Vince’s tone here is freeg’n ridiculous!! Simple Tele, cranked tubes... raw magic!! Unforgiving crying snortin tone that gives back what you put into it... manipulated beautifully by Mr, Gill!!!!
A lot of people say Nashville produces cookie cutter hits, but there is a reason they use these players. These guys are as good as it gets. They are utterly amazing and thats why they are AAA scale players making the big session bucks. Man unbelievable!!!!!!
His tone has always been the envy of many. It matches his playing and personality perfectly. For most of us country music musicians, he is Elvis lol. Anyone know where to find the full show from this?
I grew up on rock and roll but there is nothing like good country guitar playing...period! This was a bit of everything..country, blues, and a bit of jazz thrown in...great stuff!
These two guys are all rounders when it comes to playing. Country, Blues, and probably anything else you could throw at them. Vince once turned down an offer to play with Dire Straits. And here is the killer, if you are recording a country cd and you come from anywhere in the world these guys will actually do the guitar work on it for you. You send it away to them and they send it back with them playing on it. Cost a fortune most likely. Fantastic talented musicians.
I saw these guys play last night (minus Vince Gill) at 3rd and Lindsley here in Nashville. They were just absolutely amazing! They just got back from a 3 week tour in Japan. It's the most times theyve played together in a row so they were very tight and playing off each other VERY well. Brent Mason just can't hit a wrong note!
It is wonderful to know we have guitarists who have grown up with all the very greats gone before them & now play super music too & we can relate to various styles love it all.
People sleep on Vince Gill's playing but he's masterful. He rarely full on shreds it, but he shows incredibly tasteful restraint. Every note is perfectly chosen. Great with bends too -- reminds me a lot of Don Felder. He can rip it as well as anyone, as I'm sure anyone who has seen him play a lot of guitar knows, but what sets him apart is how he chooses to play. He's a true master of knowing what notes to play and when, kind of like Billy Gibbons.
Vince Gill played his ass of on that solo... lots of soul in there. Vince deserves more credit than he gets as a guitarist. he's one of the guys who developed the country style we play today. And Brent is Brent... whatever planet he came from aint getting him back!
Both Brent and Vince picking together is fabulous. The bassist (Michael Rhodes?) now tours with Blues guitarist extraordinaire Joe Bonnamassa ( who is worth your attention).
Incredible jammin', I basically a rocker who is now a chickin pickin' convert,...I saw the light. What's cool about Brent is that he knows it all , country, jazz, rock, you name it! A Guitarist's guitarist!!
Brent is one of the best recording artist in country music today. This guy has it all going, tone, clean notes, a touch of jazz flavor, versitality in finger picking to flat picking, and he makes it look so easy. Then you add Vince in this video with his style and E.Q. and it is just a mind blowing guitar session to die for
Did anyone else happen to notice that Vince Gill played some of the tastiest blues lix ever? And, that is another of many reasons why he's the high priest of country music.
The Blues would have been better if he turned off the cowboy effects. They were perfect for the head , but really killed the power of his great Blues playing. I agree he knocked the riffs out of the park, but a raw sound on the Blues stuff would have greatly improved the performance.- dirty dom
Brents a really good friend of mine actually all these guys. Were proud to have these guys in Nashville. I work with most of em' and I'd promise you they'd tell ya ya outta hear some these guys no ones heard of that aren't on tv. lol. I love living here.
Hello!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day… Stay Safe
I see these comments about getting mad and burning guitars. Don't do that. Get you guitar out, "try that at home", and then find someone to listen to you. I used to feel that way, I've stood beside and played with Tommy Emmanuel e.g. and I'm an amateur that wants to set my fingerboard on fire. Wrong attitude folks. These guys are phenomenal yes, but you need to practice and gain experience, you could do the same thing one day.
+David L. Whitehurst Good attitude, man, and good advice. Wasn't it Stan Getz that said the same thing? The only way you'll get better is to play with better players.
Wow is all you really can say after seeing this clip.Huge huge fan of paul franklin and brent mason amd vince gill as well. This group of guys I would have to say are the best in the world at what they do.Just Ausome! My hats off to these guys.
you're so right. I think i've already said it somewhere in these comments but just had to say it again. I was being impressed by mason's preciseness, speed etc etc... but then gill chimes in with a solo that just blew me away. goddam amazing.
Hey, I've heard Scotty Anderson play live a few times....I don't know how you could possibly think he's boring. I think Brent and Vince would agree that he's one of the top Tele Pickers around.
What a joy to listen to these incredibly gifted musicians jam. I won't burn my guitar, but man speechless with these folks. Awesome! I still can't Liza Jane or Hot wired to sound anything like those beasts.
My pleasure, thank you. Vince had a worried look on his face for that one, but alas up for the task. Mason is very quick and very precise and very cool.
So tell me how I haven't seen or heard of this incredible video before? Damn analytics let me down. Brent Mason AND Vince Gill playin' their asses off together? The definition of incredible-that was sweet ladies and gents! Brent doing his telemonster thing and Vince into some deep Tele blues, just love it-thanks for posting this even though it took me a century and half to get to it!
Wow . . . Vince as the blues guy in the band . . . these guys are both so amazing it just puts a huge smile on my face. And I love the guy on the Hammond.
Other than The Notorious Cherry Bombs, which was Vince Gill (vocals, electric guitar), Hank DeVito (steel guitar), Emory Gordy Jr. (bass guitar), Richard Bennett (electric guitar), Tony Brown (keyboards), and Larrie Londin (drums)
wow 2 of my favourites together... just awesome..thanks to JP!!! and to the 16 people that thumbs downed this...I feel sorry for your lives, may they get better and more filled with joy!
i keep coming back to this too ... SO good! but it makes me want to hear the piece they did just before this! - Vince is finishing up as this starts .... ANYONE have THAT????!!!! great stuff!!!!

