Thank you all for finding this video I uploaded in 2012 and watching it. I remember when I posted this video (I was one of the first ones). I had to share it because I literally had tears in my eyes after watching Heart sing Stairway to Heaven with Jason Bonham playing drums as I watched Robert Plant getting emotional.
I can’t be the only person who watches this over and over to watch the expressions and obvious appreciation of Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones. The Stairway to Heaven finale is phenomenal.
You're definitely not the only person who does this. I have watched this video countless times for the same reasons. It's amazing! Stairway to Heaven was simply incredible.

Watching again. My 8th grade music teacher started closing out the spring choir show with Stair Way to Heaven from the moment it hit the air. Hated it back then.

This musical tribute to Led Zeppelin is one of the finest of the Kennedy Center Honors Program. Ann and Nancy Wilson should get a medal for this cover of Stairway to Heaven...
@@davidday8417 I heard somewhere that Heart had its origins as a Led Zeppelin tribute band. I don't know if that's true, but they cover LZ like no one else can. They did a live album in Seattle in 2008 (I think?) that had an extraordinary cover of the Battle of Evermore. Who covers that song? Who can do it justice? Heart can.
@@23wiski Go look it up ! Plant talks about it. For one Jason Bonham wasn't suppose to play. And it was kept from the Plant and the band that he was. And seeing Jason after a long time meant a lot. Plant also realized the impact their music had, and that it wasn't lost on them, after all those years. Do some research, Plant talks about it in depth !
As a black man, I am used to catching grief for loving rock music. Actually, I love and cherish many genres of music. My only requirement is that it touch and strengthen my soul. I grew up on Motown, TSOP, and rhythm & blues. Any time I heard sound that stuck with me, I wanted to know who did it and where it came from. This led me to blues, gospel, and rock at a time when I sought and needed support and direction, and I got it! Eventually, I got picky about pop, found great country music beyond "Hee Haw", and decided that my cd collection REALLY needed some Duke Ellington, so I found my way into the world of jazz. I even eased up on my 30-year allergy to disco music, and have found some rap that I can relate to and enjoy. In music appreciation, I am on a journey that, hopefully, won't end soon. But when the Kennedy Center chose to honor Led Zeppelin, I was skeptical. Could they do the music justice? Foo Fighters, Kid Rock, and Lenny Kravitz showed their love and respect for the music and for Misters Plant, Page, Jones, and Bonham. It is a pleasure to watch it again and again. But when the Wilson sisters walked out, along with Jason Bonham (wearing his daddy's derby!), and managed to stress test the building, accompanied by a classical string ensemble AND a gospel choir, by performing AT LEAST one of the best live performances of "Stairway to Heaven" EVER, I had to say something because they ended up making me smile😊😊❤❤. I apologize for this being wordy, but when folks of many shapes, colors, cultures, and genres get together to punch a hole in the sky, it is good to know that I will be just one of millions that will replay this video many times. Lord have mercy, what a night!🙏🏽🙏🏽👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Good taste. Were you a fan when Aerosmith collaborated with Run DMC ? Nobody can scream sing like Steven Tyler (Not even Robert Plant) I'm looking forward to when the Kennedy Center honors Aerosmith. It's just got to do it soon.
@lisascorp I got into rock music in 1979. First time I heard "Dream On," Aerosmith had my attention. When Misters Tyler and Perry worked with Run DMC, I was stunned how well it worked. It also brought rap into the mainstream. I saw Run DMC live two nights running. They were good.
It brought tears to my eyes when Jason Bonham looked up in the sky at the end of "Stairway to Heaven". His Pops looking down and said, "Very well played my son"

Yes what a great studio band. Got to see them in 76 the following week Pink Floyd. David Gilmore another great guitar player. The best. I'm 65 got to see a ton of great bands my favorite live act was the Stones in 1972 3 hrs of rip the walls down. The songs they played from the albums let it bleed to Its only l . Half of rock and rollernever heard their greatest hits. They were never played on the raido.Mick Taylor was probably my favorite guitar player. Clapton I saw overrated.

