I’m still experiencing this, from female coworkers, some younger, some the same age, some older. I have learned to ignore it unless their behavior necessitates my action.
I actually experienced this with a younger coworker....she was obsessed...and because i was quiet, and didnt entertain her messiness, she couldnt handle it. I wasnt rude, or mean. I am a kind person...helpful. And she just kept pushing the envelope. Making sly comments about my performance. I just didnt get it. Until i thought about it....she was jealous. And i cannot fathom why because i am just me. I come to work just to do my job. And people would be cool with me...she didnt have that...people didnt like her...she hated me for everything she wasnt. It was embarrassing to watch...and im glad she left. Uuugh. Just weird.
There is 1 that's 12 yrs younger than me at work that I saw early on that she is a narcissist from something she did & I told her I can't mess w her because of it &❤ she turned the weak minded flying monkeys against me without even hearing my side & I was civil w her still when I told her I just won't be bothered w the fakeness & yet & still she still had to try to isolate me because I was straight up & few yrs later she said she wanted to be friends again & I told her we hv to address the obvious & then move forward & she denied it & tried to play me again when I was going to be open again & it's a No go again & her flying monkeys are scared of me but think I care about them when it's none of their business lol 😅. Like school mess
I’m the one they come to advice for we have good relationships once they get to know me. They also put me up on trends just to be in the know as I’m a semi recluse if not for work…lol. My daughter just sent me a nice playlist so ya know…balance… youthfulness will always be valued and wisdom and patience and yes Aging beautifully has its value as well. It is sad this happens because to become older, you were once younger so we older women have the upper hand in life experience so the competing should not be there and no one can do 25 better than an actual 25 year old woman so just….don’t. I’m also celibate and they know this so I’m not seen as competition albeit I have the natural onion that two of my coworkers purchased for themselves (travel nursing they should’ve asked me for advice😂)….and the men that I entertain are 99 years old and know how to Zelle. They can have their peer men. In my work you are limited by your licensure so there is no competing there. Either you have what it takes or you don’t. Women of all ages should support other women. I actually thought the interwebs was helping to improve this younger woman/older woman dynamic as when I was younger…I’m now 50 for perspective, men would always try to call older women bitter or hating thereby blocking the younger woman from listening to any of the sound advice she tried to give in order to spare the younger woman from a worse fate. I watch women of all ages how they switch up once a man comes around…that’s what I watch. I’ve seen the quiet women perk up when a man shows up. Ijs…those women who can get along well with males but every woman is jealous of them is a red flag to me. I get along better with women and give women more patience because I know if they are dealing with a man and or raising children…they are stressed and tired and cranky….I don’t have that issue my two are grown and I got rid of the man almost a decade ago. Once I woke up to their games and broke my programming I started to hold men accountable, but I try to give women much Grace….especially bw…we need it. Anywho forgive my rant.

Yesss! Girl, you ain’t said nothing but a word. For the life of me, I been struggling these past months dealing with an older co-worker that be low-key shading me and just having me in my head sometimes. I believe it’s jealousy. Yup a lot of young co workers feel like you OWE THEM MOTHERING!!!! Just bc you’re a bit older. Or they feel like you should also dim your brightness bc they’re the young girl.
I’m so glad Gen Z is talking about this because us Millennials were put through hell and still are. Boomers and Gen X women have been hateful, they act as though they are your auntie or mother and deserve parental respect from a child. Yes! I think WW hate feminine Black women. I’m married to a WM and I told him his people are very uncomfortable with beautiful feminine BW and only like us when we are overweight, been through struggles and looking a mess, and I’m proven right every day. Mind you I’m 49 but look 29 with not as much as one single line or wrinkle and I dress 29 too lol. I take care of myself, walk confidently and look super happy. When we’re out they give me the dirtiest looks 😅 😂

Older women in the workplace are hell! I aspire to never hate on other people ESP younger women... we need more female mentors who genuinely mean well and are secure in their maturity and growth
I know the general advice was to elevate yourself and stonewall them but I ended up telling off my older coworker. The micro aggressions towards me were just the tipping point and she caught me on the wrong day. “We have too much work here, we cannot also accommodate your misery, please leave it home just like the rest of us” I wasn’t proud of stepping out of character but I do find that checking someone and telling them about themselves works just as well, and to take the power back I went to HR myself and built a case of bullying and harassment which the entire department (10 ppl) defended me and she had to be taken out of the operation for 2 weeks to work on her behavioral issues. Ladies, if you have company policy books regarding acceptable behaviors please use this to prove a point and embarrass these bitter unprofessional women.
I agree sometimes you have to tell people off. Just don’t yell or cuss. Be calm, diplomatic, and exact. Keep a paper trail. You do have to show you have a backbone just be wise about it. It’s easier with equals but a bit more challenging with someone you report to or can affect your review.
I went through it months ago with an older woman coworker. She spread all these lies and scandalized my name around the company even tried to turn others against me. I finally switched shifts so I no longer see her. Thank God. 🙌🙌🙌

