Just wanted to provide an update on a test i did with the uni controller in the cpu_fan header. The uni controller's pwm cable didn't work for me in the cpu header as my mobo said there was no fan connected (the uni pwm fan cable has only 1 cable coming from it). As such I used a 1 to 2 fan Y-splitter (1 to 2 being 2 fan connections to1 header) where i plugged my sl120 uni fans that are on my radiator into the y-splitters master fan header (the master fan header is 4 pins) and then i plugged the uni fan controllers pwm cable into the slave fan header on the Y-splitter. This means the motherboard detected a cpu fan which instructed the cpu fans to spin up more when it heated up thus allowing it to adjust it's PWMs. What this means is when the master fan adjusts it speed it then tells the uni fan controllers fans (if theyre in pwm) to adjust fan speed based on what the master fan connection is doing.
I've seen a lot of people asking online if the above is possible and after testing i can confirm it is. The only thing i made sure of was that in my bios the cpu-fan was set to pwm and not auto or dc.
Also adding the l-connect program can be set to auto run on windows boot by typing run and when the run program pops up typing shell:startup. Then you copy the lian li programs short cut to the shell:startups location and then windows will automatically boot it every time (again tested it by rebooting numerous times and it started every time without fail).
    Thanks.

Hi Aaron Portillo. Good finding, glad you find a way to resolve your issue. I have never face your issues and yes the cable that comes with the uni fan controller, has only one cable on the fan connector which is to change the rpm speed only. When set to pwm on the L-Connect app without triggering motherboard mode, the motherboard is doing the actual work as in temperature readings, then the unifan controller just pick up the rpm that was determined by the motherboard. This is where the uni fans reacts and changes speed. With this said, thank you for your detail write out. This will be useful to those who are facing a similar situation like yours. I have learn something new from you too. Thank you. Post pined 👍

@@KleoYan No worries. Not so much of an issue for me but more of a way that incorperates all the fans into one header. A lot of people seem to want the radiator fans and case fans (all uni fans) to adjust its speed based on what the cpu's temperature is doing (which is fair and its something that i wanted as well). By having the radiator fans as the pwm controller it fixed everything. I've also noted on the lian li 011 dynamic (thats the case ive now got) people report high temperatures - the temperatures go to about 60c for cpu and 68 for gpu but for me that is perfectly fine and acceptable.. theyre the same temperatures my massive pc case (corsair 780T) was doing so i consider it a win to half the size and keep the same temps or a bit better at times.
The scary part is testing things but hopefully people wont have to now with the above answers. Thanks for your vote of confidence and kind words i appreciate it dude. Will watch more of your videos in the future. :)

Hi Nikola Mladenoff, welcome to my channel and thank you for the compliment. it actually depends on which motherboard you are using, sometimes it's the motherboard utility app that tooks over control over L-Connect app. in that case if you have updated the chipset and it does not work, I would advise you to remove your motherboard utility app and the L-Connect app using Revo uninstaller www.revouninstaller.com/ . once done, reboot your PC, install L-Connect as administrator mode. test out your fans. if it works then install your motherboard utility app.

I updated the bios and the chipset and then removed the mb utility app and l-connect with Revo, however L-Connect still cannot recognise group 1 of my fans. I set the fan header on the MB to PWM, but neither the MB nor the app receive rpm information about group 1. I thought about replacing the cable with one of the leftover ones, but since the RGB works and the fan is spinning, I rule out having a faulty or badly connected cable to the fans. SL or AL and which L-Connect application you have installed? will need to know more info on what you are using before I can try to aid you out. also which Asus motherboard are you using? In generall these are some troubleshooting steps you might want to look into.
      1) If you do have the Asus Armoury Crate installed before the L-Connect app, kindly uninstall both apps. for Asus Armoury Crate, kindly make use of their uninstaller, check your motherboard utlity page. As for L-Connect, uninstall it using revo uninstaller. This will remove all leftover files and registry in your system
      2) Turn off your system, unplug the USB cable between then uni controller to your motherboard USB header. leave it for 30 to 45 seconds. replug the USB cable again, turn on your machine. once loaded into windows, go to device manager, look under Universal Serial Bus Devices. Do you see your uni controller in it?
      3) Next if you are using SL fans and the controller does not have the SL marking on it. download L-Connect and install it. test it.
      4) If you are using SL Fans and the controller that does have the SL Marking, download L-Connect 2 and install it, test again. This apply to AL fans too.
      5) If you intend to use the L-Connect 2 but your SL Fans and the controller does not have the SL Marking, you will need to do a firmware. ruclips.net/video/hZpzR_4917c/видео.html