Musically you can say vey few had the range of Freddie Mercury or Steve Perry.. Madonna had a bigger impact on the world than Zepplin.. I saw Led Zepplins last performance in Chicago and I saw Michael Jackson in Chicago... The Victory tour was a much better show !
That always does the same for me. I think I associate a choir (gospel or pop) with a celebration of a life that has passed, like sending thanks and joy up to the departed soul or something, letting him know we'll be ok, and opening a door for all of us to let some of our grief to fly away. Wearing the bowlers with Bonzo's son leaves no doubt about who's life they were celebrating. That's how I feel it anyway.
After hearing the announcement of Ann Wilson's cancer diagnosis, I came to listen to this again. Most powerful performance, beautiful. I am such a fan of both Heart and Led. Prayers that Ann will recovery and sing on. Music will live on forever...
@@Dansrgurl Anne actually became a Legend years before this performance. Her status as a female rock n roll singer started in the early 1970s. As a matter of fact. Anne and her sister recently announced they are going out on tour in 2024 the first time in five years
No rock band comes close to Led Zeppelin. My wife called me from Texas as I was working in Denver to give me word this was being broadcasted that evening. I thought this would be good. It was out of this World good. I grew up with Led Zeppelin in the 1970's. I have all 9 albums on vinyl to this day in 2023. My 43 year old daughter was raised to love Led Zeppelin and my son too. I made sure they knew the importance of this music. I do believe in 100 years the folks of that time will be jamming to this music. Over 40 years have passed since John Bonham's death. Google best rock drummer ever and John Bonham's name is at the top of the list. Simply incredible production with Ann and Nancy closing the tribute. I still watch this with a tear.
Robert was moved by Heart's performance, but it was memories of John Bonham, his best friend, that brought tears. Jason starts Stairway wearing a Bowler hat like his father but it's the moment that a 2nd choir comes into view, all wearing Bowlers - it hit Robert in the chest, you can see it.
Thats a great piece of info to share, I did not know that. Im 51, always knew Zeppelin and their place in rock n roll history etc, but didnt know that style of hat was a hat Bonham wore. Very cool touch here... all these years later and this video gives even more meaning for me. Thanks for choosing to share that.
This video is from 11 yrs ago. I can’t believe all these folks (including me) are still commenting. What a legacy! I was 16 yrs old when first I heard Stairway to Heaven. A friend came for a sleepover and had just bought the album. I’ll never forget it.
Make that 2024. Only one that I did not care for was Kid Rock(he is OK in his own lane but not for the Zep). Heart plus Jason was perfect, Grohl was great on drums, sorry to Taylor(RIP) but not the best vocals and Lenny was great vocals. I think he should have sang with FF and instead of Kid Rock, doing all three partial songs.
@@bamachineI got the impression he was not very impressed with Kid Rock at all. One thing that stands out, and I'm old enough to have seen Robert Plant live in the early 80's when his voice was still at it's best, you will get a greater appreciation of his vocal range and just what a good lead singer he was.

Wanted to see him when he toured with Allison Krauss. If I had the money, at the time, would have loved to fly to NY for the Atlantic 40 year gig to see Zep with Jason.
Having Heart do Stairway to Heaven was a stroke of genius! No one could cover that other than Ann Wilson. This is a masterclass in how to cover a song and do it right! What a tribute!!!
I agree totally. It makes sense though. As I understand, Heart was originally a Led Zeppelin tribute band in Seattle. I think they always did LZ songs in their later sets. In any case, they were extremely talented and massive fans of LZ. Ann & Nancy deserved that place of honor, doing Stairway for the band. No pressure though...
I can't get over how great that version of Stairway is. Ann's singing is so sensitive, so respectful and the arrangement out of this world. You could see how it moved all three of the Zeps. Just phenomenal.
Plant has said he was emotional because of John's son playing drums. Page didn't get excited till the chorus appeared. JPJ is a stoic guy. Not sure what you are talking about.