This is true women give other women a hard time in the workplace in general..And this is why alot of women prefer to work with men or work in a position that requires them to work by themselves..It's less stressful and more peaceful...I just keep having the same type of run ins with women even being in my mid 30's and im over the pick me competition games women like to play with eachother in the workplace...I'm not here to take your work husband from you im here so that I can keep my lights on and my children fed...
Most women do NOT prefer to work with men. Men behave just the same and they’re less likely to promote you over another male. It’s just that women will generally say something to your face, while men will have a lot of really disturbing and disgusting things to say behind your back when they’re with the other guys. Coming from someone who had to watch cameras and deal with workplace incidents, it’s not the women you need to watch out for.
Any hate from older coworkers has never been about any potential competition over a man. That kind of jealousy always came from women in my own age group. Older women coworkers did resent the fact that I didn't allow myself to be exploited and would not always go with the flow, nor was I interested in gossip. The only reason I can understand why some women who dress fancier than her coworkers is confusion about what her intentions are. Like they may think she is not planning to work as much and just intends to take it easy and look pretty, or like she's trying to play boss and use her appearance to gain undeserved status over them. Because some of them crave the attention from the men and like to be the IT gworl at the job too..Which is why I said women in general because I have experienced women like that in young and older women.Other than that I can agree with what you're saying.
I experienced this when working at Facebook a few years ago. I used to go into work with a full beat, a natural beat but it was still a full face. One day I didn’t have time to do my makeup so I just went in with a little mascara and lipgloss and she was like “oh you look so much better like that you should just do this from now on.” Trying to convince me to stop coming to work with a full face of makeup. Then later I let one of our mutual friends borrow $800 that she never paid back (i know, I know I will never let anyone borrow money from me again from this experience) and she sided with the girl who never paid me back, while they talked mess about me and I did nothing to that girl besides give her money she never paid back. There’s way more but just to keep it short yes this happens a lot, it shows me the type of woman I don’t want to be. When I start getting older and as my beauty starts to fade I will never be jealous and make sure to uplift the young beautiful women that are around me.
You can literally take her small claims court for that amount. I’ll be damned in this economy if someone borrows that amount from me and not pay it back, nah I’ll see you court sis.
I think this happens to women, particularly Black women, by other women of ALL ages. I have been targeted at work by older women, younger women and women my own age. Jealousy has no respect of person.
I learned this the hard way, not only in the workplace but life in general: you can never be friends with someone who is jealous of you (or just jealous in general). The evil they will come at you with, and the havoc they will wreak is destructive for those who don't have that mindset of being threatened with other competent females. Take care of yourselves and protect yourselves! How they talk about other people to you is how they will talk about you to other people, stay safe ladies! ❤🙏
This is hard to fight when you care about people, when you're in social services and you have lived experience with the community you serve (homelessness, foster care, etc). This happens so often that it's draining. I'm a hyper-sensitive and things like this weigh on me. This is even in churches, and also in families. I just stay away from the large majority.
Read some Psalms before you go to work. Buy some tourmaline crystals, it absorbs negativity. Charge it in the sun. Buy tigers eye, it's a crystal for evil eye. Do an egg cleanse at least once a week and flush it down the toilet.
I hate to say because I ❤ my ppl but my most traumatic work experiences were with black women & gays my age or younger. Most rude, condescending group of ppl ever. Very mean for no reason. I don't argue & I'm not a fighter but having to go to work & protect your peace from toxic ppl was very exhausting. I've met all my best friends at work & I'm greatful but Idc how old I get, I will never work with a bunch of women again.
Im dealing with a younger jealous coworker. Its ridiculous. She copies me. Tries to dress like me. Wears her makeup like me. Wears jewlery like me. She does everything possible to be passive aggressive and pretend she likes me to my face but tries to create problems behind my back.
I love tgis because I experienced this all. It can be traumatizing, and even til now, out of my 20s and 30s, I still get hate, and most of these women are in my age group, but I'm one of those women whos been blessed to look young for my age because I take care of myself so I lift young women like this up because of my experiences.
I'm not sure it's an "older woman" issue as much as a "woman" issue. Some women, unfortunately, compete with each other as opposed to supporting one another. I am hopeful this is changing. Also, corporations have a nasty habit of having a person working with, or even training, their replacement. So often, peoples anger is misplaced.

