Thank you for the split clips feature! That'll be really handy. Some day, can we pleeeeeease get audio scrubbing? For those of us who do a lot of audio editing, this is essential.
It would be great to add the following features to future versions: Automatic audio alignment (to synchronize vocals and choruses). Automatic creation of vocal harmonies.
I would like to be able to see any category of plugin in order from my favorite to my least favorite. I have a bunch of reverb plugins, for example, and would like to see the ones I actually use the most at the top first.
Hallelujah for the chop tools!!! 😀 It would also be great if the razor tool would switch to arrow automatically, like the other tools, when placed in the top meter area.
I would like the browser just to be fixed on the side again instead of floating. Or the option to make it floating or fixed like FL studio and other DAWs.
join clips end to end (remove gaps without fusing), been wishing for years for that. arrange clips feature someday? When you have hundreds of cuts spread over a long recording, this takes a lot of time and computing. It would also be awesome for bouncing clips to new recordings to have a margin control so that you could retain some lead around each clip while also clearing up excessive data in large projects.
Reason is such an amazing DAW. If they too can find a way to create a built-in easiest audio alignment tool like cubase and also create a dedicated vocal chain plugin. That would be really cool
Thank you, very good update. BUT: I really need a grouping option in the sequencer so that I can expand and collapse all drum tracks, for example. A lock function like in graphics programmes such as Photoshop would also be helpful, e.g. to avoid accidentally deleting bars, tracks or entire effect chains in an extensive arrangement. Also (and at least for me much more important): An (mp3) preview of the saved track in the browser. We all work with hundreds of sketches, which we then name in a reasonably recognisable / interpretable way (well ;) Being able to listen to a preview of the respective track in the browser would - at least for me - save a lot of time in the work process.
Any built-in way to quickly juggle the clips after doing that Chop Clips function at 9:04? It'd be rad to be able to test different breaks by just a couple key presses. 20 years ago, I used to have an old program called Amen (after the ubiquitous break) that was specifically for this function, and it was beautiful. It assigned colours to each chunk, and you could just click a chunk to change the playback colour and have it swap that piece to the corresponding colour and sound. It was so simple, but immensely functional for d&b style breaks.
@@f1rstp3rsonngaming96 That's song follow. Midi chase, from what I understand, lets long midi notes play even when you start the playhead in the middle of them.
@@F-Andre when you start playback in the middle of a long midi note it does not play back. The system must see a midi note on command. MIDI chase allows playback of long midi notes from anywhere along the note.
Love reason 13....in future updates can yall make "Open in Edit Area" with ghost notes within the piano roll. I usually have to get out of the piano roll to reselect the lanes to do this. Thanks Reason Studios and Ryan.
Hiiiiiighly appreciated! Thanks! Favorite + Custom Tags make working with R13 fun again, for all guys like me, not thinking in "patch logic" but "device logic".
One thing I'd still like to see would be automatic tagging for samples. There are external tools for this such as Waves Cosmos or Sononym, but I'd much rather have that functionality in Reason itself. I've built up quite the sample library over the years and having the option to filter them by sonic characteristics would massively help me make good use of that large library.
I bought Record mostly for the mixer page and, 14 years later, it is exactly the same in Reason 13. Wihen you look at what channel strip plugins can do these days, it's kind of sad to only have that one flavour for such a long time.
I bought Reason 6 mostly for its instruments and effects, but 14 years later, the MIDI editor still looks and works the same with very limited options! As a result, I only use the Reason Rack in Reaper.
Point releases are free, as long as you have version 13. They just had a sale, which is ending shortly for upgrades if you're on an older Reason version than that. For future reference it was $100 for the upgrade from any previous version in the "Season Of Reason" sale. If you missed that one, then just wait for it to be on sale again.
Upgraded to 13 to be able to use vst3. Now i stopped making music because the new browser didnt match my workflow. The tags for drumsloops in octorex dont work at all so i couldnt even make a quick loop to test the new features without searching for hours for a drumloop. Before i would just click which genre i want and select a loop to start making a melody on it and then make my own drums later on. Now i search for drums and loops and it gives me everything without letting me search for the old folder structure where i can find the sounds easily Also the new zoom and layout is very bad for my workflow. Since i cant zoom out of the piano roll i cant paint the velocity for a 4 bar loop easily. I would have to paint each note now. Worked with reason since version 6 so its actually very sad what you did there. Who thought that was a good idea?
Kudos for listening! Splitting and categories are great updates. But one thing, Ryan. If you read this. In v13.0 if you selected multiple clips in the arranger and pressed enter the edit area automatically zoomed into the selected items. That feature was removed in the next update. Why? This was such a handy feature. Now I have to manually zoom instead of just one keypress.
Hey Dougie - I did read this and I checked in with Mattias and Ludvig over in Stockholm. Looks like you discovered a bug where that stopped working properly. They're aware and are fixing it for a patch update. Thanks for letting me and then them know!
I commend Reason Studios for this latest round of solid features and i have no doubt new Reasoners will really benefit from them. For me there's only one area i want to see innovation, the rack. Im still on 12 because the sequencer and browser are absolutely perfect for me, and its the rack that sets it apart from all else. Please give me a legacy sequencer and browser option and I'll happily continue to support Reason and with it my own creative journey. Or at the very least just the browser. I have a list as long as my arm for combinator updates. Shortcut keys for zoom level and sequencer grid settings would be handy too.
When right clicking on something in the browser to assign a tag, can you guys please make it where that window stays open until we’re done tagging everything and having it go away when clicked outside? At 4:47
Once again, no ads before, during or after the video. Thank you, Reason Studios. Unlike 99 per cent of companies on RUclips, you’re only interested in selling your product: no ads for soap, insurance or automobiles to diminish your post. Can’t wait to get 13.1. The new browser looks amazing and the features added for players and effects implementation look great!
