Pride of Boulder Fairview High School. I once lived right near Fairview and visited his trophies. Too bad he never played for the Nuggets.

I grew up in Seattle in the 80s and 90s and was a huge fan of both the Sonics and the Suns. I had a Tom Chambers poster on my bedroom wall, next to Kevin Johnson, Charles Barkley and Dan Majerle. I think he definitely deverves a spot in the Hall of Fame. His biggest detraction, is also his greatest strength. He played in arguably the greatest era of the NBA. He was overshadowed by the Pistons, Celtics, Lakers and the emerging Chicago Bulls, led by a young Michael Jordan. There are tons of guys from that era in the Hall of Fame, who played on those championship teams.... So, a lot of people ask how he measured up against those giants. Well, his numbers were still phenomenal, even in a very tough era of basketball. He just doesn't have the name caché of Thomas and Dumars, Bird, McHale and Parrish, Magic, Kareem and James Worthy, or Barkley, Olajuwon, Drexler, Ewing, Wilkins, Robinson or Pippen... basically the early Dream Team era. That's his only flaw.

    That’s sad
Basketball has one hall of fame is for all levels
    The standards are pretty low
    He should be included.

I was wondering when someone was going to make this video. We need to also make a HOF case Mark Aquire. The first overall pick in the 1981 draft he was another elite scorer who was the man in Dallas but then made sacrifices to come play for Detroit Pistons and put them finally over the hump to win a championship. He averaged over 20 points per game for a career and won 2 championships with Bad Boy Pistons. That's a good enough resume but don't forget the Basketball HOF also includes international and college career(unlike the NFL) where Mark was the AP and also Naismith award winner leading DePaul to the Final Four. He also deserves to be in HOF!!

He was the only 20,000 point scorer, for many years, that wasn't in the Hall. Now there are a few others (Antwan Jamison, Joe Johnson, Lamarcus Aldridge, Vince Carter) that may test the validity of that milestone and give Chambers another look at the Hall.

He was fun to watch. Not an all-round player like Larry Bird or a great defender like Bobby Jones. He wasn't winning titles like LeBron James. He wasn't charismatic like Charles Barkley.
But he could score. From inside and out. He was a ferocious dunker, but could also shoot threes (rare for tall players then). He was real athletic and could run and jump. What hops he had, and he was sensational at his best.
I've long wondered, what if Larry Bird had Chambers' ability in addition to his actual skills, smarts, and competitiveness? He might have become the greatest forward of all time, with absolutely no question. But what we had was two great players.
Yes, Tom Chambers should be in the Hall of Fame.

The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame has a reasonably low bar for who/what gets in and an unfair bias toward offence over defence.
Based on their own examples, Chambers should make it in eventually.
As far as him being one of, if not the best scorers to [currently] not be in the Hall, I think there is a lot more than career points per game to be considered.