I think this is true, but the difference is that older women often start by acting like they are looking out for you or trying to help you. But, they really are just trying to figure you out so they can tear you down later. It’s an issue that needs to be called out.
I’m older now but I remember an older coworker when I was young would constantly make the statement “these young heauxs don’t want to work” . I’m the type to do my face and spray on a perfume and the “getting near retirement and or mean women” now state something about me to make them feel better about themselves “ here come the medical model, it’s fashion nova srubs , maybe it’s maybeline” . It’s always women having something to say. it’s jealous hearts and it doesn’t stop you can be 65 or 20 they will hate. If you’re smart, nice looking , care about your appearance, bringing good energy, and fit prepare your self . Do not become one of those hags they aren’t happy not at work, not at home, because they aren’t happy within.

As someone that had my master's degree by the time I was 23 and became a supervisor around 26/27...I found the most problematic employees were the people my age range that were not in supervisor's role. I never had an issue with the older women. Yes, they might be stuck in old routines but that's about it. Maybe it depends on the industries you work in 🤷🏾♀️. However, I do think there are jealous women that are older, but the younger generation gotta also stop thinking everybody is jealous of them too 😂. Sometimes there's just toxic work environments overall with a mix of young n old.

I agree, being a nurse but more than not it's the new nurse vs the seasoned nurse. I became a nurse at 38 and I had younger age nurses, treat me like that and I had to learn real fast to shut it down, defend myself, grow a thick skin and CYA. Because the Lord knows, they won't stop till they get your license revoked on something stupid, they are relentless and God forbid, you take a baby nurse under your wing, they see red. They expect you to be just as abusive and I REFUSED when it was my time to mentor. I never saw the point of "eat their own" that's a practice that needs to come to a STOP. Seriously.

Young women don't mind them, don't start drama, don't talk about them behind their backs to others, just keep mental notes, write it down if you need to for future reference if it gets excessive. In that case you definitely need to talk to a higher up someone higher than them to get that situation taken care of you should be able to do your job without workplace drama. Remember none of your coworkers are your "friends" I don't care where you work at you are an employee, you are there to do a job, do your job, do it well💐 then go home.
look i’m 29 and an 18 yr old coworker just gave me some of the soundest advice, really a reminder to self, that i’ve gotten in a while and i was thankful for that. at the time i was working every day, 4 10s at one job and then part time 3 days at another. she told me i need to be careful and slow down which i know but wasn’t honoring. because of her i put my foot down with my boss and got Sundays off each week for self care. we really need to be there for one another, uplift each other. energy transfers. people around you doing and feeling good, you will do and feel the same.
It's literally crazy that so many have experienced being treated unjustly or in a jealous manner by co workers, you're supposed to be a " team" member , we should build each other up and be encouraging. Workplace " cliques" are also a big issue that I have seen over my years of employment in Healthcare. My take on all this kind of negative energy is that you are outshining and living the life they failed to accomplish. Absolutely no one deserves to be treated in a negative manner for being "you." Speak to HR about hostile work environment but in mean time shine on from an older(46) but still young black woman ❤💯
Oh my oh my! I’m so glad this is being addressed. Because I’m definitely dealing with this in the workplace now. Geesh! And I swear I be questioning myself like is it me?! The subtle remarks and actions be having me in my head. I’m 31, however my colleagues are in their mid 40’s to 50’s and I can definitely feel the micro-aggressions.
I literally have audio recording of my coworker who is 20+ years my senior talking dog shit about me behind my back, but to this day smiles in my face. Prior to this, I never believed I was important enough to be hated on, mainly because I don’t have that energy in or on me.
This video is no lies , when I was in my internship, I was being told that a salary of 55k in California was a good thing with a clinical masters degree, I was being told by the seasoned clinicians how they survived off 47k and I had to remember I was new , despite having 10 years of clinical experience under my belt, before i decided to complete a master’s degree 🙄
It's not just older women. Anyone could be jealous of your energy, the way how you carry yourself especially sometimes it's your closest relatives (moms, cousins, sisters, etc.).

I am the older work almost 40 but the older ladies think I am younger than them and the young ones feel I am thier age but I am light years ahead of them… I just stay to myself but thier energy toward me is crazy I just go to work and do my job I day good morning to everyone and speak when needed no small talk but I guess that’s a problem

As a 21 year old. I do see the importance of calling out toxic people but even if some older women are jealous, so what🤷🏽♀️? Younger ones be jealous too if not more. Jealousy has nothing to do with age. That girl at 22:13 is weird. I have nothing against older men. However, older men coming after us is only an ego boost to insecure women who probably didn’t have luck with guys her own age. Most of these older women ain’t worried about us. I can honestly say I work with all older women in my department and even thought I hate my current office I love working with them. They are super sweet, I call them my work aunties
At almost 37, even I still deal with this from older women. However, you correct or constructively criticize a young girl, she thinks you're picking on her because you're jealous or hating blah blah blah🙄. Every older woman is not a hater or envious of young girls. Some of us sit in our wisdom comfortably and admire some of the ways of this new generation.
Ppl definitely had opportunities 10 years ago lol. This generation is insane, we were all young once and we all get old. I think it boils down to the individuals personality, not their age. I used to love my older coworkers.
I’m an older woman now and have crazy stories of my younger years in the workplace with older women. Healthy camaraderie turned to underhanded behavior and jealousy. I had admiration for a new dept manager and that turned to her doing the most to make me quit. I had created a new job title/duties at a company and it made others pissed. I will never understand it! She was fired a couple years later but it didn’t make me feel good. I feel like I have ptsd but my experience and skills have not gone to waste. Young women, keep going and don’t let this bring you down!

