- I go over my Ebay turbo set up.
EVAP system removal.
Waste gate and BOOST controller set up and configuration.
BOV set up.
And some more.
Here is the pinout I used for the build.

I enjoyed watching this, I'm doing a 1.8t build but in my scirocco
this is the best explaination of turbo install. the title fits the video.BIG PROPS!
its holding up nicely, no problems yet.
So sick dude.
it cracked on me in 3 places.
I ended up getting a cast one and modifying it to fit.
Looks and feels way better.
How's the build buddy, looking for the update video! And where did you get your intercooler was it a kit or seperate core
my digital boost gauge would reach 10psi briefly then return to its 8psi designation and my manual controller went to 13-14psi before returning to 10 so the choice is yours i just prefer audi controllers.
boost spikes are pretty common to most boost controllers some more so than others, at least that is what i have noticed, more so with the cheaper models than the latter but that is all dependant on build quality. i am not running a manual boost controller i only ran 1 briefly then re installed my factory n75 you can pick up a different code N75 for safer boost increases such as the n75 J and n75 F i believe our factory unit is n75 E if memory serves me. there is still some boost creep though
It runs great now. I have to post another vid of the performance.
boosting around 12 psi and with no problems.
Hows the ebay stuff holding up ? gonna oder the t3/t4 turbo and ATP manifold, I'm surprised you got no boost spikes, I'm running 19-20 on my tune on stock k03 turbo but ecus tuned.
The trans would not want to shift correctly with the MS ecu, so I ended up selling the car. I actually got it to run really well.
It's an ebay kit. Only about 300 or less for the kit.
For sure and how simple it is to take it apart replace the seals its for sure not worth it.. How you have your MBC hooked up are you getting any boost spikes ? I got a 2000 Audi a4 b5 and i want more boost I'm at 8 stock right now.. I got the ATW engine people say if i put one on it.. I'll get boost spikes.
companies such as 034motorsport, ECS tuning and pretty much any euro motorsport company should have these or be able to order them but they are not cheap, however i have seen some in the old school hot rod Toyota crowd use the air regulator from an air compressor with very impressive results they hold extremely well and at a fraction of the price...not sure of the exact name of the part or how exactly they connected it though but i am sure the info is on a forum somewhere.
be cautious of that manifold i had 1 on my 1.8t at 1 point and it cracked 3 times the third time i just replaced it and took my project in a new and better direction...well better for me that is, your bov should be closer to your compressor housing so as to reduce the chance of turbo surge, you shouldn't remove the evap system because you will burn a check engine symbol into your forehead lol, i recommend buying some -6an push lock hose and cleaning up the evap system instead, nice build cheers.
I dunno about that.. My friend got a ebay 20g turbo and has been running it down the drag at 25psi for a long time now.. Still working fine.
This car get done? I’m interested in seeing it run.
I like you enthusiasm and effort but I just can't for the life of me understand why you are building a automatic Audi. You would have so much more fun with a 5 speed Quattro.
Chris Watson so true
Sups 12 Holy shit I just noticed green coolant in his reservoir!!! For the love of god!
non g12 smh...
Nooo!! He drilled through the watertight ecu housing too!!
So the bov leaks under boost?
I dont get any boost spikes.
The lowest it lets me boost is 10psi.
I hit 15psi solid when I turn it up a few clicks.
Love the build! I’ve beeen having overheating problems with mine lmk if you could help
Have you made sure you dont have a head gasket problem? If you notice that the radiator gets low on coolant or pressurizes too much, it could be a small leak in the head gasket. Other than that, I had no issues with over heating. Also make sure your fans are coming on. If not you can just connect them to a switch.
good idea, I would hate for my engine to eat oil the whole way home because of a bad seal.
Alright and where could i buy a N75J or N75 F.. All i want it like 13-15 psi I'm at 8 and to have a boost spike of 13-15 i wouldn't mind at all just that extra bit of power id love.. Any cheap ideas to get that lol ?
Your not getting any boost spikes with that MBC ?
stock turbo is good port the head and tune s trim the turbine
no ecumenical tune. I do want the giac tune and to upgrade injectors.
well i have heard those same stories as well but from personal experience i just wouldn't risk it that's all.
