PLEASE let us use the sequencer when using Reason as a plugin! Edit: what would be especially cool, is if every instance of the reason plugin within a project was aware of the others and were all available within the sequencer (that is aware of and reflects the global song position of the DAW you are working in). Then, by default each instance of the plugin within a session would be in it's own "group" and assigned to one channel within the Reason plugin. Is there a way to preview samples and select the desired piece of audio wave? This is necessary for sound designers so that they can use the search in sound libraries containing long files with tons of sound variants. This is very well implemented in "soundly" - there you can select any piece of sample and immediately drag it to the DAW track as an audio file. In my opinion it is critically important, if we are talking about goodsounds browsing
Very cool but a bit worried about the samples and fav list being disappeared from the side. I'm sure I'll get used to it but the muscle memory is kinda gone
Can you zoom the rack independently from the rest now, or are still stuck in either "rack is too small, seq is ok" or "rack is ok, seq is too big" modes?😮
↓2. Tool window has been removed only to take up way more screen space now ↓3.. Everything about sample edit mode was already neatly tucked in the upper toolbar, now it takes up more space
This is the update I've been waiting for! These workflow improvements are huge for us Reason-as-a-DAW users. Thank you guys for all of your hard work and attention to detail on this release guys!
Why make the browser a locked window that can't be moved to another monitor like the others? If there's a way to change this or have it back to the old style, I can't find it. Just give us the option to have it where it always was. This thing doesn't even merge with the left panel anymore. It's frustrating and unnecessary.
↓4. Browser feels very RRP oriented. Until now it was very easy to drag and drop samples on the same track, one after the other. Now that workflow has become cumbersome.
Nice. You told everthing you can do with the new browser (which is a lot). Maybe we also should talk about the things you no longer / can't do: 1. No own categories/folders/favourites anymore for organizing your devices&vsts the way YOU want. -2. No function to filter for VST only or RE instruments only. Seems like VSTs are no longer in focus here.- 3. The browser window is not "floating free" if you have more than one monitor. Why on earth weren't you able to give us all the brilliant new features without taking away those beloved and useful old ones? Edit: No.2 obsolete because this function hides itself behind the burger menu. Thanks @RoryChandler for clarifying.
I'm really annoyed that you no longer can throw a sample from a folder in to redrum (or any other sample based RE) and than skip through all the samples in that folder. For some reason the new browser overrides that. Ugghhh please reason just give us the old browser back.
The browser changes are great - so much cleaner and easier to use across all devices. I suspect some people with a lot of old muscle memory won't be too enamoured, but I think it's worth it.
I'm one of the biggest advocate for Reason going. Been a solid user since 2.5. I'm sad to say this is the first update I'm not going to purchase. Just feels like it should be an update to 12 rather than the next version.
I am an "in-the-box" jingle producer who uses the R+ system in its entirety; no third-party plugins. The Ripley effects plugin is of particular interest; it's clear you've carefully considered the needs of sound designers with its feature set. The sidechain and gain tools are also very welcome. Alongside your updated browser system and sequencer improvements, I suspect my workflow will be at least 20 percent faster. Knowing Reason listens to its dedicated users, I would like to see, in the future, a one-stop mastering plugin (meter / limiter / clipper / eq / saturator) and track stacking. However, I am perfectly happy with Reason+ as it is. Lastly, I've noticed you've said/shown nothing about the SSL mixer, which my favorite part of the DAW. Any surprises regarding this? Looking forward to the update :)
As a good Windows user, I usually need to format my PC every 3/4 years due to random problems that break the boot or interface. Where are these new tags stored on the hard drive? If it's in the system's default folders, can't I put this information on a hard drive that doesn't have a direct connection to the system's hard drive? // I don't know if it's possible, but having the piano row panel appearing on the side could also be a good deal, some work with ultra wide monitors, and it would be a smarter use of the function in these cases.