I love how Page is there listening carefully to how the musicians treat his music... the love he has for his work and the reassurance down the road is unbelievable!!

I’ve been drumming for 47 years spent 20 years paying professionally all over the world and look on Robert Plant’s face with the emotion that he showed while Ann and Nancy were heart. We’re doing stairway to heaven. There’s no money in the world that can make you connect with people, and any musician in the world doesn’t need any kind of accolade except for respect… for being good at craft… Led Zeppelin didn’t just make a footprint. They smashed into the rock ‘n’ roll world with such that they will ever end forever always will be immortalized as one of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll bands in history, hands-down.!!!!!

I have never heard about that as well but the emotion on all 3 of them says everything I need to know. best KCH show ever! (Another performance not rock in roll by no means is Adam Lambert when he honored Cher at her KCH with the song Believe he sang that song beautifully so much so that the tears were streaming down Cher's face before he was done and she hoped up so fast to applaud his performance, that one is right at the top for a non-Rock in Roll cover, sorry don't remember when she was inducted) Check it out!
I've watched the Stairway to Heaven tribute by Heart so many times and it's still so awesome and its almost 2024 in a few days. But the guy who impressed me was the lead guitarist he was just too smooth... I had to find out who he was and found out his name is Shane Fontayne he deserves accolades as well.. lets be honest this was the best cover of Stairway to Heaven and anybody that had anything to do with this performance needs to get an award.
i watch Robert Plant kind of tear up as they sing Stairway to Heaven and I can totally relate. I bet he is thinking back to the life gone by and the times they had , how most of the good stuff is past . Its hard to get old and realize the best is in the past . and dont give me this stuff about how in your 60's and 70's you have a lot to live for. Its all in the rear view mirror. With all the craziness of today , I long for the good ole days of rock and roll.
i give huge props to the sound man. can you imagine mixing the orchestra, backup singers, instruments, the lead singer ? night mare but he pulled it off flawlessly
I don't know anything about that but it sounds like you know what you're talking about and looking at it from your perspective I can see how might be challenging. They must've practiced a lot, not only to have a good performance but for the sound people too to get the mix right.
I'm sure they rehearsed it, but they surely remixed it in post, meaning we hear a more careful and deliberate mix than the live audience heard. They had 24 days to work on post-production before this edited broadcast. I suspect they probably played the full versions of these songs live and edited them down for broadcast length, which is a bit of a sad thought, but it's how TV works. We got the good mix, but the live audience got the whole songs. I know, I'm speculating some, but there are edits that come across a bit clunky. It's all good. I still get super-emotional when I watch this. It's a solid collection of masterpieces performed by great ensembles of virtuosos who did a lot more than expert production and engineering work. IMO, there was a hugely uplifting theme about life in this whole tribute.

Plant famously hates Stairway, but you can tell that treatment of it with the horns, strings and full chorus got to him. Gets to me, too, every time I watch this. Best Kennedy Center Honors tribute ever.
Hate isn’t the right word. He has said the lyrics came from a 23 year old guy that he doesn’t connect with anymore. Nor did he feel that stairway was the song that adequately captured the true essence of the band. He certainly acknowledges and has some form of love for it knowing what it means to all of us as fans. I’m sure hearing it everywhere all the time was possibly triggering for him due to how much pain he endured during the mid to later years of the band.

