Thanks for this video, Ashton. Great for older guys like me, you, and the others that clicked because the word older guys was in caps and bold so they could see it.
I’m 51. It just so happens that I am wearing Terre D’hermes for the first time ever. I don’t really care for the opening that much, but the dry down is unique and very enjoyable.
I just retired at 65 and rocking most of the frags in this video! Also love youthful frags! Thanks for your content and comments about wearing what you want, when you want! Thanks Ash.
I only have TDH and I will not need you as I will be busy watching Columbo as it gets better compliments and with 10 seasons actually has better longevity than Matlock.
Growing older is a privilege that many never get to experience, that said at the age of 63 I really enjoy tom ford oud Wood, cdni, Varvatos Artisan, D&G Light Blue Intense for summer. Always enjoy your work 💪
I agree with everything on your list. I will add the following as also great options. 1. Dior Fahrenheit Parfum 2. Tom Ford Fougere D'Argent 3. Chanel Sycomore 4. Guerlain Vetiver 5. Aramis EDT And last, but certainly not least A vintage bottle of YSL Kouros. You must have hair on your chest to pull it off but it's absolutely a must have if you're over 40.
Chanel Platinum Egoiste...started wearing it when I was going to my first interviews 20 years ago, and still wear it today and guess what? Yep, still works!
Nice list. As an older gent I own all but one. I'm not a fan of Sauvage, give me Eau Sauvage any day. I typically reach for Bleu De Chanel for a blue fragrance. That said I really don't care for overly sweet fragrances either. Thanks for the content
Just turned 57, my favs are Luna Rossa Carbon, Mont Blanc Legend Spirit, Hanae Mori, and Varvatos Oud, which is surprisingly similiar to my old standby, Halston Z-14.
I got 2 out of the top 10: Eau Sauvage (a classic) Terre d'Hermes EDT (finishing 2nd bottle very soon). Love this perfume, as it is very versatile, and I got compliments.
I’m 49 & I like wearing anything that has a clean smell to it , not a just jumped out of the shower smell . I like all of the Polo,s , Aqua di Gio , fragrances like that , clean to the smell & it’s best if you don’t wear to much of it , you want some to smell it when they walk into your bubble like 2 to 3 feet away from you that way they,ll come back or you,ll walk by someone & go into their bubble & they pick it up just for a brief moment . That’s how all fragrances should be worn & don’t forget to keep some on hand wile out & about you can buy small fragrance sample bottles for cheap just label it & spray a bit in them , you don’t want to smell like your dinner then go out for a night on the town , dig into it , put some on the tip of your finger & apply in small amounts as smell fades through out the night .
Yep on Guerlain Vetiver. High up on the list of this 60 year old. I would also add Creed Royal Oud. Ralph Lauren Polo Green is my favorite scent of all, and I consider it to be the best representation of the ideal "scent of a man". And if that is true, Royal Oud represents that man if he were to be coronated as a King.
This theme could use an update. At 65 I’m suddenly conscious of wearing something scents, while beautiful, don’t feel right in the wearing. I’ve a sampler package of Acqua di Parma Blue scents and a couple of them feel more timeless than, say, my Mancera collection. I’d like to hear your take on contemporary scents for the older gent.
As an old school alternative to the old school vetiver in Terre De Hermes there is always Guerlain Vetiver. I have never gotten a bad remark wearing it, it lasts literally for days, and it's relatively cheap. I have had people think I am wearing insect repellent when I have on TdH numerous times as it can come off a little bit DEET at times. Which I like the smell of DEET but still... Of course I have found that really ALL off the frags that are from about 1970 and below are still around for a reason excluding the really cheap ones which British Sterling may be fun but it isn't gonna be a crowdpleaser. Keep it above $30 and all of the old schools are still winners.
Guerlain Vetiver is fantastic. Similar to TF Grey Vetiver but a bit more citrus and less dry. Terre d'Hermes Eau Extreme Vetiver is like halfway between Terre d'Hermes Parfum and Guerlain Vetiver.
After going through 100+ fragrances in over 20 years of collecting, I have narrowed it down to TF Grey Vetiver for a true modern classic fresh scent and LV Ombre Nomade for all other occasions. The original 90s version of D&G pour homme was an amazing scent for the price at the time (still have a couple of unopened bottles), the current Intenso gives a similar vibe to the original but unfortunately there are noticeable differences in smell as well as performance.
Finally!!! Someone said it wear what you want and when. I get so tired of hearing about wearing a certain fragrance during a certain season. Girl wear that Libre le Parfum in July!
I’m turning 37 and this vid has a bunch of stuff that I enjoy wearing time to time , Not crazy about the TDH line but I like Bottega Veneta PH and Lancome Hypnose!
Would love an updated (2023) video for us older guys when you can. Maybe one scent for each season? I don't want to smell like a young man in a singles club, but I don't want to smell like I belong in a retirement community neither.
I'm 53 and wouldn't be caught dead in a singles club 🙂 I'd suggest Bleu de Chanel EDP or Parfum. A classy, smooth and refined scent that can be worn year around and in any occasion.
Great list Ashton ! Bottega Veneta Pour Homme Parfum is great . . . I was lucky enough to get a 3 oz bottle before is got axed from the line up ! There are so many classics for older Gents. Glad to see you tackle this category Thanks for sharing XD
My bro is 18 and got boss numer one, it smells old school but with a strong sirupy honey drydown and he loves it, i was surprised but im glad his nose has evolved to appreciate different scents.
For work environment, I wear a mature and maybe Old fashion fragrance. When I meet friends ( or women) and drinking in a bar , something more playful! I am 42...
I love some “ older guy “ and I’m only 24 colognes and I wear some winter in warmer weather I get weird looks when I tell people lol only bad thing is that for some reason my skin doesn’t allow cologne to last long so I have to carry my bottle and re-spray after a couple of hours.
Interesting list .. I don’t have Acqua Essenzialle Colonia but will be getting . I do have Acqua Di Palma Colonia and at 63 it is an easy reach . I said funny because my favorite mature Blue is Acqua Essenzialle Blue .. ( my wife would not agree , she would choose Sauvage EDP or Dylan Blue ). I agree with Terre D Hermès … I was surprised Aqua Di Gio didn’t make the cut ? Another I thought might make the list would be Mont Blanc Legend ?
I dig Platinum Egoiste and Eau Sauvage, although I prefer the 2017 parfum over the edt. Ash, One of the best lists You have ever produced. I would wear all of them. In fact, there is a few in my collection. And yes i am a man of a certain age. Perhaps Armani Homme and something from Guerlain? As in Homme. Thank you.
Great video! Thanks for making it! I fall into the category 😒I like what you said in the intro. I do like mature smelling fragrances, but I also like some that smell more youthful.
I am 63, and I wear anything from Sauvage, Aqua Di Gio Profumo, Eros, Dylan Blue, Guerlain Vetiver, Azzaro Wanted by Night, Bleu De Chanel, Issey Miyake Pulse of The Night, John Varvatos Artisan Pure, and many more.

