One excellent tip a pro carpet cleaner told me is that the main mistake made by home users is that we fail to rinse the carpet a second time using clean, hot water to remove soap residue. When you do, you’ll be shocked by how dirty the second rinse water is. Many carpets “dull” a few days after shampooing because the leftover soap discolors. So, we keep regularly shampooing when, in fact, rinsing well after shampooing would correct this issue and allow us to shampoo less often. It's like doing the whole thing twice, but I found it to be much better than shampooing only.
@@johndicesare2352 appreciate your thoughts on this. Luckily no damage to my floors. This machine doesn't really saturate carpet too much and dries really fast

I bought it like 6 months ago and have been intimidated by it since the instructions were not clear.... watched a couple of videos here but got more questions than answers. Thank you for posting this.... will finally clean my living room carpet tomorrow.
100% agree. No-one else explains what / when to use the trigger and what happens if you do! Thanks for the lesson! I borrowed my friends and when I tried to use it on the carpet, loads of clumpy deposits were left behind. Figured it had not been cleaned out after previous use, so I had to do that first. Plus all the water it collected just leaked back out...cleaned out that container and tightened up the bottom ring. Once that was all sorted, I saw how dirty my carpets were! I'm hoping it does a good job on my plush suede fabric sofas. Takes about 24hrs at 20C to dry properly.
I hadn’t used mine because I had no idea what to do until I saw your video. For larger areas, this thing is a beast. I’m tired after doing JUST the hallway . Thanks for posting.

Thank you for the video. I love this machine. I looked for a video as a reminder on how to use it, because I did not want to go digging for the manual. I bought this machine based off of good reviews. Plus when we bought our latest home 2 years ago, the elderly woman who owned it had not cleaned the carpets in who knows how long. I had already cleaned all the carpets with a Rug Dr, but thought we should buy our own machine. For future maintenance. There had been one room that smelled after using the Rug Dr so I redid the room a week or so later with this machine. It completely outdid the Rug Dr!! I got up so much loose carpet fuzz that had been trapped in the carpet that there were balls of carpet fuzz being spit out by the machine. Plus it looked even cleaner. I was beyond impressed!! I also use Oxiclean. I had bought an old Winnebago 1973 that had been used as a hunting shed. The Oxiclean brought those carpets from black to looking like new. That carpet was over 30 years old too!! I have also heard that the product Awesome that you can buy at the Dollar Store is supposed work amazing. I am going to try that in my husband's office. As that was the room that was the most stained. I have to buy garden sprayer first to apply the carpet cleaning mix and let it sit first. Then I will use the machine.

My tip when using this machine is to wear earplugs or headphones. It may not seem loud to some, but after 30 minutes, you can wind up with some ringing in the ears. The dry setting works like a regular vacuum and gets hair, crumbs, etc and pulls them into the attached dry container. The wet setting allows you to spray solution with the trigger and then pulls the dirty water into the regular dirty tank. Thanks for showing how you use yours to clean your area rugs. @JMGENTERPRISES I was actually just using my machine last night. It is a bit older model than the one you used in the video. After I finished going over only about a four by six foot area of my carpet, I realized the clean water tank was already empty and the carpet was soaked! I discovered that the clean water tank valve was apparently stuck open all the time and leaking water and solution mixture out. So now I have to decide if there's a way to fix that, or if I need to buy a new machine.
Is the machine getting the carpet wet even when you are not pulling the solution trigger on the handle? Or is it cleaning the carpet and suctioning the water out of the carpet as you pass back and forth after releasing the trigger? Where I have stains I am not sure if it's doing more harm than good if I pass back and forth several times hoping extra passes help scrub the stain out. But i don't want to saturate the carpet where it's wall to wall and wind up with a mold problem underneath.
@@JMGENTERPRISES I had gotten a mid- sized hoover that I returned because it DID just continue pumping out the water when stationary which I only realized was a standard process when I checked the owners manual.
Thank you very much for your informative video. Bissell should give you a commission. Bissell now has carpet cleaning solution with Oxyclean so you don't have to add the powder. The only thing I do differently is I go back and forth over the carpet several times (without administering the cleaning solution) until I do not see the unit vacuuming any "bubbles." That aids in the carpet drying quicker.
Great video. This is really a great carpet cleaning machine. I can't use the upholstery tool because we have a special treatment on our furniture and when I tried to clean it, the water literally beaded up and poured all over - to the lowest point. I'll have to have a cleaning company do that. For my carpet - it's awesome and we have a cat, so it really does a great job of deep cleaning.

