I don't know if Andrea was ever a teacher for a living, but she certainly possesses the patience and understanding to excel at being one.
I totally agree with where I think she was going with pronunciation at the end. For me personally as an English speaker, I'm probably a little better/faster at reading Spanish than German, but more comfortable pronouncing German than Spanish (it's dry and cold up north here a lot, the r's don't always want to roll easily). In addition to English being a Germanic language, my genes are probably more predisposed to the mouth shapes for German than they are for Spanish.
Wow she definitely has teacher vibes! I could see her being the teacher that students like and respect.
Really like their dynamic. Would be so funny if they made this same video but with someone from Andalucía/Murcia, as Andrea is speaking with what you would call a "neutral" Spanish accent. We really have a thicker accent in the south.
As a British man living near to Torrevieja, I try to describe the local accent in this part of Valencia as having a large flat stone sitting on the back of the tongue at all times. With love, obviously.

@@alexisstoriesd8311 Aw, thank you! And don't worry, conjugations and grammatical gender can seem terrifying, but they're not that hard. Actually that is what makes the language beautiful and expressive, because, if you didn't know, Spanish is one of the most expressive and meaningful languages in the world.
Depending on your mother tongue it can be easier or more difficult, but if you make an effort you will be able to learn it. I believe in you and wish you luck! 🤞

In Spain we have English as a subject since we enter the educational system as a 3 years old 😅 and then in what USA calls Middle and High school we have to study two other languages, English as an obligatory subject and another one that we can choose between German, french Italian and Portuguese (it depends if your school offer them or not, the most common one is french)
Every middle school and high-school in usa has Spanish, Spanish is spoken by 10% of usa. Some states like Texas California Florida Spanish is spoken by 30%+....

@@hufflelix7296 en mi instituto era francés o informatica, jamas entendi la razon de esto ya que no tiene nada que ver una con la otra y a mi me hubiera gustado estudiar las dos, además de eso estaba el valenciano, que era opcional pero sin poder elegir otra cosa, es decir, si decidías no hacer esas clases te ponían un profesor aparte con el que no hacías nada, solo ver peliculas o hacer deberes de otras asignaturas.. lo mismo pasaba en religión. No se si ésto estaba así de mal hecho solo en la comunidad valenciana (vivo en Alicante) o si el sistema educativo es así de pocho en todos lados
Aca en argentina es un poco diferente, el ingles sigue siendo el idioma que se aprende en todo momento, pero en la mayoria de escuelas fuera de la capital de buenos aires no se enseña otro idioma, salvo ciertas comunidades con muchos habitantes italianos, alemanes, galeses o franceses
Well, it's not compulsory everywhere. At least in Catalonia, you can learn Catalan, Spanish, and English during your education and nothing more, and it is not strange at all. But I agree with you that the most common one is definitely French.

Spanish and English share quite a number of words because of Latin and French influence on the English language so sometimes an English-speaking person can grasp the meaning of a few instructions in Spanish as in this case.

@@stephanedumas8329 I agree with you. English is more similar to German in terms of grammar. That’s why a German or a Norwegian or a Dutch finds it easier to learn English. But English’s lexicon is heavily influenced by Latin. So it’s a weird mix (if you can call it that) lol.

Having basic knowledge of the language like Shannon does that’s how! My impression as an US outsider it borders Mexico and Shannon is from the south I’m guessing more southerners would have varied knowledge of Spanish the more closer to the US/Mexican border.

But, u.s. is more diverse so I would agree yes she looks like she could be from Europe, but U.S has a lot of European decent. (My English is not great I apologize)

Depends. I am born and raised in Miami. Miami is a Spanish speaking city, so 60% are Spanish speakers and Americans.
I am trying to learn Spanish using Duolingo and they teach a different Spanish; and if they speak fast I am lost. I have to slow them down. Any advice?

When Americans say "I know some Spanish, I learned in High School", it means they don't know Spanish.
Viví en EUA y varios decían eso que menciono y al final no me entendían ni siquiera las frases más básicas dentro de una conversación.
It depends on where you are in America. People in Miami speak more Spanish than English to be honest same with San Diego. As they have direct access to native Spanish speakers from Latin America whereas people up north usually end up interacting with second generation Latin Americans.
@@adjudicator4766 Definitely. I lived in San Diego until my early teens and most people I knew were bilingual or had a high proficiency and I’m not just talking just immigrants. When I went to Miami most people who spoke to me in the street, in restaurants and so on did so in Spanish. But I will say in California and other parts of the USA where the majority of Spanish speakers are of Mexican heritage unless you look mestizo then people don’t assume you speak Spanish and will talk crap about you right in front of you. Whereas in Miami there are Spanish speakers from different racial backgrounds so what you look like isn’t as much of a factor. People in Miami just assume I speak Spanish because so many people there do. I’ve heard NYC can be the same way but when I went I pretty much spent all my time in Manhattan.
Cual es su acento? Si una persona te entiende o no tiene que ver con más que una cosa. A veces no les entiendo a la gente inglesa a causa de sus acentos y el inglés es mi primer idioma. He escuchado a muchos Latinos que pasaron muchos años estudiando inglés y van a un lugar como escocia y no entienden a nadie. O van al sur de los EEUU y no entienden nada por el acento.
@@anndeecosita3586 Bueno, todos hemos visto películas británicas donde justamente parodian y se ríen de ellos mismos cuando alguien habla escocés y nadie entiende nada. Sabemos que el escocés es un lenguaje celta y no germánico. Pero cuando hablan inglés sigue pareciendo que hablan un idioma diferente.
Yo ahora tengo un compañero peruano. El idioma es exactamente el mismo, pero muchas veces me cuesta entenderles la tonada y necesito que me repitan las frases.
Si hablo de cuando los escoceses hablan inglés pero a mi suena como otro idioma. Entre la gente que hablan español los más difícil para mi en entender son los Dominicanos. Tengo muchos amigos Peruanos y visité a Peru. No tengo problema con ellos. Puede ser que la gente con quien hablaste no entienden bien el español o que no entienden bien su acento.