ONLY Ann Wilson of Heart could do justice to Stairway to Heaven. No words great enough to describe the phenomenal performance at the Kennedy Center Honors! It gave me chills. Her voice is truly a gift from God.
That's because Nancy Wilson's an amazing guitarist and singer and Annie Wilson still has a tremendous high voice. She was perfect. I don't personally like Jason because he only made it riding under his dad's name and talent as a Rock n Roll Drummer.
Zepparella (girl band) does a dang good job. Still partial to Heart though. Roger Fisher should have been the one playing the guitar solo for Stairway to Heaven imho - kimie
Me too. I’m a bit low atm, facing major surgery. And feeling old. Watching these guys takes me back to my adolescence when we were invincible . And weren’t we lucky to be young in the 70’s. A time of societal revolution

When the choir suddenly appears and fills the song with an amazing performance empowered by angels from above doesn't flush the tears from your eyes you have no soul.
I as a BLACK Man just watched this for the first time and it literally brought tears too my eyes - I remember as a child over 60 + yrs ago living in a small town in West Virginia were racism was as blatant as the sun rising and falling - Rock music for blacks was considered "Evil & Satanic" - But I remember STILL listening too some of it and absolutely feeling the power of it all .I loved Queen , Heart ,Chicago, Led Z , and many more - Music is mostly immune to race or the evils of bigotry to the average human ears , with ALL the evilness, RACISM, hipppocracy ,and hate for EVERYONE in this nation I just wish that Music [ Of ALL sorts ] could unite us ... Just a dream I guess 🙏

And speaking as an old white lady (who married a Black man in 1979 and have the most amazing daughter by him), I have never met one soul who hates Black people. Am I the only one that cried through this whole show? It pulled at my heartstrings....and gave me such a joyous feeling at the same time. This was GREAT!!! And emotional for an old music lover like me.
Yeah it got me too... Seeing countless rock musicians paying their respects to the ultimate rock God's. I mean cmon... How many musicians pick up their first guitar and don't try to ply a zeppelin song? Zero. How many of those artists wouldn't be up there if they weren't inspired by Led Zeppelin. Also seeing Taylor Hawkins trade places with Dave grohl was a tribute in itself.

When I was a teenager listening to these guys, yeah, they were great, but the appreciation level was not what it is now that I'm older. They were such masters at what they did, and you get filled up by listening to just how great they were. The boomer generation produced such a breadth of great, great music; not that great music didn't exist before Zeppelin, but the sheer breadth of what we got to listen to is beyond words. Think about it, and appreciate what we had.
I agree 100%. Class of ‘82. My local rock station played Led Zeppelin often. I grew up on this. I say I Loved it then, but my appreciation for these Greats is so much more now that I’m older. Rock On! 👍
As a 53 yrs old singer of Rock…. Who has since stopped…. Singers …. Our natural gift are vocal chords…. We cannot go to a store and replace that string or another. If you notice… Robert Plant is crying subtly throughout Stairway…. His eyes are heavy probably for many reasons… but as a singer I can express for a fact he has heavy tears because it’s his song and in his life his vocals were part of The Hammer of the Gods…. It is a unique and very personal fragile relationship that all singers have. We cannot buy another set of strings to sound the same. Love to all from Montreal, Canada.

