I think medias don't give him the attention he deserves but metal guitarist including myself bring him up a good bit. O use some of his techniques when I need to play fast actually
Brad, he's the SRV of Country music, wonderful singer, performer and scary, scary guitar chops. The complete, real deal package and a real nice person too.
@@punkkyle99 i wasn't fancied on country guitar either, but one day i tried to learn the chicken pickin' double stops technique and....well...it had to happen.....
Even if I COULD play that fast, and that clean, I'd have to stand in one spot and totally concentrate. Brad walks around like he has other things on his mind.
Never heard this guy before. I've heard of him, but never heard him as I am no country fan at all. He was profiled in Guitar World, so I figured I'd give him a listen. I am so glad I did. That was bad ass!
Yeaah !!! I expected a guitar like that! Country, blues and rock n 'roll mix The synthesis of Chet Atkins, James Burton, Jerry Reed and Eric Clapton. And a cool guy too! Thank you Brad !
Love it.. This ol boy can shred with the very best and outshine them whilst he's at it... Fast, accurate, great tricks and the best part it... he can do it again and again and again!! One hell of a musician... And you just gotta hand it to his band.. Those boys are talented, well groomed musicians...
@Evilucas I'm with you, I have never been a fan of country music but Paisley brought me around to it and now I listen to it more. No way to deny that Brad is a phenomenal guitarist.
Reminds me of Who bassist John Entwistle the Ox who stood pretty motionless and expressionless an entire concert while destroying everything in his path and wake. Brad Paisley has it all under the hood and somehow manages to fly under the radar. Inexplicable dude.
WOW!!! I did not know Brad Paisley could burn on the six string like that. I''ve always respected the guy as a musician, but he pleasantly surprised me in this video. Awesome stuff!
GP mag-great interview! I loved that one! I think we talked about how his favorite player in high school was EVH, I think he said that in the GP interview. Nothing beats country guitar! It's got the best elements of rock, and the best elements of jazz!
My grandfather knew one of the guys in the recording room when they first cut this song at the end of it Brad Paisley says "I can't play that song anymore" I'm not sure if it was the first time he played it for everyone I wish I still had the recording it was on tape
! wow ! its incredible the way you play youre Guitar i and sing your beatiful songs i love that way congratulations from Mexico the Big City ! sorry i dont speack very well the english but i am your Fan Javier Chicanos from Mèxico.
Buenos Dias! I checked out your video, and you play some fierce guitar! I subscribed to your channel, but you only have two videos -- and I haven't watched the second one yet. Play more. Post more. : ] You're right in saying that you don't play at Brad's rather breakneck speed, but your playing is impressively quick. Excellent.
The keen listener knew about Brad's phenomenal guitar skills a long time ago... and yes, I just used the word "keen." .. Gonna be seeing him again, this July. Can't wait!
tonestar100: I'd definitely have to agree with that comparison. I mean, I have heard SRV play a number of genres (blues, surf rock...probably more I can't remember) and I've heard Paisley play many genres (country, of course, blues, jazz, surf rock, Eric Johnson-style rock, bluegrass, western swing). Just imagine if SRV was still alive--him and Paisley might've done a song together! That would've been great to get to hear!
ClintR1984: You know, around the time I first started getting into country guitar, I started to want a Tele very badly too! Do keep in mind that Paisley doesn't just use Fender Teles but also often uses Crook Custom Guitars (their Tele-style model mainly, from what I've seen). Also, he almost always has a G-bender system, which I'd love to try out! But, yeah--I'd surely love a Tele as well!
Brad Paisley is AMAZING! Man, if I could ever move my fingers that fast... I love Time Warp too. I think we should have mods to make sure nobody uses bad language like they do now. You can say anything you want about Brad, but, at the end of the day, he is the best guitar player EVER!!!
For all of you just wondering I got Brad Paisleys new album "This is country music" and he has a western instrumental called "Eastwood" which is probaly one of the most bad ass songs i've heard in a while. And man can he pick the guitar!!!!
Paisly's hit his peak with the 200 m.p.h. chicken pickin'assault on an innocent guitar (i mean, c'mon ... the man simply CANNOT get any faster and more perfect than this on a guitar!)
This is one of those songs that i would like to have in Guitar Hero. I think that would be awesome. It is like the Through the Fire and Flames in country.
@runninwild72 There's a book of tabs and standard musical notation for about 15 Paisley songs which I believe is called "The Best of Brad Paisley" and you can find it on Amazon, I believe. Also, you can probably find the tab for this one on various websites including Ultimate-Guitar.
