Thanks so much for this video buddy, just like Player de la ligue I've been wanting to know the answer to this question for a while. I couldn't believe Lian-Li would release a product where you have to either have the side of your case off to access the controller or find a way to mount it externally which isn't going to look good but this gets round the problem perfectly.
I recently built myself a new system using the Corsair QL range with the H150i Elite Capellix, Corsair Vengance Pro Ram and a coupe of strips, the whole set-up was just over 2k and I expected this build to last me the next 10 years like my last i7 build however these new Lian-Li Uni fan range along with the strimer plus cable have really got my appetite going to build another, the design and delivery of the argb on the fans I think are so innovative, and when you consider the ease of connection along with the abily to run up to 12 fans safely then I think it's got to be done, and done within the next 6-12 months just so I can sit, stare, and smile, this time though I'm definitely going for the Lian-Li system along with the Kraken Z73, this system will be White so it should look quite nice when it's done.
Thanks again buddy, I have really enjoyed working my way through your videos, new subscriber too..

great video, most thorough explanation of how these work that I've seen so far!
Hi Miguel Silvestri, welcome to my channel and thank you for the compliment :)
Best video on these cables. A few downsides to this setup though is the effects are very limited compared to what you get by using the strimer hub itself. Also, the lighting seems to flicker intermittently despite using the official argb cable kit and trying all ports on the unifan hub.. maybe it's just mine though
HI Stillward, welcome to my channel, if you have both the 24pin and dual 8pin, try only the 24pin, see if it still flicker. then swap using only dual 8pin. if either one does not flicker, there are two posibility,
1) you might have use alot of peripheral in your computer which uses sata power source. try reduce the number of peripheral connecting to the sata source.
2) Your hub either 24 or 8 pin socket might be faulty. contact lian li for a replacement hub.
so far I have encounter 1), where by multiple pheripheral are connected to one Sata power source. Thing like Sata HHD, other Argb controller and the strimer plus contoller, that caused the flicker.
Thank you so much for your compliment and to have visit my channel.
@@KleoYan mine, just pure died after some minute alive. Ill try using the empty sata cable.
@@love_dva hi, welcome to my channel, hopefully is just a sata connection, if not you might want to contact lian li directly if your strimers are still under warrantly, they will replace it for you. All the best in your build.
@@KleoYan yeah thx, im gona return it since its just came yesterday.
My first impresion is 'woow, theres should be nothing wrong in this 50$ cable'
First i found error patern, then the controler sometimes do nothing, last its dead. I think its bcoz the controler, like its not even worth 4$. argb header cant even take control of this thing.
@@KleoYan that 3 pin argb should be able to control the led right? Even if im not using lianli uni hub?
Lian Li should include that conversion cable in either the strimmer or uni fan kits (preferably both). Since both products are compatible, they should come ready to connect imo.
Hello ByngerX, welcome to my channel. The way I see it, the strimer plus was out before the uni controller. I believe they do see what you have mentioned that why they came out with the argb cable kit. Nevertheless you can try to write in to Lian Li. I doubt they will provide that in any of their future manufacturing of these products. Is all about making profit. Anyway thank you for your feedback.
@@KleoYan I just watched your video today, then i realized the conversion cable is key to connecting two controllers. I believe lian li did this on purpose just for pushing you to buy their cable kit.😂
@@calmdownbigbrother6405 welcome to my channel. thanks for your feedback, to have two controller, you need to have additional usb Hub. the conversion cables are only meant to protect you from daisy chaining so many fans and to plug into your motherboard argb header, which will cause melt downs or even header to blow. you might not believe it.. throughout my aid to those who seek help from me. they have their mishaps. I dont think lian li is forcing you to buy their cable kit. they have thought about safety operations. you can view the dos and donts in this playlist and you will know how much these fans uses as in argb current. ruclips.net/p/PLEW-b-2vYDdPo0NzHyeksx012c-nkDapm
anyway am not defending lian li. besides them requesting us to get their argb cable kit. It's also for safety operation purposes. If you know what you are doing like I do. It does not stop me from doing my own conversion cables. ruclips.net/video/Lz90i5ym4Dw/видео.html once again thank you for visiting my channel and to provide your valuable feedback. thank you!
@@KleoYanHi, I would like to get some feedback from you. I m building a new pc. the motherboard is z690a. I got 3of 3pin argb on my motherboard.
I am trying to use 1 lian li argb controller to connect 6 lian li fans, then this first controller I connected it to 1 of argb 3pin on motherboard, name it #1.The second controller is for rest 3 argb lian li fans, I use it for liquid cooler, use a new controller name it #2, and plug it to another 3pin argb on the motherboard. The last controller is about lian li argb 8pin and 24pin controller, I'm going to plug it on the third argb 3pin on the motherboard name it #3.
I use 1 sata power supply to connect #2 and #3 controller. and another sata power supply for #1 controller. is it going to work? any tips or notifications? Thank you.
@@calmdownbigbrother6405 what you have planned out works well. as all your controller are drawing power directly from PSU and to supply the uni controller. so it does work. but on the safe side, check the 12v reel on your PSU. they should have a data sheet to check what kind of ampere it is capable of. A uni controller is about 12.4a (fan and argb load limit) so 3 x uni controller is at 37.2a if your data sheet on PSU of the 12v reel provides above 37.2a (example of a Seasonic GX650) its rated at 54A.. it's more than enough to cater. if it's lesser, then you got to worry about.
Great review!