Definitely when I was younger and now I’ve had it with the reverse where some of the younger ones are doing the same thing the older ones were doing. 🤦🏾♀️ P.S. it’s not just in the workplace. It’s everywhere you go or tend to congregate amongst people that you know church, activities in general, friend groups etc. just beware ladies. Older jealous women were younger jealous women do not be fooled.
I haven’t finished this video, but I can’t help but notice that almost every single woman speaking on this topic is a POC. That adds another layer to the jealous older woman in the workplace. They are not only jealous of the work you do, but your personal life also triggers them. Even when you don’t share. They are aware that you have a life outside of work and they are pissed they have made work their life and you leave work at work.
I’ve experienced this from both ends - older and younger women were horrible to me in the workplace. The older woman wanted all my connections to be through her, wrote nasty all caps emails to me, policed my wardrobe, what I ate, hair styles, my religion, and overall workplace bullied me. I worked for her for over 8 years and she went around in our field bad mouthing me because finally left…The younger woman would come to work talking to subordinates very disrespectful and aggressively. She would call someone out in a meeting in front of 10 other people, shut you down, and had this attitude like “I wish you would say something back.” One day a WW complained about me and took credit for my work and she took her side, only to later find out that I had done most of the project by myself and into the wee hours of the morning…I couldn’t repeat going through the abuse so I quit after being there for less than a year. She then tells someone “She’s leaving, and it’s unfortunate.” O_o oh yeah?
Dealing with this RIGHT NOW💯..had to make a retention yesterday in front of my older BLACK female boss and she made it a point to correct me MID PRESENTATION when in reality o shares the right information and HER BOSS our Sr.VP Complimented my work and told me how valuable it is.
this is why I’m pursuing a career that lets me work independently . Because those old evil coworkers will really break you down mentally especially at such a young age when your mind is still developing and growing . but the pain you cause is the same pain you feel . karma knows everybody’s address.
I’ve seen this happen at a job a few years ago, an older girl got promoted & was condescending to most of the women in the office, by the time management notice what she was doing, she put in a 2 week notice to work a new job remote for 3 dollars less an hr, she said it was for her family but we all knew she took the new job because she rather quit than take the anticipated firing
It’s up to the younger generations to recognize this as a critical problem and do better in the future but I feel like it’s just a by product of being old.. who’s to say once these younger women start to age that they won’t act like that too eventually! At the root of all this is the desperate need to decentralize men!
There was one older lady who kept herself up and all of the women her age hated on her! Hair did , nails , did, make up did, nice body, pretty teeth. FLY! And we all wore scrubs soo it wasn’t the clothes. I mean she was drop dead gorgeous I told her every time I saw her. She gave me lipstick tips and stuff . She eventually left bc of the toxic environment . She is about 56 yrs old right now and her daughter is 35 like me , her sons 33 and 30 . I worked with her son and would always tell him your mom is so so pretty like it’s not fair ! 😍 and she was a regular black person / brown skin/ black features, kinky hair.
I’m a teacher and work with other black women older and my age. At every job I’ve had, I’ve always had an issue with the administrators and the other teachers. They’re always looking me up and down, make comments on my body and my figure, laugh at anything that I say, and try to downplay my accomplishments and my ambition. It’s gross asf. Like the older one I work with is always throwing both subtle and non-subtle shade at me unprovoked. I’m just like bihhh what’s the issue? She even made a comment about my body too asking about my routine and comparing her body to mine. So at this point, I know she’s just a hater and so are the other ones. I’m one of the only ones who isn’t a baby mama, made good money, and have a nice car. Plus I don’t kiss behind and I’m introverted. So I know that’s where the hating is coming from. Even my friends at work see it and told me they know they’re just hating on me.
I had a horrible experience of being bullied and treated like shit on my first professional job. I reminded her of the woman who took her college boyfriend with whom she had twins. She did get fired, but that did something to me. I will never allow such disrespect again. Horrible experience.
I’ve experience this type of jealousy from all ages. I’m older now and have experienced this from those younger than me as well. I don’t think jealousy is limited to age it’s more of an attitude or insecurity. I’m older and very secure among all ages but have intimidated the younger words by my presence , success etc . Keeping it real and balanced .