Every SINGLE Time that curtain goes up and the chorus joins in on Stairway to Heaven, I get chills, Every Single Time! The greatest rock band of all time!
I would love to have seen the stage in whole, especially during those transitions, just overall more in general. As overwhelmed as we were watching it on TV, being able to see the whole stage would have been 10x’s more emotional.
Not 1 dislike. The world remembers and will never forget the greatest music ever made. I'm a grandmother driving around blasting 80's rock in my car. My grandsons listen to this music now. Have to pass it on!
I remember watching this live in 2012. I was already a Led Zeppelin fan, and in 2012 I was 23 years old - ironically the same age Robert Plant wrote Stairway to Heaven. He no longer identifies with that song, and said it’s a song from that era and should be left as such. I understand this to an extent but I think what’s lost on him is that song he wrote at 23 by just tossing lyrics to Page’s/Jones’ melody has been an immortalized masterpiece that has been enjoyed by myself at 23, and many to come after me. I truly hope Led Zeppelin knows how much they mean to everyone.
When Heart toured in '12 with The Bonham Experience I saw them live. Heart did this as the encore, full orchestra and choir and Jason on drums. Bringing the house down doesn't even begin to describe how absolutely incredible their rendition of Stairway was. Unforgettable.
Saw them with Def Leppard in 2011 and they opened with "Rock And Roll" and played "Battle of Evermore" during their encore. Don't know if they always played a lot of Zeppelin in their shows or that was the seeds of what you saw and then we saw in the KCH show.
I can still remember like it was last night when I introduced my 3 children to Led Zeppelin while waiting for Mom in a parking lot in Seattle. They were 5, 10 & 14 and they were all into pop music... When I told them, "do you want to hear the music dad grew up with"? All three said "YES"! So I cranked it up and they were shocked and amazed at how powerful and almost embarrassing their pop music was compared to LZ. To this day, now 23 years later they remind me how their thinking of music changed that day.
I never ever listened to LED ZEPPELIN, even though I’m only a couple years younger than Robert Plant. It just wasn’t my kind of music. In the last few years I kept hearing what a great classic “Stairway to Heaven” is, so I finally listened to it. I still wasn’t thrilled, but I listened a few more times and began to like it. Then I watched this performance and it was the light switch. Since then I have studied this group and listened to all their major hits. I still can’t say I like everything , but I can say I have great respect for these guys, and their talent. Yet I find myself watching this performance over and over again, I think to see the reaction and realization the men have as to the impact they have made. And yes, it brings a tear to my eyes each time as Robert sheds a tear for the past. At this age most of us long for days when we were young, and foolishly thought we would live forever.

Classic sound, style and appeal. It was a different time. We had some really cool bands and Led Zeppelin ruled the world. Robert Plant’s voice is like no other. Jimmy Paige’s mastery on the guitar - incomparable. I am 69 years old and still a huge fan. Forever.

They did a live album in Seattle in 2008 (I think?) that had an extraordinary cover of the Battle of Evermore. Who covers that song? Who can do it justice? Heart can.

@@23wiski Go look it up ! Plant talks about it. For one Jason Bonham wasn't suppose to play. And it was kept from the Plant and the band that he was. And seeing Jason after a long time meant a lot. Plant also realized the impact their music had, and that it wasn't lost on them, after all those years. Do some research, Plant talks about it in depth !

As a black man, I am used to catching grief for loving rock music. Actually, I love and cherish many genres of music. My only requirement is that it touch and strengthen my soul. I grew up on Motown, TSOP, and rhythm & blues. Any time I heard sound that stuck with me, I wanted to know who did it and where it came from. This led me to blues, gospel, and rock at a time when I sought and needed support and direction, and I got it! Eventually, I got picky about pop, found great country music beyond "Hee Haw", and decided that my cd collection REALLY needed some Duke Ellington, so I found my way into the world of jazz. I even eased up on my 30-year allergy to disco music, and have found some rap that I can relate to and enjoy. In music appreciation, I am on a journey that, hopefully, won't end soon. But when the Kennedy Center chose to honor Led Zeppelin, I was skeptical. Could they do the music justice? Foo Fighters, Kid Rock, and Lenny Kravitz showed their love and respect for the music and for Misters Plant, Page, Jones, and Bonham. It is a pleasure to watch it again and again. But when the Wilson sisters walked out, along with Jason Bonham (wearing his daddy's derby!), and managed to stress test the building, accompanied by a classical string ensemble AND a gospel choir, by performing AT LEAST one of the best live performances of "Stairway to Heaven" EVER, I had to say something because they ended up making me smile😊😊❤❤. I apologize for this being wordy, but when folks of many shapes, colors, cultures, and genres get together to punch a hole in the sky, it is good to know that I will be just one of millions that will replay this video many times. Lord have mercy, what a night!🙏🏽🙏🏽👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

@lisascorp I got into rock music in 1979. First time I heard "Dream On," Aerosmith had my attention. When Misters Tyler and Perry worked with Run DMC, I was stunned how well it worked. It also brought rap into the mainstream. I saw Run DMC live two nights running. They were good.
It brought tears to my eyes when Jason Bonham looked up in the sky at the end of "Stairway to Heaven". His Pops looking down and said, "Very well played my son"

