❤phil i know you already know this but... If you put the ramp in the centre of the white lines on the grass it makes it a lot easier to hit the ramp in the centre
I made a super cheap ramp out of Corrugated Fluted Board, (real-estate agents use it as the for sale signs when you sell your house.)Any way long story short you can usually get it free second hand, it cuts with a knife or scissors, you just screw a couple of timber supports in & bam, you have a light weight stong ramp, at your desired width. No more missing the target Phill. 😅
I have built one with a corrugated flute board and my Arma Kraton blew right threw it. I'm sure it's good with 1/10 scale but my 1/8th and 1/5th blew it to pieces. Maybe I should have doubled up on the ramp face.
@FarmerFpv yeah I have an outcast 4s, my neighbor has a 3s granite, single layer did blow right through, double layer is indestructible, but still low weight.
16:01 👀👀 👏👏 nailed the front flip with a twist reverse backflip!?!?!?!? Or at least something like that. 😂😂 Big Rock for the win imo! Shocks are a needed upgrade if you're really bashing the Big Rock. Great video Tomley sucks about the GoPro, I use the subscription service for cloud storage, device replacements and discounts 👊👊👍👍
Should have made your own ramp, the wood likely to have cost you a lot less than half the price of that mess. Would have been correct size you wanted as well.
That ramp is JUNNNK Phil! You know Ramps are easy to build, you have an impact, so all's you really need is a jigsaw (very easy to use). For $175 you could build multiple ramps and choose the angles. There's videos all over YT, it would also make a good video for your channel. You worked on helicopters, building ramps will be fluffy cake.
A while ago I found a portable collapsible ramp called killaramp on the bay. To me it looks like they were built from snow plows cut in half or similar. They had two different widths, luckily I got one of each. Since I bought mine I cannot find them anymore for sale anywhere but the video is still here on youtube if you search. I've hit mine full speed with a 6S Kraton and it loves it.
@anthonysemaan8362 in my experience the big rock is more durable than the rival MT10 which by itself is quite durable rc car. I bash my rc cars quite hard. the 3S line is very durable.
SB must stand for 'Sneaky Buggers'; hope they improve their QC going forward. Bit like burger chain photos of the food vs the squashed mess you actually get! Thanks for standing up & showing up what is a good basic product but needs some proper QC.
Use Yacht Varnish on that wood ramp ⛵ it'll presurve it for your Grandchildren to play with your toys.. Crikey Tomly doing some Bashing, well done good vid...That black colour is called Gun Metal, I thought you'd know seeing you worked for the RAF... 🤠
I’ m a big fan of the MT-10! I absolutely love that truck and own one myself Thanks to the Rc Elf, but this Maverick has captured my interest lately and I think out of this bunch was my favorite of the 3. Really fun video Phil! Sorry you broke you go pro and hope you have a spare or 2 laying around! Have a great weekend my friend!😎✌🏼
Im a big fan. Watch every vid and have right back to the garage days.....but..... it feels like a some of the vids are getting a bit similar... ie lets either take it down the skatepark and launch it or in this case a ramp or rip it up and down the dirt and it does X speed on Y cells. Dunno. Just sharing my opinion and still very much a big fan of the channel. Would love to see some build and mod vids (the huge truck is very interesting for example) or what about a top gear style challange.... £100 ebay challange youtuber race.. i realise coming up with ideas AND keeping up the volume of content for us lot is hard. You do a great job. I suppose thinking about it is im asking for my cake (regular content) and eating it (new and interesting ideas)😊 Come on Phil sort it out lol
This year I've decided to do less videos, but take more time making them. I'ver also started putting some stuff over on the 2nd channel ( www.youtube.com/@tomley_rc ) which normally would have been on here. So the 'mix' of videos its not as much as it usually it. Although, if you look at my last 10 videos... there is still a little variety
@@TomleyRC hi Phil. Very true i did just look back at the vid list to see if i was talking out my back end and there certainly is variety. Maybe im just anti bash lol 🙂 anyway keep up the good work and thanks for the quick reply. One thing i do welcome in any vid is your good comentry on the handling, i tend to find a much bigger difference in how cars handle vs speed and even durability ( most are pretty good on both these days) i tend to find thats the biggest fun factor for me anyway when you have a nice handling car and some are much better than others
This is why I only buy Raha Ramps. They are designed and built in the USA and you can jump your full-size motocross bike off them. The prices are also good for how tall and wide the ramps are. They send you to the moon. The guy is a professional FMX rider who designs the ramps.