The 17 who didn't like this must not like guitar music. WOW! I've got to get some of his CD's. I knew he was good, but I had only heard his vocal songs on radio. Belongs up there with Jerry Reed, Chet Atkins, etc.
@kiaweking Are you sure you're not thinking of the song called "Jerry's Breakdown?" I know that Reed definitely wrote that one, but Paisley definitely wrote "The Nervous Breakdown." As for imagining who Paisley was listening to while he was growing up, check out his album PLAY--he pays tribute to artists including Eric Johnson, Robben Ford and all of his country guitar heroes as well.
@runninwild72 If you go to Amazon, there are three books of standard music notation/tab for Brad Paisley songs. One is for the entire PLAY album and the other two have songs from different albums. The book titles Best of Brad Paisley (Recorded Versions Guitar) is the one that definitely has "The Nervous Breakdown" in it, but I'm not sure if the third book has it. I own both I mentioned specifically and they're both worth having, if you want to learn Paisley's songs and licks!
@mollers92 There's a book with the standard notation and tabs for this tune...I believe the name of that book is 'Best of Brad Paisley' and you can find it on Amazon and probably on Musician's Friend by now.
@fenderbender534 You should start with his 2008 album PLAY--it's mainly instrumentals and they range in genre from Paisley's usual country stuff to rock, blues and jazz. He even did a surf rock instrumental on that album! The album also features a number of other guitarists including B.B. King, Albert Lee, Steve Wariner, James Burton, etc.
@jjkrause84 Similar experiences on the drums. Generally this feeling of inadequacy results in repeated 4-6 hour sit down/practice sessions where I alternately count, listen, air-drum, and then individually learn the limbs. Having little experience on guitar, I can't even imagine how daunting that would be since only 1 of those methods really works. GL.
@kiaweking I just looked that Jerry Reed album you mentioned on Amazon and he did have a song called "Nervous Breakdown!" I'm a big fan of Reed, but I'd never heard it before so I looked it up here on RUclips. Like Paisley's "The Nervous Breakdown," Reed's "Nervous Breakdown" is an instrumental and the names are certainly almost the same...they both are different songs though but I would assume that Paisley may have been paying tribute to Reed with this one now.
@pilotlightdan it was in 2000. Everything he does with that guitar is amazing. You should look up the songs Time Warp and Throttlekneck, or anything off of his instrumental album
@44Snyder 0011023 was right--Jerry Reed did NOT write "The Nervous Breakdown." Brad Paisley either wrote this one alone or co-wrote it with someone whose name I can't remember (possibly his producer, Frank Rogers). Reed, on the other hand, was fantastic and did write a number of instrumental pieces that Chet Atkins recorded as well as many of the songs that Reed used for his own albums.
Most of Brad's electric guitars (including the pink paisley) have McVay G-benders installed in them. The bender is controlled by an arm attached to the neck strap and actuated by pulling down on the neck of the guitar.
@ragingstorm33 Speaking of 'King of the Hill,' didn't Paisley do a voice on one episode of that? Well, I've never seen it, but my brother--who loves that show--told me Paisley did. Anyway, you should check out Paisley's song "Time Warp," which starts off in jazz, goes to country, goes back and forth between jazz and country another time or two and ends up in a blue section then goes back to a jazz and country section. Paisley also has a blues tune called "Playing with Fire."
I would like to direct you to the following guitar players: Chet Atkins, Doc Watson, Jonny Hiland, Brent Mason, Merle Travis, Tony Rice, Andy Wood. And then come talk to us.
@ozzyshedder23 If you haven't heard of him, check out John 5 as well...but his solo stuff only--not the stuff he did with Marilyn Manson. 5's solo albums are full of metal and country instrumentals. Often, he even combines the two. Also, if you want Paisley's 'guitar album,' it's called PLAY and Paisley plays far more than just country on it.
Brad Paisley is massively underrated in the guitar community. Period.
I think medias don't give him the attention he deserves but metal guitarist including myself bring him up a good bit. O use some of his techniques when I need to play fast actually
Country guitarists in general are underrated, Brad especially
@@cobyd8490 🤘🤠🤘
Brad & Steve Wariner are the 2 best guitar players country music have since Jerry Reed & Roy Clark passed away.
Who's underrated him? Perhaps you meant to say under appreciated, I've never once heard anybody say that Paisley is a so-so guitar player.
Brad, he's the SRV of Country music, wonderful singer, performer and scary, scary guitar chops. The complete, real deal package and a real nice person too.
I'm not a country fan, but this guy and his whole band are freaking awesome...
Guitar World article, eh?
Edwin Finnerty Yep.
I'm not much for country either but this is baaaad....
I think you guys just became fans of country!

