@@christystewart4567 There shouldn’t be an argument! Mike Pinder the original keyboardist worked as a demonstration engineer for Mellotronics which had their HQ in Birmingham England. Whoever arranged and rehearsed this needs to be commended. The coordination of choral, orchestral, and rock musicians was superb, and Ann Wilson's singing was a masterpiece of control, build, and intensity.

Story goes that RP said that he wanted Jason in the box with them to represent his father. Jason politely declined as he had a gig already scheduled that night. RP insisted, but again, Jason said he couldn't. So when they announced John Bonham's son Jason and he walks out, shakes his drumsticks at them and RP stands up and points at Jason. IMO it's almost like RP is saying "OH you meant this gig".

Their manager told them there was a local band that did an amazing cover of Stairway to Heaven & that they should check it out. They decided to go. The name of the local band was Heart.
My dad just turned 68 and he used to tell me all about this. I forget the name of the club, but he and his buddy would go there every single weekend and watch Heart perform. Plant teared up because Jason came on stage. He tells the story in an interview with Howard Stern, about how he had just told Page that Jason and his family should have been invited, and then he came out to play the drums. You can see Jason point at them, because no one in the band knew he would be playing.

I've watched this a hundred times and my eyes haven't remained dry yet. Jones, Plant, and Page personify humility and grace.... not bad musicians either. Page's spontaneous excitement and Plant's tears make this an incomparable moment in music history... and of course, Heart, Bonham, et al is nothing short of spectacular.
I was recently teaching my granddaughter how to play her electric guitar, and of course found myself picking out the intro to Stairway to Heaven. My grand-kid then spoke up, "Oh, I know that song. I like it." I then continued playing up to the loud and dramatic ending, and for a second, grandpa became a star. This is just one example what these guys have given us. I am so grateful for their gift...
My god...this gave me goosebumps!! Easily one of the best tributes I’ve ever seen. I know Plant, Page and JPJ are probably beyond sick of hearing this song, but I can tell they felt that! It was like them experiencing themselves for the first time. Wow! What a performance!!!
The first time I ever cried listening to music was hearing this song for the first time at 6th grade camp being played on the acoustic guitar by a camp counselor. The year was 1987 and I had never heard of Led Zeppelin before, but the song profoundly inspired me. It’s 2024 now and I have a four year old daughter who LOVES Led Zeppelin. She asks me to play it all the time. This is the song I hope to hear when I’m going home to Heaven when it’s my time someday. The lyrics “there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run, there's still time to change the road you're on” have been my watchwords throughout life.
Heart! 110 percent... and anything that can even be said in words. They knocked it out of the park, and Led Zeppelin was loving it. It just could not possibly be done any better, I could not give them any more accolades....110 or percent perfection (if there is such a thing).
Watched this at least 15 times. The choir was phenomenal and the bands reaction is spectacular. Every part of my life in the 70's had Led Zeppelins aura around it.
Robert plant was like a mythical being in his youth. ❤ Jimmy Page was out if this world. They all grew in such sophistication and class. They still look incredible.
This generation of rock was golden, where we had magnificent bands showing their musical talent. This presentation was like going back in a time machine where we saw our idols get emotional as we once experienced. gratitude led zeplin
@@haluwazone299 Dude... that was Awesome! But, I do have to admit that in some ways I like Heart's version alittle better ONLY because it was slightly different and her vocals are in their own realm. With that said, yes CRS's version was basically a carbon perfect copy of LZ, but possibly with alittle extra zing. So honestly, I'm not sure I like one more than the other, only Heart's version sticks out as something special in it's own way. But thank you, I am now hooked on CRS.
This is up there, in the top 5 best ever live singing Everything about this is pure perfection the original drummers son on drums, all the hats, the vocals, backup singers, and the original singers crying.
I'm a guy in his 50's now and I gotta say, Heart was one of my favorite concerts ever! Saw them at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas back in the early 90's and they just ROCKED THE HOUSE! They were amazing here too! 🎤👩🏻🎶🎸👩🏼
I met and hung out with Robert Plant years ago when he stayed at the small hotel I worked foron the Washingtons state coast. He was playing in Tacoma and he gave . entire staff tickets to his concert in Tacoma. One of the best memories of my life.
