The best thing about Brent Mason is that you’ve almost definitely heard tracks that he’s on. Kinda like Steve Lukather he’s everywhere, he’s on everything, and only guitar players who really get into the weeds know who they are😂😂

As a kid i didnt want anything to do with country music but once you move away and get over your teenage self old country and real country music is like listening to your childhood and your history. Mr. Mason sure turned on the shred in this vid. chris scruggs is also a fantastic guitarist with a story to accompany every lick. and, besides just country, william tyler has a certain touch thats old and new at the same time. not to mention the great steel players old and young; guys like luke schneider who was fantastic in the old nashville mathy instrumental band "character" but also does solo stuff on steel or more pop meets old country with margo price. nashville guitar has a great community

I'm not a country boy, but I love Nashville and can't deny how magnificent their musicians are. I just found out about Brent through Wampler pedals. Damn he's good! I must say from a drummer's perspective this is also one of the most fun things to play and listen to. Cheers from Thunder Bay!

I think that's Dave Rowe, he played with Jerry Reed and Johnny Cash. He's just killing it here, with bass it's not how much you play, it's where you put it.

Really nice performance of this. Chuck gets a few things done better here than the other people I've seen jam this tune with Brent. His opening phrases to his trade-offs relate to the last thing Brent played, his Tele tone is that hollow type strat-position-2-and-4 type sound (contrasting to and staying out of the way of Brent's tone) and he's playing the main rhythm riffs with all the licks, not just the simplified chords with the 1 and 5 bass notes. All great players here. "these guys" ha. Excellent.
I grew up 6 miles from the Mason brothers. His brother Randy is a fabulous musician in his own right with some pretty amazing credits. Used to go there on occasion and watch Randy practice.
All I ask for is to be inspired. Many great players out there but Brent is one of them that makes me stop everything and pick up my guitar on the spot.

If you listened to The Nashville Network in the mid-late 90's you heard Brent's music all over that channel's program advertising (commercials for Nashville Now, TNN Motorsports etc.)

Based alone on Reggie Young's recordings prior to moving into country almost exclusively in the mid-late 1970s, when he was with American Studios in Memphis, he'd still be one of the most-recorded guitarists in history. Of course, "most recorded" can mean different things, too - most sessions done; most hit recordings played on and sold; most frequently booked as well as highest paid. Albert Lee must rank as one of the all-time leaders, alongside the late Cornell Dupree, who was for many years the top blues, funk, R&B session guitarist in NY City. Brent M. is a real monster; very humble considering the tremendous extent of his talent and experience.

Chuck had some skill but if you'll listen very closely, his runs never seem to land on a good ending note whereas Brent just seems to always have a good run and end on a solid note. To me... Brent's licks just stand out even though Chuck had a kind of faster style. Yeah, that drummer was right on time and I didn't notice the bass player at all so he must have done a great job blending in!