Bruh. Just bought one on Black Friday for $70. I think I got a good deal if it works as well as you show. Thanks for the video, I was really here for the hand attachment segment, but the whole thing was informative! Thanks!
My rug is fairly thin so usually dries in 10 hours or so. I wish I could hang mine outside like you but living here in rainy Seattle, it's not always possible. Lol
Thank you so much! Very helpful 😊 and I’ll finally be able to use it correctly 🙏🏼 I have two questions: how often do you use it? And do you have a How to clean the machine itself? 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Glad you enjoyed! I only have area rugs in my house so only use this machine on them. Maybe every other week but I also have two dogs that track in a lot of dirt. I don't currently have a how to video on cleaning the machine but will try and get one posted soon!
I just recently bought this and I'm really excited to use it! Does anyone know how long it usually takes the rug to dry? I was going to do it at night when my kids are in bed so they weren't walking all over it after i cleaned. Maybe using a fan to help dry it also.
I usually do a few passes with just the suction to get it as dry as possible. Mine usually dries completely in a few hours. I am sure a fan would help too!
Thank you so very much! I haven't quite got the jist yet but at least I am able to make those passes. This carpet today is terrible for vacuuming and cleaning. It is industrial (I gleaned it). Dogs' hairs interwoven, so difficult to get out. I vacuumed first and then used the cleaner. x
Have you had the front intake (clear plastic), apart for cleaning ? The removable clear plastic piece traps carpet residue, yet cannot be separated when taken off from top of brushes
Great video, I have had this one for about a year and it does work remarkably well. I am not sure I like the handheld tool as much. I can't really tell if it is working right b/c the dirty water tank/cup never has anything in it. However the other hand held scrubber that came with mine does do a great job for stairs and furniture. Overall, this is a great shampooer to have.
@@JMGENTERPRISES thank you I watched it last night. This morning I hit up the living room and one of the bedrooms. The carpet looks brand new thank you again.
It is really effective and your video helped me get the most out of the machine. But it is a heavy machine and not so easy to move around on a wet rug. Luckily I only have rugs, the rest of the house is wood laminate
I found that making two passes forwards and backwards on standard carpeting with solution used a ton of solution and left the carpet wet and it was crunchy when it started to dry. I tried running it multiple times just in suction but didn't help. Eventually I tried just plain water rinse and that did help. When I used the machine a second time a few weeks later I just did one pass forwards and backwards and I was able to clean a lot more area with less solution. But I am thinking in your example you were doing a heavy rug so the double pass was fine.
Yeah, I suppose it depends on the situation and the floor type. I haven't had any issues with rug being too wet after a few passes over. Glad you are getting good use of your machine though! Have a great week :-)
Great video, and thank you. Just one pointer, on the hand tool, the "dry" setting actually behaves like a normal vacuum and pulls dry dirt into the cylinder storage. The "wet" setting is used to clean with the solution. It's not meant to switch in between to actually dry, dry. Just an FYI.
@@JMGENTERPRISES I use the machine for the first time today and I have a question. Is there some trick forgetting the clear plastic piece, the nozzle, to click back into place easily? Mine doesn’t seem to go easily
Question. If you fill your water tank up, how much of the dirty water doesn't suck up. I know it doesn't suck up 100% of the water. What would be the ratio of water that it actually will suck back up?
@@JMGENTERPRISES yeah I'm all done it worked out pretty well took a while seemed to work good just doing one line squirting and then pulling it back and sucking it up and then I let it dry a little and went over it with a vacuum to get the little chunky things that get stuck all over the floor. Probably did about 1500 square feet in about an hour and a half 2 hours... It's definitely some time consuming stuff but it looks good I think they'll be happy!!!
Great video! Do your brushes keep rotating when you are using the upholstery cleaner? That makes me a bit nervous having that constantly run in one spot when I’m cleaning something or if it’s sitting on hardwood while I’m cleaning a couch. I wish there was a way to shut that off. Have you had any issues?
Yes, mine keep rotating when I use the wand. I haven't noticed it cause any issues on my rug, carpet or laminate flooring. If your concerned, you can always try leaning it slightly like an inch so the brushes are off the floor.
@@JMGENTERPRISES thank you for your response! I might try that. I just bought one and that’s the only thing I noticed that bugged me a little. It was my first time using it yesterday (otherwise I loved it). It did leave a tiny little spot while I was cleaning my steps but it came up so I don’t think it was a burn. It was about the size of a dime. I might try leaning it next time. Thanks again!