I don’t know who the guitarist was performing, but he absolutely nailed jimmy page’s guitar solo, that solo is a legit work of art, one of the best ever
can you imagine... the phone call. "So.. hey man.. Heart is playing Stairway..... for Led Zeppelin.. and they want you on lead guitar" Every musician who played spent 18 hours a day practicing and asking their friends if they thought it was ok...
I have always been a fan of Heart and when I heard this cover and the power behind her, it was absolutely a religious experience! I can only imagine what it must have been like to have been in that audience! This was so stunning!
The look on Robert, Jimmy, and John's faces are just priceless.. To be alive when and to of known how much of an impact you've made on the history of music has to be the most humbling experience imaginable.
Listen when they ascended to the crescendo, the final layer of the song, after already giving it the professional choir treatment and brought out the additiinal choir wearing the bowler hats that John used to wear,Robert was VERY CLOSE TO SOBBING like a baby 😭😭😭. I mean HE ALMOST COULDNT 🛑 HIMSELF. They made Jimmy Paige cry. Jimmy F&cking Paige! Anne and Nancy are rock and roll Goddesses themselves. They are arguably the best female rock band in the history of music. I challenge you to name a better one. The last layer of choir with the bowler hats made me want to cry as well so i can only imagine what Robert feels like. These men deserve this. It has to feel very close to God to be worshipped in this way by all of the other humans you encounter. This is the most legendary tribute ive ever seen i do believe. Its so cool to watch it again

I think all 3 million views of this were from my Dad. He would listen to this cover over and over to drown out his anxiety. He suffered from epilepsy, and I would have to call an ambulance really often. I remember our neighbors nickname us "The Ambulance House" Sadly, he lost his battle when he had a giant seizure in his sleep and my mom didn't get there in time. RIP Dad 💜
They must have worked VERY HARD rehearsing for this song. Hat's off to Ann and Nancy, the band, orchestra and the choir! Mostly thanks to Led Zepp for the creation of this awesome and fearless music! This is one of my favorite videos on RUclips no doubt!
Heart has been hugely influenced by LZ forever. They always do a Led Zeppelin song in their concerts. Being a huge fan of both, I can say it's a real treat!
This song makes me cry every time I see it. I wish John Bonham were here to have witnessed this remarkable performance. He would have been so proud of his son. His son seems like a good guy too. For those who don't know the backstory, on the drums is Jason Bonham, son of Zeppelins one and only drummer John Bonham who died in 1980. John Bonham was known for wearing bowler hats, and it was very cool that the entire choir wore one in tribute as well as his son. But what I think is even cooler is that it looks like that was John Bonhams last drum set! How cool is that! Obviously it makes sense that he would inherit his Dads drums. It is the exact same translucent orange kit with the same bass drum head, drum set up and cymbals his Dad had! I am just guessing but they must be the original drums! I bet they only come out on special occasions. And I have seen Jason in other gigs through the years and he does NOT use that kit nor is that his general set up. The only question left for those drummers out there like me is did Jason go with a single bass drum pedal on this performance like his Dad was famous for. Not that using a single pedal is special in an of itself, just that doing what John Bonham did with just a single pedal is incredible! Very cool! Very cool indeed!
great emotional cover of one of the best R&R musical experiences of the 20th century from four lads with enormous talent, still listening at 68yrs old !
Got the privilege to watch Heart perform this song live yesterday. It was absolutely breathtaking and brought tears to my eyes from knowing that I would never get to see Led Zeppelin perform it. Heart did an amazing job and helped produce the best concert I've ever attended.
Their smiles and almost tears and JPJ smiling. What many dont realize. JPJ and Page played in studio together for a good while. JPJ is a musical genius in his own right, and he did a lot of the engineering on the Zepplin albums

Guitar soloist Shane Fontayne is also brilliant 🎶! He's pretty much underutilized touring with graham nash.
LO MAS GRANDE QUE ESCUCHE DESDE MIS 12AÑOS❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I couldn’t imagine a more beautiful tribute from one legend to another
I was recently teaching my granddaughter how to play her electric guitar, and of course found myself picking out the intro to Stairway to Heaven. My grand-kid then spoke up, "Oh, I know that song. I like it." I then continued playing up to the loud and dramatic ending, and for a second, grandpa became a star. This is just one example what these guys have given us. I am so grateful for their gift...
