Imagine a random "upgrade the flood," where every run you get in a different random car, with the upgrades from the previous car carried over to the new random car.
that'd be super interesting to see. with the added chance being that an upgrade for some vehicles may turn out to be downgrades for others. such as removing the rear hatch from a van, which translates to removing the trunk from a car, which means no wing upgrade available which, downforce and grip to the road is the most important part of this challenge. interesting interesting
Unfortunately that would significantly increase the downtime between rounds because people would have to reapply all their upgrades between rounds and figure out which upgrades they had are not possible on the new vehicle, then sync all the vehicles.
@@theminerboy5694 Amy does do a lot of custom stuff though, so i'm sure she could figure out a way to make a custom script that would automatically do all that stuff for them, as well as having predefined alternatives to incompatible upgrades
I guess the advantage of Ewan's upgrade of removing the doors on the right side is so that the family sitting in the back of the MPV have a better view of the sea when they fall off the cliff.

A twist for upgrade the flood would be to turn on the odometer like you do for driven till destruction. Then at the end of every round you reset your distance after adding it to a total distance sheet. This way it favors consistency and slight team work over being first necessarily. Team Survive the Flood: If you wanted you could do a team version where you have a set amount of power over 3 vehicles. The team with the best total distance against the flood being the winner.
@@_MjG_Fair enough. I wouldn’t want them to not do this version either. I think there’s more premise with the team version as they have done quite a few team videos. This was an amazing round of UtF, great driving from all of you, and some standard FailRace bumps and crashes mixed in. The longer format was a lot of fun too!
Yes, but it wasn't all-wheel drive. I think the no 4x4 rule meant no all-wheel drive vehicles. In any case Alex's starting car was 6x4, it had six wheels, four of which were driven.
Idea on how to fix balancing of this mode (because currently, the strategy would be to stay in the back the whole time and get all the upgrades until the last race where you can win): Have a points system and have the competition be only like 5 races and in each of those 5 races 1st place gets 3 points, 2nd place gets 2 points and 3rd place gets 1 point.
Tbh, the best strategy for "winning" is taking the best base car (usually a modern one) with already good suspension and brakes, with decent power options. I don't think anyone was trying to manipulate the results mind, just that the starting cars are uneven to begin with
I feel so bad for Stevie ! They had the posibility to get to the top, they even got so close and than they just had bad luck and got stuck in the traffic, it was so painfull to watch.
I may be wrong but I believe I saw somewhere that it simulates the water pressure by increasing certain gravity figures. And yeah it’s really cool that it does that
Beam also simulates when you drive at high enough altitude, the power output will be reduced because of the lack of oxygen and really high performance engines can even just lock up when turned off.
@@SpaceGood.Also it simulates the engine just breaking when it gets too cold. On the map they are using if you start with an unheated engine and turn off the engine, it will refuse to start after a few minutes.
Use a point system to make it more competitive. First 3 get minimal points every round. And then the one that finally reaches the end will get a lot of points
I feel like tires and suspension should be one upgrade for the 4 tires and one for the 4 shocks/coilovers, because who only upgrades one axle at a time IRL ? Brakes are another one, as when you upgrade the brakes, you would usually upgrade all four corners of the vehicle. Doors could be one upgrade for 2 doors, ie. 1 upgrade for the front doors and one for the back doors. Hood (or bonnet) and trunk at one upgrade each is fine. Otherwise, I really enjoy this type of content. Someone suggested a points system in the comments, and I was saying the exact same thing to myself as I was watching the video. So the order you finish would be based on actually getting to the finish, first and foremost, but those who don't manage to do it would be ranked based on the points they accumulated throughout the event. Anyway, it's just a thought.
I feel this format could do with some modification of the rules. I feel like there's no real incentive to win any race, because it puts you in the last place AND gets you no upgrades. I think for the mayhem to be more fun it would be cool if the placement on the grid was determined by the order you finished in the last race (1-3 first row, 4-6 2nd row, etc.), but also your placement dictates how much you may increase your power-to-weight ratio (1st place by 0.01, 2nd place by 0.2, ... 13th player by 0.13) etc. I makes keeping track of the value a bit more difficult but it keeps the incentive to win while making the cars in the back faster, causing more overtaking.

As someone not all that well up on motor racing can someone please explain why slick tyres are the choice on icy roads? It seems extremely counter productive to me but I'm obviously missing something.
The track itself is mainly asphalt, and because the flood was relatively quick and the course is very windy and tricky, slicks are the best overall option for being able to handle the course. :)
The slick tyres aren't good for icy roads, but when there is more clear tarmac than road covered in snow or ice then slick tyres should be an advantage as you should make up more time on the clear tarmac than you lose having to slow for the snowy and icy sections.
It's not. The slicks are really good on the asphalt, but they struggle more than even regular tires do on ice. The problem is that if they prioritize grip on dirt and ice, then they sacrifice grip on the asphalt, which is what most of the track is made of.
