I recently got married and my wife and I moved in together for the first time and I brought my treadmill to work out on. I am used to running and listening to Ruslan or Horses or Brant Hansen or some other youtube thing but the only place I have to put my treadmill is on a concrete pad that is extremely unlevel. While I try to figure out how to level it I've been running on our street which is about .4 miles to a dead end. I don't carry a phone or earbuds. Instead I run silently thinking and reflecting on my day and life and waving at neighbors and racing the neighbors chihuahua down it's fence as it barks at me and meeting people checking their mail or weed eating. It's made me realize how much is going on outside of the little sphere of me and my phone.
Yup, same with me. But I don't like running out in physical reality that is harsh nature, humidity, hi! I'm a feeble human .male what can I say? Id rather run on a tread lightly mill. But I've actually ran out in the neighborhood more than in treadmill, though in the past 4 years I've preferred riding bike because it's more fun and exceersizing hard, but there's greater to a human body running without much human invented tools, equipment, gadgets, only your phone in case you're in violent danger or you're tired and can't go home, and light clothing, Mabey protection hat , protection eyes, knee pads all of this if you're in God's Great Outdoors nature by yourself, yes it's a great spiritual blending, out of my video games and entertainment that's feeling meaningless it gives me this feeling and actual peace than listening to edgy music. God bless that's why I have a heart and mind set on agriculture. Guess that's a gift.

Ruslan, there are individuals like myself who genuinely struggle to fall asleep on an airplane, let alone in a car. It has been several years since I last managed to doze off in a car. So I am not surprised they did not fall asleep.

So, I tried to strike up a conversation with the gentleman next to me on my flight. He explained to me that he was currently “raw-dogging.” That is when our conversation abruptly ended.
The term for this is stupid, but I can confirm.
I recently took FOUR lengthy international flights and noticed multiple people doing this.
Not sleeping, just sitting there, looking at nothing or the flight map.

that's how i would do it.. i never fly, but when i use public transport i'm just looking out of the window. i cannot read with people around (and with the sounds of the transport), i don't watch movies but even if i did i couldn't in public, i don't listen to music, and i certainly don't go to sleep among a bunch of strangers.
oh and i don't have a smartphone that i use for anything else than as a e-reader to read the bible, there's no sim in it or anything.

So…basically just do what normal people did like 20ish years ago? I remember when I started flying in the early 90s. I’d bring my walkman, my book and I was set for the flight. There’s nothing stopping these people from taking a half hour or hour long walk every day at a park or something completely unplugged what makes flying so special that that’s a time for you to completely unplug from everything?
The only thing being hijacked here are slang terms from 20-30 years ago. I'm 50, and "Raw-dogging" back in the day, meant something COMPLETELY different. 😳 And now that I'm older and wiser, I don't use those types of phrases. Hey Gen Z, come up with your own phrases, don't recycle old ones with new meanings. You're confusing us old people! 😂

I can't actually fall asleep on planes. I have lost or forgotten headphones and done it without trying or telling others afterward.
I do think less social media makes the mind stronger. And I think humans long to be known for more than their posts and reels. However, these guys being influencers defeats that purpose.
Why not just read a book or draw?