@Kleo Yan Hi there. I've had these installed for 7 or 8 months, I've 3 uni fans on one 360 radiatior and grouped into group 1. Also another 3 fans connected as a group on another 360 radiator as group 2. But in all this time I've had a problem that I've never been able to fix. So when running the Lian LI app, it reports the speed only on group 1 fans and I can control the speed of this group fine. But the other group continually spins at maximum RPM all the time. Now, I can change the colours on both groups of fans, but the speed control only works on the first group. I'm not using motherboard software to deal with the PWN or RGB, using the Lian Li controller box. All I have connected is the 4 cables from the 2 groups of fans (2 each the 3 pin and the 4 pin to the controller) then the power SATA to PSU and the USB to the motherboard. Can you please tell me no matter what I do, the 2nd group of fans continually spin at max RPM and the app shows "0 RPM".

Hi TonyTurbo, welcome to my channel. to narrow down your issue. it will be best to test the group 2 fans individually on another output of the uni controller, lets say use on group 3. this is to ensure that it's not a fan issue. if all works. then test one whole set to group 3 or 4. if that works. it could be group 2 output is not working properly.

I've tried the L-connect software, in which it doesn't seem to recognize the fan (0 RPMS). When I bring up BIOS, it also does not recognize any system fans as well.
At first I thought this was just an RGB issue with the MSI Dragon Center, but seems that it may be that the fans arent being recognized. I have tried reinstalling and downloading the fixes to no avail as well.

Check your device manager see if the uni fan controller is detected. once detected, plug in the sata to the uni controller. observe your fans, they should be default rpm and argb on rainbow, launch your L-Connect app. first thing to do is to select your fan settings to quiet or fast and click on apply all. see if the fans react and see if the RPM changes. next test your argb. if this does not work, it might just be the MSI board, I would suggest you to see help with lian li support team. lian-li.com/contact-us/ , once again thank you for your question and to have visit my channel.

I'm about to do a build with 9 uni fans and a galahad AIO 360. Is it better to have all 9 fans go to one uni contoller for RPM or does it make more sense to plug the 3 fans on the radiator directly to the motherboard for RPM? Which way works best to allow the PC to adjust temps automatically when the CPU runs hot?

Hi Jimmy, thank you for your question, Just my opinion. Connect all 9 fans to the uni controller. Both argb and fan connector. Configuration as follow
3 x fans to output 1 let L-connect to control the fan rpm consistently
3 x fans to output 2 again let L-connect to control the fan rpm consistently
As for the 3 x fans on radiator, same as the above but on L-connect, set to rpm to follow your motherboard pwm curve.
This way you can manage your cable nicely.
You can also choose to connect the 3 radiator fans directly to the motherboard fan header and leave the argb connector on your uni controller.

Hello Lanzealot, welcome to my channel, just like to check, I assume you are using the SL uni fans, which L-Connect version are you using? kindly note that if your Uni fan controller does not have a SL Marking, you will need to use the L-Connect original version. If your controller have the SL marking, then you can use the L-Connect 2. assuming you are using the correct L-Connect. Are you using the armoury crate before you install the L-Connect app? If you are, i would advise you to remove both Armoury crate and L-Connect using revo uninstaller www.revouninstaller.com/ . This uninstaller is to remove all leftover files and registery. once you have done that, reboot your system, check on device manager, make sure you are able to see your uni fan controller under Universal Serial Bus Devices. if it's listed, install the L-Connect application and try testing your fans PWM and ARGB. once ok, then install your armoury crate program.

hello Philo Bolok, welcome to my channel. A few things you might need to check.
      1) Does your SL Uni controller has an SL marking on it. if it has, make use of L-Connect 2, if there are no SL Marking, then use L-Connect

If it appears, install L-Connect only and try again

Hi Nucl3ar, welcome back to my channel. Yes I do have friends who have these issues, ended up redo a fresh copy of windows 10 or 11. you see when you trigger motherboard mode on L-Connect. It triggers the IRQ address to switch. so if it happens that the IRQ is of the same as your amour crate. that will conflict and causes problem. For your info, the IRQ that is occupied by either app (L-connect and Motherboard utility like Asus Armoury Crate or MSI Dragon Center or even the Gigabyte fusion) is conflicting. so ended up they choose to use Uni fans argb via L-Connect and the fan rpm directly plug to the motherboard header. that will resolve the issue.

Hi Rafael Almeida, welcome to my channel. I have not encounter your issue but you might want to try swap the fan connectors from source 2 to source 1. To check if the original source 2 fans able to go full speed at source 1 output. If able to, the fans are not faulty and next is to check if original source 1 fans able to go full speed at source 2 output. If able to, means there might be connection issue. If not able to, this might be a controller issue, try reseat the usb cable between the uni controller to your motherboard usb fan header. See if it helps.