I don't usually dig country but I have so much respect for Brad. Country shred!;)
Absolutely unbelievable world class musicians, every single one of them. Hats off to them all.
Yeah.. The WHOLE band is top notch... ALL of them are super talented muscians..!
Yeaah !!!
I expected a guitar like that! Country, blues and rock n 'roll mix

Woke up just a few minutes ago and already rockin' my self crazy to this song !!
@Evilucas I'm with you, I have never been a fan of country music but Paisley brought me around to it and now I listen to it more. No way to deny that Brad is a phenomenal guitarist.
Most underrated guitarist EVER
Now that's some guitar picking at its best yes it's country and yes it's very good guitar playing!!
this is wonderful, its so hard to find videos of paisley just playing guitar, unlike the great brent mason, theres loads of him!
Reminds me of Who bassist John Entwistle the Ox who stood pretty motionless and expressionless an entire concert while destroying everything in his path and wake.
Brad Paisley has it all under the hood and somehow manages to fly under the radar. Inexplicable dude.

Holy canoli. The studio version is impressive enough. But to play it live, and FASTER than the studio version is mind-blowing.
I am a metal fan but I can appreciate this because this guy can shred. Thumbs up if you read about this song in Guitar World magazine.
Hey Brad, we play some of your songs, we're a huge fan!
big hugs from Brazil
You're not the only one. :) I imagine this very song with the solo and everything, distorted guitar sound... and it sounds awesomely hardcore.
I sing and play guitar and I do agree !!!
Great guitar playing...wow!

OMG Brad is a guitar master!
This segment was from Austin City Limits Season 27, Episode 8: Brad Paisley/Sara Evans (2002).👍
Hahahah watch Brad walk up to the violinist to pour a glass of water on him 😂 2:15
We call those fiddlers in country music

You OWN IT Brad !!! Banjo on a Guitar !!! You Creative Genius you !!!
he's chicken pickin, it's been around for decades
I didn't know that
Q: What's it called when the banjo is made to sound like a guitar?
A: No talent.

Chicken pickin...AKA Travis picking. Merle Travis popularized the technique
He´s the best guitar nowadays, I love this sound.

Props to the drummer!! It's not easy to keep this fast of a beat in time!!!
clinkous
Absolutely have to agree. I'm no musician, but Brad has really put together a bunch of awesome players here.
I'm so glad someone brought this amazing style back....remember hee haw?....i do
this is just amazing!! i didnt know he was soo awsome on guitar

I was looking for nervous breakdown by black flag when I stumbled into this and I don't regret it. He's a country guitar shredder.
Who cares that the video is washed out? This is some amazingly clean and beautiful picking...wow!
Well .. at last I found someone who could make this kind of guitar-playing sound AWESOME without distortion :)
I am a serious Brad Paisley fan and I hope to meet him someday

No disrespect to Brad, but behold that violin player. God is he good!
I'd slip and cut my throat trying to play that fast on the fiddle!
That’s Justin Williamson! He’s been with Brad since 1999 and is still with him now
Check out and look up Alan Sloan. of the Dixie Dregs

It all turned out better than expected lmao
@bob1987ify Those were normal harmonics--not pinch harmonics. However, Paisley did use his G-bender system to bend the harmonic note.
Although country music doesn't have much to offer when it comes to guitar playing compared to blues and such, brad paisley is great

@MAredneck927 read the article and had to see this. Damn good guitar playing.
Holy canoli. That's FASTER than on the album!!! Rip roaring.
Just because of this song, i now respect country music entirely.
nm i found it, it's on the "who needs pictures" CD, song 12 but damn near half the tempo of this live version.
Masterclass!
