Great video 💯. You guys should do one of these but for Playmaking/Improvisional QBs that can run & throw. Like Mahomes, Rodgers, Wilson, Favre etc. Also Herschel Walker was insane at Georgia + Dallas!
Keep an eye out for Green Bay runningback AJ Dillon. He's gonna be splitting carries with Jones this season. He's built like a brick shit house. I think he's gonna be another great power back.
As a Steelers fan, when TEN & PIT were in the AFC Central, I HATED goin' against George & McNair (R.I.P). What helped Eddie so much, besides skill, was his height. U don't see RB's that big, that fast, but also THAT TALL!! He'd keep his legs movin' no matter how u tried to tackle him.
The ONLY true halfback in terms of size to make the list is the other worldly PAYTON. The greatest total package I ever saw. It was an honor to see his entire career.
My boy Bill Brown was in this video. No idea he would have the recognition. Also didn't realize Adrian Peterson would be in this video but it makes sense.
I grew up near Pittsburgh so I always rooted for the home team, but those Vikings teams back in the late 60s/early 70s were totally tough as nails. Very underrated and a shame they couldn't get a ring or two. I can remember seeing Bill Brown, Joe Kapp, Carl Eller, Page, Paul Krause, Fran the Man....and a lot of those memories were from before the games were played in the domes. The mud and ice/snow games were so common back then. I can remember when except for the local sports news on the 3 or 4 TV stationswe had, the ONLY......I'll repeat that.....the ONLY NFL coverage back then was "This Week in the NFL". One hour a week! That was it! And that show was so different from the zillions of shows on TV and online we have now.....and so much more awesome. Nothing but gritty highlights backed with world class theatrical narration, stirring classical music, slow motion close-ups, and fantastic cinematography. Some great memories...and so much great film on the Vikings back then.
I love seeing the fullbacks on this list. Physically, they built like beast. Yet, when they move with quick feet and speed, it’s a miracle they can move so fast with such large bodies
He was a two sport athlete and football was really rough back then, so I feel like he would have ended up having a somewhat short career regardless. He definitely wouldn't break the rushing record. He was 4 seasons into his career when he got hurt and hadn't had a 1,000 yard season yet. Smith rushed for 1k+ yards in every season but his rookie year and it still took him 13 years to break it. Absolute 0% chance Bo would have broken it.
He literally put auburn on the map as a big time college football program which is why they made 2 national titles in 4 years during the nick Saban reign
Christian Okoye was a absolute beast. Only guy who blasted him was Steve Atwater. Okoye just shook everyone else off like nothing. I think Harvey Williams was the other guy in that Chiefs backfield.
To this day, idk how Walter Peyton played as long as he did. A lot of the great power backs have 3 MAYBE 4 truly great seasons, and then they get too beat up and have shorter careers. Not only did Peyton have a long career, not only a long career with several truly great seasons, but many of those seasons he got 300-350 touches because he WAS the Bears' offense. His longevity defies normal human capability.
Payton said in an interview that (paraphrasing) he would make his workouts during the week so difficult and intense so that game day would seem like a day off.
I remember yelling GIVE IT TO MIKE anytime I watched the bucs back in the day and they were inside the 5. I was so young but I knew, that man cant be stopped in short yardage.
I remember watching Steeler games with my dad in "The Bus" era. If the Steelers had the lead with 6 or 7 minutes left in the game, you could pretty much bank on them grinding it out on the ground and running out the clock. It wasn't flashy, but it was awesome in it's own way.

@@jerrygoldfarb7739 the game was definitely rougher but the players were so much smaller. Not Huff or Butkus of course...but generally speaking even D-linemen were only 250 lbs
Jerome Bettis was a great powerback gave big guys a chance to play a skill position.
If I had to pick an all-time backfield.... that would one of the toughest things to consider. Currently, I think I'd take Jim Brown as my full-back and Barry Sanders as my half-back. But it would be hard to pass up on Bo Jackson and Gayle Sayers. There are just too many great combinations you could have.
4:58 Man the calls back then were amazing I wanna hear a commentator speak like that. 7:36 Another great call "Like a G.I on a 3 day pass" lol
Watching jim brown highlights for the first time Jesus Christ he was a man amongst boys
He will forever be the goat runningback
Some Brandon Jacobs respect you absolutely love to see it😂🔥
as a packers and auburn fan I've seen plenty of Jacob's and much respect lol when he trucked woodson to start 2007 nfc championship it gave the giants huge momentum vs my packers
Riggins is the most underrated running back in the Hall.