Hey, I love your videos man. Great way of explaining everything. I got the Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL case, Lian Li Glahad 360, Strimmer Plus 24 Pin and then I have 7 x Lian Li SL120 Uni Fans (They came with 2 x Fan Controllers). My motherboard only has 2 aRGB headers and I cannot get all RGB's working since I never got the Lian Li Cable Kit you recommend. Is there any other options for me, I want to use my motherboard to control RGB's. In one of your videos, you mentioned connecting the Strimmer Plus directly to a Lian Li case? Is there a work around at all here?
Hi Zursen, welcome to my channel. Just for your info, you can currently use one uni controller till lian li will announce at their website, as when they going to release an update version of L-Connect, so that you can use two. now I do have another video which might aid you on the connection. ruclips.net/video/njlkdM9lYbI/видео.html but do note that I am only using the uni controller. if you want to use your motherboard to control, all you need is just to connect the argb cable from the uni controller to the motherboard argb header. Just make sure you L-Connect is set to motherboard mode. Same applies to the fan rpm.
now for the lian li argb kit, me too not able to get it in my country and ordering from overseas is expensive. therefore I choose to crimp my own and here is how ruclips.net/video/Lz90i5ym4Dw/видео.html

I did notice the new 3x8 in purple, which is my build colour is not as vibrant as the old 24 pin..
Thanks for making this.
Hi Darren Davies, welcome to my channel and thank you for the compliment. Yup I did notice that too, the problem is, the longer your argb strips are. The color will dim down as not enough ampere to provide the 3rd 8 pin strip. That’s why it draws and share with 3 8pin strips. Hopefully Lian li will come out with a rev 2 of the controller to supply more ampere or current.

Just curious, given the way Strimer Plus's RGB header can be connected to the Unifan controller as demonstrated, can other RGB devices with 5v rgb header be connected to the controller, and controlled by L-connect, too?
If this can be done then it'll be awesome. Right now I have some RGB devices connected to my MSI motherboard's RGB header but MSI's software is a disaster in terms of lighting effects.
Hi w00tilicious, welcome to my channel. You can but take note on the ampere load which plugs to each output of the uni controller and converters are needed. For each output the ampere limit is around 2.6a load. So any argb which u plug in to any of the output below 2.6a load will be fine.

Hello mr_narto, welcome to my channel, if you are talking about the 3pin argb connector from your uni controller to the motherboard, yes, connect that to your motherboard 3pin 5v argb connector.. make sure is 3pin and not 4pin..

I have the SL Inf UNI Hub with i think 2 of the Y Splitter thingies and one is used for my AIO Pump Fans.
Hi Alexandar16, welcome to my channel. if you are asking can you use a splitter at 10:00 to connect your old strimer plus to the SL Inf uni hub. yes you can.. by use the converter, you can plus to either sync 2 or sync 4 port on the SL Inif uni hub.
Simple and clear. Thank you! but if we want to connect the 3 pin argb to motherboard directly how le? Any suggestions?
Hello The Blank, welcome to my channel, the controller of these strimer plus has a cable which allows you to plug it from the controller to your motherboard. then trigger the controller button M (hold it 3 seconds) and you will be able to use your motherboard argb software to control it. If you are asking, can the strimer plus directly connected to the argb header of your mottherboard without the controller. My advise to you is don't do it.. you might overload the motherboard argb header and it might melt.
great video, im subscribed !! question for you: what else could i use the strimer cable for in my new build chassis instead of putting it on the GPU cable. i have the lian li strimer 24 and would like to find a good place in the chassis (Lian Li EVO) to put it. i think it would be cool to put it somewhere but where I don't know, my current white ANTECH cables look so good (16 AWG) that I don't want to ruin the effect of those cables. hello dabney offermein, welcome to my channel, it greatly depends on your creativity and you might just wait for the strimer plus V2 which will be out or should I say release in one day's time. the L-connect 3 is pretty awesome .. lian-li.com/l-connect-3-beta-program/
Hey man thanks for the info on the commander pro - just another quick one; on the “unifan” how many RGB connectors are there?
I want to power the 8+24 pin as well as 3 other lian Li RGB fans (AL120)
Do I need to buy a “daisy chain” for my fans to connect into the one port or are there enough on the unifan ??
hi dbwarzone, I hope I understand your question correctly. The fans itself interconnect and they do come with 3 connectors as there are three fans in a set unit. AL or SL, both the same, no diff. and the uni controller do have a argb connector to the motherboard, so instead of plugging in to the motherboard, you can plug to your NZXT kraken controller.
Awesome video man. I just want to ask how to config the strimer plus controller and uni fan controler in order to use 10 SL120 fans + 24-pin Strimer Plus + 8-pin Strimer?