Jo-jo Ma having the absolute time of his life
He is playing too?
@@usagi_t
Yo Yo Ma was in the audience, he is his own little rock star!!!
My god...this gave me goosebumps!! Easily one of the best tributes I’ve ever seen. I know Plant, Page and JPJ are probably beyond sick of hearing this song, but I can tell they felt that! It was like them experiencing themselves for the first time. Wow! What a performance!!!
The original Zeppelin was clearly blown away by this incredible rendition of one of their greatest songs.
It’s at this moment that RP realises the heritage that he and his band created, will join the catalogue of giants in classical music
This isn't a song; this is perfection.
+Jack Epstein You said it
NO HABLO EN OTRO IDIOMA Q NO SEA ESPAÑOL, SOY ARGENTINA❤
This is church
Man! This version of the song moved it’s creators nearly as much as their version moved the rest of us!
This has to be one of the greatest performances in rock history. So incredibly well done 👏👏👏
The number of times i've watched this is unhealthy
Me too
Me too!
Me too!

Seeing Robert Plant brought to tears while watching his legacy unfold was extremely moving
Anyone else get all emotional every time they see/hear this version !? It’s so god damn powerful my goodness I love it
When Jimmy Page cries over his own song, you know its THE TRIBUTE. Damn goosebumps :)
They don’t make music like this anymore. Probably never will aging
Robert plant was like a mythical being in his youth. ❤
Jimmy Page was out if this world.
They all grew in such sophistication and class. They still look incredible.
Robert Plant knew it was going to be good, but underestimating just how mind blowingly good! WOW ❤
The more I watched this song the more i deep fall into happiness and joy.
I’m sorry my brother Louie missed this. We had this played carrying his coffin to be buried 😢. He loved Zeppelin
This version brought a smile to my father's face, cutting through severe alzheimers.
That’s beautiful. I plan to do the same with my mom
Jimmy Page is counting every single chord played. How proud they are; what pressure to be playing this anthem in front of these rock GODS. WOW
LOL, I thought I was the only one that noticed him counting! :D
@@MChantal76 Nope! After watching this a kajillion times, I finally noticed it as well.
It was great, but it wasn't played like the original. Some guitar parts were left out.
Absolutely no one else in the world but Annie Wilson could pull this off. You freaking go girl!!
I think Adam Lambert could do it, but probably not too many others.
SOY ARGETINA, HABLO EN ESPAÑOL, IDIOMA, NO COMPRENDER TU MENJ.❤
This generation of rock was golden, where we had magnificent bands showing their musical talent. This presentation was like going back in a time machine where we saw our idols get emotional as we once experienced. gratitude led zeplin
january 2020 and still feel this is best cover - stairway to heaven - led zeppelin by heart.... good job
Absolutely.
Check out the classic rock show's version, even better!
@@1LegintheGrave don't mention it brother! Always glad to meet people of good taste.
@@1LegintheGrave and do check out CRS's cover of Bohemian Rapsody.
I’m a grown ass man and I had tears in my eyes!!!
This is up there, in the top 5 best ever live singing
Everything about this is pure perfection the original drummers son on drums, all the hats, the vocals, backup singers, and the original singers crying.
Led by 62 y/o Ann Fucking Wilson, the most awesome goddess of rock!!!
Aammennn
Im speechless !!! OMG!!!!
Ann Wilson made Page and Plant cry. Jason had also tears in his eyes most probably thought about his dad.
What a show! wordy of these three legends..
ENTIENDO EN ESPAÑOL, ARGENTINA, NO SE MUCHO INGLES😢
Boy does she still have the pipes!
Ann Wilson could sing the phone book and make people cry. That woman is AMAZING!
They said Don Henley was brought to tears!
What's funny is that Ann and Nancy will soon be sitting in those very same seats listening to their well deserved tribute.
The problem is there is no band amazing enough to do a tribute to Heart that is half as good as they one they did for Led Zep.
@@bonniepega2592 Foo Fighters might, just MIGHT be good enough. Their RUSH tribute was amazing.
I'm a guy in his 50's now and I gotta say, Heart was one of my favorite concerts ever! Saw them at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas back in the early 90's and they just ROCKED THE HOUSE! They were amazing here too!
