Thank u so much for this explanation. I am a total beginner and I know absolutely nothing about this. But I like like painting pictures and I would like to start with something easy and work my way up. There are so many products out there and it can be confusing to know where to start. So this is perfect for me.
Omg this was such a teachable tutorial. I just bought 4 little canvas & I wasn't sure what to put on my canvases b4 I actually stencil it..!! I'm gonna go with the Gesso. I used it before just never stenciled on it..!! This was truly helpful. Thanks so much..🙂🙂
Wish I would have watched this before I tried to do it myself!! That's okay, only ruined one canvas. Definitely will use the acrylic paint method on the next go around. Thanks for the great video!
You make it look so easy . But my question is can you do a video using a regular non adhesive stencil and maybe give some tips and tricks on how not to let the paint leak under the surface of the stencil. Cause i have an extra large stencil for my 36 by 36 inch canvas and I have tried ma couple of different methods and all have failed i even tried the so called spray adhesive made just for stencils.. believe me if i could get a adhesive stencil in the size and design i would have done that a long time ago. So i hope you get a chance to read this and maybe give me some tips or a hack that would help me out tremendously or maybe you already made a video about that topic if so please point 👉🏼 me in the right direction ⬆️↗️➡️↘️⬇️↙️⬅️↖️↕️↔️😄LOL!!!.
It's definitely harder without an adhesive stencil, you've learned that 😀 I would make sure you have something firm under your canvas so the fabric doesn't bow when you are painting. I have used stenciling adhesive or basting spray for quilting (a temporary adhesive) to help hold them in place. Then just use very very little paint and do a couple of coats. Best of luck with your project!
wondering if i can use clear gesso as a temporary stencil. i use temporay stencils if i airbrush over the stencil or underit will it stop paint bleed on canvas??? please advise
@@SarahVanderkooy sorry one more promise I have several set up all ready that are primed and stencils are on them and weeded do you think i could spray the gesso over top to seal and be able to remove when completed??
Thank you for this. I have blank canvases, stencils and paints ready to go and suddenly worried about how best to put them on. Now I know!
So glad this helped! Enjoy your project.
Great demonstration! I’m a beginner who will be using paint.😊
Thank you so much for this valuable information ❤
I'm brand new to this and this helped a lot. Thank you.

Thank you so much for showing this.
Very helpful. Thank you 😊
Thank you , it was nice and simple. I do like using gesso on canvas then sand it a little ,it gives it a nice smooth look.
Thank you for this very informative tutorial video. 🌸
Thank you for your expertise 😊

I really enjoyed your video 😊 5:57

Thankyou
This is soo informative, thank you. Do you wait till the white acrylic paint dries before applying the stencil?
Yes wait until it dries and creates a non porous surface.

But, what about the ones with NO adhesive?? Can you use art tape??
You could try that, anything to get a good seal between the stencil and the canvas so the paint doesn't bleed.
Thank you! I was wondering if this method can work on a repurpose canvas?
Yes absolutely, you may need a few base coats to cover what is on the canvas but that will help your stenciled work come out really well.
Can u please tell where you bought the adhesive stencils?
Are they available on Amazon?
Available at Michael's?
Available at Hobby Lobby?
Those were an old find at Michael's. You can find similar ones at any craft store or on Amazon.
Okay. Thank u
O have regular stencils that do not have adhesive back. How to i ensure that they are completely attached to the canvas without creating gaps
You can try a temporary adhesive like basting spray amzn.to/3EPUMSf
This will help seal those gaps and removes cleanly.
I learned a lot thanks
Can you re use the stencils?
Yes. wipe off any excess paint then place them back on the carrier sheet. I have used these many times.
Good
Can we use any acrylic colour for the base to get best results?
Yes you can!
wondering if i can use clear gesso as a temporary stencil. i use temporay stencils if i airbrush over the stencil or underit will it stop paint bleed on canvas??? please advise
I would think you can. You just want to coat the canvas so it's not porous, and clear gesso should do the trick.
@@SarahVanderkooy should i weed it first or after prob first while its still damp???