Yes what a great studio band. Got to see them in 76 the following week Pink Floyd. David Gilmore another great guitar player. The best. I'm 65 got to see a ton of great bands my favorite live act was the Stones in 1972 3 hrs of rip the walls down. The songs they played from the albums let it bleed to Its only l . Half of rock and rollernever heard their greatest hits. They were never played on the raido.Mick Taylor was probably my favorite guitar player. Clapton I saw overrated.

That always does the same for me. I think I associate a choir (gospel or pop) with a celebration of a life that has passed, like sending thanks and joy up to the departed soul or something, letting him know we'll be ok, and opening a door for all of us to let some of our grief to fly away. Wearing the bowlers with Bonzo's son leaves no doubt about who's life they were celebrating. That's how I feel it anyway.
After hearing the announcement of Ann Wilson's cancer diagnosis, I came to listen to this again. Most powerful performance, beautiful. I am such a fan of both Heart and Led. Prayers that Ann will recovery and sing on. Music will live on forever...

No rock band comes close to Led Zeppelin. My wife called me from Texas as I was working in Denver to give me word this was being broadcasted that evening. I thought this would be good. It was out of this World good. I grew up with Led Zeppelin in the 1970's. I have all 9 albums on vinyl to this day in 2023. My 43 year old daughter was raised to love Led Zeppelin and my son too. I made sure they knew the importance of this music. I do believe in 100 years the folks of that time will be jamming to this music. Over 40 years have passed since John Bonham's death. Google best rock drummer ever and John Bonham's name is at the top of the list. Simply incredible production with Ann and Nancy closing the tribute. I still watch this with a tear.

Robert was moved by Heart's performance, but it was memories of John Bonham, his best friend, that brought tears. Jason starts Stairway wearing a Bowler hat like his father but it's the moment that a 2nd choir comes into view, all wearing Bowlers - it hit Robert in the chest, you can see it.

Make that 2024. Only one that I did not care for was Kid Rock(he is OK in his own lane but not for the Zep). Heart plus Jason was perfect, Grohl was great on drums, sorry to Taylor(RIP) but not the best vocals and Lenny was great vocals. I think he should have sang with FF and instead of Kid Rock, doing all three partial songs.

One thing that stands out, and I'm old enough to have seen Robert Plant live in the early 80's when his voice was still at it's best, you will get a greater appreciation of his vocal range and just what a good lead singer he was.

Having Heart do Stairway to Heaven was a stroke of genius! No one could cover that other than Ann Wilson. This is a masterclass in how to cover a song and do it right! What a tribute!!!
I agree totally. It makes sense though. As I understand, Heart was originally a Led Zeppelin tribute band in Seattle. I think they always did LZ songs in their later sets. In any case, they were extremely talented and massive fans of LZ. Ann & Nancy deserved that place of honor, doing Stairway for the band. No pressure though...

I’ve been drumming for 47 years spent 20 years paying professionally all over the world and look on Robert Plant’s face with the emotion that he showed while Ann and Nancy were heart. We’re doing stairway to heaven. There’s no money in the world that can make you connect with people, and any musician in the world doesn’t need any kind of accolade except for respect… for being good at craft… Led Zeppelin didn’t just make a footprint. They smashed into the rock ‘n’ roll world with such that they will ever end forever always will be immortalized as one of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll bands in history, hands-down.!!!!!

(Another performance not rock in roll by no means is Adam Lambert when he honored Cher at her KCH with the song Believe he sang that song beautifully so much so that the tears were streaming down Cher's face before he was done and she hoped up so fast to applaud his performance, that one is right at the top for a non-Rock in Roll cover, sorry don't remember when she was inducted) Check it out!

