Reylan Gracie (brother number four) makes his Gracie Insider teaching debut with a sneaky transition from the Neck-hug Variation of the Americana (Gracie Combatives Lesson 2) to the Arm Triangle. For more techniques visit www.GracieUniversity.com Хобби
Haha! I love the way he takes a moment to savour the submission at 3.56 :D
“That’s good” like he’s tasting wine at a restaurant
Hahaha
3:57 Lol I think he's savoring the payback for all those times he got choked out as a kid lol
lolll
The arm triangle is the best submission in my arsenal, ive never seen the added detail where you sit through to kesa getame / scarf hold style before that looks like it makes it even more ridiculously tighter!! Can’t wait to try it out in rolling
This move actually earned me my first tap rolling last night. Thanks guys.
Are you a black blet yet?
@@Lagspikee usually takes about 10 years or more especially if you have a job lol
Congratulations bro!
@@nickallen8333 just throwing it out there, that’s a ridiculous question lol. Plus in my training I’ve seen a blue or purple belt, beat a black belt before.
@@J_GoTTi not really the post is from 8 years ago.. It’s not that ridiculous, it can be done if that’s all you do. You most likely seen a blue/purple TAP a black belt not beat them lol
hey guys thanks so much. I love the arm triangle and you've given yet another way to hit it. Thank you again.
Amazing work Reylan.
This is great, very simple and efficient! I look forward to using this soon.
wow, that is a great response to the headlock-americana defence. thanks so much reylan and rener, my training partner is going to love this.
Great lesson. Will try this. Thanks guys!
Nice setup. Good opportunity for a wrist lock as well with the wrist bent on the mat and elbow up.
I love this transition; cant wait to try it!
I just want to say. I really enjoy watching your videos. They never get too old. I also love the way you guys explain everything. What are you guys up to now?
i know this is an old video, but i paid attention to every detail of this sub, and i have had a lot of success with it. Its a good distraction and difficult to know whats coming next. i just love this technique.
Well done boys! Rener, always great, and Reylan, the next great teacher at the Academy.
Gracie family thank you. I received my combative dvds 2 days ago. I am learning so many different and effective techniques that they don't teach me at my jiu-jitsu class. TY
Great transition, I'm going to give it a try. Thanks a lot guys!
First Great job teaching Reylon! I'm impressed with your style.
This is a great transition, and I really have liked playing with it. I can't wait to put it into practice :)
definitely using this!
Thanks so much for this lesson. I did it, maybe I was really lucky but I did it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great info, keep them coming guys.
I'm a white belt, after watching this video many months ago, I actually pulled this off the following day in class. Great video!
@elbowtko I think having more limbs is a boon in grappling. He is less likely to be restrained if you don't have enough body parts to hold his limbs down.
Like he said I think its key to shoot the right arm after the gable grip vs reaching for the bicep with the left hand bc you could loosen your tuck on his neck and he could shrimp out etc
Thank you Gracies!
at 4:24 i would do a pankration move its where you pull the bottems guys wrist towards his feet and his elbow is pointing straight--> while in chest to chest position, keep lifting his wrist out and up until he taps or the shoulder breaks, your way works too great vid you guys
head to head contact is key here - also I found leaning into works sometimes on big guys.
Awesome tricks.
I love grappling.
If you have the arm triangle with the bicep hold, is it okay to tripod and walk toward the head for added pressure?
Gilbert Trinidad tricky... what if they shrimp out to the side?
@sakrich if you have had any jiujitsu classes would know when learning the neck hug variation of the Americana you shoot the back hook this keeps you from being trap and rolled. If they remove either let arm go and do hips and hands(superman) or reinsert hook again. I guarantee you wouldn't roll me just because I went for neck hug variation Americana or transitioned to the arm triangle. with back hook in and arm around neck this is a basic mount control called anchor and base.
well done guys, thanks a lot. much respect.
great job reylan im going to try this next time 5/5
When sprawling out (this helps against the bigger opponents naturally) get a near 90 degree angle. When applying the choke, it is imperative that the hand that was hugging the opponents neck is the TOP HAND. Ralen showed it in the video, To add extra pressure, crank the top hand towards your body along with your opponents' head. But, be careful! My friend didn't talk to me for a week.
My academy has never taught the arm triangle. But its one of my fav submission
Such an awsome and wonderfull technique :D
Excellent!!
hey every gracie does the shading. that is awesome.
Used this in my last tournament.
Thanks! I tried this today and my opponent hung in there...this ideo showed me how I could improve it.
Hey does anyone know a good way to defend against that?
Is not a random pass, for instance when you pass the guard and take side control is a good idea to stop and take a deep breath, the first thing the guy on bottom is going to do is freak out and try to shrimp, if you stay heavy he will stay stuck in your side control, no sweep. The pauses help stabilize yourself from the other grappler when you are doing live rolling, but at the end every person develops it's own jiu jitsu so you might not like the pauses and that's ok :) I personally like them.
the more I use this the more I like it.
I tried it for the first time and it didn't work the second time did the trick, thanks!