Agreed. Imagine if the Skins would have used him like they should have when he first went to Washington.
#HAILYEAH #HTTR
I don’t think you can be underrated in the HOF, ha. The underrated guys don’t make the hall. Everyone knows Riggins was great. If they don’t, they don’t know football.
Great List missing some great runners though, Ricky Williams, Priest Holmes, Shaun Alexander, Deuce McAlister, Edgerrin James, Maurice Jones-Drew. Almost every running back from my era as kid was a powerback highlight machine lol
They missed amad Bradshaw too
Love seeing Brandon Jacobs get some love here
Him and bo Jackson
They forgot to put MVP for Adrian Peterson.
no they didnr
I love the QB running down the field to try to help Marshawn with a block.
Great video 💯. You guys should do one of these but for Playmaking/Improvisional QBs that can run & throw. Like Mahomes, Rodgers, Wilson, Favre etc. Also Herschel Walker was insane at Georgia + Dallas!
My buddy and I talk about how the nfl was simply better back in the day. This video adds credence to what we say.
We need more guys like this in the league
Derrick Henry??
@@EmilioSotomayor69 I know he is a great example of that but we need more running backs like him
Like bam Morris
Keep an eye out for Green Bay runningback AJ Dillon. He's gonna be splitting carries with Jones this season. He's built like a brick shit house. I think he's gonna be another great power back.
Earl Campbell was a stud 🔥!!
The crazy thing about Derrick Henry is that his break away speed plays like his 90+ yard runs are more impressive than his actual power runs
How do you not have more subscribers man seriously
It’s a mystery!
Eddie George Ran over Ray Lewis like 3-5 times....... Thats one player Ray Lewis had to really fight to "Break their will"
Was about to post this until I saw your comment. I don’t remember Lewis getting owned like that
As a Steelers fan, when TEN & PIT were in the AFC Central, I HATED goin' against George & McNair (R.I.P). What helped Eddie so much, besides skill, was his height. U don't see RB's that big, that fast, but also THAT TALL!! He'd keep his legs movin' no matter how u tried to tackle him.
This is how running backs should play.
Love this channel and seeing players I’ve never heard of!
The ONLY true halfback in terms of size to make the list is the other worldly PAYTON. The greatest total package I ever saw. It was an honor to see his entire career.
No matter what u must agree it's Payton,Earl , Riggings, Mike they also some very good ones out there
Yes Jim Brown is among them guys
Peterson was basically all those guys in one player.
Peterson was a mix of everything!!!
I love seeing the fullbacks on this list. Physically, they built like beast. Yet, when they move with quick feet and speed, it’s a miracle they can move so fast with such large bodies
I wish there were more backs like Jerome Bettis. Literally can’t tackle him 🤣
Brandon Jacob's was my favorite player growing up, such an underrated stud
I really think Bo Jackson played today he wouldve recovered from his hip injury and lead in all time rush yards...
Always love "in the NFL history" and find 80% of guys from the last 25 years.
Christian Okoye was a absolute beast. Only guy who blasted him was Steve Atwater. Okoye just shook everyone else off like nothing. I think Harvey Williams was the other guy in that Chiefs backfield.
The beat drop at 6:02 was super cool. In my opinion, everyone was very beast mode when they played, especially Earl Campbell.
This is amazing
surprised no bam Morris but glad to see ironhead Hayward
Csonka, Campbell, Riggins -- it was sooo much fun watchin them
iron head looks like if a coach in high school football subbed in the heaviest D-tackle on the team for RB
I love the commentators back in the daaaaays they had a lot of metaphors 💪🏽
Happy to be a Titans fan!
King Derrick is a beast
Why not call him King Henry? You know, since there actually are King Henries?
@@jacksonconstantine5740 I messed up I know.We do call him King Henry though
Can you do best QB runs? 👀
Earl Campbell the goat of power backs in nfl history in my opinion
People truly forget how dominate some backs were in there prime
Yes...dominant.
I remember watching Steeler games with my dad in "The Bus" era. If the Steelers had the lead with 6 or 7 minutes left in the game, you could pretty much bank on them grinding it out on the ground and running out the clock. It wasn't flashy, but it was awesome in it's own way.