I've watched the Stairway to Heaven tribute by Heart so many times and it's still so awesome and its almost 2024 in a few days. But the guy who impressed me was the lead guitarist he was just too smooth... I had to find out who he was and found out his name is Shane Fontayne he deserves accolades as well.. lets be honest this was the best cover of Stairway to Heaven and anybody that had anything to do with this performance needs to get an award.
Shane has played with Springsteen and Marc Cohn and is always the 'house' guitarist for this event.

I bet he is thinking back to the life gone by and the times they had , how most of the good stuff is past . Its hard to get old and realize the best is in the past . and dont give me this stuff about how in your 60's and 70's you have a lot to live for. Its all in the rear view mirror. With all the craziness of today , I long for the good ole days of rock and roll.

i give huge props to the sound man. can you imagine mixing the orchestra, backup singers, instruments, the lead singer ? night mare but he pulled it off flawlessly
I don't know anything about that but it sounds like you know what you're talking about and looking at it from your perspective I can see how might be challenging. They must've practiced a lot, not only to have a good performance but for the sound people too to get the mix right.
That’s what professionals do. Many years. And many, many pros in different areas. Many, like a lot. Kennedy Center has the loot.
I'm sure they rehearsed it, but they surely remixed it in post, meaning we hear a more careful and deliberate mix than the live audience heard. They had 24 days to work on post-production before this edited broadcast. I suspect they probably played the full versions of these songs live and edited them down for broadcast length, which is a bit of a sad thought, but it's how TV works. We got the good mix, but the live audience got the whole songs. I know, I'm speculating some, but there are edits that come across a bit clunky. It's all good. I still get super-emotional when I watch this. It's a solid collection of masterpieces performed by great ensembles of virtuosos who did a lot more than expert production and engineering work. IMO, there was a hugely uplifting theme about life in this whole tribute.

Hate isn’t the right word. He has said the lyrics came from a 23 year old guy that he doesn’t connect with anymore. Nor did he feel that stairway was the song that adequately captured the true essence of the band. He certainly acknowledges and has some form of love for it knowing what it means to all of us as fans. I’m sure hearing it everywhere all the time was possibly triggering for him due to how much pain he endured during the mid to later years of the band.
Never would have imagined that Heart would be the show stopper in this tribute, but they really hit it out of the park 👏

I as a BLACK Man just watched this for the first time and it literally brought tears too my eyes - I remember as a child over 60 + yrs ago living in a small town in West Virginia were racism was as blatant as the sun rising and falling - Rock music for blacks was considered "Evil & Satanic" - But I remember STILL listening too some of it and absolutely feeling the power of it all .I loved Queen , Heart ,Chicago, Led Z , and many more - Music is mostly immune to race or the evils of bigotry to the average human ears , with ALL the evilness, RACISM, hipppocracy ,and hate for EVERYONE in this nation I just wish that Music [ Of ALL sorts ] could unite us ... Am I the only one that cried through this whole show? It pulled at my heartstrings....and gave me such a joyous feeling at the same time. This was GREAT!!! And emotional for an old music lover like me.

Yeah it got me too... Seeing countless rock musicians paying their respects to the ultimate rock God's. I mean cmon... How many musicians pick up their first guitar and don't try to ply a zeppelin song? Zero. How many of those artists wouldn't be up there if they weren't inspired by Led Zeppelin. Also seeing Taylor Hawkins trade places with Dave grohl was a tribute in itself.

Honestly, I agree with you. Lenny Kravitz was alright but, I would have had Anne and Nancy with Jason do the entire music performance.
When I was a teenager listening to these guys, yeah, they were great, but the appreciation level was not what it is now that I'm older. They were such masters at what they did, and you get filled up by listening to just how great they were. The boomer generation produced such a breadth of great, great music; not that great music didn't exist before Zeppelin, but the sheer breadth of what we got to listen to is beyond words. Think about it, and appreciate what we had.
I agree 100%. Class of ‘82. My local rock station played Led Zeppelin often. I grew up on this. I say I Loved it then, but my appreciation for these Greats is so much more now that I’m older. Rock On! 👍