I cant believe I'm over 40 and I still look and smell great Im a legend in my own mind Im a legend 🙌 OG can't stop won't stop somebody stop ✋! Me!!!
The One and Dior Sauvage are also best fragrances for older men.
"wear what you want, when you want"..... My motto... Well said
I'm 33 and I wear Terre d'Hermes without feeling too old. At the same time, I also enjoy wearing 'juvenile' fragrances like Eros though.
I'm 41 and just bought terre dhermes freiche as I wanted a change from my typical blue type fragrance and I love it smells very classy and boss like
My go to “mature” fragrance is Boucheron- Jaiper. Such a classic
I just bought one of Boucheron Jaipur. Do you think it's smells dated?
Presence by Mont Blanc has Jaipur vibes and can be found at rack stores for cheap. I enjoy that one!
I am 46 and love Tom Ford´s Beau de Jour.
Absolutely!
I'm 40, and I wear a lot of "younger" scents. But I do love more mature fragrances for certain situations. So this is very helpful.
Tony. I’m the same age. What do you usually wear. Niche and designer?
@@erics670 I have a lot of fragrances and most of them are designers. Some Indy house fragrances, but no real niche stuff.

Then you put Cool Water and get compliments, thats how it works man

I always here about how great it is, the only impression I got for the opening after testing it in the store was like Off bugspray
@@craigulatorrr I certainly can see that but it changes/develops quickly from the opening. It’s quite complex IMO.

1. Dior Fahrenheit Parfum
