    My question is, will L-Connect be able to sync my Motherboard's RGB (the Z390 has RGB lights on it) as well, through only the Lian Li's USB connection?
    Hope the question makes sense.
    I bought the Deepcool RGB converter, but since I'll be using L-Connect, I'm not sure if I need it to convert the 3pin ARGB to the Z390's 4pin RGB.

      Hi Ace, thank you for your compliment. Is this your case --> www.phanteks.com/assets/manuals/PH-EC500ATG.pdf ?
      If it is, I would not advise you to do so, the case itself has a controller which either to be controlled by the case controller or to controlled by your motherboard.
      Below I will hold no responsibility. The only way if you want your phanteks argb fans to work with the uni fan.
      If you are familiar with argb control units, first you will need to unplug the argb cable from your case controller, then you will need to figure a way to daisy chained your argb fans and strips. using a converter which I have shown here ruclips.net/video/TIO8JxVZTi8/видео.html , plug to to the uni fan. it should work if you know how, also please take note of the led load from the fans. if unsure, do not perform this as a silly mistake might not only damage the argb control unit but might even short and damage the rest of your PC component. I have ever experience that before as I was unsure and without knowledge. I damage my whole PC just because of that.

    • @KleoYan
      @KleoYan  3 года назад

      Hi kevinwakoko, welcome to my channel. This really depends how you wanted to control your fans. below are the 3 options.
      Option 1 - Case fan controller.
      ========================
      All the fans are connected to the fan hub, you will only be able to control all fans running at a fix rate, be it low, mid or high.
      Option 2 - Uni Controller
      ===================
      You can choose to make use of the L-Connect app to set individual sets of fan with various RPM, example below.
      Output 1 - 3 x fan (top) to run at 1000 rpm (set on L-Connect software)
      Output 2 - 3 x fan (bottom) to run at 800 rpm (set on L-Connect software)
      Output 3 - 2 x fan (side AIO liquid cooler) to run PWM mode depending on the motherboard connections (set on L-Connect software, under fan, set to PWM)
      Output 4 - 1 x fan (rear) to run at 1800 rpm (set on L-Connect software)
      Option 3 - Motherboard Fan Headers (CPU1, CPU_OPT, CHASSIS_FAN_1 and etc)
      =================================================================
      This will be my favorite, I can connect each set of fans to the respective motherboard fan headers and to control them either using fix RPM or PWM function.
      To be honest as why I choose Option 3, cos I am not the type who likes aRGB effects. My current setup is just using performance fans and I choose to control my fans through the motherboard in UEFI/Bios. I do not need to install any additional software to control them. As for lightings effect, I only do RGB and not aRGB. With this said, I use a physical remote controller to turn on and off those lighting effects, again no additional software needed.
      This is my current setup imgur.com/gallery/Pw5kY4q if you want to see more, this video will explain why I dislike aRGBs or RGBs to be always on. watch till the end of this video ruclips.net/video/0qSaX_mOjQc/видео.html

      Hi FastEddie989, welcome to my channel, on your L-Connect. there are indication of 1 2 3 and 4 on each output. make sure they are highlighted, if not it will not light up. if that's not the issue. I would suggest you to test out one fan at a time that connects to the uni controller output. if fans does function, test out daisy chaining a fan at a time. just make sure you do not go beyond 4 fans in one daisy chain. during the chain, if the following fan does not work, swap another fan and daisy chain, as it could be due to contact issues. if that's the case, use an eraser to clean up the contact points like the illustration in this video ruclips.net/video/XxSL8VZoYRg/видео.html

Anyway you can don't connect that argb cable between your uni controller to the motherboard. By connecting the USB And Sata is more then sufficient to use the L-Connect to control your fans argb. If you wanted to use the motherboard argb software, I would adivse you to ask at Lian Li reddit forum here www.reddit.com/r/lianli/

    just to add, if you connect the 4pin pwm from the lian li SL120 to pwm header on the motherboard (without using the LIAN LI CONTROLLER). I can control PWM individually with the motherboard software. And if you purchase JST to ARGB (5v 3pin) adapter you can also plug it in to the motherboard 3pin 5v ARGB header too. with this setup you will actually control everything from the motherboard software and be able to not use the controller hence even lesser cable. provided you know what you are doing and not overload the ARGB header. Most PWM header can support up to 1A and should have no problem having 4 fans daisychaining and controlled/powered by 1 pwm header. Nice vid. Cheers.

I recently bought this UniFan Sl120 and an AIO Galahad 360, they are both Lian Li, and it seem’s that the Galahad fans have the same RGB connection as the unifans, they haven’t arrived yet so I can’t confirm that they are the same. Hi ya Alexandre Rossi, based on the manual which I have downloaded here www.lian-li.com/galahad-240-360/ , you not only can connect the Galad fans to the UNI Fan controller. you can also connect the pump argb to it too.
      Since I have tested the max Ampere of this unit. below is just for your reference and it will be safe if you are connecting the Galahad AIO fans and pump block.
      UNI Fan set 1 to 3

      Set 2 - 3 x Galahad Fans
      Set 3 - 1 x Galahad Pump Bock

      @@alexandrerossi3553 Hi there, ok I do not have a Galahad AIO but I do have the manual downloaded. download the manual or look at the manual that comes with the box.
      First identify the 3pin argb daisy chain cable (Page 1 with indication Q)
      (Page 6-7 with indication Q) connect all three pin ARGB header of your three fans to this cable. on the other end, which leaves only one connection. connect that to your Unifan Controller.
      As for the fan connection on the manual it does not stat how the four pin header of the fans are daisy chained. you can plug to your motherboard for the 4 pin headers from the fan. Or if able to daisy chain it. then connect it to the only end to the Uni fan controller.