I’d like the mixer faders and pan knobs to be able to be displayed at the bottom half of the sequencer screen instead of the top of the screen as well if that’s a possibility in the future. Thx for working on the DAW workflow. I hope this will be a continued focus on every update as reason is still my favorite DAW to work in.
Thanks Ryan. These are great additions, tagging is a gamechanger for me as I have a vast number of patches and Refills accumulated since I first began with Reason (in the v1 prehistoric era - been there since the very beginning). Being able to group tag a bunch of patches in a third party RE (like your Korg MonoPoly example) is incredibly helpful. I assume the same logic will work with Refills (I have over 200 of them!)?
I never heard one person ever complain about the old briwser (but everyone wanted sequencer improvements), So why the change?……… I hate it. It’s slower, all my favourite lists of how I organized my plugins gone, Feeding me old ass subtractor and malstorm patches I never want to be recommended, clicking new instrument doesn’t take me to my device lists but a list of random patches….. this is a ui disaster
Can you can choose your drive to install in Windows (re's and soundpacks included) As it always automatically installs to c drive without option, and for whatever reason my c drive is really small compared to my d drive on my laptop.
This is one of the additions I’m excited about. We’ve definitely needed tagging. In maschine, it makes my work flow much faster. Glad it’s in Reason now. Can you guys add a key or pitch recognition feature that will help us find the key of a one-shot, chord or clip? I look forward to the sidechain device overview. We’ve needed that for a while. Also, can knobs for left&right marker be added on Mimmic, so that we can control it from a midi controller?
It would be nice if you could choose random location for weekly packs for Reason+! I had to stop downloading and had to delete pretty much everything because it filled a decent part of my system drive... 👀👀
Peace and love! I’m loving it but can we please get back the ability to, while a file is selected in the browser be able to hit the left arrow and have the selection jump up to the folder the file is in and a second click will close it up? Now while scrolling through I have to reach for the mouse more often to click on the folder then hit back arrow or just push the up arrow and wait while it goes back up the whole list til it gets to the folder then the back arrow to close. Much love and great job with everything!
Is there a shortcut to maximise each edit window. I'm sick of dragging it up to be able see everything and R13 doesn't remember that change if you jump around windows & clips.
Looks pretty good, I can tell you guys really did put allot of effort into this and have implemented some of the features users asked for. Good Job keep it up and make Reason a competitive DAW, you can do it.
It used to be easy to transpose a whole song with one click. Now I can't see how to do that. Select more than one element and transpose is not active... what am I missing? I have to transpose each track one at a time? I preferred the tool rack.
Any thoughts on MIDI clip instancing for easy editing of multiple similar clips and managing multiple clips/tracks for reuse throughout multiple projects?
That floating browser is a BIG no for me! And destroying the old browser by removing the option to make folder so you can arrange your favorite devices. So no upgrade for me before they have fix this.
I understand your POV from an OCD perspective but logically speaking, you’re not looking for sounds or patches all the time. You look, you find, you pick, and after that it doesn’t need to take up any real estate on your screen any more. I might not be as versed in Studio One functionality as you are but I’m not sure their browser was the first thing that grabbed me.
@@titovalasques They have destroyed the browser so that when i want to find my favorite plugins/Re (i search visually and not by what the plugin is called). I Can't drag My RE or Vsts to a favorites folder after the 13 upgrade. Please fix this. PLEASE!!
Solid asf❤..can’t wait..I feel like I’ve had a daw that grew with my journey…reason since V7
THIS IS AWESOME!! BEST CHANGE FOR THE REASON
man this great for sure so am back on Reason 13 so what lest is Grouping tracks
Combinator 2 update please
To do what?
@@titovalasques siblings
@@titovalasques add stepped switches, crossfader, grouping buttons… just to name a few
Are We Ever Going To Actually Get Anymore Colours for Our Tracks?
Good job Reason Studios Team! Definitely considering upgrading. Thank you. ✨ 🌟 🙏🏽
wow, just thought "I wonder what's going on with Reason lately" and this video is 16 mins old!