Great video. Question, do you think it’s preferable to have them controlled by motherboard or by the switch? I haven’t played with it too much yet but figured I didn’t want to keep opening my case to change effects so maybe motherboard is easier. Controller effects seem really cool though. I don’t know what type of effects my pc offers yet though as I just finished the build and haven’t hooked it to a monitor yet.
Hi DrGameStar, welcome to my channel. I would prefer to use the strimers controller to do that as it has some patterns which the motherboard argb utility does not have, unless you make use of 3rd party application like the SignalRGB www.signalrgb.com/ (I believe you need to pay)

Great video! Question for you though if you can please help me out. I already have the 24pin and triple 8pin Strimer Plus's, and have 10 sl120 fans on the way. Would it help me out rgb power wise if I use 1 hub for all the 10 fans, and then another hub to run to just the Strimmer Plus's. I've seen a few posts around the web about rgb flicker due to power so my thought is using one of the extra hubs would fix.
Hi Nucl3ar, welcome to my channel. Flickering can be the cause of either unclean power going to your system. I would narrow down equipment separately. First is to test out your 10 x SL120 fans with the uni controller, next will be test only the strimmer plus controller itself without the fans on. if both works then this tells you that that your lian li equipment is not at fault. Next connect both to see if it flickers. if it does, reduce some fan set from the uni controller. If the flicker stops. it means that your PSU unable to provide sufficient power to carter the lian li controllers you are using. Just a question, your uni controller and the strimer plus controller, are the using the same sata reel from your PSU? if they are, try separate reel. you see even if you have an additional hub, if your PSU is not able to cater the load. it's pointless. so hope you will do some basic troubleshooting first before hooking up another uni controller.
Nice!👍
Hi ya Onlyy. Thank you and it’s nice to see you again.
so i bought a 3 pack of 120s SL-infinity fans, 2x 140 sl-infinity fans, one 24 pin strimer and one 12vhpwr strimer. I saw the multiple controllers and freaked out lol. so i need to get the converter, from 3pin argb to 3 pin "fan header" to plug the strimer control box into the fan hub? does that sound right?
Hello lycanwarlord, welcome to my channel, I like to check, is your 24pin strimer plus v1 or v2? if it's v2, you should not be following this content, kindly watch this video ruclips.net/video/CgvuUFeff8U/видео.html
So If I watch to controller it with the software I just need to conect it to the 5v ARB on the motherborad. Soni don't need any other other 3 way to conect it meaning psu or sata, micron b usb way?

Hello Dead Angel, welcome to my channel, if you do have a uni fan controller. Yes you can do that by using L-Connect 3 app. If you do not have that, then your only option is to connect the strimer plus argb cable directly to your motherboard argb header and to use your motherboard utility to control the argb effects. Make sure you press and hold the M button for 3seconds to bypass and to use motherboard mode.
Thank you for this very informative video. For the 8+8 pin strimer plus, will it still work on a gpu with only a 6 pin connector? My gpu has a space where I can just tuck in the extra plugs but I don't know if the lighting will work

Hi Alyssa Wright, welcome to my channel, if you want to use the L-Connect app, you will need to have the uni controller, next connect your Corsair fans (argb connector only) to the uni controller, then you will be able to use L-Connect app to control the argb effects on your corsair fans. maybe this video will explain to you clearly how it's done, which I am using EK Vadar argb fans. ruclips.net/video/bMRz2KVqbjA/видео.html

This is such a good video. I only have 1 rgb header on my MOBO so it’s important that I use the provided controller. Just wanted me question, how do you turn on the cables once connected?
Good day Rashed Zaman and welcome to my channel. when you use the provided controller. your controller is connected via the PSU Sata cable which provides the power. once you power on, your strimer plus will light up automatically. one thing though, since your controller is inside you case. you will need to preset what pattern or color you want then everytime you turn your pc on, it will be that pattern and color.

