I have watched a lot of videos online from a variety off coaches and I have never seen this mentioned. I have to agree the setup is very important and you have hit the nail on the head. The slightest adjustments can change the swing and have a person hitting inconsistently. Excellent advice and I will certainly be focusing in on my set up position and developing a routine that gives me the best opportunity to hit the ball flush. Thanks.
I took this lesson to the course the last two days and I've been striking the ball better and more consistently. My iron strikes are much more toward the target and compressed. Thank you.
Great video and advice! I see a lot of guys reaching for the ball. Not too many stand too close, but you can pick 'em out easy cuz they always looked jammed up
100% major issue stance from the ball! 🎉 Try extremes at the range ... I did & what a giant ah ha moment. Big. Hardly ever mentioned by instructors; so congratulations. Thank you.
Gonna have the rare disagree on waggle! I set up based on club similar to what you’ve described. Then I pick up the club and do the waggle to get into a supple wrist feel. Then 2 taps behind the ball then swing with no thoughts. I will agree on a setup and a pre shot routine. It’s important to do it with every shot. My waggle loosens my wrists, my double tap is the signal to my brain to shut off NO MORE THINKING lol.
Wow, thanks Pro! While searching for the reason for the repeated toe strike, I believe you found it for me! In your opinion would this also explain mostly pull hook from toe strike? Finding that balance in distance as you said looks like you almost lined up single plane style??
Ala jack N when your at address and your lead hand is in the club , if your have to adjust your trail hand closer ir farther away your ,reaching or stretching etc , he said your trail hand should fall right in place, I understand the concept and have noticed it affects the ahoulders and weight shift and balance etc . The games changed alot but im not sure about setups etc , you can see some pros setup so strong compared to others and they make it work
There's a linked element to this which is how the arms connect to the body. My pro said if I maintained shaft lean from set-up to impact it would be impossible to hit behind the ball, but it's not if your arms disconnect and get closer or further away from body (in this case closer). That for me is one of the biggest killers of consistency.
Rotation of the spine from hip to neck is the key. Most don't do this more, rather they sway the chain of bones of the spine. This swaying of the spine can not generate the compression desired, but the rotation of the shoulders centered around the spine absolutely can.
The routine you suggest to find the right distance from the ball is important. But once you’re correctly set with your feet, the wrist waggle doesn’t change your radius and doesn’t affect your ball striking.
You never should sole the club flat on the ground at address. During the downswing, the shaft of the club flexes in two distinct directions, the shaft bows which forces the toe of the club down and the shaft flexes backwards. Sole the club flat on the ground at address and you will create toe deep divots and the shot result will be straight pushes. The toe of the club should be slightly toe up at address to compensate for the bowing of the shaft during the downswing.
This may be true but the point of the advice here is to find a way to ensure consistency of set up. If that is the reason to put the club flat on the ground at setup then doing so makes sense.
Actually the biggest reason why not to have the sole flat at address, is that just about everybody's hands at impact are higher than the were at address. There are very very few PGA tour players, that have there hands in the same position at impact as they were at address, 99% have higher hands at impact, making the shaft steeper I do disagree about the waggle, it is important because you don't want o be frozen over the ball, you want to be in constant motion before you take the club away, it helps make a smoother takeway and better ryhthm .

Glad this helped you identify a key element in your swing! Let us know how it goes 💪

What did you ask the ball?
@@mrgerrytube I meant striking. Thank you for pointing out my mistake.
But what was the answer?

It's amazing how that subtle difference can have such a big impact on the swing!

Exactly what I needed to hear and apply to my swing!! Thanks!!
Glad this helped! Keep practicing!

It’s individual of course.. just more of a suggestion for those who fidget too much
@ sending your video to Sergio!
Yea I’ll listen to Hogan and keep my waggle lol.
Thanks for the advice will try. Where are you based in would love to have lessons with you.
If you don't mind me asking what irons do you have in this video? TY
thanks again for this video. would you tell me what kind of grip model you use ?

I can't wait to try this out. Thank you. I wish I could like the video more than once.

That's a great observation - it's all about finding your perfect balance point!
So simple and logical. Thanks
When i set up close to the ball, i almost always have a heel biased strike and more hosel strikes. What do you think is causing this?

He’s indeed. Just be wary of being too clamped in

You're welcome! Hope it helps you improve.🏌🏽
Those Avoda irons look rather nice👀👍🍻
Other channels mention shaft bending?,
En clair copions scottie ☺️
don't put the driver down there is no benefit you already have consistence thanks coach 🤯🤗

Tell that to the pros and they will laugh you off the planet
I'm about to try this with my irons at the range right now
No more waggles 🎉
Grip it and rip it! Easy
Too far away? Tell that to Moe Norman and Todd Graves.
simple golf, make it a simple video, waffling for 4 mins and I'm giving up.
@@krusher74 if 4 minutes is too long for you, that’s fine. A golf lesson that will improve your entire game and that’s too long, fine.
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf Appreciate your clips
Maybe crusher should spend more time practicing instead of moaning
Cheers ... thank you
My swing had lost its way. This transformed it. Thank you so much.
Stop waggeling ... no way Sir.
