    I LOVE the fact that I'm not the only RC channel brave enough to dive into physics equations mid-video! Great job! I loved the practical demo at the end, too. 😎

    If you're glueing your own wheels you can also pre-balance them. Before you glue your tires experiment with the placement of the tires on the rim by spinning the tire on the rim and looking for the best-balanced spot. Often you can get them very close without adding any weight.

    Awesome review with quite a scientific approach. One aspect that was missed is the out of round dimensions which was quite apparent in some of the tyres. This would have a similar affect to traction even with the tyres well balanced.

    • @RCJuice
      @RCJuice  6 месяцев назад +2

      I considered addressing the out-of-round issue but decided against complicating the discussion further, given the already nuanced nature of the balancer's problems. But you are absolutely right about it. Even during the planning phase, I suspected it might be an issue and thought I should check it before even attempting to balance the weight distribution. Then, when I did put it on the sander first, I was pretty surprised by how much it was wobbling. I tried sanding it a little, hoping it might help somewhat, but it did not do much. At the end of the day, I had two thoughts. One is that the tire is soft, and maybe under the weight of the car, it will have a less pronounced asymmetry. Another is that the ballooning of the tire might also have an evening-out effect. However, I did not investigate either hypothesis further. Perhaps I will revisit this in the future.

    • @kyhonjan
      @kyhonjan 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@RCJuice Yes I agree. It would add unnecessary complications to the results and may even water down the true potential of the tyre balancer . The out of round issue could be more of the tyre manufacturer quality and would distract the purpose of the review itself. Great Job.

    Something to note, inserts can shift resulting in an imbalance. Check tire/insert/wheel balance as necessary.

    The 1st wheel you balanced was so out of true balancing it seams accademic. I think your right about glueing the tires your self - if you balence before glueing you can rotate the tire on the rim to move the heavy / high spot realtive to the wheel - Full size tires have both marked with paint dots - and some wheels have there low spot marked so you can alighn the tires high spot with the rims low

    I think this has potential for RC airplanes, balancing props and in particular spinners. It would need some design changes, but the technology is surely transferable?

    • @RCJuice
      @RCJuice  6 месяцев назад +1

      Interesting Idea. I would think the tech principles would transfer, although I am not sure how would you make the adjustments on a prop. Is this something people currently do with airplane props?

    • @Lipo-man
      @Lipo-man 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@RCJuice Yes - definitely. If you google rc prop balancer you will see the low tech solution we all use. It works fine for props, but in my experience not at all well for spinners - which are much more wheel-like…

      Sorry to hear that, I assume you made sure that the shaft is empty at the beginning of the calibration process and you only attach the adapter when it prompts to do that.. I guess there might be still unresolved mystery about this.

    Nice how big if a tire will it take? Looking to balance 1/8 scale foam tires.. BSR

    • @RCJuice
      @RCJuice  6 месяцев назад +1

      Cannot say for sure, but it is made for 1/0 and 1/8 scale with the separate adapter. The clearance from the center of the shaft to the bottom plate is about 60mm, so that would be the max possible radius of a tire.

      It does not look like it's going to fit. The clearance from the shaft to the bottom plate is about 60mm. Unless you saw off part of the bottom plate and let the tire hang of the table's edge... :)