HI alaster, welcome to my channel. just call me Kleo will do, as for your case. I think you need to know which controller to use. You can only use SL fans to a SL Controller, for AL fans to a AL controller. To have both SL and AL Controller to work, use L-Connect 2 application as it allows to control both SL and AL controller. I would advise you to take baby steps. remove all controllers to your USB header on your motherboard. Start with removing all L-Connect application, install only the L-Connect 2 application. then having lets say your AL Fans conntected to it's controller, test things out. if that works, off your PC, connect the SL Controller to another USB port of your motherboard, then plug the SL Fans to this controller. now when you power up your PC, you should be seeing two taps on the L-Connect application. As for safety meaures, just make sure that for each controller port (1 , 2 , 3 and 4), do not plug more than 4 fans to one port. your galahad argb connector can be plug to either of the controllers, not an issue. give it a try.

I appreciate your video and helping with these issues. however, I have a different issue with these Lian-li SL-uni-infinity fans with the controller. I have got the software up to date and got everything connected as supposed to as well as software working, and fans however reacts accordingly. my Issue comes as soon as I Launch a game. the game would launch and just when you want to start playing my PC reboots. Now I am not sure why, but I've looked at so may scenarios, but nothing really helps me understand my situation. also, I can clearly say it is from the fans/controller, due to if I have my original Cooler master fans connected this doesn't happen and I can play for as long as possible. also running a bench test with the lain-li fans connected then the pc runs smooth with no issues. I can stress the graphics card and everything no issues. but as soon as I want to play a game, the pc reboots. can you think of something, or have you had an issue similar to this yet?

      2) Fan Load 0.18a for each fan. If you plug 3 x uni fan to ch fan which is 1A, it's ok as 3 x 0.18a = 054a , your ch fan is 1a.

Hello THRAXX, this video is in the past which is the original L-Connect, you might want to view this ruclips.net/video/CgvuUFeff8U/видео.html which might aid you. or to try the troubleshooting steps below
Disclaimer : Though the chances are very low to brick firmware updates on motherboard and to any controllers. I will not be responsible if you have brick your motherboard or controller.
      1) Make sure your motherboard bios is up to date, please check on your motherboard manufacture website, under support > bios and drivers. See if there are issues with USB and do they have a fix. If there are, kindly update those bios firmware version.
      2) Make sure your chipset driver for your motherboard is up to date! For AMD will be at www.amd.com/en/support for Intel will be Intel Driver & Support Assistant Intel DSA www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html
      3) Remove all argb apps (Asus Armory Crate / MSI Dragon Center / Giga Fusion / Asrock Polychrome). If the brands which I have mentioned, do have a uninstall tool like the Asus Armory Crate, use that, else use Revo uninstaller ( www.revouninstaller.com/ ). Revo uninstaller will remove all unwanted files / folder / registry in your system. Illustration to use revo uninstaller ruclips.net/video/uMgUYiakpxM/видео.html
      4) Shutdown your PC, unplug the PSU cable from your AC outlet. Press the power switch twice to discharge all current that your motherboard is holding. Leave it for 45 second
      5) While waiting, please do not use KVM switches. Disconnect all devices that are connected to your motherboard (front / back IO). Leave only your Keyboard, Mouse , Monitor and Ethernet (If you have) connected directly to your motherboard.
If your monitor has a KVM build-in, remove the USB cable from your monitor to your motherboard USB socket. If your mouse and keyboard are connected to your monitor, please remove them and plug them directly to your motherboard instead.
      6) Plug only one Uni controller or Strimer Plus V2 controller. If its for Uni Fan (SL/AL) use only 3 fans to an output of the uni controller.
      7) Plug the power cable and turn on your PC
      8) Go to your Device Manager, look under Universal Serial Bus Devices, make sure you see the Lian Li uni / strimer plus V2 controller.
      9) Install the L-Connect 3 app only lian-li.com/l-connect3/ (current version 1.3.16)
      10) After installation, run L-Connect 3, check under Setting > General > make sure Auto-Run on Boot and Minimized L-Connect 3 to system tray at close are ON.
      11) Reboot your system.
      12) First thing you need, go to device manager and see if the Lian Li controller is listed, next open up the L-Connect 3 app. Check if there is a need to update firmware to your controller. Go to Settings > Update, under Device F/W version, click on Update Check, download and install the firmware. Make sure the firmware is completed. Do a check on device manager and make sure the Lian Li controller is listed.
      13) On L-Connect 3 dashboard, check if the CPU and GPU readings are reacting, you might want to test it using some benchmark programs. If there are reaction, play with the PWM and argb functions. If it does not work, skip step 14) and proceed step 16)
      14) If Single controller works, shutdown your pc, connect uni fan set of 3 to your output of your uni controller. Do it small steps at a time to hook up your sets of fans. do not do all in one go. If successful and you have a second controller, proceed small step at a time again.
      15) Slowly plug back your USB devices (Headset, Microphone, Printer, USB Capture Card and etc). At any point of time as you add those devices one at a time, if L-Connect 3 become unresponsive. This tells you that there power is insufficient to power up more USB Devices. Whatever USB port on your motherboard, there is a limitation as the current are shared across the board, be it front or back I/O and the internal USB Header. You might need to get a Internal USB Hub that comes with a Sata Power source to the Internal USB Hub. (Disclaimer, buying a internal usb hub might or might not resolve this issue, purchase at your own expenses)
      16) If it does not work, report your issues to Lian li Tech Support. There is a in build log ticketing system in L-Connect 3 app. this is what you need to do. Go to Settings > Support > Click on “Download log” place a filename and choose a destination drive to save the log file. Next click on “Report” it will take you to Lian Li Tech Support FAQ. Fill up the form and upload the log which is a zip file.

