Before you start modifying your radio. Like others are saying i would recommend the MT12 RadioMaster. It's a very nice radio with Long Range, Multiple Protocols, EdgeTx Programming, Receivers are extremely Tiny and Reasonably priced at 20 bucks for ELRS. With And without external antennas. Receivers with No Antenna can probably still go over a kilometer. 10 Inputs, 16 Outputs, and Unlimited Model Memory. MT12 is Not just another Radio. Can't wait to open mine on Christmas day. Lol
It depends what you're using them on & what result you want. They're good for on road stuff because they don't balloon & they'll give you a full contact patch with the road & better handling.. But not so great for off road bashers (Trucks/Truggies) because they don't ballon & give you air control.! They work well on rally cars & short course trucks as long as you're not looking to do mega jumps & flips.! 😉 That's been my experience anyway.. I've tried a few different brands over the years & my favourite so far are the JetKo ones.!.. They're not super expensive & last a long time.! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYBODY & BEST WISHES FROM SCOTLAND 🏴 🙏 ❤️ 📻 🕹️ 🔋 🚗 🚖 🚕 🚔 🚚 🚙 🚘 🚓 🚒 🚑 🚐 🚎 🚤 🚁 🛩️
The new Dumbo RC looks nice for sure. But the MT12 4 in 1 can bind to Dumborc, Spectrum, Traxxas, MJX, FMS, ETC.. Which would reduce the # of controllers you need in theory down to just 1.
This. It also has unlimited model memory. I run every one of my trucks on the MT12 now and like you mentioned as it binds to so many protocols you can pick up Dumbo x6f receivers or flysky receivers for really cheap and bind to those. The MT12 blows everything else away. its the only transmitter anyone with multiple RC cars will ever need and highly customisable with edgetx software.
If the aftermarket jumped on the machete id be all over it. I like the scale and look of it a lot! Its too bad a higher end brand didn't come out with this. Guarantee LOTS of people would pay double for a higher end version
So far, I'm 21 for 21 with the advent vids. Great work. About tires, I run an Arrma K6s and use the stock copperhead 2s for general bashing. For on road hooning and speed runs I'm using Sweep belted Roadcrushers. They're smaller than the copperhead, so I geared up to a 24t pinion and got 66.2mph. That's the biggest I could get on, so I've got a smaller spur on order. Anyway, you need tires to balloon a bit for better air control when bashing. Belted for on road to maintain contact with the tarmac. Cheers.
RadioMaster MT 12 has so many advantages over the Dumbo or any other controller. It will bind to anything. Superb software, Edge TX, allows for any set up. It's also really nice to have the same controller on all my models, the feel, the switches always in the same place.
In my limited experience - you can push the gearing higher but you need to change the spur gear at the same time as the pinion. Also, I think that stuttering is something to do with the ESC setting - It looks like it's "cogging" - you can stop this by either using a battery that can deliver higher amps or set the current limit in the ESC a bit lower. I could be wrong
Good evening Sir Phillip the III of RC-Lancaster Wee Wee. May I offer you a cuppa tea? lol. The problem I have had with belted tires even good ones like Proline is they are badly balanced. Also if you over-rev them with loose diffs and they spool out the belts snap. Then they make a loud flap flap flap sound when jumping and revving or during top speed they will flap out of control. As long as you don't over-spool them they are ok. Still never balanced very well and is super heavy.
Radio master MT12 review pls, EdgeTX and ELRS will surprise and probably confuse in equal amounts, I was wondering how you were gonna fit the promoto in one of your Christmas boxes 😉
Awesome mods and review, Phil! 😃 But you just can't compare this radio with the Radiomaster MT12... I'm not saying this radio is bad, not at all, but... Well, you have 2 versions of the MT12: with ExpressLRS radio link (people flew more than 100km in distance using this radio link) or with a 4 in 1 module... Which means you can bind to almost any receiver. FlySky, FrSky, probably to DumboRC receives, etc... And you still can add an external module as well, so you can have any of the 2 versions, get a module of... Well, anything, really. Even Dragon Link! And connect to it and use. That not to talk about the firmware it uses, EdgeTX... It's basically OpenTX, but better. And you can find tutorials to set up anything for it, probably in many different ways even. You know? So, this radio should do something around 300 to 600m range, while the MT12 with ExpressLRS could do 4km in 25mw. And it can go up to 250mw, if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊 And happy holidays!
yea, him saying this dumborc radio seems more modern than the mt12 sounded almost ignorant, would love for him to check out the mt12, he could use any car he could dream of with it. The dumborc very well might be a lot easier to use at first, but edgetx gives unlimited possibilities
This is anther great video. I always enjoy the onboard camera shots. The Method tires looked good. it will be interesting to see how they perform on dirt. The radio offers a lot functions for the price. I have heard you and others being very positive about their products. That thing really store up some grass.
Been using that new Dumborc since day one (pre ordered) absolutely fantastic and a great price, already had Dumborc receivers in everything just hope they update it for more than 10 model memory.
What do you know about "Radiolink" brand transmitters? I must have a gyro installed in my overgeared F1 racers. Everyone knocks Dumbo gyro compatibility however. Cheers. 👍
That truck is really pretty good. How much are the receivers for that handset? I'm still pondering what handset to get next. I have a Spektrum DX4R that I've got upwards of 20 models saved on, great handset too, and a couple Flysky cheapos with about 10 on each, their limit. I was considering the Noble.
In regards to the Magnitron and the future summer bash….how about some Longer HD shocks if you can find some up front ? I put earplugs in my center diff in the machete6s I do run 8s but where you mount the motor you only have limited space so it’s hard to find an 8s motor to fit.
I really want one of those DumboRC DDF-350's. I nearly ordered one a couple of weeks ago but decided to wait until early next year when the post is back to normal. I mainly use the DumboRC X6 with the X6FG. Got them in loads of my cars. I also like the Spektrum DX3.
Yes, it’s seems a decent radio for the money. I know everyone’s saying the Radiomaster MT12, and I’m sure it’s really good, but this is also good especially for the price
Hi Phil, I’ve just received the DDF350. I only have a Corally Muraco and just got the radix 6, with the standard transmitter adjusting the steering endpoints is tedious. With the 350 it’s so easy. Took a while to figure out getting the gyro to work but done it now (I have very little experience with rc’s). There is no decent manual that explains all the features of the transmitter. Could you possibly do a vlog that explains how to set up the gyro? I’ve managed to use the CH3 button to switch between gyro on/off and channel 6 to turn it up or down. Not sure I’ve done properly and haven’t tested yet but it seems above controller. Love the channel btw. Hope you and the family have a great Christmas 🎄 👍🏻
These videos have been great. Love the Christmas advent Callender theme. Did you ever see the movie "A Christmas Story" from America 1983? Happy Holidays.

Yes. I have been having trouble with it right now. RUclips is messing around with how it functions yet again and does that every two or so weeks on average. I have noticed there have been over 20 changes already to RUclips throughout this year from thumbnail sizes to how everything changes from how it has been displayed previously.