True I don't remember ever seeing ads on or around Reason video's. They must of chosen to not do ads in there setting so that there videos can play in playlist without being interrupted by ads, it also means they name no money from posting videos to youtube. They use RUclips for there products only.
@photoindra Well that is something they need for Mimic and any audio chaping on devices because its has a annoying click at the cut points tht I have to go in and edit a fade on each cut. When cutting in the sequencer it doesn't do that click at the cut points so there for I don't need auto face option for that. What do you need that feature for?

Hallelujah for the chop tools!!! 😀 It would also be great if the razor tool would switch to arrow automatically, like the other tools, when placed in the top meter area.
Video playback support for scoring when? :)
there is a cheap vst that you can use VidPlayVST
Also (and at least for me much more important):
An (mp3) preview of the saved track in the browser. We all work with hundreds of sketches, which we then name in a reasonably recognisable / interpretable way (well ;)
Being able to listen to a preview of the respective track in the browser would - at least for me - save a lot of time in the work process.
I was very disappointed about 13. Thank you for listening to the community! The Tags thing is awesome.
Okay... we making progress!!!!
Sweet! Never saw the velocity ramp.
Please make the browser dockable and give more love to the sequencer and pianoRoll.
That would be really great
Still no midi note chase?
Press F that will do that
@@f1rstp3rsonngaming96 That's not what MIDI chase does...
@@f1rstp3rsonngaming96 That's song follow. Midi chase, from what I understand, lets long midi notes play even when you start the playhead in the middle of them.
what does midi chase do?
@@F-Andre when you start playback in the middle of a long midi note it does not play back. The system must see a midi note on command. MIDI chase allows playback of long midi notes from anywhere along the note.
Love reason 13....in future updates can yall make "Open in Edit Area" with ghost notes within the piano roll. I usually have to get out of the piano roll to reselect the lanes to do this. Thanks Reason Studios and Ryan.
all tag options dope!
Hiiiiiighly appreciated! Thanks! Favorite + Custom Tags make working with R13 fun again, for all guys like me, not thinking in "patch logic" but "device logic".
Excellent.
That midi chop function will make creating a drum roll a snap now.
One thing I'd still like to see would be automatic tagging for samples. There are external tools for this such as Waves Cosmos or Sononym, but I'd much rather have that functionality in Reason itself. I've built up quite the sample library over the years and having the option to filter them by sonic characteristics would massively help me make good use of that large library.
i have a question but how do you stop Reasons from automatically fading in and out your beats and loops when exporting ?
Love it ❤
what section in the browser is the best place to drag refills?
Make a favorite list and drag it to there
@@dougroyce5784 i have done mate but it keeps dissapearing lol
Thank you!
Does Reason even have a UX team. I’d love to see the user testing data
It's finally possible to preview MIDI files with desired instrument (like in Cubase or Studio One) in the Reason Browser?
I bought Record mostly for the mixer page and, 14 years later, it is exactly the same in Reason 13. Wihen you look at what channel strip plugins can do these days, it's kind of sad to only have that one flavour for such a long time.
I bought Reason 6 mostly for its instruments and effects, but 14 years later, the MIDI editor still looks and works the same with very limited options! As a result, I only use the Reason Rack in Reaper.
I mean how much is the update?
Now i search for drums and loops and it gives me everything without letting me search for the old folder structure where i can find the sounds easily
Also the new zoom and layout is very bad for my workflow. Since i cant zoom out of the piano roll i cant paint the velocity for a 4 bar loop easily. I would have to paint each note now. Worked with reason since version 6 so its actually very sad what you did there. Who thought that was a good idea?
Can i change the directory of the sound banks?
The browser is still slow though...
reason 13 is overall noticable slower than 12
Kudos for listening!
@@RyanHarlin Awesome! I was afraid it was removed deliberately for some reason. Thanks for forwarding it, and the reply! :-)
help me, I installed Reason 13.1 by subscription and now I can't run the projects created in Reason 12, "file has bad format" appears on startup
I want to be able to resize the browser or Dock IT somewhere
Add “hide tracks” and track grouping please…
What about samples playing in the middle of the sample instead of having to start at the beginning?
Surely you mean MIDI notes (a.k.a. "note chase") and not samples, because samples play from wherever you start
@@Artek604 WOW you know SO MUCH
@@ontheruntonowhereAt least he's right and not confusing such simple things like samples/midi clips.
@@whoknows6794 Surely you mean pompous!
I would love to see more improvements for audio editing functions like a detailed audio volume curve drawing
It's a very good update. Now we have split under cursor we need slip editing. 😊
What's slip editing?
@compteprivefr when you can move audio material inside a clip but the clip stays in place. Very helpful for editing vocals, guitar and drums.
@@elya5593 You can do this in "Comp Edit" mode. it's been there for years.
@@compteprivefr yes I know but it's not very convenient.
8:38 I wanted to cut dirrectly from the play head for a long time, thats a exilent addition, I need that now thats going to help me out.
But still no way to auto fadein/fadeout the positions where we chopped? I clearly hear the clicks at 9:16 :(
@photoindra Well that is something they need for Mimic and any audio chaping on devices because its has a annoying click at the cut points tht I have to go in and edit a fade on each cut. When cutting in the sequencer it doesn't do that click at the cut points so there for I don't need auto face option for that. What do you need that feature for?
How would I transfert my custom Browser Tags from one machine to another? Is this handled by Reason Compagnon?
