Hey Ryan! I have absolutely no idea how i stumbled upon your channel, but since then I’m very happy i did. I love your positivity and the way you support other people. Since i have been watching your videos, my RC racing has improved big time, the setups, the techniques, everything Thankyou! Also real quick how do you clean your cars? If you could let me know that would be much appreciated! Keep up the good work and keep doing what you do, thanks Charlie :)
Hey Ryan it's Daimon here, a thing to note is that a open cell foam will make the tire have a softer spongier feel giving it more grip. In general we only use open cell inserts in an outdoor setting generally only in DD's. As grip comes up and we go to either a reflex or bar tire we run the closed cell foam to mellow out the car and generate more corner speed because the tire isn't folding over in the corner..Anyways great video 👍🏻
use Shoe goo to glue the wheels: Reason #1) it doesn't care what residue is left on the tire or wheel,. if its on there it WILL stick! , 2) it doesn't spread out like CA glue, 3) it doesn't harden anything like CA and it leaves a rubbery residue which helps with side wall flex, 4) you can reuse the wheel easily when you wear the tire out, just apply a hair dryer and it will peel off.
Since watching your vids im saving on rims and foams with the ecetone trick👍 Now I'll be saving on glue by the look of this also👍👍 Great advice on foams. They're like air pressures really. Thanks a million.
Hi Ryan, I've been watching all your vids for some time. I like all of the elements you cover, from painting, to explaining all the setups and what they alter. I particularly like seeing you race with all the background filming, plus the last one I saw excepting this one about getting sponsorship with Jason R. I think my son in law Aidan Burke has been in contact with you about linking up on the BBT pod cast (big blue tent). Lots of guys over here in the UK have been following you since I told them about your link. We are all looking forward to hearing you. Keep up the good work. Tommy T
Tommy! Thanks for reaching out! It's cool to see support from so far away haha Whether I get sponsorship or not, I still love racing these cars and making videos about them. It's a genuine passion that I have had for a long time :) I talked with Aiden about podcast stuff and it sounds like it will be a good time!
Ryan Harris Hi Ryan, thanks for the courtesy of your reply. Like you, I love racing RC. For me I love the setup and building cars, I love the racing, and above all I love the banter.
I just finished my B64D and took it to practice....and spun the tires right off. LOL! I just got back into rc after about 24 years of being out and boy has it all changed so much. I could use some driving tips, taking these bigger jumps is really different.
He's now doing "driving tip" videos, where he breaks down what (a given driver) is doing right and wrong on various portions of the track. Very helpful stuff. Also, Australia's Ray Munday (AE rep) had some excellent videos that include a morning clinique, complete with dry-erase boards, then in depth track walks showing the best lines and strategies.
Thanks Ryan! I have been out of R/C racing since the 90's (life, kids and career) but life has slowed down, kids are grown and out and i own my own business so i have the time and desire to get back into the hobby and sport. Your videos sparked my interest and are very informative and well done. i have since decided to start slow and basic and bought a slash 2wD and so far all of the videos i have watched have applied in one form or another. My only crutch is understanding all the new options that come on the Traxxas pistol grip controls (everything was a bit simpler back in my day) do you have a video on how to use and adjust them? Thanks again for all the awesome videos you have done. Mike
Liked and subbed, all known knowledge to me. But, the support you give the hobby through this info is what matters. Plus you seem to be in the area of FL I frequently go to lol. Great stuff man, keep going with it!
Thanks for the info and sharing your experience... Associated people are just cool people ... Your vids are awesome... I take all you offer on board and have learnt tons... I'd like to see a vid on shock oil weight vs spring tension (springyness 😂) for different track surfaces, maybe the same vid could cover rear wing down force... If I get a vid about the content above, I'll cry like I'm at a Beiber concert. Cheers Ryan and keep the vids coming..
So, it’s a 61mm wheel, but Ryan your link goes to a 60mm tire. I was curious so I searched for a bit and found a ton of 61mm wheels for sale, but could not find any 61mm tires. Do they not make them anymore or is the 60mm tire intended to go on a 61mm wheel? Newb here just trying to understand all this. Thanks & love the videos.