I'm an older woman, who doesn't look my age, this woman who was older showed so much hate n jealousy. She went so far as to go in my personal file, and told everyone my age, to TRY age shame me. I've had women younger than me hate me for who I am. I get along with Gen Z they're much more mature and fun.

I actually had an older black man at my previous workplace do this to me & went as far as disrespecting me & trying to get me fired so I had a meeting with the higher ups & told them if they don’t get him off my back, I will pursue legal action & file for workplace harassment & discrimination. He was sexist & misogynistic as well cause I was the only woman in our department.. it was only 2 women in the company. Go figure.

The last girl talking about men only date younger women and calling older women basically damaged goods was the ultimate pickmeisha. Older women are 9/10 established so having a man in her life would just be an added bonus. You can’t come at older women with ageism also and pull us down. I love my younger sisters! They inspire me to :). Men tell us this garbage to keep us competing and divided. The sisterhood does not. I have learned so much from women 20+ years older than me because they are more wise.
Older female coworker here. You can't utter a 5 word sentence without dropping two f bombs. You have a temper tantrum whenever you're expected to do work. If management leaves a note in cursive writing you need a translator. You expect the company to provide your lunch and hygiene products. And more than anything else, you make a man who doesn't deserve you the center of your world and expect everyone else to pick up your slack because he keeps you too upset to function. It's not jealously. I don't want to be you. It's annoyance. I paid my dues raising children. I just dont need you on my nerves.
The women who centered men in their responses are just as misogynistic as the men they’re talking about 😅 As a 39 year old woman, I enjoy having friendships with women both younger and older than me. I’ve always been this I way. I admire and respect my elders who also admire and respect me. Confident people don’t seek their value in the opinions others. Insecure people do tho. I also do not center men in my daily life. It doesn’t sound like a very fun way to live.
I'm actually experiencing all these things now. Do not make this an young, old thing, just in all my years of working, I've experienced this. But, I switched to a different carrer path 6 years ago, it's worse. There is nothing new under the sun.

This is kind of sad to watch. I don’t think this is a older woman younger woman situation. I think this is a full-blown woman on woman being jealous of each other. Nothing to do with age my prayer is that these younger women will live to see 50 and 60, and then we have their own experiences to share, the fact that men don’t have these conversations about men competing older or younger should say something to women. This literally was me, but luckily I had a transfer request in place and I was complaining every 5 mins to the point the was like yea we just gone release you for your transfer. So I essentially was o it if work for a week unable to pay my bills and had to move out my apartment that set me back so much, but I’m in a better place with cheaper bills and less stress at work! Actually be bored there. Trust me God has you covered!

I went through bullying by older women as well, she definitely didn’t like my work ethics when it comes to my customer service, my personality, even my character, she was rude every time I spoke about the job front and not taking personal on my end, she is just a bitter black woman.
I just understand how some ppl think they hve the right to be so hateful & get away with it. I wouldn't be able to sleep well at night knowing that I've caused a person to quit or lose their job for no reason. I deal with this with an older guy i work with. The jealousy, then disrespect, the rudeness, the hateful stares? Luckily, other ppl notice & have my back, they help me out with anything I need.

It’s not an age thing, it’s a personal thing. The older lady at work went out of her way to help me adjust to my new position. The one my age has a BAD attitude like my presence annoys her and all I’ve ever said to her was “hello”, so I know that’s a her problem and not a “me” problem. Chile I can’t deal with the miserable. I actually experienced this with a younger coworker....she was obsessed...and because i was quiet, and didnt entertain her messiness, she couldnt handle it. I wasnt rude, or mean. I am a kind person...helpful. And she just kept pushing the envelope. Making sly comments about my performance. I just didnt get it. Until i thought about it....she was jealous. And i cannot fathom why because i am just me. I come to work just to do my job. And people would be cool with me...she didnt have that...people didnt like her...she hated me for everything she wasnt. It was embarrassing to watch...and im glad she left. Uuugh. Just weird.

I’m the one they come to advice for we have good relationships once they get to know me. They also put me up on trends just to be in the know as I’m a semi recluse if not for work…lol. My daughter just sent me a nice playlist so ya know…balance… youthfulness will always be valued and wisdom and patience and yes Aging beautifully has its value as well. It is sad this happens because to become older, you were once younger so we older women have the upper hand in life experience so the competing should not be there and no one can do 25 better than an actual 25 year old woman so just….don’t. I’m also celibate and they know this so I’m not seen as competition albeit I have the natural onion that two of my coworkers purchased for themselves (travel nursing they should’ve asked me for advice😂)….and the men that I entertain are 99 years old and know how to Zelle. They can have their peer men. In my work you are limited by your licensure so there is no competing there. Either you have what it takes or you don’t. Women of all ages should support other women. I actually thought the interwebs was helping to improve this younger woman/older woman dynamic as when I was younger…I’m now 50 for perspective, men would always try to call older women bitter or hating thereby blocking the younger woman from listening to any of the sound advice she tried to give in order to spare the younger woman from a worse fate. I watch women of all ages how they switch up once a man comes around…that’s what I watch. I’ve seen the quiet women perk up when a man shows up. Ijs…those women who can get along well with males but every woman is jealous of them is a red flag to me. I get along better with women and give women more patience because I know if they are dealing with a man and or raising children…they are stressed and tired and cranky….I don’t have that issue my two are grown and I got rid of the man almost a decade ago. Once I woke up to their games and broke my programming I started to hold men accountable, but I try to give women much Grace….especially bw…we need it. Anywho forgive my rant.

