If you do this again I'd keep the point system. Under the original premise there was literally no benefit to finishing first unless you could make it to the top and there was a double penalty. Technically that means you can make your car practically undriveable with your initial upgrades, ensuring you continue to get upgrades and good track position in subsequent rounds. With a points system there is some incentive to keep the car manageable throughout.
Imo, this is a much better version of survive the flood. Probably better for filming as well, 'cuz you can just set and forget the flood rising speed and just upgrade the cars until someone can beat the flood to the top? Idk, feels like it should be easier to film 😅
power is not always the way to go, control on this track would be a better thing to go for, i reckon 400hp with way more control would have been better upgrades

(In case anyone was curious as to what I mean above, when it comes to hill climbs the thing they are aiming for is basically a time attack, time attacks are normally a measurement of your average speed not your highest speed, this means in track cars and hillclimb modifications the overall goal to be faster up a hill is to get a higher average speed, including better cornering, better acceleration, better rough terrain speed, better elevation dampening etc. for example the average speed of Fail Race actually went down after the 650hp modification not up because the car was less controllable and couldn't keep its power down a more sensible change would have been the suspension upgrade like he pondered prior to the ECU that and better Aero would have resulted in a better overall vehicle that averaged a higher speed throughout the track rather than just in the smoother straights which make up a rather small portion of the track)

This is particularly brilliant, because you get those exciting stretches where the cars are barely above the flood in way more places as they upgrade their way towards being able to reach the top.

I have a weird idea, that would require a different video format, but may be cool. Every race 1st and last place automatically gain 1 upgrade. Then everyone can discuss amongst each other strategy and everyone anonymously gifts someone 1 upgrade and then race and repeat the cycle.