Our fix for the ramp we built was to carpet it with exterior boat deck carpeting (looks like short, fake grass) and staple it down with a length running off the entry of the ramp, replacing the metal lip. It seemed to greatly reduce the shock of first hitting the ramp and gave beautifully consistent behavior. Really fun video to watch, cheers!
Might be fun to see a Phil cam picture in picture deal. We see you lift the controller and your expression, and the og shot! Great video as usual. Thanks for sharing.
I built a few ramps in my time and still have two of them, they are almost double the width and cost 30 bucks material each... the seven year olds love them, as they are almost neutral, when you buld up speed bravely and just coast over them: The trick was to take a cardboard-copy of the shape your favourite jump at the skatepark has. You can do it!
I thought it was a great test. All three performed well. The HPI di very well. I was thinking before the the jumps that you are landing on wet ground which will be soft and nothing will break. That wasn't the case. II wonder of the wet ground grabbed the trucks when they landing and caused some things to break. Some of the landings were at odd angles. I like the plastic skateboard jumps. They are easy to store, no screws to come loose and they don't rot. This was a simple video, but a lot of fun. RIP go pro.
The big rock may have jumped the furthest, but IMO it performed the worst of all 3 which kinda surprised me. Plus it broke. The winner of this particular bashing session IMO was the Quantum. 🙌🏼
This was bloody brilliant Phil, sorry for the misfortune of absolutely whipping out the go pro ouch! I’m definitely guilty of laughing very hard when that happened 🤦♂️😂! Very entertaining shootout!
I designed, laser cut, formed and built my own ramp out of 2mm aluminium at my workplace with the kind permission of my boss. It's an awesome bit of kit and I even included some detachable grass spikes.
I have the same question. I just got in to the hobby, full rookie here, and I think my GP would be too heavy for what I have. At least 2 heavy for jumps.
Hahaha I see a bit of Kev coming out in you. I think you are starting to feel the phrases "when in doubt, air it out!!!" 😅😂 That was a very touching send off of the gopro. This was your biggest "full send" production. Also, did I miss the final installment of the apocalypse train/monster truck or is it still in the works? I'm looking forward to see that thing in its full glory crawling over something. Then shelling a zombie encampment. lol
leave THAT up to KT...but I was thinking he could have done the run up on the asphalt and do the landing on the grass....but then if he missed the ramp he'd have the solid wooden bollards to deal with....
I have all 3 trucks & luv them all, the stand out for me though is the new Quantum2. The differences between this new Quantum2 & the old one it replaces is night & day, durability is off the scale now. Well done HPI, hoping to see more future models from them.
I sold my big rock when I got my Mt10, because I was sick of the shocks and drive shafts breaking, the shocks pulled the rods out on the slightest roll over without bashing or jumping,
My cousin has a farm in upstate Michigan and I run my Arrma through the cow fields. The cows love the change in their day. The only down fall is cleaning all the cow shit off the car afterwards. I have to keep that car in the garage.
Hey Phil! I just wanted to extend my thanks for the videos you put out, I just ordered my first "Hobby grade?" RC the ARRMA Senton 2WD with battery and charger included, $280 CAD (just over £160)! Without your videos I wouldn't have ever considered spending close to that, I hope it will be as much fun to run and work on as you make it
Hey Phil... Interesting video.. I have a new'ish BigRock and on its 2nd run out I hit a rock head on. My rear right shock also came apart, it looked identical to yours. Thing is, when I stripped the shock, there was no rubber piston in the tube, and the nut was off the end of the shock shaft. The shock tube was undamaged, the shaft had just pulled out. Arrma QC??? I did contact Arrma, but they didnt seem interested.. Would be interesting to see if its the same thing on yours though!
Why are we not surprised you had the most problems with the Big Rock! We have had many issues with the shocks on ours (and other issues all over). And the cheapest car took the least damage, that will be our favorite
I am just from one year in this hobby, a couple of your videos i watched enough for me to start this hobby, This hobby is practiced by the number of fingers on one hand, so every single thing i want to buy it i must to make online order outside my country, i hope i can win one of those cars, Best regards

That was fun. The jump just wasn't quite wide enough. It limited your ability to control them in the air I think. I've had that problem.

Let's take a moment to recognize how stylishly the Armma prevented your Gopro from overheating.

He’s on a football pitch full of perfectly straight white lines. You go get your twine and set it all up while I just move the ramp a couple of foot
