Hey kids! Time for a brand new Weekend Wankshop with your good ol' Uncle Ben Eller. This week, i'm running this sexy Suhr on full blast to show you the chicken pickin Brad Paisley masterpiece Nervous Breakdown! This lesson will take you through the intro, detailing the main riff and its endings. It incorporates a TON of open string pulloff licks, the minor pentatonic scale, and some hybrid picking. Its a beast to play! Wrap your mitts around this thing and let it get good to you.

God dang, now that I've learned this, all I do is drink cheap beer and play clean country.
Great lesson and thanks for introducing me to country shredding!
I like both kinds of music. Country AND Western!
Ken King's Flying Machines you’re missing the two best metal and classical
This is some Dad-Music I can get down to.
9 people had a nervous breakdown trying to learn this...
Great stuff Brad is by far my favorite country guitar player
Dude... Lol. You're great. This lick/you rules. Get it
Great lick Ben! Thanks!
One of my favorite guitar players no doubt!
Proud to say im about 10 to 15bpm away!! Thanks for this, saved me a ton of time.
Good lesson clear and easy to follow, well explained 👍
Dude, this is sweet! Thanks!
great lesson! very easy to follow. thanks a bunch!!
Excellent man, many thanks!
Whoa! I do believe you got it! 👍🏼
Your the best thing that's happened to me and my guitar today... Bless You Bro Thanks for sharing your notes ....
thank you for your lessons really good stuff
Damn, that was a great lesson!!
YAAASSS! Love yer country vidjas!
Great lesson! Thank you. I got it.
thanks for doin' a Paisley lick! I have nothing but respect for the guy. Well done. Now if only Ibanez made a b-bender....
Very useful, Thank you bro!
Great lesson!
Well damn Uncle B, seems I stumbled upon a little hidden treasure!! I had no idea you had the chicken pickin down so tight. You should redo this lesson on your new Tele!!
Nudge nudge
I have by no means mastered it at-tempo......but the main riff gets a lot more consistent (for me), and downright easier if you start it by using your ring finger instead of an upstroke. I believe Brad himself starts with his ring finger as well.
7 Years later, I will tell you this is something Brad consistently does lol
@@ruffestneckaroundis this just for the very first note, or for the first note of each four note cluster?
Getting nervous just watchin ya playing it!
Thx , sick hic licks are my fav .
Tricky pickin', for sure! Got the general idea down, just need to clean it and speed it a bit. Thanks, unc!
Dig, Ben!
Def cool!!!!!
You are a brute Uncle Ben... BTW my step sister said you never called again after your first date lol.
Hi Ben. Awesome lesson, as always. I've got it down, but my speed just isn't there (yet). Any chance you can do a lesson for the rest of the song, in addition to just the opening licks? I'm kinda stuck. Hard to figure out what is going on. Would be amazing if I can learn the entire song. Thx!
I used to jam with Andy Wood when we were teenagers in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg TN. He's really awesome.
Great video dad!
awesome - I have been playing for ever and I keep getting slower cant play fast ?
STEP BRAD SPEED!
Most people I see do it with all down picking in between the finger picks. Your way seems more efficient. Do you know which way Brad does?
Dood, how do you even hear fast enough to decode these licks? You are really really good at breaking down these solos. Thanks for posting.
sean fried google “amazing slow downer”
Wonder how well this will sound an Epi Dot..... Great lick, Ben. Definitely going to try and get this under my belt. x3
this kind of picking is so foreign to me its like hitting a brick wall and stopping dead..... Brad is one of the best pickers in the business.
Unlike a lot of country players, Brad Paisley actually doesn't add any compression effect besides the natural tube compression he gets from overdriving the class A EL84 power section of his amps.
Weird. I can see a wampler ego mini on his boards. All the time
Do you do in person lessons as well?
"In the neighborhood of G"
question: I watched the brad paisley video and he seems to be doing more right hand fingers than you. Are you aware of that? He seems to be starting this riff with pickers and not the pick as well, though I could be wrong, it is so so blazing fast!
Hey great lesson thanks! Those upstrokes take some getting used to aye?!
You bet!
Four years ago.. anyone got the tab hosted somewhere?
I know it has nothing to do with this video, but I would love to see a "Your Tremolo Picking Sucks" video. I can't seem to get anything sustainable at a good speed; but then trying to play Gojira just generally brings on feelings of inadequacy regardless ;)
+SubversiveFilms Love me some Gojira, and a "Your Tremolo Picking Sucks" video would be awesome, I have some trouble with the super fast stuff aswell.
Hello from the future!!! How did you guys fair in the trem picking department?? Did ya get it down like a pro yet?? Inquiring minds would like to know.
Teehee...happy guitaring 🤫
Hell no! A man's got to know his limitations.....
trying to learn this on acoustic. RIP
Do you have to grow your right hand's fingernails to chicken pick?
I have very shot fingernails and I can't play Welcome to buckethead land chicken picking lick maybe I'm doing it wrong.
You don't HAVE to, but I know I like to!
Ben Eller
ok, thanks man
yeeeeeeehaaaww
Where’s the whole song?
Is that castlevania in the background?
It's my rendition of the Punch Out soundtrack!
This song is not as difficult as it sounds.. not easy by any means but not impossible as it sounds
Why do you have to chicken pick it
found it ;-) instagram.com/p/BBZMgwJkFiE/?taken-by=benellerguitars
so you don't alternate the picking hand through to the end... should I or no? thanks Ben
Not familiar with these country sounds you speak of.
Paisley isn't that great of an acoustic player!
Super241946 whatever man. You show him how you do it then.
Anyway Johnny Hiland would eat him!!!
@@Super241946 Buckethead shreds all this... go listen.