🎤👩🏻🎶🎸👩🏼
Yeah, Barracuda is actually a tribute to Achilles Last Stand if you play them back to back, Achilles first.
to be honest it's not funny to me (no offence) but rather sad we have to say goodbye to all the good musians
You know Anne Wilson nailed it when you see Robert Plant having a hard time hold back his tears and Jimmy Page wanting to go on stage and jam
I met and hung out with Robert Plant years ago when he stayed at the small hotel I worked foron the Washingtons state coast. He was playing in Tacoma and he gave . entire staff tickets to his concert in Tacoma. One of the best memories of my life.
The look on roberts face as Ann came out he knew she kill it! And the queen sure did.
I don’t know who the guitarist was performing, but he absolutely nailed jimmy page’s guitar solo, that solo is a legit work of art, one of the best ever
can you imagine... the phone call. "So.. hey man.. Heart is playing Stairway..... for Led Zeppelin.. and they want you on lead guitar"
Every musician who played spent 18 hours a day practicing and asking their friends if they thought it was ok...
Shane Fontayne is his stage name.
Sheldon Cooper.
the brilliant Shayne Fontayne
@@Benstormcrow😂😂😂😂
I have always been a fan of Heart and when I heard this cover and the power behind her, it was absolutely a religious experience! I can only imagine what it must have been like to have been in that audience! This was so stunning!
Can you imagine the pressure on Ann and Nancy? The absolute rock gods looking down on you whilst performing their signature song
When Jason points at Robert/the band, it's like he's saying get ready to be blown away. He was right.
When your own song hit you hard, the way it's hit millions for years. The circle is complete
Absolutely a great cover song performance Ann Wilson did a great job singing a Led Zeppelin stair way to heaven. Jimmy Page was proud to see Jason Bonham on drums n Robert Plant was so happy he had some tears in his eyes beautiful performance by Heart 😎🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸🌹🌹❤️❤️🙏🏋️🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🎸🎸🌹
Robert Plant's not the only one in tears. I've watched this over a dozen times and cry every time. What an amazing and beautiful tribute.
It's easy to see why this performance would touch anyone, Ann Wilson is one of the best female vocalists in history.
The best song ever written and composed in the history of music 🎶, ❤
I think all 3 million views of this were from my Dad. He would listen to this cover over and over to drown out his anxiety. He suffered from epilepsy, and I would have to call an ambulance really often. I remember our neighbors nickname us "The Ambulance House" Sadly, he lost his battle when he had a giant seizure in his sleep and my mom didn't get there in time. RIP Dad 💜
❤
Greatest Zeppelin cover of all time! Totally blew me away!
LEGENDS!!!!! Such a clean performance! Soon Heart will be in those seats getting thier medals.
They must have worked VERY HARD rehearsing for this song. Hat's off to Ann and Nancy, the band, orchestra and the choir! Mostly thanks to Led Zepp for the creation of this awesome and fearless music! This is one of my favorite videos on RUclips no doubt!
It makes me wonder - if they were thinking "we did this with 4 people, and it's taking them almost 2 dozen people to recreate our song"?
I never liked the song until Heart did it.
@@maggymusic You are in the good company of Mr Robert Plant.
Heart has been hugely influenced by LZ forever. They always do a Led Zeppelin song in their concerts. Being a huge fan of both, I can say it's a real treat!
@@billferguson6175 they would have been thinking they created the song in a small room somewhere, now it's being sung by a whole orchestra
That would explain why he too had tears in his eye. Thank you for the back fill.
Thanks for sharing. Your bits of information made this video even more special
Cool of you to notice that
Thanks for this it’s awesome, some ppl reallly see small details 👌🏽
The remaining members of Zep had no clue Jason was coming to this show. Robert especially was choked up by that.
great emotional cover of one of the best R&R musical experiences of the 20th century from four lads with enormous talent, still listening at 68yrs old !
It took every single vocalist on that stage to live up to Robert Plant's vocals on this song. What an incredible rendition.
No pressure really. Playing that solo in front of Jimmy Page, Yo Yo Ma and the President of the United States.
Unbelievable! Not an easy song to recreate that sound!!
Possibly the best ever performance of this song by anyone other than Zep.