The micro aggressions towards me were just the tipping point and she caught me on the wrong day. “We have too much work here, we cannot also accommodate your misery, please leave it home just like the rest of us”
I wasn’t proud of stepping out of character but I do find that checking someone and telling them about themselves works just as well, and to take the power back I went to HR myself and built a case of bullying and harassment which the entire department (10 ppl) defended me and she had to be taken out of the operation for 2 weeks to work on her behavioral issues.
Ladies, if you have company policy books regarding acceptable behaviors please use this to prove a point and embarrass these bitter unprofessional women.
I agree sometimes you have to tell people off. Just don’t yell or cuss. Be calm, diplomatic, and exact. Keep a paper trail. You do have to show you have a backbone just be wise about it. It’s easier with equals but a bit more challenging with someone you report to or can affect your review.

Most women do NOT prefer to work with men. Men behave just the same and they’re less likely to promote you over another male. It’s just that women will generally say something to your face, while men will have a lot of really disturbing and disgusting things to say behind your back when they’re with the other guys. Coming from someone who had to watch cameras and deal with workplace incidents, it’s not the women you need to watch out for.

Any hate from older coworkers has never been about any potential competition over a man. That kind of jealousy always came from women in my own age group. Older women coworkers did resent the fact that I didn't allow myself to be exploited and would not always go with the flow, nor was I interested in gossip. The only reason I can understand why some women who dress fancier than her coworkers is confusion about what her intentions are. Like they may think she is not planning to work as much and just intends to take it easy and look pretty, or like she's trying to play boss and use her appearance to gain undeserved status over them. I experienced this when working at Facebook a few years ago. I used to go into work with a full beat, a natural beat but it was still a full face. One day I didn’t have time to do my makeup so I just went in with a little mascara and lipgloss and she was like “oh you look so much better like that you should just do this from now on.” Trying to convince me to stop coming to work with a full face of makeup. Then later I let one of our mutual friends borrow $800 that she never paid back (i know, I know I will never let anyone borrow money from me again from this experience) and she sided with the girl who never paid me back, while they talked mess about me and I did nothing to that girl besides give her money she never paid back. There’s way more but just to keep it short yes this happens a lot, it shows me the type of woman I don’t want to be. When I start getting older and as my beauty starts to fade I will never be jealous and make sure to uplift the young beautiful women that are around me.

This is hard to fight when you care about people, when you're in social services and you have lived experience with the community you serve (homelessness, foster care, etc). This happens so often that it's draining. I'm a hyper-sensitive and things like this weigh on me. This is even in churches, and also in families. I just stay away from the large majority.

I love tgis because I experienced this all. It can be traumatizing, and even til now, out of my 20s and 30s, I still get hate, and most of these women are in my age group, but I'm one of those women whos been blessed to look young for my age because I take care of myself so I lift young women like this up because of my experiences.
I'm not sure it's an "older woman" issue as much as a "woman" issue. Some women, unfortunately, compete with each other as opposed to supporting one another. I am hopeful this is changing. Also, corporations have a nasty habit of having a person working with, or even training, their replacement. So often, peoples anger is misplaced.

As someone that had my master's degree by the time I was 23 and became a supervisor around 26/27...I found the most problematic employees were the people my age range that were not in supervisor's role. I never had an issue with the older women. Yes, they might be stuck in old routines but that's about it. Maybe it depends on the industries you work in 🤷🏾♀️. However, I do think there are jealous women that are older, but the younger generation gotta also stop thinking everybody is jealous of them too 😂. I became a nurse at 38 and I had younger age nurses, treat me like that and I had to learn real fast to shut it down, defend myself, grow a thick skin and CYA. look i’m 29 and an 18 yr old coworker just gave me some of the soundest advice, really a reminder to self, that i’ve gotten in a while and i was thankful for that. at the time i was working every day, 4 10s at one job and then part time 3 days at another. she told me i need to be careful and slow down which i know but wasn’t honoring. because of her i put my foot down with my boss and got Sundays off each week for self care. we really need to be there for one another, uplift each other. energy transfers. people around you doing and feeling good, you will do and feel the same.
It's literally crazy that so many have experienced being treated unjustly or in a jealous manner by co workers, you're supposed to be a " team" member , we should build each other up and be encouraging. Workplace " cliques" are also a big issue that I have seen over my years of employment in Healthcare. My take on all this kind of negative energy is that you are outshining and living the life they failed to accomplish. Absolutely no one deserves to be treated in a negative manner for being "you." Speak to HR about hostile work environment but in mean time shine on from an older(46) but still young black woman ❤💯

