spots!! The league NEVER had seen a 6'10 combo forward with that type of scoring skillset and athletic ability AS A PACKAGE! Chambers and Nance get TOTALLY SLEPT on for how they revolutionized what 6'10 and up players were doing in the league. They were PF-SF types. Not PF-C types!

Kudos for always putting out a quality product. Always peppering the videos with a highlight clip we/I haven’t seen before.
Perhaps throw in the buzzer beater Tom crushed the Hawks in The Omni with during the 90-91 season in the next vid. Tom got fined for throwing a punch at Kevin Willis in that game-it’s a good thing he whiffed because that would have done damage to Mr. Willis. You seem to have access to some rare stuff. Hall of Fame, Indeed!

Started watching the Suns when Barkley got traded there. Never knew much about Chambers at the time, but he seemed to be a grizzled old veteran who's best years were clearly behind him. After watching all these videos about him, I have to wonder if Phoenix would've had a better chance of winning a title if Barkley was traded there a year or two earlier while Chambers was still in his prime.

The dunk at 3:56 might be one of my favorites. It's both flashy and a great basketball play: by going for the reverse he actually shields himself from the defender's block attempt. Chambers did that a lot, where he'd push guys out of the way with his backside and then flush down a reverse dunk.
What a skypiercer, even without that "push" he got on that one dunk.

Tom Chambers was an offensive beast, one of the greatest pure scorers of all time. I intend to write the Hall to do my part to help get him there. Really fun player to watch..that whole Phoenix team was really fun to watch..that Western Conference had so many good teams..no great ones that could beat Chicago..but a lot of quality teams so the conference semi-finals/finals every year were bloodbath’s compared to Chicago getting to breeze though the East so I always thought the teams from the West went into the finals too banged up to beat Chicago..and of course having to go up against the best player ever didn’t help either

With honestly a better overall skill set idk how this dude isn’t in the HOF. Dirk is a better shooter than Tom but Tom looks like he has everything else. And Dirk is my literal favorite player, and now it’s Tom Chambers in my top 5 hoopers

Yo bro...Chambers was before his time. He was what the future was to become. A damn near 7 footer, who can play small forward plus above the rim. He could definitely play in today's league and dominate. And he could clearly make an argument, that the white bros can also jump. Just ask Abc's Mark Jackson. "Mama there goes that man", that dunked on my head. 😭😂

Tom Chambers should be in the Hall of Fame based off the fact that he had a signature shot in Lakers vs Celtics video game of the late 80's. Everyone that had a signature move that I know of in that game is in the Hall of Fame. Nuff said!

He was definitely an all-star caliber player, he was one of those players that you know you had to deal with.
I didn't think much about TC for the Hall, but after digging up the numbers, it doesn't make sense that he isn't in. He also had great hair, from the rookie mop to the mullet, to the semi-spiked, great hair.

Dennis Rodman worked his ass off to be in the NBA, was one of the best defenders of all time, and was a starter on one of the top 3 NBA teams of all time. Tom Chambers not being in the Hall of Fame is a travesty, but Dennis Rodman absolutely deserves his spot too.
I thought for a couple of years in Phoenix, he was right behind Jordan and Magic.
Imagine if the 1990 version of Barkley and the 1987 version of Chambers were on that Sun's team? They would have to replace the rims constantly--power dunkers.