Looks good :)
I'm sold. After watching this, my workflow is going to be so much faster. can't wait until the 18th. SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!! LOL
↓4. Browser feels very RRP oriented. Until now it was very easy to drag and drop samples on the same track, one after the other. Now that workflow has become cumbersome.
Why, you don't like menu diving?
@@B1SCOOP Yeah, I don't wanna make a big SPLASH SCREEN out of it.
Agree
It’s horrible
Nice. You told everthing you can do with the new browser (which is a lot). Maybe we also should talk about the things you no longer / can't do:
1. No own categories/folders/favourites anymore for organizing your devices&vsts the way YOU want.
-2. No function to filter for VST only or RE instruments only. Seems like VSTs are no longer in focus here.-
For number 2, at 1:09 you see a little hamburger menu. There you can filter RE, VST etc.
I'm really annoyed that you no longer can throw a sample from a folder in to redrum (or any other sample based RE) and than skip through all the samples in that folder. For some reason the new browser overrides that. Ugghhh please reason just give us the old browser back.
Will we still be able to view the sequencer and the rack at the same time?
yes
Yes, but everything will be squished now into 3 panels when the split sequencer is open
The browser changes are great - so much cleaner and easier to use across all devices. I suspect some people with a lot of old muscle memory won't be too enamoured, but I think it's worth it.
I'll be honest Im pretty happy with the new browser, looks good.
I am too....I'm just curious how it will work with vsts
All I needed was a bigger screen for editing audio clips and I got way more than that... Totally on board for this upgrade
I'm one of the biggest advocate for Reason going. Been a solid user since 2.5. I'm sad to say this is the first update I'm not going to purchase. Just feels like it should be an update to 12 rather than the next version.
is block mode still in it
I am an "in-the-box" jingle producer who uses the R+ system in its entirety; no third-party plugins.
I don't know if it's possible, but having the piano row panel appearing on the side could also be a good deal, some work with ultra wide monitors, and it would be a smarter use of the function in these cases.
Tell me there is now track folders.
Exactly 👏
True
I don’t regret migrating to Bitwig, Bitwig is more Reason than Reason
True
Facts!
Is Tagging only good per install? Where does it store tagging information?
Why can’t I drag that new browser to a 2nd screen? Why is it locked in front of the rack? It’s clunky! Why can’t I detach the F9 browser?
Can you can choose your drive to install in Windows (re's and soundpacks included)
As it always automatically installs to c drive without option, and for whatever reason my c drive is really small compared to my d drive on my laptop.
This is all fine and well, and it looks great. NOW, can we get the ability to scrub audio? I've asked about this numerous times in the past.
The ReBirth of Reason! 👏
What about being able solo and mute lanes in the sequencer? Or being able to start recording from playing a note or key on the keyboard? Just sayin
mute and solo lane buttons are still in the sequencer
its been along time. now I can use reason back now. like the new work flows
Can I still toggle play start to start at chosen position? or is that a different shortcut?
WELL DONE! 👍🏻🔥😎
Looks pretty good, I can tell you guys really did put allot of effort into this and have implemented some of the features users asked for. Good Job keep it up and make Reason a competitive DAW, you can do it.
amazing platform ever since 1.0 😎😎
🚨HELP - How can I separate the windows (Mixer/Rack/Sequencer) for my workflow with a super wide screen???
But now they have destroyed the old browser, i have to scroll through ALL my fx/instruments instead of being able to click on a folder where i have organized my favorite instruments/FX that i use often like for example "Delay" "Compressor " "EQ" "Utility" "Glitch" and such.
@@titovalasques Why did you delete my comment @ReasonStudios ?
@@MarcSwing Is this directed at me or at Reason Studios?? 😳
@@titovalasques It was directed at Reason Studio, i answered you why i think they ruined the old browser but apparently they didn't like it and deleted my comment...🤷♂