@@JMGENTERPRISES where did you get yours? I only adk because I watched another video and that fella had the same cip you did. I assumed you guys both got one but I didn't. Thanks for your help.
I'm sure you have resolved your issue by now, as you posted 2 months ago lol but I'm sure if anyone is reading this in the future, mine did come with that same measuring cup ... I'm sure if you reached out to Bissell they'd send one for free. It's worth a shot ... if not, they do sell them but Amazon would be my choice because paying for shipping on a measuring cup that costs $1 is silly 😂
Thanks for this video. I agree with the comments that the machine itself works well and is definitely worth the money. However, the instructions leave a lot to be desired. I am always amazed that companies like Bissell have solid products (hardware) but have very little guidance (software) on how to use and/or maximize the machine. Would seem to me that a QR code could be scanned that bring up a video with easy to follow instructions.

Thanks. Yeah I made the mistake about ounces. Good catch. But most tap water is under 140F degrees F so you have nothing to worry about.
No, when the trigger is not depressed, it is not dispensing water. I have never had issues with water getting under my rug.
@@JMGENTERPRISES
I had gotten a mid- sized hoover that
I returned because
it DID just continue
pumping out the water when stationary which I only realized was
a standard process
when I checked the owners manual.
Glad it helped and thanks for the tip!
Glad you like your machine as well. Sounds like your furniture is already protected!! 👌 🙂
Thanks for this tutorial. My friends gave me their machine and I can't wait to try it out. You made it look easy and fun.
It's an amazing household tool! I just used it last week! Let me know how you like it! 👍 🙂
Sold! I was looking for a cleaner and came across this one. I figured I'd check out good ole RUclips, and your video was the second one. I clicked one it, and boy what a fantastic video you've made! Thanks for being so thorough. 👍
Glad you think so! Enjoy your new cleaner. Let me know how you like it! :-)
@@JMGENTERPRISES Will do. I can't believe i'm saying this, but I can't wait to clean my carpet. Haha!!!
Thank you for the oxi clean tip! I clean the carpet in my foster kitten play room between foster litters and always worry about germs/odor. I never knew how to use the hand held attachment and I think this is going to come in really handy
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for the great review. I scored this unit for $159 on Amazon Prime Day.
Enjoy!! Great deal too! 🙂
Thank you for your info video . My bissel didn't come with instructions.
Thank you thumbs up
You are welcome! Thanks for the thumbs up. Enjoy your Bissell!
Thanks so much. I have a machine but didn't have a manual or instructions. Very helpful!
You are welcome!
Bruh. Just bought one on Black Friday for $70. I think I got a good deal if it works as well as you show. Thanks for the video, I was really here for the hand attachment segment, but the whole thing was informative! Thanks!
Wow! You got a steal for $70! It's a great machine. I'm sure you'll be pleased.
@@JMGENTERPRISES Ya. I got to use it for 1 room and a hallway. It did an amazing job. I am blown away! Thanks again!
super finally know how attachments work! excellent!

