Proof that the old rockers still RULE when it comes to music today. That's why they save them til last and everyone ROCKS. Glad I was able to grow up with these guys. Rock on gents.
What a pity that they murdered a fantastic J J Cale song and turned it into musak. If you really liked this song in its original form it’s on RUclips. This is just noise.
@@jamesd7495 - I was trying to figure out who from Skynyrd was in this group of musicians. Only one I could see was Ricky Medlocke, the one with the explorer. He was better known as the lead guitar and singer from the band Blackfoot . He became a Skynyrd replacement but was their original drummer when they were in high school in Jacksonville, Fla. That was pre fame with their Pronounced album in Muscle Shoals, Ala. Medlocke and Johnny Van Zant have been with other replacement Skynyrd's for a long time. As luck and history would have it, I got to see a show of the pre plane crash originals twice in 1976. One at the Memphis Liberty Bowl stadium. Show was opened by The Outlaws, 2nd was Blue Oyster Cult, 3rd was Lynyrd Skynyrd and 4th was ZZ Top headlining. Still have the ticket stub, price for that show was $10.00.
@@GlenPentezas a native born Duval county boy and southern music man myself, you are correct sir. They got the magic, but it just ain’t quite the same.

Skynrd karaoke!!!! Can’t believe they still are touring…. Much respect to Billy Gibbons but ZZ Topp still has 2/3 of their original lineup & he is one of the top 5 guitarist living in my book….
Some people commented this is a tribute band. But people who truly love Lynyrd Skynyrd still shows up even big venues. Still see kids to grandparents in audience. Keeping the music alive. 😊
I’ve seen Skynyrd many times since 1977, always put on a great show. My thirty year old daughter went with me a couple years ago and now she’s a fan. Yes “keeping the music alive” !
Saw them 20 years ago then 2 months ago tool my 2 daughters 31 and 11 along with my grand kids and my wife who waited 40 years to see them awesome show don't want to hear about no tribute band they bring it
The original band rocked take this track compare it to forest Gump soundtrack and I'll wait for you to explain the difference it's not brain surgery to hear it
Yes it's nice to see in our lifetime but in reality I was born in 1991 this is not Skynyrd no matter how much you brand it it does not have the emotion in the music even with two original members you can't spin it
As long as a VAN ZANT is leading the charge it will ALWAYS BE SKYNYRD.... GOT ORIGINAL MEMBER RICKEY MEDLOCKE... GARYS WIFE DALE... JVZ, RICKEY, DAMON, SPARKEY, KEYS, CHRISTOPHER, DALE, CAROL... seen them march 16th and they rocked the place
For those who are negative, you apparently never heard the younger Van Zant preform. Heard him do free bird in the late 90s and was one of my burned in memory concert moments of all time. Biggest lazer ball i ever saw.
"Made my day? Hearing Lynyrd Skynyrd! It brought back so many memories. We were all determined to play every single note of 'Freebird as Teenagers,' and we did it while drinking beer:) how did we do that ya! All? Thank you, Lynyrd Skynyrd, for making us mean guitar players."
Now take a look at the new generation of "music makers". What kind of ideas, inspiration, creativity and, above all, musical craft do they have? I would say nothing, less than nothing. My opinion. What I see here now is the pinnacle of music for all time. Nothing more and nothing less. Rock'n roll forever. Seriously, who can hold a candle to Billy Gibbons and all the others? My opinion from a old wise man from germany.🤟🤟🤟
Great sounds, great visuals, great performance, great crowd. Great to see Ricky Medlocke rockin' out. Saw him with Blackfoot in 1982. The man is a powerhouse but at the same time he handles the most subtle chord changes.
Yes Billy is welcome in many musical situations but the guy that's flying under the radar is Damon Johnson. He went from Alice Cooper to Thin Lizzy and ends up in Skynyrd taking over where Gary Rossington left off. That speaks volumes to his ability and trust by bands that have been around for 50 years or more.
I seen this concert live in NC and I wish I could have been here’s the guys that started southern rock and country and still ant stoped keep going we love you all keep rockin
I got to see the original line-up play this at Winterland in SF '74. They were SECOND on the bill to Marshall Tucker who had been opening the Allmans for a year. All 3 lead players blazing away, they played this next to last and then...Freebird. Blew the roof off and then encored with "Crossroads" just like Clapton/Cream did it on Wheels of Fire. It never got any better than that.
Lord I'm getting old, I remember these guys playing when they were young men. Don't get me wrong, this was great to see them still playing and getting it done......but damn
It was great back in the 90s How Gary brought Ricky back into the band and then at the end of his life How Gary brought Damien into the band. Damon Johnson is the last of the southern rock guitarists where Rickey Medlocke is a Godfather of southern rock and roll
With no original members left it can only be a tribute band. The real Skynyrd died with Ronnie in 1977. He was the heart and soul of the band. His writting and vocals made this band what it was in its glory days. Being a tribute band is not such a bad thing , it does keep the music alive.
Remember, it's all we got left. Enjoy it while you can!