Hey Ryan, would you consider punching a hole in the sidewall or tread of carpet buggy tires, or do you think it's only really applicable to dirt/clay tires? Thanks for all the wonderful content. Keep it coming - can't express how helpful it's all been.
Great and informative video. I have a redcat suspended truck that I have been building and now I have came to a sudden stop. I have a 60 amp ocday esc and a surpass 4370KV (9t) motor. It is wicked fast ,but on take off it glitches ,jerks, and shakes until u push it and then blast off. Any information would be greatly appreciated...
Do you glue the no prep drag tires the same way cause I got the proline mt and they r way harder then my other RC tires I haven't mounted them yet I don't want to mess them up lol
I use gorilla tape to stop my tires from ballooning no need for hole puncher before I put the tape on scuff the inside of the tire with sandpaper I use gorilla glue to old my tires together. It foams up a little but it can easily be cleaned up.
Hey Ryan why is it that most people doesn't recommend white foams anymore, isn't that was all there was before closed cell came out?seems they had traction with white foams back then.
How about drilling a little hole into the rim? Just thought of it. I think the hole in the tire could cause it to rip easier. Also, if you reuse the rims, then you only have to do it once.
Good vid however i put a hole on each side roughly 180 degrees from the hole but on the opposite side of tire seems to work an the dirt has 2holes to escape on both sides of the tire but awesome video
Hi Ryan, I recently found your channel and have been catching up on a lot of your awesome content. Do you reuse wheels when your tires wear out? If so what's the best way to remove glued on tires?
Hey Ryan. I know this is an old video, but in case you see it... every time i have glued tires, EVERY TIME, no matter how hard I try, i cannot get a balanced tire glued to the rim. I do it just in the same way you have shown, rolling it around, seating it on the wheel perfectly, check for any lumps... but, no bueno. Do you have a method? (I wonder what would happen if you were to spin it on a drill to make sure no single point is heavier with foam than the others?) It almost seems like the wheel itself is bent for at least one or two of every set I make. The tire seems to be mounted perfectly almost every time, but man, it wobbles like crazy once mounted and vibrates if on the rear... I don't get it! Also, dude, everything you make is fantastic, it shows that you do this sort of thing professionally. It's technically and stylistically perfect, and you are great on camera. And you're a rockstar on the track to boot! Your content is the best thing to happen to RC in ages. Thanks for your hard work and passion.
Personally I’ve caused a wobble before by using too much glue and having the glue collect in the foam. This forms a heavy spot in the foam. This can happen most easily with thin glue. Less is better. Another idea is to pre mount your tires and foams onto the rim for a while (overnight if you can) before gluing. This can help the tires conform to the shape of the wheel and can also help. Good luck.
Why in the earth would you make holes into rubber? O.o Best case you get dirt etc inside of your wheels and worst water, mud and other crap, or tires will rip apart, cause now there is weak point in the rubber. If you want to release pressure more than holes in the rim, then do more holes on the rim and put some electric tape over the hole. Tape will release if there is any drastic pressure build up, as its weaker than superglue and tape still keeps water and crap from getting inside the wheel. Why do i need to explain this to channel that has 5,4k subs? Of course i might be mistaken something, but please do enlighten me what that could be?
I just got a b64d and the guy i bought it from had it setup for carpet what tires and wheels should i buy for rough dirt track? and any other mods for carpet to rough dirt?
@@nicknoyb8067 Thanks Nick - I’m familiar with what it is. I’ve just seen people use the same 1 or two super shitty ones sold by the big online hobby stores or rebadged by your well-known hobby brands.
Cool video. It would be great if you explain to us in your future videos how you break in, clean and sauce your tires between each heat when you race. :)
Lighting ,?Can’t even tell , I guess to the little things that make a good vedio, what about alcohol to clean the oil off of the tire from the manufacturer I hade to put inserts into my old Koyoshos
i think it is sad that so-called off-road rc racing has degraded to the point where the surfaces the cars run on are so sanitized that it's ok to run with actual holes cut in the sidewalls of the tires , i doubt a car could make it a full lap on an old school off-road track with holes in its tires.....
The color of those wheels are clear foreshadowing of your sponsorship with TLR. Thank you for the help.