At almost 37, even I still deal with this from older women. However, you correct or constructively criticize a young girl, she thinks you're picking on her because you're jealous or hating blah blah blah🙄. Every older woman is not a hater or envious of young girls. Some of us sit in our wisdom comfortably and admire some of the ways of this new generation.
Ppl definitely had opportunities 10 years ago lol. This generation is insane, we were all young once and we all get old. I think it boils down to the individuals personality, not their age. I used to love my older coworkers.

I’m an older woman now and have crazy stories of my younger years in the workplace with older women. Healthy camaraderie turned to underhanded behavior and jealousy. I had admiration for a new dept manager and that turned to her doing the most to make me quit. I had created a new job title/duties at a company and it made others pissed. I will never understand it! She was fired a couple years later but it didn’t make me feel good. I feel like I have ptsd but my experience and skills have not gone to waste. Young women, keep going and don’t let this bring you down!

I’m experiencing this at work, however I’m older in this situation and all the people sick with jealousy are younger AND in higher positions than me. Baffling.
Meanwhile those older women they talking about don’t even know what they talking about. So many are desperate to be “that girl” in their story…they make up villains lol.

I’ve had it on both sides. Definitely when I was younger and now I’ve had it with the reverse where some of the younger ones are doing the same thing the older ones were doing. 🤦🏾♀️ P.S. it’s not just in the workplace. It’s everywhere you go or tend to congregate amongst people that you know church, activities in general, friend groups etc. just beware ladies. Older jealous women were younger jealous women do not be fooled.
I haven’t finished this video, but I can’t help but notice that almost every single woman speaking on this topic is a POC. That adds another layer to the jealous older woman in the workplace.
They are not only jealous of the work you do, but your personal life also triggers them. Even when you don’t share. They are aware that you have a life outside of work and they are pissed they have made work their life and you leave work at work.
I’ve experienced this from both ends - older and younger women were horrible to me in the workplace. The older woman wanted all my connections to be through her, wrote nasty all caps emails to me, policed my wardrobe, what I ate, hair styles, my religion, and overall workplace bullied me. I worked for her for over 8 years and she went around in our field bad mouthing me because finally left…The younger woman would come to work talking to subordinates very disrespectful and aggressively. She would call someone out in a meeting in front of 10 other people, shut you down, and had this attitude like “I wish you would say something back.” One day a WW complained about me and took credit for my work and she took her side, only to later find out that I had done most of the project by myself and into the wee hours of the morning…I couldn’t repeat going through the abuse so I quit after being there for less than a year. She then tells someone “She’s leaving, and it’s unfortunate.” O_o oh yeah?
Dealing with this RIGHT NOW💯..had to make a retention yesterday in front of my older BLACK female boss and she made it a point to correct me MID PRESENTATION when in reality o shares the right information and HER BOSS our Sr.VP Complimented my work and told me how valuable it is.
this is why I’m pursuing a career that lets me work independently . Because those old evil coworkers will really break you down mentally especially at such a young age when your mind is still developing and growing . but the pain you cause is the same pain you feel . karma knows everybody’s address.

I’ve seen this happen at a job a few years ago, an older girl got promoted & was condescending to most of the women in the office, by the time management notice what she was doing, she put in a 2 week notice to work a new job remote for 3 dollars less an hr, she said it was for her family but we all knew she took the new job because she rather quit than take the anticipated firing

It’s up to the younger generations to recognize this as a critical problem and do better in the future but I feel like it’s just a by product of being old.. who’s to say once these younger women start to age that they won’t act like that too eventually! At the root of all this is the desperate need to decentralize men!
There was one older lady who kept herself up and all of the women her age hated on her! Hair did , nails , did, make up did, nice body, pretty teeth. FLY! And we all wore scrubs soo it wasn’t the clothes. I mean she was drop dead gorgeous I told her every time I saw her. She gave me lipstick tips and stuff . She eventually left bc of the toxic environment . She is about 56 yrs old right now and her daughter is 35 like me , her sons 33 and 30 .
I worked with her son and would always tell him your mom is so so pretty like it’s not fair ! 😍 and she was a regular black person / brown skin/ black features, kinky hair.

