    After watching this and owning some of the fragrances I took Sebastians advice and bought a bottle of Caractere. As Sebastian says it is very old school in the way it smells. I managed to get a 50ml bottle for £10 from a Mail order catalogue with free delivery. I do not know what it is about the smell of this but it is very compelling. So much so I have just bought another bottle.

    I’m a huge Pour lui fan I bought 125 glass sample bottles 10ml each bottle from 1984. Someone had a drugstore and closed and had all there inventory in a temperature controlled storage. They died and there kids were selling it all. I’ve bought this fragrance from mid 90’s and new and the color of the juice goes from dark brown in 84, to gold in 90’s to clear now. The original stuff is amazing

    90% of fragrances I buy now are either pre "early" 2000's or vintage..just way way better imo even the fact they've been re formulated they are just so more interesting than modern day perfumes..imo you could easily put most of the fragrances on this list in a bottle from any modern day niche house and get away with charging over £150..in fact I don't even think a niche house would or could create anything like a kouros in today's market

    A question! I've now got around 20 fragrances in my "palette", which I find to be more than enough for a variety of moods, weathers and whims. Naturally, my ignorance of what else is out there plays into my satisfaction with what I've got. Ignorance is bliss, as they say--though perhaps not QUITE bliss, as my curiosity spurs me on to keep learning more. But you've got neither my sparse collection nor my relatively blissful ignorance. Which leads to my question.... You must have thousands in your collection, along with the incredibly wide experience that brings. You mentioned in this video that you've been wearing the heck out of the Kenzo. Which makes me think, HOW do you wear the heck out of one fragrance without condemning thousands of others to relic-hood? To put it differently, with only 365 days in a year, and thousands of fragrances to choose from, how much of your own fragrance-palette gets a turn at bat in, say, a typical year?

    There's something about the dry down on Dunhill Edition that really appeals to me and makes it worth much more than the $21 that Fragrancenet currently charges for it (and that's about $4 more than it was a few years ago!). Maybe it's because the mid and the dry down have a combo of my favorite notes - clove, cinammon, nutmeg, sandalwood, amber and musk. I'm sure many have the same thoughts I do each day and that is when deciding what fragrance to wear in the morning, should I go with a cheapie when I have so many expensive ones, even if I get more pleasure from the cheapie 4 hours later?

    17:17 I grew up in Spain, back when Esencia lasted well over 12 hrs. This is the kind of scent men would wear on summer nights out, featuring a level of potency unheard of these days. I cherish the bottle of the real strong juice that I bought in the early 2000s, literally the kind of fragrance that would pump you up and keep you feeling like a god for hours. Beautiful smell, in Spain this reached mythical status.

Has similarities with Drakkar Noir, but again I prefer Lomani pour Homme. Furyo by Jacques Bogart is also super. Red for Men from Georgry Beverly Hills is also great.

    What about Eternity from CK?

    • @dkeester77
      @dkeester77 2 года назад

      Yes. I have both the EdT (a recent formulation) and the new EdP. Both are great, IMO. The EdT (to me) is more Spring/Summer, while the EdP is more Fall/Winter. I think Eternity has held up well over the years and could be included on this list.

      @@dkeester77 Yeah I’ve been wearing it because it’s all I have right now but I’ve come to appreciate it. It’s an older scent but the dry down is very pleasant. I have the EDT

    Hi, really like ur content about classic men’s fragrance, I’m a fan of rediscovering fragrance from the older times and understanding how they evolves, would it be too much for me to request a video of iconic men’s fragrance that changed the industry and are most popular during that decade please! 🙇🏻‍♂️

    If your Pour Lui says USA on the bottle then its made in usa. France bottles are embossed on the bottle with Made in France. I have both and cant smell a difference at all.

    If you mention Versace pour Homme easily Paco Rabanne pour Homme could be mentioned too 😉
    Charactere is great for sure. Oldskool but caught me instantly too
    I think i need to check Santos. Sounds great from the Note Breakdown 👍😃

    Great video Sebastian! Btw you're missing quite a few chapters (Versace L'homme, Bogart One Man Show, Floris 89, Houbigant Duc de Vervins, Kiton Men, Boss 1, Loewe Esencia, Oscar de la Renta)

    Do you have a current bottle of Obsession for Men? I would suggest getting the current Obsession for Women edp. You'll be surprised at how close it is the men's version but with alot more power. I recently picked up a bottle of Dunhill Edition and really like it. I would say it's 15% Eau Sauvage, 20% Halston Catalyst and 65% Aramis.

    Pour caractère le parfum n'a pas changé uniquement le flacon un peu moins epais. Il sent toujours très bon. Ah Daniel Hechter. Cuir sensuel c'est Francis kurkjian qui l'a créé coton chic ils sont pas mal aussi.