      If you select Input 1 (#1) to PWM on the L-Connect software, only Input 1 will ramp up based on the temperature readings on the motherboard as the PWM Cable is connected between the Uni controller to the motherboard.
      The rest (Input 2 to 4) will not ramp up as the settings on the Uni Fan is on Quiet and not PWM

    Why do you recommend the fans going through the lian li controller rather than the bios?

    • @KleoYan
      @KleoYan  3 года назад +1

      Hi HawkEye1194, the reason I have stated that is, if motherboard which required to tweak fun curve using applications instead through the motherboard bios/uefi, it will require two passes before the fans will react. 1st the motherboard utility program and 2nd the L-connect program. Now if you asked me do I use these uni fans. my answer to you is no. I did most of the uni controller videos are mainly because a friend of mine bought the uni fans and other of my friends follow. they were having issues with it, therefore trying to help them, I figured if I learn something from these uni fans or the controller, I will share it with those who are having issue.
      Now, just additional info, I personally do not like argbs at all, abit of rgb will be ok and I have to ensure that they can be off at all times. this is my current setup ruclips.net/video/0qSaX_mOjQc/видео.html or imgur.com/gallery/Pw5kY4q
      My setup is pretty straight forward, I choose performance and detailed aesthetic compared to just showing so much lighting effects and these are my reason.
      1st argb if you always have it turn on, they will burn out fast.. with one LED burn out.. the whole argb will not work.
      2nd no additional software needed, therefore your PC will be happier with one background process off
      3rd be it argb, rgb or ultra led, it produce heat inside your case. it might not produce alot but still you will be making your cooling AIO fans or case fans to work harder, causing a) more power consumption b) increase noise operation c) more messy cables for cable management which does affect cooling.
      the above are just some of my explanation. if you want to know more in-depth of my thoughts, we can discuss this via email at godzylatech@gmail.com thank you!

      Hi magno, welcome to my channel, I suggest you to connect. it this way. for AIO pump and fans.. plug your AIO pump directly to CPU_OPT (set to full speed) then plug your radiator AL120 fans to the CPU_FAN, this way you know that those fans will react upon the temperate of your CPU. make sure in UEFI / Bios you have set CPU_FAN to pwm, you can set your own fan curve or to use the profile, example Normal, Performance, Quiet and ETC. as for CPU_OPT set to full. as for the AL120 argb, connect it to the uni controller. the reason to do this. incase of the uni-controller or L-connect application goes wrong, at least your CPU pump and AL120 on the radiator will still be working as it's following direct orders / commands from your motherboard.
      as for the rest of the AL120 (Case fans) you can plug all to the uni controller and control the fans using the L-Connect or you can bypass and to use motherboard pwm settings to control your fans, just make sure that the pwm cable is connected between the uni controller and to your motherboard fan header (example ChassisFan1) and please make sure that in UEFI, example ChassisFan1 is set to pwm with the fan profile (Normal, Performance, Quiet and ETC)

    So by utilizing the hub, u can control each groups fan curve meaning if you have 12 fans( 4 groups of 3), do all fans have to run at the same speed or can u do 6 slow and 6 fast or whatever rpm u set them to? U can’t set them one by one but u can set a group?

    • @KleoYan
      @KleoYan  3 года назад

      hi Allen Sostan, welcome to my channel,
      I will try to put this as simple as possible.
      1st situatio, if you did plug the PWM fan connector from the uni controller to your motherboard. It will take only that PWM curve you have set. All your four output on your uni fan will only read that PWM. Of course you need to set on L-Connect as PWM.
      2nd situation. same as above but this time you do not plug the PWM cable from your uni controller to the motherboard. you can manually set each set of output to the fix RPM that you wanted via the L-Connect application. No PWM function.
      hope that helps. If you do like my content, remember to subscribe and to click on the notification bell, thank you very much!

      Hi John Waugh, thank you for the question. you could but i would not advise that. Reason being, this controller calibrates the SL120 and SL140 fans which the RPM is at 800 - 1800 rpms and these fans kick starts at 6volts. if your fan kick starts at 7volts, it might not even start at low rpm and if your the RPM might be slightly different. but the choice is yours. you can give it a try. just that the RPMs set for your non-RGB fans might not run as the speed you wanted. once again thank you for your question and to have visit my channel. @@KleoYan thank you! So basically connect each set of fans directly to the 2 separate accounts fan headers instead of the unifan controller. The ARGB connector will be used only for RGB control thru L-connect

      @@nnacpil yup. That’s correct. Fan rpm will be connected on motherboard fan headers (control by motherboard software) and the argb lightings will be connected to uni fan controller (controlled by uni fan controller).

      HI Rob, thank you for your question. yes you can. but you need convertors to do that for the aRGB connection, but please see if your motherboard argb header for the Ampere limit and note that each SL120 fans argb load is at 0.65a, so 3 will be at 1.95a which most motherboard should be capable of. if you do 4 then you need to watch out as some motherboard argb header only support 2A. as for the Fan load, it's at 0.18a which is fine to have 3 to 4 fans daisy chained, not an issue.