As a 53 yrs old singer of Rock…. Who has since stopped…. Singers …. Our natural gift are vocal chords…. We cannot go to a store and replace that string or another. If you notice… Robert Plant is crying subtly throughout Stairway…. His eyes are heavy probably for many reasons… but as a singer I can express for a fact he has heavy tears because it’s his song and in his life his vocals were part of The Hammer of the Gods…. It is a unique and very personal fragile relationship that all singers have. We cannot buy another set of strings to sound the same. Love to all from Montreal, Canada.

I would love to have seen the stage in whole, especially during those transitions, just overall more in general. As overwhelmed as we were watching it on TV, being able to see the whole stage would have been 10x’s more emotional.

Not 1 dislike. The world remembers and will never forget the greatest music ever made. I'm a grandmother driving around blasting 80's rock in my car. My grandsons listen to this music now. Have to pass it on!

I remember watching this live in 2012. I was already a Led Zeppelin fan, and in 2012 I was 23 years old - ironically the same age Robert Plant wrote Stairway to Heaven. He no longer identifies with that song, and said it’s a song from that era and should be left as such. I understand this to an extent but I think what’s lost on him is that song he wrote at 23 by just tossing lyrics to Page’s/Jones’ melody has been an immortalized masterpiece that has been enjoyed by myself at 23, and many to come after me.
I truly hope Led Zeppelin knows how much they mean to everyone.
When Heart toured in '12 with The Bonham Experience I saw them live. Heart did this as the encore, full orchestra and choir and Jason on drums. Bringing the house down doesn't even begin to describe how absolutely incredible their rendition of Stairway was. Unforgettable.
Saw them with Def Leppard in 2011 and they opened with "Rock And Roll" and played "Battle of Evermore" during their encore. Don't know if they always played a lot of Zeppelin in their shows or that was the seeds of what you saw and then we saw in the KCH show.
No Rock band will ever be as great as Led Zeppelin.
The look on the Led Zeppelin (original) faces shows exactly how much they appreciate this.
I can still remember like it was last night when I introduced my 3 children to Led Zeppelin while waiting for Mom in a parking lot in Seattle. They were 5, 10 & 14 and they were all into pop music... When I told them, "do you want to hear the music dad grew up with"? All three said "YES"! So I cranked it up and they were shocked and amazed at how powerful and almost embarrassing their pop music was compared to LZ. To this day, now 23 years later they remind me how their thinking of music changed that day.
Can't stop watching the entire video. I get teary-eyed every time. Tribute filled with so much emotion.

I never ever listened to LED ZEPPELIN, even though I’m only a couple years younger than Robert Plant. It just wasn’t my kind of music. In the last few years I kept hearing what a great classic “Stairway to Heaven” is, so I finally listened to it. I still wasn’t thrilled, but I listened a few more times and began to like it. Then I watched this performance and it was the light switch. Since then I have studied this group and listened to all their major hits. I still can’t say I like everything , but I can say I have great respect for these guys, and their talent. Yet I find myself watching this performance over and over again, I think to see the reaction and realization the men have as to the impact they have made. And yes, it brings a tear to my eyes each time as Robert sheds a tear for the past. At this age most of us long for days when we were young, and foolishly thought we would live forever.
It's been a while since I watched my own upload and I still cried. I thought I wouldn't this time.
Covering Led Zeppelin well is super difficult, but all these musicians have what it takes and the courage to do it in front of the guys, madness.

In all fairness to the other musicians on stage, they were part of the whole that made it great too.
Classic sound, style and appeal. It was a different time. We had some really cool bands and Led Zeppelin ruled the world. Robert Plant’s voice is like no other. Jimmy Paige’s mastery on the guitar - incomparable. I am 69 years old and still a huge fan. Forever.
This, Heart, is one of the absolute best tributes to a stone cold classic band. And what a powerful tribute.