What a great family
@schubbel It depends! Can you be more specific with " A sidechoke"! do you mean when you put pressure with the blade of your forearm on the oppentents neck from sidemount? If so then it's not the same thing! But if you mean something else please tell me! ;=
Ya I know the basic stuff, but I was thinking about when they were already setting up the choke. A sweep like you said or a roll are probably the only options haha Thank you though for the ideas man
thaks so much...
the gracies are one family you would NOT wanna mess with :P
I’m a Taekwondo instructor and lately I’ve been trying to adapt Taekwondo self defence into it’s own style and I saw the opportunity for one of the Taekwondo wrist locks here when you had his elbow up , bend the wrist and put your weight on his elbow. if that makes sense
that is a sick triangle choke
great technique
I love it
very nice..
Need more videos wit lil bro 💯💪👊
Is the arm triangle and the side choke the same thing?
@LowLeveledPower i dont think he means by choked out, choked unconscious, he could simply mean choked out being getting caught and tapping.
Position before submission? Isn't that a Tony Ceccene saying?
Was he choking himself out?
Once someone is mounted on you ... all I can say is "upa!" or bridge hard, make sure to take at leas one of the 4 points (wrap around his arm with yours and bridge to that side) that should get you in his guard, still dangerous but better than mount
If yout jiu jitsu flows like that more power to you dude, just keep on training and flowing, maybe one day we'll roll, that'll be really cool! :)
#1, don't get mounted lol, when in mount keep your arms in tight. Try to get the arm back around their head. When they try to turn away from you, turn back toward them, getting back to guard if possible. if while setting up the choke, you can sweep them you should be able to nutralize the choke by haviing a top position. these are my first thoughts at least...
Nice👍🏽
@nightvisionmonocular Gene LeBell says that too.
awsome
@thevalkyrie8 why not?
Why can't the person on their back use their free arm to force their trapped arm back through between his head and his opponents head?
Andre Johnson Depends on how tight he has it and how quickly you attempt that.
LOL, it really looks like the choke is being applied on both of them at the same time. Reylan is like "woof, that was a good one"... :-D
Do you mean being choked or being unconscious?
How do you keep the mounted guy from "rolling" you over to the non-Americana side? Especially if he follows you with his hips...
The guy on his back can't roll the guy on top because the guy on top has his base is grounded to the side. It would be the bottom guys back muscles against the top guys whole body.
Kris Says: Agressive leg hooks, referred to in their instruction as "super hooks".
Edmond Dantez Thank you very much for the help! Have a great week!
The audio is off....
@sakrin also bas rutten is awesome you just mistranslated something most likely.
I use this today and worked 3 times out of 3. Your neck will be sore, though
Oh ok cool I don't like random pauses because I rush which is not really good but I kinda works for me. I like it fast paced but also controlled because for me I think my opponent gets confused.
what would the ufc be like if royce gracie didnt show this beautiful art of jui jitsu thanks royce
I heard about someone with multiple limbs, imagine if all those limbs were fully working, like extra hands. I think they'd be an unstoppable force in MMA. Not even BJJ could save you. Like that baby from China if its limbs were fully working, you could grapple with him and restrain his arms and he'd still be able to swing at you. Also he'd be able to do one hell of a juggling act.
I remember watching this, 14 years ago , my God
back then he had no choice....he was walking by ....we pulled him in choked him out and keep it real......LMFAO......fucking funny from 0:20 to 0:50
keep it real gracie......and keep the videos coming
@5:30 listen -- this is a slow choke.
I didn't pinch my head the first time which weakened the choke...
damn i miss taking bjj, too fuckin expensive :( teaching myself muay thai now to compensate haha. JJ is the most fun and physically progressive for health i still feel tho
"it's all gravie" or i don't know how to spell it ;P but its an awsome gracie line :D i have to start saying that :P
"Its good" lol 3:58
@Makron5
or it just gives them more exposed limbs to submit
1:30
haha yeah never start a fight at the gracie familly reunion
Protect ya neck kid
it's a jiu-jitsu mantra.
theres no t in bicep!
Ticep

搞基的節奏。
JESUS MODE
Well, sounds like you are sitll too "brand new" for Jiu Jitsu. Like I said before, if you know what you are doing, you are safe... you will know how to counter the opponent's counter... Just ask Roger Gracie, he submitted all his opponents in the last World Championship using a choke from the mount position, some of those chokes having his arm behind the opponent's neck. I'm sure that all the guys he submitted were "good opponents".
@slipknot420420 a different gracie would have done it with better technique lol
Why do they have random pauses kinda weird
ok, this is so hot!!
what the hell are you trying to say!?
why always saying keepin it real????
Not really, it's only bad if you're unconscious for extended periods of time.
Little brother finally gets to choke out big brother. I'm sure he loved it
4 minutes for brain damage to ensue, if that's what you mean by "extended periods of time" :)
isnt it bad to go unconscious and get choked out "thousands and thousands of times" ???
Jiu Jitsu has no rules... you can do whatever you wanna do as long as you know what you are doing! NEVER do this or ALWAYS do that IS NOT Jiu Jitsu
This move is a classic basic judo kata gatame.
