Great video, only wished accessibility for screen reader support was in there. That's where Ableton have shined for me and I'm sure they will be gaining a whole new market share. Perhaps the new Reason browser and sequencer will have some screen reader support, as v12 has less screen reader support than previous versions.
To be honest, that’s an area we could all do better in as far as software support. Nobody thinks they need to support it until they suddenly realize that they needed themselves. All of a sudden these companies realize that it’s a situation that they could’ve been resolving all along. I 100% agree with you. Everyone in Southwood development you really need to do better at this type of thing because, it’s complete vision loss, partial vision, loss, or just degraded vision overtime, I can tell you right now. There were a lot of things that I look at today that I used to be able to read that I can’t really see that well anymore because of my vision changes, I’ve been wearing glasses since I was a child and I can’t see a damn thing without them. Not legally blind, but bad enough that it’s made me think man I really need to do better in my job as a web developer for people who do have real vision problems. It’s not cool to ignore it.
it would have been so cool, if they made the Reason Mixer Black and changed the curves and tone over to an SSL 4000 E and added a 5 Band Stereo EQ and Tape Machine on the Way out before the Audio goes to the G Comp Compressor, at that Point youd be able to master on the Mixer itself...you would get Compression, Saturation and Full Perimetric EQ on the Stereo Signal going to the Out channel
Oh yeah, I'm definitely upgrading from 12 to 13 perpetually. I have many DAW's and keep coming to Reason. Can't wait for the new flow and features Reason offers.
interesting - well maybe the changes will make yoou happy?? Do you use it as a plugin? I use it with cubase as a plugin - i really like building combinators and experimenting with sound design...
@Cap10NRGMusic I use the RRP (still on R11) in Bitwig. And most likely we'll never find out, since, as of now, despite a full time job, I can't afford it no matter what (not complaining here).
I'm upgrading on day one! 13 is basically taking care of the last few things I've been asking for. The sequencer has needed an update for the longest time and the separate edit window with all the tools on the left is exactly what it needed. This going to make producing in what was always the creative DAW also the fastest for me. I've used Cubase and Studio one for years as well but Reason is where I make the most music.
I will be getting it day one mainly because I have a Reason 12 License and a Reason+ sub. I mean $200 ($199 you know rounded up) is a lot and the plugins… I already have most of those areas covered - so for me it’s just the sequencer and seeing what they do to it. I will definitely be upgrading at the next “Reason Sale” which should save between $60 and $100. But I have Reason+ to carry me over ;) . Hey don’t forget to sub! I’ll be reviewing this day one!
Hey man, it wasn’t specifically you. They were other people too. For a little bit I thought they weren’t gonna release it. Ryan seem to kind of indicate that they weren’t as well. I thought maybe 12 would be the last one and it would be… Reason from here on and just little patches little patches little patches, making it better and better as it went along, I am wicked excited for 13
@@Cap10NRGMusic I am relieved to a certain extent that there is a 13 because I would not of been surprised if 12 was the last. Come and see what I said in My vid about it.
I’ll have to watch it again. I must’ve missed that part a lot of times I listen to videos while I work, but I absolutely did watch the video/listen to the video. I always listen to your videos dude you do a good job. I find you entertaining also lol. When you make comments like the drums are slapping hard and the piano is giving me emotional vibes I chuckled a little bit. It’s funny because you remind me of a friend of mine from my 20s he was a film student who loved British comedy and had that same kind of “delivery” as you do in your videos. But that’s another story front of the day I guess lol.
Really hope they have some kind of folder track(like cubase) a better, easier to read, way of labelling clips would be a plus as well (or a Chord track) helps with composing/arranging. thanks for your channel.
I just hope they fix Mimic. I have to use Momentum to get .wav loops to match tempos. Would be nice to be able to tag instruments and effects. If this is a mostly housekeeping release covering the last 10 years of user issues that would be swell. After all VSTs are pretty much giving people the sounds they need. I just see what FL Studio folks get for free with updates and wonder sometimes about Reasons offerings. Most companies do the whole complete song demo which doesn't make sense. People want to hear the isolated synth doing what it does. Hope Ripley is like Effectrix 2.
I agree on the housekeeping comment. I just heard that about FLStudio! Free Upgrades WHAT?? I mean dam - but I just don’t vibe with it. I do use CUBASE as well as Reason, and Steinberg updates are typically significant - big things and a lot of them and still like $99 to buy the update so it is a little weird that Reason has been taking what I feel might be a small step forward ( it I won’t know until I see it). As far as Mimic - can you go into some detail of what you’re having issue with there? I haven’t noticed any issues with it and would like to try to help you out if I can… oh and yeah I know most companies build these complex demos of their synths - and I really wish they would just let you hear them standalone as welll. I think the best way to do these demos is - make the song and allow the user to drop out everything but the featured device (and the instrument it’s being used on in the case that the device is an effect). That way you get the naked sound of it and ways to utilize it in a track. But hey that’s just me 😉. But hey, don’t forget to sub - I’ll be showing this on the first day it’s out so hopefully we’ll have answers!