I’m a teacher and work with other black women older and my age. At every job I’ve had, I’ve always had an issue with the administrators and the other teachers. They’re always looking me up and down, make comments on my body and my figure, laugh at anything that I say, and try to downplay my accomplishments and my ambition. It’s gross asf. Like the older one I work with is always throwing both subtle and non-subtle shade at me unprovoked. I’m just like bihhh what’s the issue? She even made a comment about my body too asking about my routine and comparing her body to mine.
So at this point, I know she’s just a hater and so are the other ones. I’m one of the only ones who isn’t a baby mama, made good money, and have a nice car. Plus I don’t kiss behind and I’m introverted. So I know that’s where the hating is coming from.
Even my friends at work see it and told me they know they’re just hating on me.
I had a horrible experience of being bullied and treated like shit on my first professional job. I reminded her of the woman who took her college boyfriend with whom she had twins. She did get fired, but that did something to me. I will never allow such disrespect again. Horrible experience.
I’ve experience this type of jealousy from all ages. I’m older now and have experienced this from those younger than me as well. I don’t think jealousy is limited to age it’s more of an attitude or insecurity. I’m older and very secure among all ages but have intimidated the younger words by my presence , success etc . Keeping it real and balanced .

I'm an older woman, who doesn't look my age, this woman who was older showed so much hate n jealousy. She went so far as to go in my personal file, and told everyone my age, to TRY age shame me. I've had women younger than me hate me for who I am. I get along with Gen Z they're much more mature and fun.
Yep. I have several at my job. They’re married, doing 50/50 and have adult children living with them. They’ll say micro aggressions towards me and act dumb when I check them. I just ignore them and it drives them crazy, they want your attention, they want your energy. Don’t give it to them.
I actually had an older black man at my previous workplace do this to me & went as far as disrespecting me & trying to get me fired so I had a meeting with the higher ups & told them if they don’t get him off my back, I will pursue legal action & file for workplace harassment & discrimination. He was sexist & misogynistic as well cause I was the only woman in our department.. it was only 2 women in the company. Go figure.

The last girl talking about men only date younger women and calling older women basically damaged goods was the ultimate pickmeisha. Older women are 9/10 established so having a man in her life would just be an added bonus. You can’t come at older women with ageism also and pull us down. I love my younger sisters! They inspire me to :). Men tell us this garbage to keep us competing and divided. The sisterhood does not. I have learned so much from women 20+ years older than me because they are more wise.

Older female coworker here. You can't utter a 5 word sentence without dropping two f bombs. You have a temper tantrum whenever you're expected to do work. If management leaves a note in cursive writing you need a translator. You expect the company to provide your lunch and hygiene products. And more than anything else, you make a man who doesn't deserve you the center of your world and expect everyone else to pick up your slack because he keeps you too upset to function. It's not jealously. I don't want to be you. It's annoyance. I paid my dues raising children. I just dont need you on my nerves.

The women who centered men in their responses are just as misogynistic as the men they’re talking about 😅 As a 39 year old woman, I enjoy having friendships with women both younger and older than me. I’ve always been this I way. I admire and respect my elders who also admire and respect me. Confident people don’t seek their value in the opinions others. Insecure people do tho. I also do not center men in my daily life. It doesn’t sound like a very fun way to live.
I'm actually experiencing all these things now. Do not make this an young, old thing, just in all my years of working, I've experienced this. But, I switched to a different carrer path 6 years ago, it's worse. There is nothing new under the sun.

This is kind of sad to watch. I don’t think this is a older woman younger woman situation. I think this is a full-blown woman on woman being jealous of each other. Nothing to do with age my prayer is that these younger women will live to see 50 and 60, and then we have their own experiences to share, the fact that men don’t have these conversations about men competing older or younger should say something to women. I don’t know if Womens can comprehend that we can actually get along. I pray that these young girls don’t go through the hardship the many older women had to go through, it would be interesting to revisit these women in 20 years to see what they are

This literally was me, but luckily I had a transfer request in place and I was complaining every 5 mins to the point the was like yea we just gone release you for your transfer. So I essentially was o it if work for a week unable to pay my bills and had to move out my apartment that set me back so much, but I’m in a better place with cheaper bills and less stress at work! Actually be bored there. Trust me God has you covered!

I went through bullying by older women as well, she definitely didn’t like my work ethics when it comes to my customer service, my personality, even my character, she was rude every time I spoke about the job front and not taking personal on my end, she is just a bitter black woman.

I just understand how some ppl think they hve the right to be so hateful & get away with it. I wouldn't be able to sleep well at night knowing that I've caused a person to quit or lose their job for no reason. I deal with this with an older guy i work with. The jealousy, then disrespect, the rudeness, the hateful stares? Luckily, other ppl notice & have my back, they help me out with anything I need.

It’s not an age thing, it’s a personal thing. The older lady at work went out of her way to help me adjust to my new position. The one my age has a BAD attitude like my presence annoys her and all I’ve ever said to her was “hello”, so I know that’s a her problem and not a “me” problem.
