Starting on 650cc is a bit aggressive, but if you start on one, CB650R is probably the best one to do it on, as the full HP output is locked up-top. And if you take it easy as a beginner and mostly deal with 40-50hp under 6000rpm, then as you build confidence, you can start tapping into full power in higher rpms.

I have the 2023 model and love it. Everything you say here is accurate. This bike is about as “beginner friendly” as a 95+ horsepower bike can be - it isn’t going to “jump off the line” at an intersection due to the low torque numbers at the bottom. But mine is unrestricted and it will fly for a street bike (not a supersport but will hit 150 mph) so it’s great at highway speeds. This puts it in the unique position as serving as a “long term” bike if you’re a daily rider like me as well as being okay to start IF YOU’RE MATURE in your decisions as a rider.

    • @AkaiCBR
      @AkaiCBR  7 месяцев назад +1

Yep, the restricted and unrestricted versions are both very comfortable and low risk - just to clarify, mine is unrestricted. Thank you for your comment 🙏

The CBR650R is the perfect all-rounder: ample power, fuel-efficient, sporty but not overly so. It has everything you will ever need. I had one last year and I loved it. Unfortunately, I sold the bike a couple of months ago because I thought I needed an upgrade. So I bought the S1000RR. I love this bike as well, but if I'm honest, it's a little bit too much. The CBR650R is just the sweet spot. I miss it a lot. I'm considering trading again. :D

Yes most definitely, best confidence booster and path to a bigger bike later. I just purchased one with E Clutch have to say I love it, been on bikes 40 years plus, it’s lots of fun, admittedly makes me lazy as not using the clutch, I do pull it by accident once in a while but got out the habit quickly. I nearly kill myself when I go on my other bike within the first few seconds but get back into it quickly feathering etc lol.
I would advise new riders don’t go too big, you’ll be scared off and it won’t be enjoyable, some can adapt no problem but this is where accidents start happen. They extort new riders on bigger bikes, go for the 650, build up the discounts, it’s worth it.
Get more road craft with a more management bike first, it’s worth it in the long run and when ready go up to a litre plus if so. Sad thing is now, there are strict speed limits, cameras, idiotic and more dangerous drivers on the roads now.
Stay safe, and enjoy the CBR650 if you get one with or without E Clutch.

I’m not so sure I’d agree on the “touring” part there. Unless you’re ok with being restricted to soft luggage and much less capacity than a slightly larger machine.
The Tracer 7/9 make for good tourers but obviously aren’t as sporty. The Ninja 1000SX is more dedicated to chewing through the miles but it’s a powerful machine unto itself, it just has the option of great hard luggage.
If the back end was slightly more accommodating for luggage I’d be inclined to agree, but it definitely has its limitations for long distance riding in my opinion.

Im 40 yo, located in South East Asia, where traffic is crazy, literally crazy tbh. I rode a few low-cc bikes (125-150) since I knew how to ride (around 16yo), then I jumped straight to 1000cc in 2015 with a 2011 Z1000, yep, crazy I know.
Sold it to a friend due to not having time to ride, I mean, short/med trips (~2/300 kms). Riding high cc nakeds and super sport in city is torturing. It fries your balls in summer, red light stops (jk), left hand was like numbing after an hour of traffic jam, balls hurt too (jk). So I decided to just quit riding high cc bike at 2016. Im still using a 150cc scooter for daily commuting.
Then back in 2019, a got gifted a Ducati Monster 693 from a friend, who doesn't ride, he quits too but hoped that I could take care of his Monster. I gladly accepted the gift, very nice sounding LTwins with Akapovich, but my nuts told me NO (lol). It's just too hot to endure more than 1 hour of riding, its air-cooled btw. I couldnt even bear to ride it in summer where its constantly on 38-40,C outside, so after a year or two the Ducati is now sit in my garrage, dead battery, and rotten chain.
I have no idea why suddenly a new 2024 cbr650r ad got my attention for the e-clutch. Im now very interested in gettin one. I searched around yt, found your vid and others, but no one mentioned how hot/comfortable the engine is under your seat after a medium trip.

I using my CBR650R only on Track for Racing.
I have all different Sprokets for Front and Rear and most i use the Frontsproket 16Z.
But you must know, the ECU calculate the Speed with the Crank rpm and the Transmission, if you change a Sproket, the Dashboard will show you not the real Speed.
A smaller Frontsproket and a bigger Rearsproket will show you a higher Speed and a bigger Frontsproket a lower Speed.
For me on a Track, that is no Problem but if you will use the Bike on a Speedrestricted Highway, you must control and calculate this.