That Turbo on a "Stock Tune"?
Please elaborate?.. like ECU is factory and it was just a direct bolt on, and thats it?
Veyron640 I put a megasquirt on the car and just cut the wires that control spark and injectors and taped into sensor wires to share the information between the stock ecu and megasquirt. This way I could still use the dash. The stock ecu thought it controlled things but actually didn’t control how the car ran at all. I did with the megasquirt.
hey do you still have that turbo
You should have links to your stuff ! I have a 1.8t and have been looking for a bigger turbo I have a k04 at the moment
its gonna blow up lol
nick rizzo what is
hey how long did all the ebay engine mods last u.. is ur car still in action?
MR CT NGUYEN the waste gate worked perfect.
Boost controller had no spikes.
Turbo was fine, although getting a proper core rebuild was next on my list.
Headers cracked so I used a log manifold.
Megasquirt was perfect with the 60-2 trigger wheel.
It was worth it for me at the time, but bigger hp gains require more heat resistance and anything over 250-300 hp with my setup would need better parts.
Quick fun inexpensive power, ebay is my choice.
this is a very informative video and i deff picked up a thing or two from the walkthru but damn bro you gotta be monotone cuz you had me almost falling asleep; it was hard to watch the whole thing lmao either that or you are just mad stoned idk haha no offense but thx i gave u a thumbs up none the less (when i woke up at the end)
How does it run with the Audi turbo, did you get it tuned for it?
eBay turbo*
well it depends on the build quality it varies from controller to controller it wont cut instantly down it will say spike at 15psi the as your rpms increase the boost will slowly be bled off until it reaches the preset, as far as chips go there are many out there for all audi ecu you just have to do a little digging,034motorsport can make there own chips but they tend to be pricey so research is key. there are allot of fakes out there as well so research research research
Fyi recirculate your bov haha, Mine wont even run like that.. and it pushed the release valve up on the bov, It doesn't get pulled up my vacuum lol. If your running stand alone bov like thats fine but if stock she wont like that, Or get Vag-com and tune your ecu for your mods so the ecu will accept them as normal.
oh and 1 other small bit of friendly advice, remove your turbo and rebuild it with OEM seals not from ebay you will thank me and so will your wallet (if i knew then what i know now)
Any updated video on this?
I sold it a while back. I need to find my wiring notes so others can have a point of reference if they want the b5 big turbo challenge.
@@idus ah, that would be great. I have a b6, any idea if it’s about the same?
@@nicholasrodriguez2122 the 1.8t motor runs through many models so I’m sure it runs a 60-2 wheel for crank timing. That’s perfect for a stand-alone. All you really need is to sense the motor rotation and everything else comes to life. Once rpm is read, your fueling and ignition become possible. I’ll double check and update the description in this video this weekend.
Normal green coolant in your Audi???? 😯😓
Chris Watson yea, with distilled water it was fine. Aluminum is aluminum. Just change it every year or so and it’s a great alternative.
didn't see the vac line on the bottom.
Thats ok, Took me a week to dial in the blow off valve.
still running the same setup?
If you check riecent videos, I now have a turbo datsun 510. Kat
I got a bmw ai want to do an ls swap on. Just need to find the right motor.
The jy had one but it had north of 250k miles. Kind of a risk.
Do you still have it?
Buguardo Pallamantis I sold it unfortunately. It was a great car.
nice fab and welding. terrible idea though. $300 ebay kit and audi = disaster. my injectors for my modded b5 a4 1.8t cost more then that 😂 and thats not bragging, just a cost of performance fact.
so what would you say your injectors have over ebay 1000cc $180 ones?
metter ms, or low z maybe? but then you need to solder a resister for it to work with megasquirt.
manufacturing now days makes mods cheep and easy. spending too much isnt really worth it for budget builds. unless you make good money, spending 1000 on a turbo isnt smart. ebay, 250 for a gt35 that will feel great at 20psi.