Hey kleo
Is it possible to use only 1x 8pin cable since my gpu has only 1x 8 pin connector or is the strimer plus gpu cable only for 2x 8pin ?
Hi J J, pardon me, I have returned the strimer plus to the owner of KritcalGaming93, not able to answer you that, but, you don't really have to plug all 2 x 8pin. just plug one 8pin and leave the other at the side. the whole dual 8pin strip will look nicer, I mean this is my opinion cos 8pin is abit too thin. Anyway the choice is yours.
I’ve been wondering about this!!! Thank you so much. My only issue is that I’m already using all 4 ports of the uni controller. I wonder if the strimer controller output can connect to the unifan argb (instead of to mobo) and the strimer box would output its 18 effects to the fans...
Hi Dhyan Suresh, thank you for your question. On the strimer controller itself. It does have another connector which go to your argb strip on your case. In practise yes it can be done. Plug that cable to the unifan argb connector that has a pwm connector. Set your L-connect software to full on motherboard mode. Then your Fans will follow the effect from your strimer controller. But do not once you do this, you will lose control of your fans rpm that is connected to the uni controller and they will run in full speed. Hope I did answer your question. One thing to take note. when you are doing this. make sure your L-Connect is set to motherboard mode first before you connect the argb connector to your Strimer controller... just for safety purposes.

Hi, great video for references. Btw, im trying to sync strimer plus 24pin and unifans like you just show in the video. However ive tried by using the unifan given splitter (2 male, 1 female), connecting it between both of the controller argb input and plugging on the female into mobo. However, it seems that my method is not work as it is only change the colour of the unifans only..Is my method is unapplicable??
Hi Ahmad Raidi, welcome to my channel, the splitter you are referring I believe is the standard argb connector. That will not work, you need to plug the strimer plus standard argb connector to the Uni controller. maybe this will aid you ruclips.net/video/njlkdM9lYbI/видео.html
@@KleoYan thanks for the clarification!
@@ahmadraidi7448 you are most welcome, all the best in your build too :)
I notice you mentioned you have to purchase the argb cable kit to get that cable in order to connect. It's about 20 USD where I am, was wondering if you think it would be a cheaper option (7 USD) to buy a ARGB 1 to 5 splitter cable and plugging the fan controller into 1 and the strimer controller into the other? Would that still allow to sync since they are both connected to the MOBO through the ARGB header
Hi Tim Chan. Welcome to my channel. It will be good if you can list down what device are you connecting to. Example fans to the uni controller or motherboard argb header? In general there is argb load limit on hub/controller.
@@KleoYan ASUS TUF B460M Plus. I'm just trying to think if there's any other way to sync the cables with the fans apart from buying the cable kit? I guess there is a argb load but the reviews on those Cooler Master 1 to 5 ARGB splitters seem ok
@@TimTakeAway Hi ya, is not able the cable is about the headers you going to plug to. based on your Asus Tuf B460 Plus dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1200/TUF_GAMING_B460-PLUS/E16866_TUF_GAMING_B460-PLUS_UM_V2_WEB.pdf there is only one RGB 12volts header on the motherboard, it's not compatible with any aRGB 5volts fan or strips if you want to connect it directly to the motherboard header. If you are only connecting to your Lian Li Strimers, you got no choice but to use it's own controller. and if you are trying to plug any argb Fans, you will need a contoller. I assume you are using the SL120 Uni fans.
overall your board does not support aRGB functions. therefore you need a aRGB controller, as I have mentioned to you, kindly list down all your aRGB components that you will be using, if not I am not able to explain fully to you. Example what fans and model are you using besides this Strimer Plus?
@@KleoYan I believe you linked a different motherboard, mine is www.asus.com/Motherboards-Components/Motherboards/All-series/TUF-GAMING-B460M-PLUS/
which has one argb header on it. my question was whether i can connect the unifan controller and the strimer to shopee.com.my/Cooler-Master-Universal-ADDRESSABLE-RGB-1-to-5-Splitter-Cable-1-TO-5-ARGB-Fan-Cable-i.27709151.4868367303 and be able to have mobo control with this method
I intend to connect x9 unifans to that controller and the strimers to that splitter cable, instead of buying the cable kit mentioned in the video
Can you do this with the Strimmer controller V2 and the Infinity uni Fans Controller?
Hello Harold Molina, welcome to my channel. Yes you can plug the strimer plus v1 to the strimer plus v2 controller ruclips.net/p/PLEW-b-2vYDdPo0NzHyeksx012c-nkDapm in the playlist click on L-connect 3 (strimer plus) or another which is the strimer plus v2. As for the SL infinity controller, you can plug but have to use the strimer plus v1 controller and to purchase the argb kit, but you can’t set the effects listed in L-Connect 3. I would advise you to get the strimer plus v2 set or if you have the strimer plus v1. Just get the v2 controller.
