Best video I've seen. Good detail, great technique, and good quality video. Not trying to sell me anything, no annoying music, and not showing me your pet.
Hi. Thanks for the tips. I haven’t an artistic bone in my 62 yr old body, but I do like to sew…I recently discovered stencils to embellish some of the bags I make. It’s been amazing to find I can do this! But any help I can get is most welcome. Cheers from England xxx
Great tutorial! I'll be stenciling two Adirondack chairs I painted a few weeks ago. I'll be using exterior acrylic paint so it won't be as thick. But I'll be mindful of dry brush (less is better) technique. All great points, learned a lot and I'm ready now to start my project. Let the stenciling begin!😊
That was really helpful! Thank you!! My first stencil came out like a blob, so I had to look up how to do it. I surely did all the mistakes I possibly could make....
Thanks for the helpful "how to" and "what not to do" pointers. I feel much better prepared now to have my first stenciling project be a successful one. Much appreciated!
Im a amateur artist that had the same idea...I follow you because you are inspiring!!! I hope and pray to have my own stencil business as well... just have to find my way...
Thanks so much, very important step 0 is use quality stencil 1 products not printed paper stencils. I’ve been doing this for years and really never thought not to use spray paint. Now I understand why my stencils are always so sloppy. Thanks again for the tips.

Thank you for clear, concise tips delivered without a bunch of mindless jabbering...😁 Now, I seem to always be trying to stencil PART of a vertical surface with stencils that are bigger than the area I want to stencil... So I'm thinking I need 5o practice the dry brush techniques... Layering, and maybe get the repositionable "spray" adhesive. I bought some adhesive for stencils that has a sponge -like applicator and that was a bit of a shyt show. Well, I guess I'm learning..😂😂😂 if I get better that is. Sigh. Good tips!
Great tips for stenciling! Thanks for sharing. What is the best way to clean the paint from your brushes, stencils and sponges before storing them? 🎨🖌️🤔❓

Good day, THANK YOU, the best about perfect stenciling I have seen. Do you have to prime raw wood before stenciling? I searched to find a video about stenciling with modeling paste but I didn't find, do you have one? If not, will you please consider doing one PLEASE? Thank you in advance for your effort, help and reply.
@@Amah-Lady it is not a must to prime Wood before you stencil it. It really just depends on how you want it to look. I do have some videos on modeling paste. Also referred to as molding paste.
Thank you for the tips! I def did everything wrong 🤣🤦🏾♀️ but now I'm on the right track! Great work! May GOD continue to bless you in JESUS name amen! 🙏🏾🙌🏾✝️
I currently use the stencil brushes. I saw a lady using makeup wedges! So I want to try that and see how it works! When I'm doing letters I noticed that I always have to have a fine tipped paint brush to smooth the edges out. Maybe I'm a little heavy handed when tapping my brush on the stencil? Anyways, Thank you for the video:-)
Thanks! I use makeup wedges when I use specialty inks and my stencils, nice even look. With pointy letter shapes go light on the paint and try swirling motion - practice to see best way, it will happen!
@@stencil1 Sometimes that actually can warp or melt even the most expensive stencils. I "schmurdered" a painting that I worked SO hard on.....even when at a distance on low heat.

Oh, I buy mini brands and I have seen that some brands. I truly liked have diminished in quality so I am not certain about a brand that is best, but do you want that brush to have a flat head and when you pull at the bristles they don’t come out, I also have noticed that the shorter the bristles are the better. I hope this helps.
I use a hair dryer to quickly dry layers in minutes! I don’t use MP - I use paint to stencil. I do use quality decoupage product for other collage art etc
If you used a low tack spray adhesive the best thing that breaks down that type of glue is an orange solvent some thing like goo gone or other orange cleaners
Thank you for the good advices! I would like to ask about modeling paste before you use the paint on the painting, you didn't do that, is the adhesive spray instead of using the paste?
I am not sure if I understand but to clarify, you can use a low tack adhesive spray to hold the stencil down while painting. Modeling paste on the other hand is something like plaster, and you can spread it over a stencil to create dimensional looks.
Oh, if you buy the right spray adhesive, it will not stick to any clothing or leave any residue. And to wash it off of the stencil is a little trickier, but sometimes orange oil cleaners will work.
I have tried many, we sell some good basic ones on our website Stencil1.com I like to feel brushes in the art stores for ones that don’t shed and are firm
Can I put a stencil on top of a dried but painted surface without damaging the already painted but fully dried objects if I spray the recommeneded glue on the stencil?
If the surface has dried for a few days it should be ok. The low tack spray adhesive is not that sticky. You must also be aware of taping the stencil with painters tape, sometimes tape can pull fresh paint off a wall so I always wait 4-5 days and test an area.
You can definitely use spray paint with our stencils! The only thing is they will be harder to clean but it is very fun to use spray paint with our stencils