180 for ebay injectors is already 60% of the cost of the entire ebay turbo kit. If $300 turbo kits were so good why doesnt everyone just run those? Because they are junk! I used to go to this shop that was near by. They had a Eclipse turbo that belonged to a teen. Made 360ishawhp ( granted that was on a dyno dynamics which read super high ). It was boosting 20psi for about a month and a half. Then the turbo went. When you build a modified daily driver you need it to be reliable. Im all about saving myself, i dont own a company and im not making alot. But their are limits to saving, u cant expect to buy a whole turbo system for 300 and expect it to last for any real length of time. A proper waste gate is as expensive as that kit. Post your claim on audizine, see what the guys there say. They wont be as nice as i was 😄.
So the cars gone. Any new project?
+Peter Ohsnap kid... all an ebay kit is pretty much piping... a tube is a tube. turbos are a hit or miss, rebuild with legitimate parts and most ebay turbos are solid.
I have an idea, make a case instead of vomiting stupid posts that hold no value.
Peter Ohsnap all my b5 has is apr stage 1, test pipe, forge splitter and fmic. Mines a fwd and i can barely put power down. Blows the tires off in 2nd if its less than 50 degrees. Vw/audi ecu are sensitive basatrds. I don't know how this thing could run right.
rocking non g12/g13 coolant... lol
Coolant was my last concern. Mainly the auto trans was the culprit. I could have gotten a gio board to control the trans and it would have been solid. I would have a processor that I could program and relays to control when the solenoids came on and off. Nice paddle shifting I Could have done.
+idusclothing how long did it all work?
Hmmm dammit DSMS are so easier to work on then these damn audis i hate old cars but love them for the simple power.. So it would go up to like 14 then 13 then shut right down to 10 ? Its better then dropping all the way to 8 ? Do you mean like chips ? ECU upgrades i have a ATW engine so their isn't many ecus that have been chipped for these cars.. Only 1 year of the ATW witch is a bitch !
Your MBC it's bad connected xD
I put a front mount on my audi a4 b6 1.8t 05 i need ur help can u msg me bakk
You welded mounts for it?
Yeah its holding up but the tube that has a nippple for the pressure keeps unpoping and also if u can msg me privitly so then i can call u and better explain whats happeing

why go that big of a turbo for 10 psi you can get a cheap ko3 or ko4 and do the same amount
No,
Smaller turbos push less cfm meaning less air to the motor. You can have the same psi for a smaller turbo but get less air and making less power at the same boost pressure. The downside is that it spools at a higher rpm. I was anticipating a higher turbo thresh hold on this build when I did it. Turned out to spool nicely and gave great power on the onramp.
you know they run 8 psi stock right i have a b5.5 with an awm 1.8t and it does 8 psi stock tune
+HeyItsSway i have an 1.8T how do i make my stock turbo push more psi
Michael Owens only thing i can think of is to tighten your wastegate spring but it wont be a noticeable amount (2-3psi) i would recommend taking it to someone and have the ecu tuned for more
thanks
@10:32 dudes got a racist turbo
USING THE WORST BOOST CONTROL ON MARKET . GO WITH A RELIEF VALVE , AND PRESSURE CONTROLLER , SO NO BOOST CREEP .....GOOD LUCK WITH GETTING YOUR FRONT BUMPER BACK ON .......
Wow, what a hack job. I stopped watching at the point where you had duct tape on your intake pipe. Because that will hold your acclaimed 20 lbs of boost. Keep unplugging things y
I stopped watching after he said, "stock tune." lol.
Bro word of the wise save some embarrassment and refrain from uploading your turbo build until it's cleaned up and finished... Because no offense but that is just 100% funny looking in every shape way and form. I'm currently in the middle of rebuilding my 2000 A4 B5 ATW 1.8t big turbo swap and am glad to see the enthusiasm keeps me motivated to say the least but golley son w.t.h happened
It's just content, doesn't have to be perfect. Glad you watched it. Looking forward to you posting. Ill sub to keep a look out.
Auto........wtf
Jonny Boy ikr
It was worth a try because it was the “family car”. It came with the whole turbo setup. Last owner was in the woods so I got it to run. The standalone controlled fuel and spark but the stock ecu controller the rest. It ran great. 5spd is preferred though.
Made dp yourself don't know the size yeah stick to ebay parts. Poor audi.