Same! Never tried it, now I am going to
I love the paw prints on the hardwood floors.
🤣🤣🤣
The cup measurement is 2.5 fl. oz for line 1 ( not 25 ) Thank you for this video. Just what I was looking for.
Yes, correct! Lol. I didn't realize I made the mistake till afterwards 😅
Ty I needed help. The QUestion I have is my nozzle sucks up good But the upright part didn't suck up? I cleaned everything good.
Check my channel. I made a video on this. It's usually a jammed change valve.
Thanks! Best video of how to use the machine and I love the idea of using OXYCLEAN with the mixture!
Glad it was helpful!
Thx for great video. Does the rug really dry all the way? for me it's still kinda wet so i hang it out afterwards
My rug is fairly thin so usually dries in 10 hours or so. I wish I could hang mine outside like you but living here in rainy Seattle, it's not always possible. Lol
We bought this a couple of years ago and will finally be using it this weekend. How long does it take for the rug to dry?
If you do two suction passes, I usually say it dried in 3-4 hours
Clear and concise instructions. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for a detail tutorial. Watching from Australia. 🇦🇺
Thanks for watching! 😊
Hey, thanks, great informative video. I figured out how to connect the upholstery attachments after watching your video. We have new puppies...
Glad I could help! Yay! Congrats on the new puppies :-)
Great Great Video...To the Point without any Extra Nonsense. Thank you.
Happy you thought so! ☺️
Great Video! Finally a video how to get the most out of the investment. Thanks to other users who added additional tips.
Glad you thought so Russ! Enjoy your new machine. It is great!
Super awesome and informative! Thanks! Just used mine this morning - worked like a charm!
Glad it helped!
This was exactly the tutorial I needed thanks!
Happy to help ☺️
Very useful instructions and explanations. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
@@JMGENTERPRISESthanks a lot!! 😊
Thanks a lot buddy. Just about to try my machine for the first time
You bet! Let me know how it goes!
@@JMGENTERPRISES This thing is friggin AMAZING!!!! I'm in love
@@moetimski9767 yay! Glad to hear it!
Thank you so very much! I haven't quite got the jist yet but at least I am able to make those passes. This carpet today is terrible for vacuuming and cleaning. It is industrial (I gleaned it). Dogs' hairs interwoven, so difficult to get out. I vacuumed first and then used the cleaner. x
You bet! It does take some practice. Interwoven dog hair is the worst! Hope you can get it clean as a whistle!
Thanks I just bought one. I didn't know where the holes go. Cause I Didn't feel like reading the manual now I know where it goes. 😃
I'm sure you'll like it! Let me know!
LOL…RTFM 😂😊
Have you had the front intake (clear plastic), apart for cleaning ?
The removable clear plastic piece traps carpet residue, yet cannot be separated when taken off from top of brushes
I haven't yet. I was going to look into it soon though
Thank you for this video,
My machine arrived today, I look forward to using it all the more now so have your guidance.
Happy I could help! I'm confident you will enjoy the machine! I use it much!
I agree. I don't use the handheld wand too much for the same reason
Great video thank you so much possibly the best one on RUclips on how to use this particular device
Happy I could help!
@@JMGENTERPRISES thank you I watched it last night. This morning I hit up the living room and one of the bedrooms. The carpet looks brand new thank you again.
Thank you so much. This thing has been co fusing me for months
Grateful I could help!
It is really effective and your video helped me get the most out of the machine. But it is a heavy machine and not so easy to move around on a wet rug. Luckily I only have rugs, the rest of the house is wood laminate
Yeah I agree it is a bit bulky
I am watching this cause I got to use one at work but I'm so getting one for home
Nice! You must think it works well if you are buying one for personal use!
Would have loved to see your tips on how to clean the roller brush head after you have completed your your cleaning.
I'll have to make another video about that. It's pretty easy. I'll get on it next week and post the video asap!
@@JMGENTERPRISES Thanks!
How long does it take for carpet in a room take to dry? I just did mine and have the floor fan on high.
If I make a few passes sucking up the water, the rug is usually dry within a few hours. It's a thin rug though.
Beautiful rug
Thank you!! 😊
I didn't know that. Thanks for letting me know 😁
@@JMGENTERPRISES Your welcome brother! 🤙

@@JMGENTERPRISES I use the machine for the first time today and I have a question. Is there some trick forgetting the clear plastic piece, the nozzle, to click back into place easily? Mine doesn’t seem to go easily
@@EriqKoontz hard to say. Does it move easily when not turned on?
Excelent video! I do have a question, isnt it 2.5 oz or 25?
You are correct. 2.5oz
Thanks! Next, could you do a video on how to clean the machine afterwards?
I surely will!
@@JMGENTERPRISES Great!
Question.
If you fill your water tank up, how much of the dirty water doesn't suck up. I know it doesn't suck up 100% of the water. What would be the ratio of water that it actually will suck back up?
It usually fills the dirty container about 1/3 before it shuts off and has to be emptied.
Thank you. I feel confident to use my new machine.
Glad I could help! I'm sure you'll love it. Awesome machine
Thank you so much. I lost the directions or file away. Now onto the shampooing.
Glad I could help and happy cleaning!
Great vid ! Straight to the point .
Happy you enjoyed 😊
Thank you for the concise tutorial I appreciate this I'm going to do a law firm this evening with it this seems like it may take forever......
Oh wow. Yeah that's going to take some time and many many refills. Best if luck. Let me know how it goes! 🙂
@@jonmorris4034 good job! Glad it came out well and didn't take too long 🙂
Great video!
Wonderful! I was worried about this and couldn't find an answer anywhere!
Have you looked at the Bissell spot clean machines? I have this same ProtHeat 2x machine but wonder if the portable spot clean would be better at handling upholstery?
I haven't yet. Let me know how it is if you do!
Thanks for a great video! I am having a super hard time getting the cover to lock. I’m talking about the cover over the cover on the brushes. It takes me longer to place that thing securely than it takes to actually clean my carpet. It’s piece #14 from the Bissell user manual. Any tips you can share?
I'm sorry to hear that. I haven't experienced that problem. Are you sure there is nothing obstructing it?
I think you have to secure the bottom clips first, then put the top of the cover down.
Hi. Thanks for your video. It was very helpful as I purchased the same machine today. My machine did not come with the measuting cup you used for the shampoo. Did you already have that or was it supplied?
Mine did not come with a measuring cup either.
@@JMGENTERPRISES where did you get yours? I only adk because I watched another video and that fella had the same cip you did. I assumed you guys both got one but I didn't. Thanks for your help.
@@boblarkin1003 amazon I believe.
This was very helpful. Thank you!
You're very welcome! Hope you have a great week!
Exactly. Some companies need to work on that for sure