That's awesome man! Thanks for checking out my videos and putting the info to use. Hoping I can keep that flow of videos coming to you soon :)
I am looking at getting back into the hobby after 30 years, your videos are a massive help which I will put into practice once I buy my kit.
Second that notion but half the breaktime. Thanks for the help!
Where was this video 4 days ago when I was putting my tires together.
The agony!!!! Ryan thanks for the video!
Jonathan Naranjo sorry man! Hope they turned ok 👌
Great videos! My only complaint would be the vintage RC10 on the shelf in the background makes me drool.

I have good luck with j concepts goose bumps and flip outs on 2wd buggy on outdoor tracks. Try them out!
Hey,I would like to see a video on how you build your gear diffs and if you lube the gears in your transmission or run them dry
Dude thank you for the tire tip!!! Your videos are always best quality for clearness and I mean visual and audio A1 superb

Maybe get serious about racing bub

Interesting using Simple Green. I usually use alcohol myself.
I glue the insert to the wheel . On rears . Only
Thanks for the video, noob question, what are the holes in the side of the tires for?
U should do a video on c and d arm mounts..... still Trying to understand what u get when changing the pills....
I will definitely do this in the future! Thanks for stopping by :)
Great video Ryan Great tips too
Shadows Rc thanks dude!
What is the hole size? Thanks
Its in the wheel, but 40 mm

What is working or drying time of glue

Robert Tannenbaum great idea! Thanks 👍
Thanks for the tips Ryan'
Should I use tyre bands on front wheels with low profile tyre and no foams? Eg Schumacher cut staggers on 2wd
I just got schooled about inserts .. Thanks Ryan!
MrPageplayer hope it was helpful man! Haha
Hi Ryan, I recently found your channel and have been catching up on a lot of your awesome content. Do you reuse wheels when your tires wear out? If so what's the best way to remove glued on tires?

My thoughts as well. Are the holes in the wheels not good enough? What do you gain from holes in the tyres?
Depending on the 1/8you have an size of pin but you can change just the pin but make sure the shafts aren't bent then the work you will do is useless
You using thim or medium super glue?
why make holes on the side of the tire and not on the tread? for sucking water and dirt in..
I just got a b64d and the guy i bought it from had it setup for carpet what tires and wheels should i buy for rough dirt track? and any other mods for carpet to rough dirt?
I have the same 5 dollar hole 🕳 punch from HF
What do think would be best because my track is loose and bumpy
Try some double dees with the open cell inserts!
Ryan Harris alright thanks keep up the great videos.
Woah... where did you get that hole punch? Haven't seen that guy before. Looks nice!
It's a leather punch

Can I use window cleaner?
Hi....did you glue the entire bead all around, or just several spots?
If you watch, the glue spreads around the entire bead because of how thin it is. Just let it flow.
U want it all way around
A good method to stop ballooning of tires is to tape duck tape or gorilla tape in the inside of the tire.
I luv u

we balance our finished glued wheels with weights to have a better run.
In a nut shell for bashers like me, tire on wheel glue stick wheel
Kinda stinks that aka is no longer in business. I guess I'll be sticking with VP Pro.
Hey Ryan, what compound are you using? Your track sounds similar to my track down here in Coral Springs.
Also want to point out; a squirt of electric motor cleaner to remove dust. And balance those junkers.
Can I house Zapp glue

I forgot to holed the rear tyres 😭😭
Make sure to spend your money on tire bands because regular rubber bands don't work
Nice sir U don’t balance your tires and wheels
Buy premounted Schumacher. Haha