It then suddenly disappeared and no longer appear in Device Manager. I have another USB device connected to another header which coincidentally stopped working 3 days before the strimer disappeared. The strimer is now stuck at rainbow simply because it has been receiving power from the sata connection. Updated the chipset drivers and it did not help. I did the unprecedented thing by switching from the usb header to the usb port at the back and it worked. I've connected everything correctly and tried unplugging and plugging it. Bios is already updated. It can't be both usb headers and usb cables been faulty at the same time isn't it? The source of the problem is the usb connection, not the hub itself. Worst case scenario, I'll cut a hole in my case and let the L Connect hub run through the usb port but I still hope to resolve this situation.

Hi Eric Nguyen, welcome to my channel. I would advise you to remove all your fans from the controller. first thing you need to check is, are your SL fans still in working condition. plug the fan load to the motherboard, this you can leave it daisy chained (max 4 fans) as each fan load is 0.18a. if they work, next is to check to see the argb are working, if you have the argb cable kit for lian li, you should be able to test it but please test one fan at a time as the load is 0.65a, again you can plug to your motherboard to test. if all fans work on both fan load and argb. then you can narrow down that your controller is not working.

      2) In Windows 10/11, in device manager, do you see the uni control under Universal Serial Bus Devices?
if you do not see that under device manager, shut down your PC and remove the PSU power cable from your outlet, let is sit for 45 seconds (this is to clear the cache memory on your motherboard) while waiting for the 45 seconds, double check your USB cable that is connected between your motherboard and to the uni controller. once done, plug back your PSU, power up your PC, now see and to make sure you do see the uni controller in device manager under Universal Serial Bus Devices.
If it does, launch L-Connect 3. you will first need to ensure that there are reading on the CPU and GPU in the dashboard, run some benchmark test and make sure the temperature reacts. If it does but you still can't control your fans, be it argb or fan rpms. do this
      1) Remove all argb apps (Asus Armory Crate / MSI Dragon Center / Giga Fusion / Asrock Polychrome).
      2) Do a manual firmware and follow this guide lian-li.com/l-connect3/L3_update_manually/
      3) once firmare is done, reinstall L-Connect 3 lian-li.com/L3-changelog/ and try it again.
I would also advise you to view this video for in-depth understanding of how L-Connect 3 works. ruclips.net/video/CgvuUFeff8U/видео.html

Hi Skylar, welcome to my channel, I think you are using the L-connect 3, if that's the case, you might need to do a firmware update. kindly check with version of L-Connect application you are using. if it's L-Connect 3. kinldy refer to this video. ruclips.net/video/CgvuUFeff8U/видео.html

@@Realrayt I see, ok, this is going to be painful, do you mind to try uninstall all argb applications in your system. which are the icue and l-connect 3. try these steps to see if your L-Connect 3 is able to run. I have a feeling that the IRQ is lock by your Icue which is preventing the L-Connect 3 app to work. please do this if you feel is comfortable as I am just trying to help you out. no guarantee that it will work. if you do get your L-Connect 3 to work. then install your iCue.

@@GamboTheGent yup disconnect it to see if you can take control over the argb effects. If it does. I have another suggestion, leave the argb controll by your uni controller. And plug ur daisy chain SL fans to the motherboard header to controll the fans RPM. Do not worry 4 x fans. The fan load is 0.72a which most motherboard fan header support up to 1A. The only worry is about argb load. Cos 4 x SL fans, the argb load is at 2.6a which some old mobo support up to 2a. So just remember. Unplug that argb and pwm cable from your uni fan to the motherboard. Leave argb of your SL fans on uni fan controller. Plug only the SL daisy chained fan connector to the motherboard fan header directly. Hope am not confusing you.
