From a NA engine at 500rpm? I could only imagine a 10 liter diesel putting out similar numbers NA. I think if the goal was to make a very inefficient engine he failed. This dude doesn't seem to know a whole lot about how engines work. He says he wants high rpm, then sets the valve springs all the way soft, then cant figure out why it wont rev. Also said 6 carbs wouldn't work, why wouldn't they? The fuel delivery is driven by vacuum. He definitely can say some key words though.
@isaiahking4165 yeah the valve springs pissed me off too. Also the rpm doesn't matter so much for torque, it's horsepower that is torque*rpm. Torque is generated from the force of the piston moving down in the bore, so from a massive displacement and stroke length, a large torque number at a low rpm makes a lot of sense. You also have to remember it is nitromethane, those engines on average have a crazy displacement ratio of something like 90lb-ft/lb. From a 6.8 liter v12? Man bro that should be about 500000 horsepower. And it makes 900. Also if you watched the video to the end you would know that it actually is so ridiculously inefficient that the torque output becomes negative in the games samples for above 2000 rpm.
@@isaiahking4165 also not really a 10 liter diesel, maybe, but really all you want is a longer stroke length for a torque output at a lower rpm like that. Basically how I learned it in school, oversquare engines will be more rev happy and produce a higher horsepower than torque number. -- an under square engine will produce more torque than horsepower, and be less rev happy because the piston has to physically travel a longer distance so it is actually moving faster and under more load than an oversquare engine at the same RPM. You can also think about your connecting rod as a lever, the longer it is the more it multiplies the combustion force at the large end of the rod, with the same amount of fuel/air by volume (as long as you discount that you will need more energy to overcome the extra weight and inertia of the larger rotating assembly.) It's best to learn about the principles of mechanical physics in an ideal scenario, no friction or weight etc, atleast in the most basic form. If you don't care to do any math.
cam profile is soo low that when it enters high rpm it’s limiting itself with injecting wayyyy too late therefore you get no power and beamng is right there, its negative just like if you coast your engine but worse bugged out a little bit but it seemed okay xD
I wasn't gonna say anything because maybe beamng doesn't make sense and these engines will work, but there was absolutely no point in setting the redline to 12k in automation because the engine will literally die if it has zero torque, it can't spin itself or any accessories, not even in neutral. So you essentially have a redline of 2-3k like both of you ended up with, you could've made it more interesting if you either actually tried to make it weird at super low revs, or tried to make a super high reving car that makes say 30ftlbs at redline at 500 at 1k rpm
Indeed, lots of ways to go about it, but we had no clue how the game would behave as it was our first time doing something like this! Maybe we can revisit the idea in the future with similar concept but a little more sense :)
I build 153cc engine(line 3) with 104hp, but I don't use Huge turbo. Huge turbos is not working with small volume. But if I use nitrometh, this engine can already produce ~300hp UPD: 353-362hp with peak torque on 10900-11500rpm. Useless engine, but fun)
The sound is probably there, but with the engine design and ultra low revs its probably just too quiet to hear. Superchargers are coming to Automation in the Al-Rilma update due out sometime before the end of the year, as well as a bunch of updated calculations which should make it an even more authentic car-builder with more potential for interesting builds.
Sets valves and lifters to 0 and then talks about wanting it to rev high, immediately shows lifters failure and knock and his solution is to start moving random exhaust sliders. Idk if he has no idea what he's doing or if he just turned his brain off for a minute, but it's tough o watch.
If you edit the rpm torque hp file you need to put engine sound files for those extra rpms also as it was not generated from automation to beamNG export.
I'd love to see another sleeper build vid, but only using tiny European cars from 20+ years ago (Peugeot 106, Renault 5, Volkswagen Golf, etc.). I'd love to see how big of an engine y'all can cram into a tiny fwd car :3
NYC was the first time I recall hearing that comment made 😅 They are undeniably fast cars, I just think the comment came from someone who considered the murica hell yeah 8.3L V10 to be quite excessive for what much smaller displacement engines could also accomplish 🤷♂️ to each their own right haha.
Love these videos! Yall make me laugh 😂. I think doing a 2000+ HP challenge with maybe random challenges and/or an obstacle corse would be pretty entertaining. Like too much power, not enough space type deal 😅
Here's an idea for you that I actually tried recently. I don't know if the game will let you get away with actually making a car like this. Try building a competitor for the Pigeon for title of wimpiest car in BeamNG. I was able to make a 2 seater coup with an I3 that was both barfing and the other end ejecting a whopping 5hp and 5 lb-ft.....Automation kept saying a critical problem was the engine was too underpowered for the vehicle. I had to compromise and bump it up to about 30 ish hp and 42 ish lb-ft. But the competition won't be time restricted like this, but what is the weakest engine you can make that will work in a vehicle that will still run? Second idea is kind of the opposite of the sleeper idea. So a sleeper is a car that looks normal and sounds, generally, normal but is actually tuned and modded to be a high performing machine. Make fakers. Cars that look fast and sound ungodly loud and powerful, but have relatively normal performance. The source of that idea is a bit of a riddle. What idles like a Cessna, screams like a banshee, and has 6 cylinders? I don't know either, but I apparently built it. Like it hurts. I'm nearly getting headaches from listening to it, it's so stink'n loud. I'm going to have to join your discord and share it with you because like I was trying to go for performance V6 turbo and it just screams at me. I'm tempted to rename it from the current Lynx Turbo to something that pays homage to the XF-84H Thunderscreech (aka the Mighty Ear Banger.)
Automation generates engine sounds based on things like engine type and rpm and exports those sound files to beamng, if you go above what's generated there's no sound files for the game to pull from since the redline was set low by the game to save the engine from unaliving itself
Shrek is coming for you! Unfortunately he had a slomo potion before... 😆The car itself doesn't look bad for 15 minutes though. A little bit more effort in design/tuning with a proper engine could turn out pretty good I would assume. Should be pretty stable because it has a low and wide body.
Bro, at around 1:40 you say "to much torque makes it undriveable" but then you give it more stroke.... Do you know how engines work? longer stroke (longer conrods) = more torque (and mostly lower revs), bigger bore & shorter stroke = higher revs/lower torque. But in case of a 6.0L V12 "low" torque is quite the understatement :D
@darealkosmo you very welcome😀 if you got some minutes to spare, build 2 exact same engines but change only the bore/stroke, so the displacement, compression, cam profile etc stays the same and look at the results😉 but PRO TIPP: dont use long rods and too much timing because that will bend your con-rods and they make you a nice windows in your block to see inside😅 please dont ask me how i know🤣 it still heards
I would say you guys should build factory engines but with a twist like k24 but make it a V8 or take an Ls-x and make it a straight 4. Stuffs like that! Aspiration to be determined;)
yo, you should actually make dedicated CVT race cars... actually no, nevermind, i just remembered that the noise would probably make god dump all of humanity in a black hole though if you make it them idle speed engines, it wouldn't be too bad
Wish you knew how to read the table on the right to know whats wrong with the engine..... shorter stroke increases RPM along, longer stroke decreases RPM
You should do a all around challenge set a hp limit then both build a car that in theory could do anything drag, track race, hill climb ect. Another idea would be a budget challenge both have X amount of money to build a car and engine then do some basic test a manufacturer would do stopping distance, drag, handling anything you can think of.
