Love your videos and sports analogies. Three sport athlete and two sport college athlete…….but unfortunately NOT golf. Your sports analogies are very helpful!
Absolutely Excellent explanation of a proper swing for driver, it makes so much sense and I can see how that would prevent people from over the top and loss of speed and distance..can't wait to try this drill tomorrow morning, it's like a light went on..Thank you..
Haha it’s always a good morning when. Clay has a new video out! 108.8 is my fastest recorded swing (only recorded once) i tend to run into a lot of problems if my focus is on firing my hips. Hopefully these drills will allow me to get my max swing speed
Thanks for this Clay, I think it’s one of your most important instructions. And for my fellow handicappers, get this right and forever forget about coming over the top. Whether your preference is inside to inside or inside out, it’s pretty automatic with this move. And in my own swing, I’ve found that when this is done properly, your distance from the ball at impact doesn’t vary. Well done! Bill P
Clay is a great ball striker so a tip to his fans. I use the app Hudl technique that clay recommends and I screen shot his angles and practice to where my club body hips spine and release are identical to Clay’s. It’s not easy but when you are set up like he is you will get his results.. well his swing speed is ridiculous but the rest of it falls into place
Hi there, I tried this one without any expectation and it worked soooo well! With no need to focus on hands, angles etc., i just fired up 5 consistent shots with a feeling like taking part on Remax longest drive contest.. :-)) also, the speed and length of drive increased dramatically , as body rotantion was completed well. Definitelly recommend this drill! With me, hybrid Wood was the best one, with Driver I still struggle.. Some more workout is needed..
and that's why the old guys raised that lead foot. you can see them replant and lead with the hip rotation. its the same thing only more dynamic than leaving the foot on the ground.
it didn't look to me like there was much difference in the timing of the weight shift between that bad and good shot. maybe it was just too fast to catch, but it didn't look like shifting back to the left happened when the arms were parallel with the ground on the backswing. does it have more to do with timing it with the arms during the backswing and the time delay in thinking about it makes it happen a touch earlier?
Hi Joshua, it is pretty subtle. The key is getting your weight shifting toward the target during the last part of the backswing. If you wait until the downswing starts then it's usually too late. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
Thanks, I actually started doing this with my driver and noticed I had to loosen up a bit to do so. Once I did that I started hitting it straight about 270 yds consistently. Then, as a result, I accidentally started loosening up more on my pitching practicing and started nailing that consistently as well. I’m guessing I need to loosen up on all of my full swings.
What does it look like if your not exaggerating the movement? Sometimes it’s difficult to see what it really looks like to copy what is is reality...thanks
Lies... absolutely they go shorter they are designed to be crushed 1,000s of times over and over they are built to take a beating no optimal ball flight. If they were the same then titleist would be out of business. Golf balls do play a huge roll the biggest being the amount of spin you can apply. So a higher handicap player will probably be less accurate with a higher quality ball. Facts.
Of course. If they didn't, you could "buy" several dozen for about ten bucks. ;-) And you would probably see people on the range at night gathering them up. Also, the main criteria is that they take a beating, and they have thick covers which are made from a more durable plastic.
I need to get on a trackman and see if "jumping" actually does increases club head speed... especially when the back leg straightens like Lexi and Mclroy. Does it actually increase speed? Not so sure, other wise everyone would be doing it. The search continues...
I recently purchased a Swing Caddie 200 and these drills worked for me. I picked up 7-8 miles an hour club head speed with my driver which is 15+ yards more carry. That is one to two less clubs on my approach shots:)!! I love the SC2 and use it all the time on range when practicing.

If you're over-doing it then just ease off the feeling.
Clay has definitely bulked up this season!!
Bulk up or shut up.
do range balls go shorter distance

Geronimo McDuggins, smh
They go longer