Most amazing tone in Vince's rig and his blues is extraordinary! I heard him play something similar on a vintage ES335 that killed me! Also Brent is a beast! Geeze!
I was in the studio in July watching Brent Mason playing on an album, that I co-wrote, for a European artist. Fantastic player and all around nice guy.
Is that the great Paul Franklin on steel guitar. I've seen him play live, he's freakin awsome. I wish he would have played a long break. And I'll hand it to Vince, you've got to be very brave to play next to Brent Mason.
The "MUSIC" was excellent and I enjoyed it immensely without caring who was faster and better and picker etc... I'd love to play with these guys some day God Willing. That bass player is great too.

If you like this kind of music.......then move to Nashville.............I get to hear it every weekend...........it's not unusual to go to a diner and find Brent or Vince sitting next to you. Moved here from Brooklyn NY..........will die here.
Ok so I get an invite to Nashville and go down with some friends and were sitting at 3rd and Lindsley this past tues night listening to Brent Mason and the PLayers! About 12:30am Brent asked "Hey Vince you wana come up and sing us something' He had snuck in with his duaghter Jenny. Just love his Solo

Mason is a beast and a true session player-- Gil's tone tho'
The talent on that stage is RIDICULOUS!!!
Mason and Franklin on the same stage - The sheer mass of talent is enough to have the room collapse into a black hole 🕳
That bass player too. Don't know his name but he's everywhere. Played with Bonamassa many times.
@@wileymMichael Rhodes
He passed recently actually
@@bobbiemiles-foremaniii8747 That's a shame.
Michael Rhodes on bass is one of the most expressive players and always nails it. Thank you! Great jam!! Tight!
Agreed!!
And, he seems relaxed, and humble, and spot on every note.
Michael Rhodes just passed away last night per Sadowsky Guitars.
@@wmichaelstephens1530 Oh, no! 😢
That's a big loss. I loved his tempos and pocket.@@wmichaelstephens1530
RIP Michael Rhodes, what a treasure you are to so much music we all enjoy today!
One of the Best session Bass players in Nashville. Saw him many times with Bonamassa. RIP Mr. Rhodes.
VGs Tele is the best I ever heard...And his playing is beyond great...
I read where his tech claims that this one is the "perfect" tele. No argument here.
That is a deep pocket! The whole band is smoking and so expressive.
I also love the groove Michael Rhodes on bass ALWAYS lays down!! All of them - love it!!!

Vince is right up there with Brent. Both can shred. There is no other level beyond Bluegrass and chicken pickers.
You are so right, Brent’s hometown is fifteen minutes north of me.
you gotta love that blues gurn at 3:36!