@@Cap10NRGMusic I use the VST momentum to load up wal loops and playthem at the tempo my track is at. Like dr rex. Only I don't have to do anything but load the .wav, select slices then hit a key and the loop plays in sync with my music. I thought mimic would be able to do this since this is Reason Studios and they invented the rex format but it seems Mimic won't match tempos which is a downer just because mimin is a lot easier to use than Momentum. I mean DJ software has been doing this on the fly since ipphones were invented 😁. But I know Reason Studios, once they make something that's pretty much it. Ususally you can find RUclipsrs who will do no talking synth patch playing, once the device comes out. These companies just don't get it. Never will. From what I understand Reason 13's update price for folks like me who do not do subscriptions is $199usd, which is ridiculous of course, even if they fixed mimic I can't do that unless they have one of their reality sales like they didi with the upgrade to 12 (like 75% off at one point). BUt these other DAWs really go all out with these numbered upgrades so I think Reason Studios will have to show a lot more to convince folks who know about stuff like FLStudio's free updates to move to 13. Who doesn't have monster VST synths by now? Subscribing.
These small changes seems good and helpful for me but what have they done all the years. As it is now (lets see if there is more features to it) it is not worth a upgrade for this price. Its what I would expect in minor updates over the past years. The browser is literally a bugfix for the old browser being slow and sluggish. Its not the first time they changed it in the past and it turned out not really for the better. The tag system is new and I like it. The toolbar has been integrated in the UI which is nice but with the split seq view just a UI tweak. New patches and Instruments are always nice for the portfolio. I always liked that RS was a little bit conservative with changing to much to fast but I also feel that so many community wishes/additions for the platform are not considered. I will wait until it releases and see if there are more things not covered now but as of now I would not upgrade and wait longer
Yeah for what they’re offering in the upgrade it might not be the first one to don’t jump on. I have a Reason+ sub too thought ($99 per year sale price which I use to try new REs and get new sound packs) got it at Christmas- so I’ll try it and be able to review / demo it…

Hey there @mimikova390 haha - sorry if I missed that. I will absolutely be checking it out when I can actually “touch” it and let you know more then. But now you’ve got me wondering if it’s a true morph or crossfader. Hmm. Guess we’ll see when we get to play with it - please do sub if you haven’t I d appreciate it!!
@@Cap10NRGMusic I am subbed. if you look to the left of the fader. there are 3 modes. there are also easily assignable modulation sources for the morph. Strong polybrute vibes.
Not upgrading...as far as the new synth goes...I already have enough 3rd party synths that are way better imo...the delay....same. Plus I don't think ReasonStudios cares at all about those of us who own a perpetual license , they only care about people paying for a subscription.
Well I will say, I don’t think they see us as “their future” but they haven’t abandoned us either (not fully) I mean you can still buy a license and upgrade it. It’s not like they’re telling us - subscribe or you get nothing. We have one huge advantage over subbers- we can say no… we can sit back with our Reason 12 licenses and just say - I’ll see what you have to offer at version 14,15 or whatever as long as they maintain their and previous license upgrade policy. Even at $200 for the license - we technically still made out better than subscribers in 12. All the updates - we got them, they paid about $360 for what we got for $199 plus some sound packs and a few instruments (which as you mentioned there are other better options out there)… so there you have it! Do what’s right for you!! I’m going to get it to support the community (RUclips channel and all that, sacrificial lamb here lol) but I intend to keep 12 installed to support my Reason family on whatever levels I can.
Hey there @dj2bklyn / I hear what you’re saying man - this is definitely not a $200 upgrade imho but sadly it is what it used to be… I personally would advise folks to wait for Black Friday and save a few bucks, there’s nothing that says “version 13” to me… I mean 4 if these plugins don’t excite and the new synth is kind of “whatever” nothing special. Do all we are REALLY getting is some visual changes, a new sound indexing engine of sorts, and an updated sequencer… I’m getting it for the sake of answering questions and helping user but it has no real appeal to me after more research. Hoping to get the beta to see if there is any real value here…
Yeah, I have to agree the pump thing there. I actually purchased a plug-in that does that for a couple dollars like 10 years ago lol. Pretty much the sequencer and the new wave of indexing sounds are the big things so far that I can see.
You might be onto something. As I said in previous comments- my perpetual license is staying at 12 until I see big updates. I have a plus account that I will use to get 13 to make a few videos with but buying the prep license is gonna have to wait till Black Friday
Yeah, the more I think about it… The more I think I might just stick with 12 a while. Maybe when they do the $99 or $129 sale around Thanksgiving or something I’ll consider upgrading to it. But fortunately I suppose for the sake of the community, I have a reason plus subscription that I keep because it was only $99 at Christmas time and I use it to get the sound packs because I find some of them interesting. So I will be be able to use reason plus yippie Skippy lol. I just think with all the time they’ve had to do this next upgrade, and it’s been a while since the last upgrade ought to be than what they’re doing. The poly tone sounds nice, but whatever I have 1 million synthesizers, they probably sound as good or better. The three effects that they’re adding don’t really impress me much. I feel like they’re already in the rack already. Why are we adding these in some new? That’s great… The new indexing of sounds is nice but that’s a .5 upgrade in my opinion what we’re looking at here. I think this would have a lot more success if they drop the price back to what it used to be. I feel like 199 is pretty greedy for what they offer here. Anyway, subscribe to the channel if you haven’t because you’ll see it here whatever’s going on whether it’s life-changing or not lol. I got a Lofi 12 XT video coming up.
